"Its...not going to bite me is it?" Vikram asked, trepidatiously reaching his hand towards the boar sized hound with hell in its eyes. It's snarls of pain soothed by the young warrior, He touched its chest as it whimpered slightly. Beams of light shone out from its open wounds, dissapearing as they closed. He could feel a few bones resetting themselves as the power within him slowly began to fade. "There we are, all better? He's quite the trooper you know, you said his name was spicy? I see where he gets it from." Demonic, but the girl had taken it in, so it couldn't be that bad, right? What's more impressive, that the light in his mind did not object to the care he gave it so freely. Other powers must be at work here. Vikram sat back on his bench and rested a moment, adjusting his armor to see if the quick repairs had done their job. Satisfactory, Astrid was quite the smith after all.
"I worry if we will be disqualified for sparing the beast. Surely they wouldn't let us sit here if that were the case? If not, be certain that the retaliation will be severe." The dull roar of the crowd from overhead made it hard to hear, it would seem that the challengers after themselves had been eliminated by whatever they had in line after the beast.

The hellhound watches Vikram's hand approach with suspicion in his eyes, but Astrid pets him and soothes him, and with a bit of magic, he's healed. A quick, surprised snort escapes the hound's nostrils, then he wriggles out of Astrid's arms and sits on the ground while Astrid affectionately ruffles his ears. "Spicy Pawsage, actually," Astrid says with a smile. "Cause he's a hot dog and he likes hotdogs. So... Spicy Pawsage with a funky play on a paw and a sausage." Patting the hound's side, she sits back to relax a bit before the next match. Of course, she worried about getting kicked out of the tournament, but if they get kicked out for doing the right thing, then so be it. It's a long while of sitting around and resting before the waiting room is only them. That's... well, it's only a little surprising. They are the representatives of the Fighter's Guild, the best of the best. Eventually, someone approaches them and tells them to come along, they're up to face off against the arena champion. Astrid decides to leave Spicy Pawsage with Charles for this next bout, not wanting the hound to get more hurt than before. Charles, as always, stays back patiently and wishes the two fighters luck. Entering the arena, the crowd both cheers and jeers. There's significantly more blood splattered around than before. It seems like the other contestants definitely had a Bad Time TM. Astrid looks around at the cage surrounding the arena and notices that some temporary repairs were made between rounds to prevent further escapes. That's good at least. The announcer speaks up for the crowd, announcing them as the only survivors for the first round and begins introducing the champion. "The Executioner, The Huntress, the one who's never let a quarry escape: Ceena, the Champion of the Arena!" Around them, the crowd goes ballistic. Across the arena, the doors open, and a lone figure emerges. With a large crossbow in their hands and equipped with a bandolier with various kinds of ammunition and flasks, the hooded champion walks out confidently. Each footfall is heavy, things clinking together on their belt. They wear gauntlets, a cuirass, and greaves. A mask and goggles cover their face. They are an imposing figure. The Champion Ceena says nothing to the challengers. She makes no motions to indicate any acknowledgment to them. Astrid grips her hammers and glances at Vikram. Alright, time to win this.
Ceena's build: Hood Cuirass Gauntlets Greaves Weapon Tether (repeater crossbow) Hand Hook Sun Sparked Goggles - A small pair of goggles with a leather strap used to wear the pair of glasses. The goggles themselves are made of red tinted plastic and fitted to securely sit pressed against the face. The red plastic is tinted to protect the eyes from bright lights of all kinds, including flames, light and even magical blinding effects. While wearing these goggles you ignore any blinding effects.
Exalted Marksmen Master Blade Master Armor Master Alchemy Bull's Strength
Ammunition - 60 bolts Vicious Dagger -This jagged and serrated dagger is said to be filled with the soul of an anguished spirit. This weapon has the serrated enchantment on it, causing any wound inflicted by this blade to rip and tear flesh, unable to be healed by normal healing magic. In addition the injured targets mind will be filled with horrifying images of pain and death, they will watch the death of the spirit who's soul is trapped in the blade, violent and bloody scenes playing out in their mind for a single post. Repeater Crossbow - A large heavy crossbow made of thick wood and fitted with odd metal contraptions. This machine operates much like a normal crossbow, however instead of firing a single bolt before needing to be reloaded, this crossbow will fire three separate bolts with the pull of a single trigger, one after the other in quick succession. However because of its size and weight, this weapon requires two hands to use and must be reloaded before being used again. (crossbow enchantment) Magic Blocker - This enchantment gives the item the ability to cut off one's access to their magical energy. If this weapon strikes a target's bare flesh (by cutting through fabric or armor) that target cannot summon their magical energy for their next post. Active effects will continue to persist, however, they cannot use new spells. (crossbow enchantment) Life Link - This enchantment allows the wielder to heal from attacks landed against an enemy. After striking an enemy minor cuts, scraps and wounds will slowly heal up, giving the weapons wielder some rejuvenation.
Numbing Poison x1 set - A tiny glass bottle filled with thick dark green liquid. This liquid can be applied to objects or even directly applied to a target. When this liquid is applied to the skin it will begin to numb that area, causing whoever it is own to lose all feeling in that area. This will allow the afflicted to ignore the sensation of damage applied to that area. They will still take the damage, but ignore its pain. Comes in a set of two bottles. Smoke Flask x1 set - A small glass flask filled with thick dark smoke, swirling around inside of it. This bottle can be smashed or broken to allow the smoke to spill out of it. The smoke creates a large cloud, filling up the area and consuming anyone standing inside of it. This smoke obscures vision, blocking out anyone inside of it and preventing people from seeing. Anyone looking from the outside in wont be able to see anything either. Comes in a set of two bottles. Flash Flask x1 set - A small glass flask filled with bright light, swirling around inside of it. This bottle can be smashed or broken to allow the light to spill out of it. When smashed this light will flash outward, attempting to blind anyone looking at the light. They will be unable to see for the next post, their vision filled with blind whiteness. Comes in a set of two bottles. Explosive Cask x1 set - A wooden bottle lined with metal bearings and a rubber cork. The bottle is filled with charged energy, a swirling bottle of fire and flame. This bottle can be smashed or broken to create a small explosion centered on the bottle. Flame and heat explode outwards, igniting things on fire or dealing a large amount of damage to anyone caught inside the blast. Comes in a set of two bottles. Delusional Poison x1 set - A small glass bottle with dark black liquid that seems to swirl around. This poison can be consumed or applied to a weapon, which allows it to enter a wound. If this liquid enters the blood stream it will cause the targets head to feel dizzy, causing them to become unaware for a few moments. They will feel dizzy, have a cloudy mind and find their reaction speed dramatically slowed down, almost as if they were super drunk. These effects will last for three post. Comes in a set of two bottles. Sleep Poison x1 set - A small glass bottle filled with a murky clear liquid. This liquid is odorless and can easily be slipped into food or drink, or even added to the edge of a weapon. If this poison enters the blood stream it will knock the afflicted person unconscious instantly. They will remain asleep for the entirety of their next post. If they take damage they will be awoken from their slumber. Comes in a set of two bottles. Eagle Sight Potion x1 - A small glass flask filled with thick grey liquid that can be attached to a belt or stored in a bag. This flask contains enough liquid for a single person to consume. Anyone who drinks the contents of the flask will find their eye sight vastly improved. You can see twice as far as normal and can even see in vision obstructing material like smoke, mist or fog. Comes in a set of two bottles Explosive Ornaments x1 set of 3 - Three glass ornaments used to decorate trees and homes during the winter. These however have been tampered with by pirates from dragon's cradle and sold as a prank. These glass balls are filled with black powder, and when applied to flame will instantly explode. This firey explosion will reach up to five feet from the ornament and deals moderate fire damage. Frostfire Extract x1 - Applying the poison to a weapon gives its strikes a unique effect reflecting its name. For 2 posts after application, wounds inflicted by the poisoned weapon produce a moderately painful, localized burning sensation that slowly removes body heat from the victim. If these wounds are left untreated or unhealed, the poison will eventually induce severe hypothermia. Anyone afflicted by this poison can not cast spells that use or deal fire damage. Can only be applied once per topic.
MAGE SLAYER
Sworn Enemy: The mage slayer has devoted themselves to fighting off magic, regardless of their reason they have chosen to target those who would wield the arcane. If an enemy would cast a spell while you can see them, you can mark that person as your sworn enemy. For the next three post you will deal double damage with your physical and martial attacks against the marked enemy. You can not choose a new sworn enemy until the duration of the current one is over and can not have more than one at any time. If your sworn enemy cast a new spell during the duration, it will not extend the duration.
Spell Drinker: The slayer has spent their years fighting off magic that they have now learned how to absorb magical energy and use it as their own instead. If you would take damage from a spell, regardless of its type, you can instead choose to heal yourself with that spell, causing the spell to act as a minor healing spell instead of its normal type. This will not ignore effects of a spell, just simply the damage. This feature can only be used twice per topic.
Deflecting Slice: The slayer has learned the ins and outs of combatting spells, learning how to fight against spells that would be cast against them. You can now slice through a spell that has been cast towards you, ripping the spell in half. If an elemental spell has been cast and it has physical form, such as a fire ball, lightning bolt or wall of ice, you can cut through the spell with one of your martial weapons. This will negate the spell, rendering it useless. This can only be done twice per topic.

The drums had barely sounded to announce the beginning of the final fight, before vikram noticed he had been shot. One to the left shoulder, and one auspiciously lodged in the meat of his turban. He could feel the shaft tickling his scalp as moved his turban to look for the shooter Ceena, already reloading while dashing to another position in the cage. The leather clad woman skidded to a stop after new bolts had been loaded, and Vikram dashed forward. Assuming a Hyena form to close the distance, he could see in black and white colors as the woman threw out a shiny bottle between them.
A brilliant flash filled his dawgy vision, forcing him out of the form while maintaining his momentum. He rolled to a dusty stop on the ground about 20 feet away from his target. Vikram stabbed his sword into the ground and pulled himself up with his good arm, withdrawing the blade and keeping it ready. Stamping his feet into the ground, the dirt of the arena carved itself from the ground and onto his limbs, creating hardened earthen guards. Assuming a defensive posture, he slowly turned his facing around himself, unable to see.
"I'm fine...Be cautious."

The competitors barely have an opportunity to study one another before Ceena strikes. In the blink of an eye, three bolts fire from her crossbow. One find purchase with Vikram and two narrowly miss between the two of them. Vikram charges forward, and Astrid throws her war hammer at the campion. Then, a bright flash of light fills the arena, blinding Astrid and Vikram both, causing Astrid to fling wide. Unable to see clearly, Astrid's eyes straining against the light, the girl fits her goggles back over her eyes and blinks through the pain of being temporarily blinded. Ceena seems unaffected, and the hammer collides with the wall behind her with a heavy thud. Ceena takes advantage of her blinded opponents to set up her next combo. Three bolts are quickly loaded into her crossbow, and she drinks a potion, though it's impossible to see what kind for her opponents. Then another flask breaks on the ground, and Vikram and Astrid are surrounded by smoke. It burns Astrid's throat and would sting her eyes if they weren't already watering and trying to recover from the flash. Desperate not to be defenseless, Astrid holds her hand out and recalls her hammer. It flies unseen through the arena and smoke into Astrid's hand, and as she looks around, desperate to not be caught unaware - thunk thunk thunk! Three bolts narrowly miss Astrid, striking the ground around her in places where her armor created after images. She looks around, confused, and her vision finally starting to clear only to be clouded by smoke. "Vikram? Vikram!"

Slowly, his vision returned to normal and the ringing in his ears died down only to see that the hissing noise that had surrounded him was a thick smoke. Damn this woman and her bag of tricks. Astrid could be heard coughing in the mist, and calling out to him.
"Astrid! Are you hurt?! Where is she?" He calls out, caution thrown to the wind. Damnable hunter is probably tracking them with their voice, so he made a quick dash about seven feet to his left. "I'm right here" came a raspy voice from behind him, before unloading into the man. Two bolts struck him with one cracking his left forearm guard, and the other nicking him in the side. Luckily, his armour kept it from being fully embedded. Vikram pulled out the boltshafts from his flank and his shoulder, throwing them to the ground angrily before slashing at the fog behind him. Instead of the vestige of the huntress, he only found a small ball with a fuse rolling to a stop before him. With barely enough time to react with an expletive, it detonated, sending him flying ten feet back. Shit, this was dangerous. Only when lying on his back did he realize that his flank had begun to remind him of the cold that he had only experienced on the World Crown with Zarius. A raspy voice, the thunking of bolts into Vikram, an explosion, all nearby. Astrid whips around, trying to see through the smoke but she can't. She's glad she left Spicy with Charles. Gripping her hammers tight, she cautiously takes a step back. For all she knows, she could walk right into a wall. This smoke can't take up the whole arena, right? In an effort to get out of it, a bit of magic sparks, and Astrid moves at inhuman speed to get out of the smoke.
She emerges in with a trail of dust and smoke coming off her person and finally gets the bearing of her surrounding. The smoke cloud is just in a radius around the area she and Vikram were standing, but she can't see through it, and she can't see the champion. At most, there's a couple of vague silhouettes. She can't just throw her hammer in there, it won't know the difference between Vikram and Ceena! Suddenly, Astrid feels like she really should have taken some time to learn wind magic.
There's the clinking of glass and metal against stone at her feet, and Astrid looks down to see a small round object rolling out of the smoke toward her. That must be another- there's a fuse! Astrid Bullet Dashes away again just as the explosion goes off. The force nearly knocks her off her feet, singing her cape. If Vikram got hit with one of those full force, he's probably on the-
Three bolts fire out of the smoke at her, aimed center mass. The afterimages don't totally save her this time. Two bolts find purchase in her chest, but both are caught by her armor. The first one deflects off the metal cuirass, and the second pierces it but gets caught in the padding below. She has to stay on the move to avoid getting hit, so Astrid clicks her boots together, ejecting the metal blades that produce ice, and skating across the arena. As much as she wants to fly and attack from above, one shot to the wing will take her down...Except...
Wait, she gets a special ability because of her wings! So she flares her wings out, though keeps them tucked, and clangs her hammer against the buckler on her arm. It louds out a loud ringing sound that bounces around the arena and returns location information about living creatures. There's two in the smoke, though one seems laid out. Feeling a bruise from the force of the strike, Astrid looks towards the smoke. One silhouette seems to be facing her as the smoke is clearing. That one doesn't have a big round turban on the top. That's her target! It has to be!
Unwilling to hold back, Astrid whips her buckler off and flings it into the smoke like a metal frisbee full force into the smoke at the figure she's sure is Ceena. Then she launches her war hammer, hard as it is to see, as a follow up. Ceena might be able to see through smoke, but the Pale Ice enchantment on the war hammer makes it nearly invisible. So when the huntress ducks to dodge the buckler, she doesn't see the war hammer before it strikes her full force in the chest and knocks her down. Frost and electricity course through her chest. Her leather cuirass hardens from the frost and becomes brittle and cracks.
Clever play, girl. One more hit like that won't do any good. Ceena collects her tethered crossbow and gets to her feet only for the buckler and war hammer to make a second appearance and pelt in her the back, one right after the other. Bangbang! Ceena falls to a knee and if the smoke were clear, she'd look particularly irritated beneath the mask. This won't slow her down for long. The champion rips her broken cuirass off and pulls a vial from her bandolier, popping the cork and dumping the liquid down her chest and back. A numbing sensation covers her core, and she flexes a little. Anymore hits center mass won't be hurting her now.

Vikrams eyes opened to the smoke clearing from the battlefield. It wisped through the makeshift cage above the arena and drifted upwards as it met the wind in the sky. His body shivered with cold as he brought himself to his feet. Were it exsanguination he would feel worse all around, so that left either enchanted arrows, or poison. He sees Ceena's armour on the ground and her pour another potion all over her torso. Distracted, an opportunity! He was positioned behind her and too the right, and luckily for the moment Astrid maintained her attention.
He charged, scimitar high with the crowd screaming behind him. Ceena looked at the last second as he slashed across the wide of her back. A dull glow remained in the wound but for a moment after the slash, a remnant of holy energy that channeled through the sword alongside the grit of sand that remained, plastered with blood. The woman had barely flinched as the blade sliced through her, a not insignificant wound that surely would have sundered even a great warrior. Meeting her gaze he could see the narrowed eyes of a smug smile. Looking down he could see why, as she withdrew the blood soaked knife from his chest.
Stumbling backwards, he clutched at the wound. Bloody trickster, just as bad as Benethuil. He pulled his hand away to look at the damage, and witnessed his vision double, no triple as he looked at his crimson hand. His eyes began to roll back in his head with nausea and disorientation, another poison? A mule kick from the champion sent him further back, landing face first against the edge of the cage. He was sweating, fear and horror danced through his mind. Flashes of his torture by the Efreeti, images of the bloodbath that had seen him banished from his order, Benethuil cackling madly as he warped his mind. Overwhelming, it was all he could do to stay awake, the crowd at the edge of his vision blurred and their shouts dulled.
Slowly, from the edge of his vision, a light began to make itself apparent. It came from above, and as Vikram drunkenly tilted his head to find the source, he saw it. An Angelic being, A woman with gilded hair and flowing alabaster robes descended towards him with one arm outstretched. He reached his hand weakly through the cage, hallucination or not its mere presence gave him succor. As she reached him, taking his hand and bathing Vikram in her celestial glow, he could almost swear it was real. The warmth coursed through him, replacing the cold and the pain with the comfort of home. His eyes closed but for a moment, and then she was gone, and he had been healed.
After what had felt like an eternity, he turned only to see Ceena just putting her leg down after the mule kick. Maybe it had all been a hallucination, a bled and poisoned man imagining a saviour from above. But that certainly wouldn't explain how good he felt.Angelic Light: Light damage Art of the iron fist: (1/3) (2/4) Earth Damage. With the smoke clear, Astrid watches in horror the aftermath of Vikram's interaction with the champion. How did the woman not even flinch from the force of his weapon?! Ceena stalks toward Vikram, screaming in terror as he hallucinates. Without thinking, Astrid shouts out.
"Hey, Champion lady!" the girl shouts across the arena, banging her hammer on her buckler to draw the Champion's attention. "That's my turbaned friend ta beat up!" With that, Astrid's stare grows fierce, unwavering, and something Ceena can't turn away from. The unhinged champion's head turns like a puppet's head pulled by a string, shoulders twisting, followed by torso then hips. Beneath her goggles, there's amusement in Ceena's eyes. Her Sworn Enemy has her trapped in an unwavering challenge.
Sheathing her still-bloody dagger, Ceena hoists her crossbow up, some consideration on her face while the small, horned girl taunts her. How will she do this? Her fingers trace over the vials on her bandolier, dancing along the corks with careful consideration. Ceena sees the girl's goggles. Another blinding flash won't do much. She seemed to know where the champion was despite the smoke. Interesting, very interesting... The crowd's cheers seem silent betwixt the intense staring contest between the two of them.
Finally, Ceena's fingers land on a flask of Sleep Poison, and her eyes narrow with her hidden, wiley smile. If the girl wants to be the center of her attention so badly, Ceena will show her true pain. In one motion, the cork pops, the extract spills over the three loaded bolts, and the champion charges toward Astrid.
Astrid expects Ceena to charge her, at least in some capacity. The woman's a ranged fighter, though! Why would she try to get close?? The intensity of Ceena's eyes, the smirk that comes through full of nothing but absolute enjoyment catches Astrid off guard. Suddenly, Ceena lifts her crossbow and feints an attack. In a bit of a panic, the half-dwarf twists her skates and darts away, using a boost of Bullet Dash to get her further away. That's when Ceena catches her.
At the end of her speed burst, three bolts strike Astrid: two hits center mass, one bolt clangs off her pauldron. The two that hit her torso sink in past her broken armor and damaged padding. Something beneath the flesh gets punctured, and she's immediately overwhelmed by extreme pain. The girl's been injured before, but nothing to this extent. She coughs up blood, and suddenly the warm embrace of sleep overtakes her. Momentum carries her forward until her unconscious body collapses. Loosely held in her hand, her war hammer thrums as if trying to save her but can't Something blocks her access to magic.
Ceena, however, feels reinvigorated. A faint stream of green energy flows from the unconscious child into Ceena's body and the open gash on her back slowly closes up. Satisfied, she pats her crossbow with some twisted affection then stalks over to the girl, taking out a small barrel from her pack. The crowd chants for the champion to off the girl, and it seems that Ceena intends to do exactly that with a glorious explosion. After all, she can only focus on her. If a stab through the kidneys wouldn't wake the girl up, she'd do exactly that. For now, she settles on the explosive trap that she can set off at a distance with only a bolt.
The crowd's attitude shifts, though, when they notice Vikram back on his feet. Setting the fist-sized down beside Astrid's head, Ceena looks in his direction. She seems somewhat irritated at his recovery as she stands upright again.

"Ugh...Astrid...Astrid?"
Grogily he looked about the arena. There was a small barrel on the ground...a bomb? next to a bag. No. No...Astrid was unconscious next to the bomb... And Ceena stood in the way. Fully awake and consumed by rage, Vikram came back to his feet. "I would threaten you, but the damage is done. Please, find peace in your death Ceena." Pointing his sword first at the collapsed child, finding her now glowing with a dim radiance. The presence that once hid in his mind is now at the forefront, all defenses collapsed as light now consumed the periphery of Vikrams vision. Once the Celestials magic had completed, he raised his sword to the heavens. Closing his eyes, he concentrated the power of the angel into his sword, now wreathed in golden radiance. Immobile and defenseless, three bolts found purchase in his body, one shattered another earthen protection, another shattered the makeshift repairs made by Astrid earlier. The last found itself lodged in his abdomen, luckily no poisons seemed to be spreading as Vikram continued his meditation. Two more ice axes formed from the ceremony and dropped into the chains around his torso. His eyes opened to reveal Ceena reloading, and he began his assault. Wild swings of his blade found streaks of light flowing through the arena, slashing deeply into the bars surrounding it as Ceena dodged and weaved through the onslaught. Vikram hefted both of his axes, Tossing them with great force at the slippery huntress. Unfortunate positioning found the crowd booing him as they both landed, directly next to the sleeping child. Three more bolts impaled into Vikram's torso as he collapsed to his knees. The ground beneath her became a slick mess as the shards exploded outwards from the impact. Luckily, The few that found the bomb did not detonate it. Ceena landed her dodge and slid across the ice back towards Astrid, drawing her dagger. She sneered as Vikram frowned at her, looming over the child slowly coming too. She dangled her dagger menacingly over Astrids head as he held his sword out from fifteen feet away. "Forgive me" He said with a grimace, before heavily swinging a beam of light directly at the bomb. Ceena swings her dagger down forcefully at the last moment, the terrifying result of a Moongladean standoff. With her trap set up, Ceena watches Vikram stumble back into reality. How disgustingly haughty of him to imply that she would meet her end here. His sword glows now, though, and annoyed by his persistence, she fires off three bolts at him. One sinks in, and again, she feels invigorated, healed, and ready to destroy both him and the child. That should block his spellcasting, at least.
Or so she thought. The next few seconds do not go as she expects as she dodges streaks of holy light and both axes of ice. Ceena's irritation grows as she manages to loose three more bolts at the glowing challenger. But the axes explode upon impact with the ground. She loses her footing, and some ice shards find purchase in her armor. This has gone on too long. If he wants to play that way, she has no qualms killing a child directly. The girl joined this fight on her own, so who is she to hold back on a challenger of the arena?
Whipping out the dagger still dripping with Vikram's blood, Ceena holds it above Astrid's head and eyes Vikram with a challenge in her eyes. To her surprise, he takes it. Another beam of light rockets directly at her, and she turns her eyes down to strike the girl. Just before the explosion goes off, Ceena notices the golden aura protecting Astrid.
KABOOM!
The huntress' dagger gets blown from her grip, and she takes the brunt of the explosion. Ceena tumbles back, a smoking mass in the dirt. She's felt worse, though. The crowd's cheers support her as she pushes herself up to look at the child.
A loud explosion in someone's ear would wake anyone. Astrid's eyes flutter open as grogginess fades from her. She grimaces as she sits up, her ears ringing from the explosion. What's going on? What happened? She winces, feeling the two bolts in her gut seeping blood. Oh, ouch. Ow. Moving hurts. The black marks in the dirt beside her cause some concern, and she notices the golden aura around her person pulsing with energy.
As the sharp ringing in her ears starts to fade, she hears the crowd cheering, and she can see Ceena across the arena pushing herself to her knees. Then she sees Vikram collapsed on the ground with four bolts in his chest. No. No, no, no. How did that happen? The Champion should have only been able to attack her! Did her Mark's effect end because she was unconscious? This has to end! They can't go on after this!
Forcing herself to ignore the pain, Astrid pushes herself to her feet, pulling her hammers with her. Her war hammer thrums in her hand, feeling as if it'll burst with energy. It's a different feeling than the regular static cold she's used to - this is something warm. Something tells her it will help her. Cautiously, she touches one of the bolts in her side and winces at the pain. Just pull it out! Clenching her teeth, Astrid rips each bolt out one by one, bits of viscera clinging to the metal tips. It's sickening, and it hurts, threatening to send her to her knees. She's sweating, breathing heavily, and feels as if she's on the verge of collapse again, but the warmth from her hammer creeps up her arm and into the two wounds. A pulse of electricity and blue light stitches the wounds closed, and the pain fades. What? Astrid looks at the hammer in her hand. She didn't know it could do that... But since it has...
Both of Astrid's wings confidently flare out as if shaking off the last of the fog and pain. With the golden aura around her and light streaks catching the smoke and dust from the explosion, the girl looks quite angelic in the moment. She gives Ceena a hard stare before looking at the broken, blackened, icy ground around her. Whatever exploded beside her, whatever caused all this ice, none of it seemed to have hurt her any more than she was already hurt before. This aura must be doing something for her. So she'll take advantage of it!
Her skates still poking from her soles, Astrid propels herself across the arena and over to Vikram, her wings giving her a boost of speed. She skids to a stop, dropping to her knees beside her turbaned ally. It's the first time she's ever seen someone injured like this before. There's some panic on her face as she looks at the bolts in his torso. He's still breathing! What does she do?? There's no way her hammer will work whatever healing magic it had on him too. She remembers a potion she recently acquired and fumbles to pull it out of her bag. For this to work, she has to pull the bolts out.
"O-Okay, Mister Vikram," Astrid says through short breaths. "Stay with me. I'm gonna get these out, then I'm gonna heal ya with a potion, and then we're gonna kick that lady's butt together! Just grin and bear it!" Looming over Vikram, Astrid takes hold of the first bolt and tugs on it. That's not good enough. Tug harder! Wincing at the squelching of flesh and blood, the girl rips the first bolt out. Blood spills out of the wound more quickly with the hole unplugged. An unforeseen side effect. Hurry up! Don't panic!
As she works on the next bolt, three bolts make impact with her back, surprising her and nearly causing her to rip a bolt out at a bad angle. Whipping her head around, Astrid sees Ceena has shaken off the daze of the explosion. The Champion looks especially roughed up. Something Vikram did bypassed her armor and caused a lot of injury to the woman. More of that dark green liquid drips down one of her limbs. She's covered in dirt, caked on by sticky blood and flesh exposed and burned away by the explosion. She looks enraged beneath the goggles.
But the aura protected Astrid! So the girl ignores Ceena and turns back to hurriedly remove the rest of the bolts. There's audible frustration from the Champion as a child in danger turns her back on her. Finally, all four bolts are freed from Vikram's chest just as three more from Ceena's crossbow attempt to break through the protective magic. At this point, the aura around Astrid is pulsing more readily with angry, holy magic. And the girl herself is pissed too.
Turning to look at the approaching huntress, Astrid angrily shouts, "Would ya cut it out?! I'm tryna help me friend and yer just bein' a big, pissy baby woman!" With her riled emotions, the aura pulses more powerfully.
"I will send you both home in boxes," the Champion seethes through a wheeze as she pulls out her final explosive.
At this point, Astrid's on her feet, hammers in hand. "No. You. WON'T!"
The aura cracks with her voice, and suddenly an enormous explosion of holy energy blasts across the arena. Golden arms wrap themselves around Vikram at Astrid's feet, shielding him from the blast. Crackling whips of gold lightning target Ceena especially with each one a representative of the damage dolled out on the girl: six for the recent crossbow bolts, several smaller streaks for shards of ice, and one massive, angry bolt for the fiery explosion that would have otherwise engulfed and incinerated the child.
Ceena doesn't stand a chance. The explosive ornament in Ceena's hand explodes. Her crossbow falls from her grip. Holy light strikes Ceena. The entire arena is a shining beacon surrounded by shades of a crowd. When it settles, Astrid blinks away the floating orbs of white in her vision. Luckily, most of it was blocked by her goggles. The four puncture wounds in Vikram's torso each glow with a soft yellow light. When the lights fade, his wounds are sealed. Astrid breathes a sigh of relief and looks around.
Ceena is collapsed on the ground. The crowd is silent. The unexpected happened. Their long-standing champion was just defeated. No one knows how to process what happened, not even the announcer.

Dull moments of pain throbbed through his chest in his delerium. The blood loss was quite apparent, and Vikram faded in and out of consciousness. Soon enough, the bath of warmth and holy light pulled him from the depths, and returned him to the world. Blinking, there was only silence covering the arena, as a thin cloud of dust settled around him. Ceena lay mostly immobile across the arena. Astrid stood, apparently victorious. Knew she could do it. He lay there for a moment, hands patting at his wounds, seeing the bolts nearby. Good, had those remained in we would have several more problems. Grabbing the cloth on his mud tattered robes, he sat upright with a quickness. Standing with a typical grunt, he dusted himself off a bit. The murmurs of the crowd eagerly anticipating a finisher quickly rose from the silence, the announcer clearing his throat into a stick of loudness.
"Aheh...Well folks, It looks like quite the upset today. The, uh, Astrid Stormstone and Vikram Al-Bura seem to have...uh, defeated the Champion Ceena! Now, just need the finishing blow to declare victory!" Vikram strode forward to the young warrior, A swift pat on the back brings her out of the shock of victory. She turned to see, and he noted a cornucopia of emotions wash over from concern to joy and everywhere in between. "Good work. I'd say you've done that father of yours proud today. Now, you must excuse me, It's time to finish this properly." Pulling his hand off Astrids back, he returns his gaze to the Champion and advances. The crowd dies down once more in anticipation, as he draws his sword, levelling it to the huntresses eyes. She lay there, covered in drying blood and thick burns to the majority of her body. Her hand lay split open in several unnerving directions, as though a bomb had detonated still in her grasp. The idle twitches and impulses of her nervous system firing randomly throughout her body made her look as though an infirm old woman, having fits as she lay in bed. Her cold eyes stared back up the edge of his silvery blade, remnants of holy fire still burning within its steel. "You fought well""D-d-do i-it. K-k-ill""Fortunately, It would seem Solaria has blessed you with a merciful opponent." He stabs his sword down with a thrust, impaling it in the bloodsoaked mud next to Ceena's neck. He knelt down beside her, ensuring that the discarded dagger was not within reach, and placed a hand on her sternum. Her eyes flashed with both fear and anger as he worked. Closing his eyes, he channelled the light that roared in his mind towards the warrior. His metal plates and chains glowed with holy radiance that seeped towards her, not so dissimilar to her own healing enchantments. Exhaling, her wounds began to close. Burnt skin sloughed off to be replaced with fresh flesh underneath. Wounds shone with brilliant light and stiched themselves together. Her hand became engulfed in a ball of light, which dissipated to reveal an intact one in its place. Vikrams eyes opened back to see only anger in the woman, whose brand new hand shot up and grasped under his beard to squeeze his neck.
"You....Bastards" She muttered through gritted teeth, squeezing with all her might to crush the mans throat. Vikram reached out for his sword, pulling it out of the ground with a quickness, and bonked her on the head with the pommel of it. He gasped for air as she released her grip, now unconscious on the ground. He collapsed next to her, catching his breath, and praying that this was actually over. Massive Healing

Astrid finally comes back to reality when Vikram puts his hand on her. She's glad to see he's doing better, and while her hammer gave her a burst of healing energy, she is still quite exhausted. But... he thinks Cantio would be proud of her? A tired grin spreads across her face.
Her eyes follow Vikram as he goes over to Ceena, and Astrid decides that she doesn't want to see the damage done by the explosion, so she stands back while he reaches down to heal the mortally wounded Champion of the arena.
He does this despite the arena chanting, "KILL! KILL! KILL!"
Then Ceena reaches up to try to strangle Vikram, and Astrid suddenly jumps into action to defend him, but Vikram fends hers off and knocks her out, though not without him falling too. When she reaches him, he's on the ground gasping for air. Deciding not to trust this, the girl pulls her fellow guild member far away from Ceena and plops down in the dirt beside him.
The crowd's reaction to the pair is a mix of boos and cheers. The announcer's voice fumbles around the topic of their victory. "Well, folks, it seems the victors wanted to show some mercy to the old champion, so... Today, the Fighter's Guild stands victorious in the pits!"
"Ya know... I didn't think things would be this tough..." One hand subconsciously covers her new scars as she looks at Vikram. "But whatever magic ya did, that was fantastic. Ya saved us both, Mister Vikram. Thanks. I'm looking forward ta fightin' alongside ya again."

The crowds jeers echoed throughout the arena, as mutton bones and rotten tomatoes landed around the pair. Vikram stood firm, pulling part of his robe to cover Astrid from the detritus. While some applauded the decision, a significant portion had certainly come to see death, and had been robbed of two. Regardless, it was as though the affect of the crowd did not bother him at all, he had a cheery exhausted smile like a man who had just won a marathon.
"I agree, It is always a pleasure. Might be best we make a hasty retreat though. I find myself quite exhausted, both physically and spiritually." The door to the cage is opened by an arena handler, giving them looks of disgust as he passes the retreating pair to go drag the defeated champion out. Vikram ignored his looks, and found his way back to the fighters pit. Marven and Spicy awaited, one certainly more excited by the presence of their owners than the other. By the time they reached the two, it seemed more that Vikram was leaning on Astrid to walk rather than protecting her from the crowd. He slumped off of her into Marvens dense fur, inhaling deeply, still unable to catch his breath.
What she had said earlier in the arena, fantastic magics, she was not wrong. Disgust wrenched through his head like a weed ignored on a garden wall. Magic, and yet the golden puppet strings that compel him had grown stronger after that brilliant display. What entity had found purchase in the very soul that had despised its power so fruitfully. The glimpse he had seen in his delerium, could it...
Shaken from his hypoxic thoughts by a nudge from Marven, he stirred back to reality. Watching Astrid play with her demonic dog, he ruminated. He looked about for any eavesdroppers, before lowering his voice towards the girl.
"Astrid. If you...see me not quite myself. More magician than man, I need you to find a man named Zarius and bring him to me. Worry not about it for now, just...a thought." The worry was primarily an entity encroaching on his active mind, taking over and performing rituals and rites unknown to even the caster. There were few that Vikram trusted that could...end the problem quickly. Zarius, Shaa, even Kamille would be an option if it got to that point. He hoped it wouldnt. With much effort, he stood, and began to prepare Magnificent Marven for flight.
"Stay safe now! I wish you the best, It would be wise not to find yourself across from Ceena once more. I doubt our mercy will be returned in kind."

A tomato lands right on the point of Astrid's horn and splatters across her head. If she weren't wearing her goggles, the juice would sting. Annoyed but exhausted, she helps escort Vikram out of the arena back to where their furry friends and her metallic friend await.
Charles looks them over, and speaks up, "Mistress Astrid, report: You and Conscript Vikram exhibit signs of exhaustion and are covered in battle wounds and food remnants. Query: Do you require healing?" Astrid tiredly shakes her head. Whatever magic Vikram performed saved their hind ends. Charles continues, "Analysis: Proper rest and relaxation will restore you both to peak performance."
"Aye, we'll sleep well tonight," Astrid says, bringing Vikram to Magnificent Marven, though the man seems out of it. When he finally speaks again, his words concern her, and the girl's brow furrows over her tired eyes. "Bring Zarius ta ya..." Astrid looks up at Vikram, her eyes searching the bearded man's face for answers, but she finds none. "A...Alright. Sure. I know Mister Zarius..."
She watches with great worry as Vikram prepares himself for travel. Really, she thinks he needs sleep. Sleep and a meal. But he seems troubled. Maybe it was his brush with death today? The fresh scars on her stomach itch. Her brush with death. Usually, after winning a fight, she feels exhilarated. Today, she just feels... concerned. Scared, even. She and Vikram just won an incredibly difficult arena fight against someone who fully intended to kill them if they lost.
The weight of what she got herself into settles heavily on her shoulders.
She doesn't have the energy to fake cheerfulness. "Aye, I'll... do me best. And ya do the same." Her eyes glance back toward the pits. "I hope neither of us cross paths with her again. Be careful out there, Mister Vikram. Thanks fer bein' me partner today... I owe ya." At that, she manages a small smile and waves as he makes his way off.
Then, she looks down at Spicy Pawsage, who's been rubbing up against her side in some canine gesture of comfort and pets his head tiredly. "Let's get the heck outta here..."
Trudging her feet, Astrid walks through the town until she finally reaches the inn and her room. Without even the energy to eat, she collapses facedown in the bed. Her feet hang off, weighed down by her greaves. Charles observes Astrid for a moment, then he exits and returns a few moments later carrying a tray with a meal on it. When he does, Astrid has started removing bits of her armor and lightening her load so she can rest. At best, she gives Charles a grateful expression. It's the first time her appetite hasn't been large in a while, but she manages to eat at the BlitxtbotTM's insistence.
Finally, she sits in the corner where the bed meets the wall, wrapped up in a blanket with Spicy Pawsage curled up at her feet. Her fingers poke out from beneath the blanket, and bits of magic glow between them. Before her, Melodia manifests. She's immediately fraught with worry over Astrid's state, and it takes a bit of prying for Astrid to tell the full story.
The girl never unwraps herself from her security blanket. It's obvious she's missing the comforting arms of her father in this moment of hurt. Melodia wishes so badly she could be the kind of comfort and reassurance the girl needs, but there are limitations to her existence. What she can offer is her voice, so for as long as she'll have her, Melodia hums softly to the girl. It's a soothing sound, a lullaby she sang to the children in the orphanage to help them sleep. As Astrid dozes off, the magic keeping Melodia around fades.
Sitting on the couch of their home and kept cozy by a roaring, warm fire in the hearth, Cantio's day has been filled with trial and error. On the floor at his feet, a couple of reams of blue and white fabric sit half unraveled on the rug amongst scraps of cloth and scattered pieces of paper. Each piece of paper has a collection of doodles or notes and measurements for two doodled figures matching the proportions of Astrid and Blue Raspberry. (Some of the details he copied from Astrid's notebooks stuffed away in the basement smithy.) The majority of drawings seem to be some sort of costume or a pair of costumes.
For all the mess, the tiefling seems content, excited even, about this project he assigned himself. With the day drawing to a close and his fingers pricked a few too many times, Cantio decides to take a break and check in on Astrid this evening. Summoning a small mote of golden light in front of him, the orb floats to the center of the living space, and Melodia manifests in its place.
Surrounded by a general mess, confusion crosses her face before she looks at the smiling tiefling. "Oh, hello, Cantio dear. You seem to be...in good spirits." Does she dare ask what's going on?
"Good evening, Melodia!" Cantio says with a bright smile, folding his hands primly in his lap. His feet even do a little dance against the floor. "I wanted to see how Astrid is doing out there! Have you heard from her recently? How is she?"
Melodia's expression grows clouded, only briefly. Her years working with children helped her cover her worry with ease, but to another adult, it doesn't go unnoticed despite her friendly smile. "Oh, she's..." The phantom sees worry in Cantio's eyes, and she considers whether or not to be truthful for fear of worrying him. Deciding that trust and honesty are more important, she caves.
"She's safe, but her heart weighs heavily in her chest. One of these missions from the fighter's guild took her into dangerous territory, and while she and her partner came out victorious... It was not without its toll." Melodia looks to Cantio, cautious about her words as she continues.
"They fought a particularly nasty foe. She was quite injured in a way she's never been injured before. She's well now, having been healed by some magic, but she's shaken. In the moment, she was helpless, and that... has really taken its toll on her. I did what I could to support her, but..." Melodia looks at her transparent hands and arms, cold, nothing more than an image, unable to provide warmth. "...I expect she'll make her way home soon, but I think she could use some words of encouragement from you until then."
Hearing all of this, Cantio's expression drops. In his shock, his hands come to cover his mouth to suppress the soft gasp that escapes him. She's hurt? Well, no, she's not physically hurt anymore, but emotionally... His hands fall into his lap, caught safely in a net of blue and white fabric that bunches with each subtle, anxious movement.
It takes a moment for him to find his words, and when he does, they come softly spoken. "Tell her that I love her, and I'll be here when she gets home... And... And tell her I'm proud of her, and to remember that the scars are the proof that she's alive, and we learn from them." His golden eyes trail up to look at Melodia, who offers a small, encouraging smile in return.
"I think she'd quite like to hear that. As always, she sends her love." As the magic holding her starts to fade, Melodia offers Cantio her own reassurance. "I'm sure she'll love whatever it is you're working on. We'll see you soon." And with that, she fades.
Astrid wakes in the middle of the night, curled up and still sitting up in the corner. She's so tired and sore. Spicy Pawsage grunts at little at the movement, and she gingerly reaches out to pet him, her other hand rubbing her eyes and looking around the room. Melodia's gone... Right, the magic doesn't last forever. Feeling a little pang of loneliness, Astrid calls her back again. Or... she attempts to.
The magic doesn't pull Melodia forth like she expects, and in her anxiety, she starts to worry only to remember that this happens when Cantio's called on her. The thought of that helps her settle, and she waits patiently in the darkness until the magic brings Melodia back to her. The girl's eyes feebly look to the phantom woman before her, and Melodia offers a smile.
She gently explains that she was speaking to Cantio, that he wanted to check in on them, and she recounts the conversation in fewer words. But she quotes Cantio's words back to her verbatim. The fresh scars in Astrid's stomach burn at the mention as do her eyes. Tears well up, and Astrid wipes them away tiredly.
"Yeah... I wanna go home."
