"I'm okay to watch for a bit if you'd like to run to town and grab a meal, eating that might not be good for your gut y'know?" Socket remarked, hearing Zeras eating questionable things. The automaton strode through the shack without so much as a sound, despite the state of it's wooden slats. They began the long process of sorting and organizing the goods, trying to make the most of what the pair had swindled away.
The construct was thankful for the company either way. Another pair of eyes, ears and hands was indeed a boon when there was a mountain of work to do. Pondering the next steps, they unrolled the pair of velvet lined red cloaks, placed them on hangers and settled in for a while. Socket wandered the woods, quietly observing the surrounding area. Socket practiced their magic, martial and utilitarian skills during this downtime, stealthily keeping their mind and body sharp.
During this time, the sounds of creatures in the dark sang their nightly tunes, masking the sound of another person as they watched the construct. Little did they know, this person had been tailing the pair for some time, fulfilling their own contract as they slipped away from the shack and it's occupants to report the location. Socket leapt and dodged, fighting an imaginary opponent, oblivious to the watcher and their movements.

“Then I’ll take you up on that offer”. Slowly rising away from the questionable crackers, taking a quick last bite. Stashing the crackers in his pocket with minimal movements. Feeling a bit more of a bond growing between the two, the Tiefling walks around the shack towards the entrance. Slowly opening the creaking door, the noise coming from the door is very small, though it is there nonetheless. I’ll just grab some food and come back quickly.
Closing the door quietly, he takes a quick look left and right. Not seeing someone in the near vicinity, he starts briskly moving towards the liveliness of the city. Going through the port, starting to search for a quick and easy bite. Noticing mostly regular taverns or restaurants, then patting his wallet. Quickly realizing there is not much to be said in regards to the emptiness to be found in the wallet. A few coins. Passing different eateries, he has a weird feeling on his back. What’s going on? Walking in and out of multiple feelings, the feeling only begins to become more substantial as a feeling. I have no clue what this feeling is, but my instinct is telling me to not go back to the hideout.
Sighting a few food stands on the Main Street. Taking time to slowly stalk over to the food stand. Scanning the whole stand, reading through the name Sam’s Soups. Ordering a bowl of soup, costing him the rest of whatever was in the wallet. A few minutes later a piping hot bowl of soup finally arrived in his hands. The feeling separates from his body for a second, but then resumes a few seconds later.

Perched in a tall tree, Socket watched over the area while they rested. The goods had been sorted, now they just had to wait through today and tomorrow, then deliver the goods in the evening, and the job was done. The waiting was the part the construct worried about most. So much time to stay in one place, with a mountain of evidence below your feet... and so they kept vigilant watch, and made plans in case there was a need to defend the place.

"I founds em for ya, Boss!!"
"Tch.... At last, I pay yaz, and yaz does somethin' right!!"
"Yes, Boss."
"Go on, ya blitherin' fool, out wid it!!"
"Theys out on the old shack on the hill, out wayz past the gate. A red man, and some kinda metal cat thing... they gots the goods in the cellar I thinks."
"Well don't be thinkin' too hard, I don't pay yaz fer that and I ain't gonna either."
"Yes, Boss..."
"Round 'em up, we're not lettin' our reputation be ruined!" _______________________________
The night wore on, and the automaton recharged their batteries, rested and reset their body. They hoped Zeras was doing well, enjoying a hot meal and some rest as well.

Coming out of the soup stall, the lingering feeling is becoming more apparent. It is becoming all the more certain there is a tail on the young man. Not literally, but rather metaphorically. Seems to me, these folks can’t wait anymore. Rapping the fingers of his right hand down upon the quaint table off the street. A small smile, very minute to the point where one would not be able to distinguish such an expression if one were to not scan such a face for more than a moment. “Thanks for the food. Way better than the stuff in my home”. A voice that wouldn’t be drowned out by the festivities, yet one which would at least be heard from a person a couple of meters away. Rising up toward the Main Street, slipping past random strangers on the road taking care to scan his surroundings. Strolling towards multiple stores, there are a few figures he noticed following him around or in the very unlikely case these few are in need to visit these shops.
Finding a branching path off of the road, desolate with only the light shining off the ground. Walking on the path for quite a while brings a tiny amount of boredom. Are these stalkers a bunch of statues? Or are they truly not a small group targeting me? As soon as the thought comes into mind, a couple of figure pop out from behind. They couldn’t be called well dressed, because frankly these fools were covered in rags. There may be three of them, but they do not appear to be very successful criminals. Staring at the trio with a hint of blame, “I waited this long for just three pieces of trash? Does your boss underestimate me or is he plain dumb?”

The sounds of night began to fade, working it's way from the edge of town and closer to the shack that Socket was watching. The construct perched silently overhead, watching over most of the area without need to move much more than their helm. They glimpsed the first signs of movement as the sounds of night were fading to silence around them. Taking note, the lack of sound seemed related to their lack of stealth, alerting even the nightly creatures. Using their stealth talents, Socket was able to maneuver through the trees without much more than a whisper.
________
"Keep them eyes peeled ya lot... that machine is 'round, and we don't want to be stuffin' it's gullet."
"Tch..."
"With all this racket, it's a wonder we've gotten this close..."
"You don't.... think it knows do ya?!"
"Either it knows, and is plotting something, or it's little more than a fancy suit of armor with a puppet master pulling strings... I plan to find out... once we drag it's parts into town... "
_______
'Seems to be six or seven people, these four going first, and three more keeping watch on them... probably to make sure they're doing the job for the boss... now... what to do?' They pondered for a few minutes while the group made progress. The gait of the four men approaching the cabin told Socket they didn't leave the city much, and they weren't soldiers. The other three, the watchers... these three were different, they moved through the woods with the same silent grace that Socket could, though they didn't seem like combatants either at a glance.
The automaton let them approach, moving into position as they group shadowed each other closer and closer. Once the group closed in on the shack, Socket would be ready...

“Oi shut that mouth of you’s, or we’ll do that for ya!”
“Are you dumb or what? We’s gonna do that anyways”
“Ahhh both of you’s, shut up for me! Well, there ain’t much to say. The boss said to grab them, so go do that instead of flapping those jaws!”
The third speaker appears to either have seniority over the others or he’s the leader of the three. His clothes seemed a bit cleaner than the others, though it may have actually been just barely cleaner.
“Hold on. Before we fight, why don’t the few of you generously tell me who the boss is?”
“Heh, sure. You’re gonna see him after you lose, and you should understand your place before the meeting.”
“Yea, yea. That’s right. Listen carefully. Our boss is…”
All of a sudden the leader of the three whacks the other two on the head.
“Stop yapping and get to work.”
“I guess we have to handle it the hard away.”
The three of them were semi scrawny men, not many muscles could be seen on them. If there are any. There wasn’t much hesitation in their eyes when they commenced their charge against the red tiefling. So either they truly believe they can win or they have complete obedience to their big leader. There is the inclination to believe it to be the latter.
The three thugs come at Zeras as what could be described as an disorganized mob. The trio just running together in an effort to overwhelm the red tiefling in purely more people, not a hint of skill to be found. Zeras, already warmed up from his stretching earlier on the road. Dashes towards them at a high velocity, arms tucked into the chest waiting to be unleashed. The first of the trio throws out a punch twisting his body to add onto the pressure in his arm. Sadly, the punch is telegraphed from too long ago. It almost seems to be a painting, a weird one, though that only exemplifies the low speed it contains. Dodging the punch by moving to the left and switching his weight to the left hip while rotating towards the same direction, leaving his right arm out with his fist completely formed as a punch. Leaving that fist out in front of the foe’s face, Zeras utilizes the rotation to add on extra speed to the punch

An arcane word slipped from the construct, just as the first of the men was coming into reach of the door to the cabin. Five pillars of electricity formed a cage around the group, confining their movement and giving little arcing jolts to the ones who strayed too close. The most this would do is immobilize any given one of them, but it would keep them out of the real fight for long enough.
As this distraction enthralled those who were tailing, Socket dropped silently from a branch above the others. Using Cat's Grace, they caught a branch lower and used the rotation to increase the momentum they carried through. Colliding with a straight, powerful kick to the side of one of the shadowing figures sent them spiraling from their perch, impacting another close by. The pair groaned in pain, clinging to the thick limb shakily was the first, whose electrified side didn't seem to want to work properly.
The third of this group made a daring leap forward, a pair of slick, sharp stiletto daggers jumping into their open hand. Ducking low, the pair of seeking blades swept the spot Socket had occupied only a fraction of a second ago. Instead of trying to take the fight back, the automaton instead twisted with the crouching movement, gripped the roundness of the limb below and swung themselves about to the other side. The extra spacing, and the added moment to aim were instrumental in giving Socket the time to cast Bullet Dash, extending their arm stiffly out to the side. The speed that the automaton's magitech plates carried into the man's chest drove the breath from him in a sputtering cough before falling from the branch in a heap. A few moments later, gasping and battered, the three stealthy assailants fled the scene. ______ "Blimey, what's it fightin' there... jumpin' round in the shadows at nuffin'"
"Bet my leather jacket it's the boss' goons tailin' us..."
"Oi, they be gettin' a right good poundin' then."
"Would you stooges please shut up... We're next on the menu for a beating ya know?"
"...."
"........."
"oh....."
"....."
_______
Dropping from the trees after using so many spells in sequence, Socket was glowing, sparking along the seams and joints that gave off an electric, neon glow. They bounded over to the group locked inside the Lightning Lure that had started this chain of events. "Which of you ingenious bunch is going to explain in great detail what's going on here?"

Allowing the momentum of the body to carry out the movements of the right arm, having it propel right at the small fighter. As the fist makes first contact with their face, small reverberations climb along the Tiefling’s arm. After a small trip in the air, the fighter stays on the ground for a few seconds. Though his buddies start closing in on Zeras, with surprised expressions etched onto their faces. Evidently, they weren’t great liars from how they allowed their emotions to show up on their faces. Seeing their coworker sent flying after attempting to punch me by himself, they seem to take a quick glance at each other then nodding as if they came up with a plan right then.
So, soon enough the pair comes right in front of Zeras where they attempt to position themselves close to each other. Staying in a regular boxing stance with both arms up and his left leg leading, the scarlet man allows them to approach where he begins his preparation for the duo. The one on his right throws a regular looking punch while the one on the opposite side jabs at his chest, though it really feels if they truly coordinated when the damage the duo are attempting aren’t even lethal attacks. Deflecting the left man’s jab by bringing up his left arm and pushing away the jab by a slight movement of his forearm from his boxer’s stance. Quickly following up with a shove included with the full power of his left arm.
Now Zeras has his complete focus on the last person. Well isn’t this quite the coincidence, it appears to be the leader of the trio. A punch is a little more difficult to deflect away, yet the main difference is the force behind the punch which qualifies the action to become of a higher threat level. Watching it come closer, appears closer to a young student training their punches. Dodging towards the left, allowing the foe to fall forward with his punch. Realizing he missed, the arms starts to retract closer to the body. Before he could completely bring it back, Zeras rushes forward throws out a punch. In a attempt to dodge the punch, the thug starts to move to his right. Expecting the dodging movements, a fast jab chases his body where it connects to the pit of the stomach which stuns him for a second. Taking advantage of this momentary lapse in concentration, sweeping him off his legs by dragging his right leg out behind the other and quickly bringing it back. While in midair, a downwards punch is waiting for him. Crashing down to the ground, the fighter’s eyes begin to roll back while his mouth has a small bit of foam floating out.
Blazing a path over to the one which he jabbed earlier. Viewing the little fighter locking eyes with Zeras while coming forward. This time, he prepares a punch to hit him with. Hoping to make contact with the tieflings head, it is quite apparent where he is aiming. Slow and predictable. I suppose it isn’t great to expect great things out of people. Waiting until the man was in front of him to dodge, adjusting his head to the left with just enough space for his arm to miss. The tiefling wasn’t only waiting for a punch to be sent in his direction, he had begun winding up a punch for his arrival. Slamming into their stomach, followed by the sound of someone falling to their knees. Grabbing their hair, slowly pulling it up a bit before violently smashing it into the ground where blood starts to pool up.
And then there was one.

"...."
"we ain't squealin''
"Do your worst... you'll gets nothin'"
(sighs) "Da boss wants his stuff back... and wants you and your red friend to pay.... interest"
Socket stood by the crackling wall of electricity that confined the four men, each was armed with a different weapon and who knows what else. There wasn't much information in their words, but this is about the expected response from shady businessmen who's ill gotten gains are filched from them. As far as Socket was aware, the owner was a small time thug who bullied his employees into crime and drugs, but little else.
"Well, your boss' luck ran out this time... he's going to eat this loss, and the loss of his henchmen... you goons and the tails you were wagging along with you... you're going to spend some quality time with the legal system and it's many thoughts on your activities...."
They watched the realization sweep over the four, each face going from confusion, to recognition, to panic. As a group, they drew their weapons and shouted, screamed their rage and frustration at being duped and overpowered. They charged the electric pillars, and Socket behind them. As they neared, the pillars of lightning reached out and zapped each one still, stunning their muscles with electric impulses.
Socket concentrated, carefully building the effects of the spells in their headspace. Particularly challenging was tuning Lightning Lure to not fry whatever it touched. In a brilliant, sparking flash, the construct used Bullet Dash to get behind the four, then activated Lightning Lure's second effect. Five bright arcs of lightning connected from them to the pillars, catching the four men in a net of powerful current that overloaded their nervous system and knocked them out soundly.
Collapsed in a heap, Socket shook their head as they gathered the seven figures, lashed them to the cart with hands and feet bound behind their backs. A long night already, and it was still young... they would be putting in extra for this job, but it was worth the effort. Groaning, the bumpy road back to town jostled the group as Socket pulled up near the gate. They pinned a note for the guards, and slipped into the shadows silently. It was a long and someone tiresome trek back to the shack, and the automaton was glad for the reprieve. Using their talents could be exhausting even to a construct, draining their energies.
Finally arriving at the shack once again, they took up their perch in the canopy of the trees, resting comfortably and quietly in the boughs as they recouped the spent energy.
