Ray made his way back to the shadier side of town by flying across town, avoiding any areas guards patrolled and landing in a discreet section of the city. He met up with the youth he'd paid earlier, giving him another coin as promised and the boy ran off towards his home. Ray made his way through a shady alleyway and into a basement level speakeasy bar, the back room of which was being used to store stolen goods and plot the "big heist" as his compatriots had called it. Ray handed the bag off to one of his fellows and took a seat at the bar.
The whole establishment was around a quarter the size of the warehouse he'd just left. Lanterns on a few of the tables provided the only source of light, shining on rough stone walls adorned with knick knacks and other random decor. The crowd was rough, mostly made up of fellow criminals and destitute poor and homeless individuals. The air smelled of booze, greasy food, strong spice, and a slight bit of body odor. There were no windows leading in, but a backdoor did exist behind the bar. A piece of wood secured
'"Ay lad, looks like ya ad a roughn." The barman chuckled as he poured a glass of strong liquor for Ray.
"Just a fall, almost got frozen by a guard, then he just... let me go..." He pushed the drink away, not being much of a drinker.
"He wut? Letcha walk out with all that? Sure ya robbed someone, sounds more like beggin..." The bar man shook his head and poured a glass of tea for Ray with a disappointed look.
As Ray sipped his tea someone rushed into the bar, causing a commotion. It was the youth from earlier, breathing heavily and pointing back the way he came.
"Mercs headed this way! I ran as fast as I could, but it won't be long!" He quickly ran back out the door, pulling a scarf tight around his face as he went.
Well shit. Guess he'd been followed, or someone tipped the rich folk off...

Vikram was glad the old man schtick still worked. Despite all appearances, the glass and the boom at the warehouse had made it seem as though it were a coordinated attack by multiple individuals. The mercenaries that had been hired by the Sapphire Merchant had come running shortly after the thief had made off, and had inquired as to what had happened. It was a small fib, to say he had been overpowered and a few select goods had been had, but that had apparently been enough to start this manhunt through the district.
He followed from the sky on his flying carpet, legs folded and silent observing as they made their way down the street. Two swordsmen, a marksman, a filthy magician of unknown power, and a conspicuously dressed bald man leading the charge into the Bronze district. Vikram had attempted to lead them astray, but the bald one had sussed out the friend of a child involved in the original warehouse incident. They pointed to a bar down the street, a dingy establishment that blended in with the surroundings quite well. He landed aside the small crowd of mercenaries, his rug flying back up into a holding pattern around the area.
"Is this all quite necessary? It was but two bags of merchandise after all...""No! This is an insult to the boss, you old fool. Rats must be eradicated lest they infest the grain, this place burns tonight!" He shouted out, his fellow mercs giving a short cheer. It was unfortunate that Vikram was a man of his word, else he wouldn't have been here in the first place.

The bar was now a frenzy of commotion, most of the men involved in this operation were the sneaky type and a siege was appealing to none of them. A few even ran along with the youth without even so much as a word of well wishing to the rest. Of those that stayed behind there was Ray, the bar man, a middle aged female thief, and an older rough looking fellow. Ray was uncertain as to their abilities but he'd have to depend on them if this turned into a fight of any sort...
The three ran about the place in a panic placing the most valuable goods in small bags, making Molotov cocktails, and shoving a couple of tables against the front door. The rear door would be their hopeful escape route once they managed to secure the most important goods. Until then it was up to the small group to hold off whatever mercenaries were on their way.
Peaking through a gap in the boards that made up the front door the thief watched as the group of mercenaries made their way down the street.
"Looks like 6 of them, might be a mage among them..." Her voice was all business, not a sign of nervousness present.
"Hellish luck they'll find they've got... cornered animals are the most dangerous." Responded the older fellow, cracking his knuckles with a look of bloodlust in his eyes.
"You lot keep em busy, I'll move the best a this haul to the back and we can leave the rest to em." The barman interjected, smiling all the while. He seemed no stranger to excitement himself.
"You seem to have made some... quality... friends, Seeker" Qil's sarcasm was strong.
In this case he was correct, it did seem that he'd found himself among a rougher lot than he'd imagined. Perhaps the rest of these Red Rogues were not as benevolent as he'd imagined. In any case, the nefariousness of his allies was outweighed in his mind by the possibility of providing much needed support to the poorer folk of the city.
"Wanderer be with us, let's try not to kill anyone if we don't have to." He spoke in a bleeding voice. The only response he received was a few chuckles and a snort...

A harsh wind blew from the direction of the hideout out of nowhere, trailing all sorts of dust from the street and from within the establisment itself. None of the mercenaries seemed all that surprised, and a few moments later the magician danced forward and spoke to the bald one.
"Sire, there are four within, and several who run. Though it would seem they did not escape with much." The expensively robed man whispered to the captain. "Good, let them run. Archer, pursue them. Let at least one escape. Seeker, take point on the door, advance once we breach the entrance. Caster, begin the demonstration.""At once" The both of them stated in unison. The codenames they had been given felt a bit silly, but at least it kept Vikram from having to remember all of their names in the heat of the moment. The others, Sword and Blade, both assumed positions near the entrance, ready to charge in once they have been given the order. Vikram, or Seeker stood next to the door, still not particularly wanting to hurt anyone over a silly bag of goods or two. Seeker had been a title given to him by his order of hunters. Monster hunters, not people. With a few chanted words, Caster raised into the air, and begun his assault. He hovered aloft about twenty feet away from the entrance. With a pointed finger, he pushes his thumb down several times, perforating the door with invisible shots of hardened air. Afterwards, Caster opens a palm, and pushes forward. The force of the wind emanating from his hand explodes the damaged door inwards with incredible force.
Time to advance, it would seem.Caster: Master Sky Domain Air Bullets Push/Pull Flight Read the winds

Ray watched eagerly as the siege continued. Bags of goods were packed up, the most valuable first, and set near the backdoor. The group at the front was conversing, plotting the best ways to kill each mercenary outside. The whole scene was tense yet he felt unnaturally calm in it all. Perhaps it was a holdover from his bandit days, though back then he'd have been itching with bloodlust... This was more a feeling of calm amid the storm, as if his soul was sheltered from the stress abounding in the room, perhaps an effect of his bond with Qil.
The group at the door called back with no formality.
"Caster looks like air magic. Tsk, only good for runnin away." The man chuckled a bit before the door was pelted with bullets of air, blasting chunks of wood about the room.
After the first two shots had hit the two at the door ducked to the sides of it, the thief seemed unharmed but the brute was bleeding from his shoulder. He seemed unfazed, unaware even. Ray had felt some of the bullets whiz through his robe, leaving small holes in the fabric, as he ran to the side. No time to think was awarded them though as the door then burst into splinters that scattered through the room.
The thief pulled out an odd looking throwing knife, a cord stuck out from its handle and the blade appeared to be coated in a green oily substance. She deftly used her pinky finger to push the cord against a strip of metal attached to her jacket causing the cord, now revealed to be a fuse, to catch fire. With a quick movement she ducked out the door and flung the blade into the center of the group. The blade stuck into one of the swordsmen in the middle of the group's shield and exploded as it impacted it. The blast blew a hole in the shield itself and sent shards of metal flying among the group of attackers. These shards were covered in a poison that would cause painful swelling and stinging wherever it struck flesh. Her attack made the thief retreated behind a set of tables in the corner to the left of the doorway and hunkered down.
The brute simply remained next to the door, tucked away and silent.
Ray had begun to help move the most valued goods alongside the barman as the others held the entrance.
"Wanderer bless us with power as we go about your work." He spoke, aware of the grey area this work lay in.
The prayer was still yet heard and power infused Ray, the barman, the thief, and the brute imbuing them with increased power. They were nearly done moving the goods though he was now certain his hope of avoiding a fight had been in vain.
Thief threw a throwing knife with enchantments - Shrapnel & Poisoned - at the mercs Brute lies in wait to stealth attack first person to enter(he's a brawler/barb mix if you want to use any of this) Ray used inspiring presence to empower thief, barb, barman, and himself.

As Vikram turned to enter the dusty domicile, a sharp knife flies by and almost catches him in the nose. Luckily, it seemed to have missed the turbaned man and he proceeded with entry regardless, wary of another one to catch him unexpectedly from the dark. Behind him, the knife whizzed past Blade and Pommel and collided with the wall about five feet away from them opposite the doorway. It exploded into a cloud of glittering shrapnel, embedding several shards into Pommels back. His face twisted in agony as the wounds could be heard sizzling with acidic temper.
Vikram stepped through the doorway, and a moment of adjustment for his eyes found one, two, three people still within. He raised his sword, ready to challenge, before a thought crossed his mind. Didn't Caster say there were four? Never could trust magicians with any-
His thought interrupted as he was grasped from behind in a bear hug of steel, his own grip on his sword loosened and fell to the floor. With a heave, He was suplexed backwards with great force, the brute fulling bending over backwards to impact Vikrams head with the ground. Were it not for his turban, he would have been knocked out cold, and luckily after that the barbarian loosed him to deal with the other invaders.
Sword and Pommel entered one after the other, Pommel grasping his flank to suppress some bleeding. They throw themselves at the Barman and the Half-Elf, and the brawl ensues.

Ray watched with a mix of excitement and guilt as the first man entered, he immediately recognized him as the guard from the warehouse. The good hearted soul that allowed him to walk out with stolen goods had been drug into this siege by Ray's actions. The guilt turned to horror as Ray watched the Brute slam him turban first into the ground. Ray hoped he was alive, he could fix anything but death, and this man would receive his full attention once the fight had been settled. As the two swordsmen entered, one looking worse for wear, Ray dropped his sword. The blade clanged to the floor and the swordsman hesitated for a moment, looking down in surprise at where the blade had fallen.
The look of confusion doubled as the blade was not lying anywhere, having floated up and engaged the second swordsman to protect the barman from being interrupted in his task of gathering supplies. The first swordsman now wise to the trick moved to attack the currently unarmed Ray, swinging for his right shoulder with a powerful slice. Ray raised his wrist towards the blade as a shield of golden scales formed just in time to block the strike, displacing the blow and sending it off to Ray's right side. The shield itself shattered as the two impacted.
"Wanderer bless me with holy ability." Ray prayed in a hurried voice. Qil's presence seeped into the world as he spoke.
A set of golden antlers grew from his head and his eyes glowed with fiery white light. A shimmer of white flames filled the air to his right side as an arm covered in pale gold scales appeared where one had been missing, gripping a mirror finished scimitar aglow with holy light.
Ray swung with expert precision sriking the swordsman's blade with his first attack and sending it reeling away from his hand. With a quick follow up swing he struck the man's wrist, slicing a few of his fingers off. The lost digits plunked unto the floor as the man stepped back in agony, gripping the wounded hand.
The second swordsman was busy defending himself from a floating sword as the barman, now wide eyed in awe, continued to move goods about.
The Brute moved to attack the second swordsman from behind but was interrupted as another volley of air bullets struck him in the back. The wounds oozed blood and even amid his rage the Brute released a scream of frustration as the strikes threw him off balance. He turned to face the source of the magic volley, charging out of the bar and towards the mage despite his obvious advantage of being in flight.
"What are you doing!?" Ray's protests fell on deaf ears as the Brute left the advantageous position within the bar.
The Thief, sensing an opportunity, had drawn a separate set of throwing knives and begun throwing them at the distracted Mage. With a quick flick of her wrist she sent two blades, whizzing like some wind urged them along, sizzling into the Mages robes. At least one seemed to find it's mark, and the Mage felt the effects instantly as his magic failed and he found himself marooned on a rooftop with the raging Brute circling below.
Summary Ray allowed short saber to attack on its own, distracting Sword. Ray blocked, disarmed, and disfigured Pommel's hand. Brute was hit by air bullets and followed the mage into the streets. Thief used magic blocker throwing knives to score a hit on mage, causing him to fall out of the sky and onto a roof.

Captain sneered as the mage fell to the rooftop. Useless git. Waiting until the brute had turned a corner wait in ambush. He could hear the heavy footfalls approaching, the grip tightening on his sword, when the sound of a dagger hitting the wall right on the corner broke him from the anticipation. Only a single moment of confusion passed before a roundhouse from the Brute slammed him into the wall with incredible force. A soft "Howww" escaped as he collapsed to the ground, unconscious.
Vikram rubbed his head, lifting his eyes to see the chaotic situation before him. He heard the half-elf shout out as the Barbarian ran out the door, and it seemed that Pommel wasn't doing so hot either. This was ridiculous. These people weren't bloodthirsty criminals, It looked like they were just citizens trying to get by. This whole situation was hell in a handbasket, and even if it was against contract, he would put an end to it.
Focusing on the light within himself, he stoked the radiance and exuded an aura of radiance. Soft particles of light filled the dingy bar, like dust from a spice mill. Calm and confidence filled the individuals within, bringing reason forward when there had only been instinct. Hopefully it would be enough.Calming Aura inside bar Captain unconscious DT thief warning Brute about ambush

Ray and those left in the bar felt a wave of relief wash over them. For Ray it was a slight change, like a drop of rain in a full bucket, but for others it was more profound. Pommel no longer seemed worried over his missing fingers, Sword simply stopped fighting against Ray's floating sword, and the barman's pace calmed. The change was so obvious to all who were present that they each looked about themselves, searching for its source.
"The one from earlier, a bond is present..." Qil spoke with satisfaction.
Ray looked to Vikram, from whom an aura of visible ease shown. He needed to take advantage of this situation, they had a chance here to end this without any further violence, especially with the most dubious of the men now unconscious on the floor. Ray went to speak but was cut off by the barman himself.
"Adnan? The hell are you doin ere?" Sword looked over in confusion, before his eyes widened with realization.
"Uncle??? What are you doing working with a bunch of crooks?!"
This whole ordeal was getting more and more complicated...
Ray looked to Pommel as he picked up his fingers, delicately wrapping them in a cloth as blood still drained from their stumps. The Wanderer would not hesitate as he did. Ray stepped over to the man who prepared himself for death with a mumbled prayer. Ray placed his hand on Pommel's as the man winced at his touch.
"Wanderer heal those who find you with fate as their guide."
As the words left his lips the fingers in the cloth faded in a sparkly light while from the stumps new fingers emerged. The wounds on his side were also healed in the process, leaving no scars or blemishes.
"Gods above..." Pommel said as he held the hand up shakily to his face.
"Hold up now! We can either walk away from this together or half of us will end up lying dead. Whatever they're paying isn't worth killing folks just like yourselves, family members even." He motioned to Sword and Barman as he mentioned family.
Even if his plea was accepted there was still the issue of the raging Brute circling the grounded mage outside... They would have to deal with that when it came to it.

Thank the gods. Chaos brought back to a semblance of civility. The elf was right, there was no more need for violence here today. Vikram clambered back to his feet with the assistance of a barstool, the eerie silence inside disquieting. In a low voice, he offered his input.
"He's right. Let us leave here with our lives intact. There is a path out the back that our mage had mentioned. Be warned, we had sent an archer out to cover it before we entered the building. If one of you can help me talk down your friend outside, I can deal with the mage on the roof and we can all go on our merry way." The scrawny one that had been called Adnan stepped forward, accepting the call to calm the Berzerker. The rest began their preparations to leave the building, at least, he hoped.
"Be safe, Ad" Sword offered to his nephew, as he crossed the threshold outside. Bullets of air rained down, impacting the sand in front of them. "Seeker?! Why are you with the enemy? Stab him and assist me with this brute..." The well dressed magician called out, swooping low. "It's over, Captain is out, were pulling back." "Over?! No way, this is like shooting fish in a barrel! Look at me, I'm the captain now!" Another volley of bullets hit the berzerker as he blindly attempted to follow the flying enemy. Whistling, Vikram called out his carpet that had been floating around the area. He pointed at the source of the wanton spellslinging and whispered a silent curse. His sword whistling in the air as they rocketed towards each other, and at the point of impact, All vikram could see is the Mage's confused face falling to the ground. Steam billowed from his sword as he swiped it out, and sheathed it. The rest of mage's body collapsed soon afterwards, landing atop Captain in a steaming heap. The rest could handle it from there, he wished them all the best.Sworn Enemy Vikrams Veracious Velocity
