Moonglade wasn't known for having many mines, so when she heard that one collapsed, she was dissapointed. Kamille had hoped to go search for an ingredient that might be present only in the depths of the earth, which she may or may not have access to... through a mine.
The village was much smaller than Moonveil Village, which was saying a lot. It had only one tavern, where she went to ask for directions and received the terrible news. Apparently, the entrance to the mine was close to the river, it wouldn't be so hard to find if she followed on foot... but to what end?
"They be sayin' some of dem folks got trapped inside two days ago... The mine was already dangerous.... Lots of things sliding and weird rumbling, they say... But dem lot is very superstitious, they talk a lot, dem miners...... Can't believe everythin' they be sayin...."
The barmaid told her over a drink of what she called ale, and Kamille tried to believe. The man to her side, who was listening to the whole exchange, let out an angry grunt.
"Be quiet, woman. You know notin' of what it's like down der... Dere is sometin' there, Witch..... But ya can't go dere alone and expect ta come back. That's how dem got trapped there, for starts.... But maybe dere is someone 'ere who's perhaps short of a marble, just like you, who can go wit' ya..."
The mention of people being trapped inside the mine was enough of a good reason for her to investigate - and it was recent, so maybe there was still hope for those man. Even if her main goal was, in the start, another one entirely, she couldn't just forsake those men if she had the means to help.
After all, she had the Earth domain at her fingertips - might as well make good use of it. She just needed someone else who... how did he put it? Was also short of a marble? She chuckled, as she looked around in the bar.

"Come on now Lorrel, talking like that you're gonna scare off the travelers." Gerhart grinned and patted the disgruntled man on the back. In response, he just let out another angry grunt, picked up his drink, and walked away.
The young adventurer just let out a little laugh shaking his head, flagging down the barmaid for an ale himself. "Sorry bout him, just a bit leery of new folk in town. Took me awhile to get him to warm up."
He grinned widely at Kamille, thanking the barmaid for the ale before taking a drink. "He is right though, you'd have to find somebody pretty foolish to try and scope out a collapsed mine with you......Lucky for you most people say I'm pretty foolish myself...I haven't had a chance to scout the area yet, but always safer in pairs."
Gerhart seems to not realize he has just insinuated himself into the middle of this, but it does eventually hit him. "Oh sorry, not to just butt in! I'm Gerhart by the way. I do have experience as a tracker and I promise the weapons and armor aren't just for show."
He gives a soft and genuine smile, outstretching a hand for a welcome shake.

“Birds, why do you feel the need to chase those birds?” Sarris asked Fireclaw. “You know we were suppose to head for home before the storms started over the sea,” she complained.
The drake let out a puff of fire indicating that the wind and rain did not bother it. “There is a small village. Land there but do not scare people,” Sarris ordered remembering the last village that wanted to flay her drake. There was a wide enough path for them to land, well Fireclaw widened the path while knocking over some trees on his approach. The two of them were like a match in a saw mill with floating saw dust, both young and impulsive.
When they had landed, Sarris dismounted and headed for the tavern. She needed to figure out where they were and to wait out the weather. There might be a bard playing music or some food worth eating.
Walking in the door there was a farmer playing a fiddle, people drinking and a familiar face. Sarris did not even try to act like she was a witch. Fireclaw made enough of an entrance that she would be know as the crazy lady with the drake, destroyer of outhouses and fences.
Finding a spot by the fire she flopped onto a bench and waited for Kamille to speak to her. She had some new things to show her when there was time and space.

Kamille didn't look annoyed at the stranger's interjection - on the contrary, actually, flashing him a charming smile that reached her starry eyes. She reached out to shake his hand. Her gloves had claws stitched to the ends, but her general
"I don't mind at all! My name is Kamille, nice to meet you Gerhart! I would love some help... I'm not very good at scouting, but I can do some digging..."
Which was a fairly unusual statement for someone who looked like she never held a shovel in her life. They heard some commotion out there, the wind raging unexpectedly and then - Kamille opened a wide smile as the red haired girl entered the tavern. She didn't waste any time inviting her over with a gesture, waving her way and gesturing her to approach, while raising her voice to get Sarris attention.
"Ah! I see you've mastered the 'dramatic entrance' ability, Sarris. What brings you here, dear? Would you care to join us?"
She hadn't seen the drake yet - there was certainly a lot to catch up between the two. She once again turned to Gerhart.
"I'm sorry, I hope you don't mind me inviting Sarris over, she is my apprentice. It's been a long time since I don't see her... Sarris, this gentleman is Gerhart. He agreed on helping me find the way to the mines. I've been wanting to get down there, but it seems there was some sort of accident and they collapse. Some people are trapped inside."

Gerhart's eyes drifted towards the noise outside of crashing trees before he pulled his attention back to Kamille. Though, his attention was split between the pretty face and the strange disturbance. For a moment he thinks to excuse himself to go investigate it, but on one hand he had already agreed to help with this and on the other hand the way Kamille didn't react made it seem much less immediate a problem than he had initially thought.
"Oh I don't mind. Many hands make for a lighter load or something to that extent." He grins with a gentl laugh." He gives a wave to Sarris as she walks over, again offering a hand in greeting.
"Finding people is my specialty...one of them at least, the most useful here." Gerhart smiles once more as he drinks from his ale while Sarris and Kamille likely take a moment to catch up.
Given they were master and apprentice and it seemed there had been some time between them, he was more than patient to give them a chance to catch up. Mine collapses are terrible, but it didn't sound like it was something catastrophic so he didn't imagine they were at risk of dying any second. Ginma's blessings did he hope he was right on that front.

Sarris smiled, stood up, and approached the pair. “I only get the dramatic entrance when I do not want it,” Sarris replied cheerfully. “We knocked over a water tower the other day,” Sarris said as if it was not a big deal. She shook Garhart’s hand from a bit of a distance but she smiled politely. “We managed to get it put back up with some help,” she concluded.
She sat on an open bench and pulled her skirts in.
“I would be willing to help. I have explored a few mines around home,” she said. In an unusual statement adds, “I do not know much about mines and mining. I can heal a little and I try to be helpful.” Normally Sarris would not admit to not knowing something. That was one one of the things Sarris learned early in her training. That and concentration to focus her magic. She still would not admit to most she had a hard time reading anything but Elvish, Kamille already knew so did Sarne.
“I am sure you have mose skills to offer or Mistress Kamille would not have taken an interest in you. She collects interesting friends,” Sarris said with a bit of a teasing tone..
Looking at Kamille she showed her the silver ring that had the Light Elemental and the ruby necklace that was cursed. “I learned not to put on a cursed ring… but the elemental acts like a guardian,”she added.

Kamille shot Sarris an aproving look. Everytime they met, she felt Sarris seemed slightly different in someway she couldn't pinpoint exactly. It felt good to watch her progress like that, even if deep down she was still the sassy red-head she always knew. The Witch frowned slightly. " We? 'We' as in you and...?" Kamille still didn't see or know Sarris' dragon, so she could only guess. She looked over to Gerhart, and then to Sarris. " Looks like we have a good team, then. Gerhart knows how to find people, Sarris can heal people, and I.... Well, I'll contribute somehow. Would you guys object to leaving already? I wanted to get some progress done before it gets dark, if possible." Standing up from the bar, she walked over Sarris to take a look at ring and the necklace, squinting her eyes at it. "If you ever need help in understanding this, I got some people that might help... But I guess this will remain for another time. Gerhart, do you have any lead on where the mine is? I don't know this region this much, so I'm assuming we'll be taking your lead?"
Meanwhile, Mischief had flown back, into the tavern through the window, cawing in distress. The raven perched up Kamille's shoulder and flapped his wings, annoyed. He looked so distressed he couldn't even put the words out - after all, it was the first time Mischief saw a dragon, and it seemed he didn't like it.

"With some hope and a bit of good luck we can save the healing for the miners if need be." Gerhart tosses back the rest of his drink with a sigh before standing up. "I don't know about how interesting I am, just trying to do my best." He gives a sheepish smile, rubbing the back of his neck as the unfamiliar feeling of being complimented and tease settled in.
He gave a small, awkward cough to knock himself out of it as he gathered his wits. "The locals say it's a bit of a walk from here, due east. Shouldn't be too hard to find though."
Whenever Sarris and Kamille were ready, he would let them out of the tavern and along the road. There was a path to follow for awhile, which made following this trail easy to find. "Deep grooves here....well traveled....must be a pretty valuable mine if it's getting this much activity."
He pointed to the grooves in the ground from wagon wheels coming back and forth along the trail. It was almost embarrassingly easy to follow along the trail, but given the nature of the job this was better than struggling to find them.

Sarris smiled with a blush as they left. “We as in myself, Prince, and Fireclaw,” she said as if the last one was about as small as a puppy. “He is one of my new pets,” she added. “I found him…” she said as the Drake popped into the window and snorted. Patrons in the establishment and Mischief all acted as if the Drake was going to eat them.
“Okay, he found me. But, I healed you.” She said to the Drake.
With a little flourish of her hands she did introductions, “Mistress Kamille and Master Gerhart, let me introduce yo to Fireclaw.”
She turned to the tavern and announced, “He has been fed and he will not eat you unless provoked.”
When they left, Sarris had a bit of a hop in her step. She liked the way that is made her skirts swish and sway.
As they traveled, she listened to Gerhart’s explication and looked at the signs he pointed out. She gave his all the attention she could mustard. She might have been trying to capture a little of his attention, maybe even slightly flirting. She did like to learn things, and she had learned living with lots of men, their need to be appreciated by women made a big difference. Sarris had listened to the how to properly sharpen a sword talk so many times, she could give it. But the young squires and knights wanted to be seen as smart, even heroes.
Sarris was highly chaperoned. The large Drake that came along limited the effectiveness of her seeking attention. A crash of a tree tended to draw one’s attention. It was not that she wanted to be in a relationship, she just wanted to be noticed.
“So what type of mine is this? Is in a cave system or a shaft?” She asked

Kamille looked fascinated by the dragon, even eventually approaching to touch him as long as he seemed okay with it. Mischief was scandalized, flying way above them or landing much further than he used to, piercing the dragon with a jealous gaze.
"I would love to hear your and Fireclaw's story in details anytime soon, Sarris. Maybe after this, over some ale?"
Kamille left Sarris and Gerhart walk ahead, trying not to smile too wide upon seeing her apprentice's demeanor changing slightly. She gave them space, walking behind under the pretense to stay close to Fireclaw. Truth be said, she rarely ever got the chance of seeing a dragon this close - without it trying to murder them, of course. And she liked animals, something most people seemed to forget about her.
She was also paying attention to what Gerhart was saying and pointing at. Despite living in Moonglade for some years now, she hasn't been to this part of the region. If she wanted to keep protecting Moonglade - which was a funny idea, she never signed up for this, she just naturally slipped into the position -, she better know all of it too.
Kamille tried to get to some of his knowledge of tracking, staying behind to take a closer look at things as Gerhart guided them. Indeed, the trail was a busy one. She wondered what kind of accident happened at the mine for the miners to get trapped inside. Maybe something of natural causes? Some sliding?
Or something else?

Gerhart was a mix of trying to stay professional and letting the flirty attitude of Sarris work on him. He would do his best to hide his blush or focus on the task at hand. It wouldn't be hard for either of them to pick up on the fact that Gerhart was not trying to talk down to them when explaining anything.
"I think it's an iron mine, pretty good veins too...should be a series of cave tunnels from what I remember." Sure enough, he would be proven right as they arrived to the mouth of the mining cave. The abandoned carts and pickaxes showed it had been a few days since anyone has traveled here.
Gerhart looks over the tools a bit, peering into the darkness as well. He'd look back to the other two, hands on his hips. "Been a few days, with the way things look I'm imagining some sort of cave in....let's just hope they are trapped behind the wall of rocks and not under, that certainly wouldn't help the job." He gives a nervous laugh, clearly trying to remain cool and impress both of them being the very young and dumb adventurer that he is.
"I can just start uh, heading in there unless either of you have better options. I don't know any spells or such, so I'm sure there's always a smarter way than my option."

When they arrived at the mine, Sarris did her best to stop flirting. Sarris looked around at the site and noted what a mess it was. The ground was torn up from heavy carts and wagons and to her surprise there was a lot of mud and areas that were hard packed mud that would twist an ankle.
The mine entrance was not massive like at the Grey Citadel where slabs of rock were moved. Here people had to duck to go down into the abyss and the darkness.
“Why would they leave it like this?” She asked picking up a couple tools that were scattered on the ground and moving them together. “It looks like some of the miners ran away,” said. “I can mend some of the tools if we need to bring some down with us,” she said picking up a pick handle and looking at the state they were in.
Very few animals could tunnel through rock, none that Sarris had encountered yet.
From the tunnel a small flight of bats flew out twisting and weaving in their blind flight catching insects on the wing.
She gave Kamille a little worried look. Tight dark spaces were not something that Sarris enjoyed.

Kamille stopped with Gerhart and Sarris at the entrance of the cave - and while she didn't share the anxiety of closed spaces, she could sympathize. And she had to admit it: that darkness had an ominous feel to it she couldn't quite understand. The Witch gave Sarris a reassuring smile. " Don't worry. We'll find them, and come back safely." She went over to where the tools were, and even if she paid no mind to the pickaxes, she did find what she wanted: three small torches, which she passed along, one for each of them. With a snap of the fingers, a sparkle manifested between her fingers, flying over to the torch. In a few moments, it was burning up as if it had been for hours. " Sadly, I believe Fireclaw will have to stay behind. We should probably stay close, though." After helping lighting up their torches as well, Kamille seemed ready to head in, straight on, with no semblance of a plan. Or maybe it was too much to say that, as she gave it a thought before grabbing some rope that was sitting among the miners stuff. She probably couldn't use an pickaxe effectively, but ropes could always be helpful.
Even Mischief flew back to her shoulder and looked curiously to the darkness before them, expectantly, unusually silent.

"I doubt they chose to leave it like this." Gerhart took the torch with an appreciative smile, taking the lead through the tunnels.
He kept an eye to the tracks, trying to follow the most trafficked tunnels. It was strange how quiet it was, no sounds of muffled cries for help or any life at all. Noting Sarris' uncomfortable nature in the tunnels, he did his best to steer around particularly narrow sections and kept too the wider tunnels. The silence of the cave began to eat at Gerhart, a man who has made a reputation of not knowing when to be quiet.
"I mean the good news is....so far no screaming, claw marks, or blood. That's a solid plus on our side right now." A bit of a laugh escaped just to fill the dead space.
Weaving through the tunnels, Gerhart eventually led the group to the suspected problem. The tunnel in front of them was suddenly choked off with rubble and debris. This was a good place to start their investigation Gerhart figured, the area looked recently traveled so it stood to reason this was the place that trapped the miners.
"This has to be it. Should I start just moving rocks then?"

Sarris took the torch and smiled. She was not going in alone and she was not that scared little girl. “You need to stay near by,” she told Fireclaw.
The tunnels were dark and the torch light made shadows that danced on the walls as they moved. There was the occasional sound of rats scurrying around the tunnels. There was also bat squeaks. This did not make Sarris nervous. It was the ghost in her mind of a man trying to grab her in a dark small place that was still there.
Sarris was almost a totally different girl here, no flirting and teasing. She kept distance from others and was always scanning for danger.
The comment about screaming, claw marks, and blood earned Gerheart a look that indicated Sarris could provide all three if he wanted to continue down that path.
The ground rumbled a bit as deeper in the mines larger rocks fell in deep chambers. Small bits of dust and stone fell from the ceiling and the walls. Sarris moved near the wall out of instinct.
“Mistress, do you think an elemental might help move the debris?” Sarris asked. She had not used her element like that before since she learning to summons it.
