Shun's claws and the trickery he mentioned only reinforced the notion that this one was of a darker variety, whether by their choosing or not. He was glad they were on the same side for the moment and hoped that wouldn't change.
"A ghost to help us??? What in The Wanderer could this girl be talking ab- Holy..." Ray's internal dialogue was silenced as the ghastly form appeared, his eyes opening in surprise as his jaw dropped. This child was full of surprises.
As the being spoke to them Ray maintained his surprised look, trying to understand the situation. As the ghost returned and provided scouting information he was again flabbergasted.
"Seeker, is undeath truly a surprise to you? You who house a celestial that speaks to you at this very moment?" Qil sounded condescendingly sarcastic in his delivery.
It did help Ray to put things in perspective and realize how normal this sort of thing had become. He collected himself and thought over their options once more. Running into the fray while the demons and cultists were distracted seemed optimal. Perhaps it would give Shun a chance to operate from the shadows at first. It seemed smart, a middle ground between a haphazard rush and a slower approach.
"Alright, it's a plan then. Ghost lady? Can you distract those lot there while Astrid and I close the distance? Shun, you stay hidden and do what you do best." Ray said, though he still didn't know exactly what they did best.
"Oh, of course, you'll know when!" Melodia was gone and all was quiet for a moment.
Then, on the opposite side of the cultists and demons as the party, a faint voice could be heard. It sounded like a mother scolding naughty children, full of "you should be ashamed of this"es and "Your mother's raised you better than this"es. Ray had to stifle laughter as the group of cultists seemed to change from confused to insulted.
With the group of cultists now distracted Ray rose from their hidden position and began to dash for the closest cultist, the one farthest away from the temple. If he could get in close before they realized it whatever magic they had up their sleeves would be less of an issue. Rushing across the rough terrain and approaching from behind the camp and its tents Ray drew his saber and allowed Qil to manifest slightly, just enough that his arm would return, bringing his second blade with it.
"Wander, strengthen our arms against the encroaching darkness" He prayed under his breath and a holy energy filled him and his companions with strength.
Things were about to get intense.

Miss Melodia's sudden appearance startled me. She was obviously a ghost, with a mind but not a body of her own. I was left with little time to linger on the thought as she returned and our discussion continued. We head out to battle and and something a little more than adrenaline filled my veins as I heard Ray mutter something under his breath. Magic, probably, lent me extra strength. Unfortunately, I don't really have much competence in using physical strength. 'Do whatever i do best,' huh? Considering what I did best was cause distractions (for all parties), run, and tell stories, I generally didn't have much merit in a fight. Unless there's a high concentration of demonic for in the area. Man, the Lava Pools were a time. So, at first I opted for the 'stay hidden' bit of Ray's suggestion, flying high above the brewing battlefield to take in what was happening. They were competent fighters, but what was effectively two and a half against five weren't great odds, so I tried to figure out how to intervene. I watched them with their weapons whirling, aglow with a tint of magic. Then it sprung into my mind. That chant from the Ash Lands. "Do what you do best", he'd said, and so I raised my flute to my lips and began to play. It was my own take on the chant, adding a shrill melody to its drunken tempo. My eyes wandered the field for my target. Considering this is a Tiefling song, it might be risky choosing a demon...There. That one. I focused on them drilling holes into the back of their panicked head as they emerged from their tent and joined the fray. He whipped around in a frightened manner, undoubtedly trying to find the source of mental intrusion, lashing crackling bolts at anything that moved.

With Miss Melodia distracting the cultists, Ray charges forth. As Astrid follows, she feels invigorated by Ray's spell and confident with Spicy Pawsage the hellhound at her heels. She whips both of her hammers out. There are two cultists closest to their starting position and two fiends distracted by Melodia. One of the fiends swipes up at the ghostly woman, and she floats up out of the way.
Now that Ray made his first strike, Astrid charges in and catches the nearest cultist off guard. With her Bull's Strength, heavy, icy, electrified war hammer, and her silvered battle hammer on a cord, she slams both hammers in tandem into the side of the cultist. Buffed by Ray's spell, she nearly crushes the entirety of the cultist's ribcage. He crumples, and the devil beside him looks at her, confused. Grinning awkwardly, Astrid immediately turns to fling her war hammer at the far cultist then whips her silvered hammer up to hit the underside of the jaw of the devil. With the silver enchantment, it hits even harder than normal and burns badly.
The far cultist, tipped off by the two attacks on his allies, narrowly manages to dodge the hammer, which flings past him. He laughs at the miserable miss (though Astrid is already distracted by the devil) and casts Summon Seedling on his fallen ally to heal his wounds. A tiny flower sprouts on the shoulder of the downed cultist, but the healing magic likely won't be powerful enough to uncrush his ribcage. The cultist on the ground isn't down for the count yet, and he feebly raises a hand to cast Dark Binding on Astrid. Distracted by the devil swiping at her, Astrid gets caught by the bolt, and the black energy strikes her and constricts her body, holding her in place.
"Ack! What?!" Astrid exclaims, struggling against the magical restraints.
"N-Now!" the dark cultist sputters, looking up at the devil. The devil roars angrily and casts Heat Cloak on itself. Suddenly, it's red body becomes red hot, radiating intense heat. The air becomes thick, suffocating, and unbearably hot. Astrid finds herself unable to escape this situation. She bit off more than she could chew. Whoops.
Melodia, floating above and watching the situation, feeling her ties to Astrid threatening to fail, calls to Ray. "Paladin! The girl!"
Seeing the shadow on the ground of movement above, the devil nearer Ray looks up and spots Shun flying above. It plants its feet and sends a bolt of fire off into the sky, aiming for the avian.
Astrid attacks Cultist B then throws her war hammer at Cultist C. Cultist C attempts to heal Cultist B. Cultist B restrains Astrid with magic. Devil 2 casts Heat Cloak. Devil 1 shoots Fire Bolt at Shun.

Ray's charge alongside Astrid and Shun into bloody battle was as hectic as he'd expected. The first cultist seemed to have some sort of mental break in front of him, shooting off energy in every direction as he approached like he was fighting some invisible enemy. Using the opening Ray made a powerful slash at the distracted cultist's neck. The cultist seemed to turn to him at the last moment with a face of terrified apprehension as the blade approached. Raising an arm he attempted to block the slash as rocks rose to form onto his fists. His reaction was too slow and the blade simply sliced through his upper arm, leaving a stump burning with holy energy as the man recoiled screaming.
A call from Melodia turned Ray's attention from the now preoccupied cultist to his allies predicaments. One was about to be given a very warm hug and a cultist prepared a fireball for the other. He'd have to push his advantage later, now was the time to protect his allies. Thinking quickly Ray charged towards Astrid's position, letting go of his sword in his left hand which floated along beside him. In it's place he summoned a buckler formed of pale gold and flung it towards the fireball's trajectory. The two projectiles met and an eruption of flame burst from the impact site, almost reaching Shun's flight. The buckler could be seen flying away in the distance before shattering and evaporating as glittering energy.
With Shun taken care of Ray re-focused on Astrid. The cultist who'd casted a healing spell on his comrade spotted Ray's approach and raised his hands to cast a spell. He couldn't let anything stop him from reaching Astrid, raising his sword he pointed it towards the mage and a screeching ball of energy hissed down the blade's length and fired off toward the cultist at lightning speeds. Just before he could finish his own spell the ball of energy struck him in the chest, blasting him off his feet as a concussive BOOM echoed across the battlefield.
"Come on you fiery bastard, fight me!" Ray screamed at the beast, causing it to turn away moments before turning Astrid to ash.
The demon inhaled and blasted out a large cone of flames from it's mouth towards Ray. The fire engulfed him fully but he charged despite them. His training allowed him to absorb magic from spells, and so he burst forth from the spell invigorated. Raising his holy blades with a face full of excitement and the full visage of a celestial he buried his smaller saber into the beast's shin, causing it to roar in pain and stagger away. He raised his other saber to strike the beast down - just as the second demon who'd been in hot pursuit slammed into him from the side. The force of the impact sent him flying and he landed skidding across the rocks with some serious bruising and a broken arm.
Rising up to his knees he saw the two demons approaching together to finish him off.

HOLYGINMAHOLYGINMAHOLYGINMA this was as bad as trying to escape the Arid Mesa. Arguably worse, since we actually had to take these guys down. I was lucky that Ray had such good reflexes. Well, at least I know that that spell works. The cultists who I'd influenced was knocked back by Astrid's hammer, and then weakly counter attacked his assailant by binding her. On Ray's side, I could see him fending off two demons and a cultist at once. Wow, competent people are really something. Of course competent didn't mean invincible, and I could see that the were both in a pickle. Ray was on his knees, and Astrid was at the mercy of a delirious cultist. The cultist who'd healed the nearly disemboweled man also got bound by his patient for getting too close, so I decided that Ray probably was in more imminent danger. I swooped in, going for the demons that wasn't glowing with red hot magic, talons on my feet raking across leathery flesh, gouging surprisingly deep into thick flesh- Ray's enchantment, I'd assume. The cut was deep enough to definitely cause pain, but not cut anything important. Pushing with enough force to make the demon stumble in surprise, but not fall. I growled in frustration, letting out a little screech before ducking into Ray's shadow and picking up my flute again, ready to manipulate which ever one decided to attack first. With Shun and Ray's attacks on the cultists and devils, Astrid manages to get free and get some distance before being crisped like a potato chip. The heat of battle is too much to give thanks, though, as things are breaking into more chaos. With little time to take stock of the full situation, Astrid decides the cultist who can bind and the one that can heal are both a problem.
"Spicy, that one!" she shouts, motioning towards the now-bound cultist with healing magic. The hellhound charges the cultist, tusks poised for pain, and gores the man in the thigh, taking him down. He screams in pain, and Spicy Pawsage gives the cultist a taste of hot sauce by breathing fire into his face. Astrid does not watch, because that's a gruesome scene and she's also busy smashing the grounded, injured cultist who fired off the Dark Binding and putting him to sleep. Forever!
With those two handled, she looks to see Shun and Ray trying to deal with the devils. It's hot over there, and the exploding fireballs, fire bolts, and heat cloaks make the area uncomfortable to turn towards. So instead, she readies her hammer and lets her war hammer sail across the battlefield to strike the devil with a wounded leg in the back. The heavy hammer shocks the devil and flattens it like a pancake thanks to the extra umph from Ray's spell, setting the paladin up for a good finisher. Then Astrid charges in with her battle hammer to help with the other devil.

As the two devils approached, the wounded one seemed to burn hotter than ever. Approaching with a look of sinister satisfaction as the other, less wounded, devil yowled in pain as Shun swooped in for an attack. At the same moment a loud thud rang out as the crippled devil was slammed in the back with Astrid's hammer. As it fell face first on the ground near his feet he felt a wave of relief rush over him. Two distracted devils were much better odds.
For now he ignored his broken arm, using his good arm to rise to his feet he rushed towards the devils once more. His swords burned brighter at the prospect of dispatching the fiends. The larger saber descended like a guillotine on the downed devil's neck, slicing through and singing the severed bits with holy fire. The smaller blade rose in a twirl catching the heavy clawed arm of the second devil before it could gore into Ray's shoulder. The holy magic flowing from the blade singed the creature's skin, causing it to recoil.
Before he could counter attack a wall of stone erupted from the ground between him and the devil. His saber slashed into the stone, chipping a hunk away. The first cultist had somehow managed to use magic despite missing a whole arm. The devil now blocked off from Ray turned to Astrid and fired a bolt of fire in her direction.
"We've almost done it, stay sharp!" Ray shouted to his companions
"Seeker, the temple!" Qil's shout turned Ray's attention to the entry of the temple itself.
From inside emerged an enormous devil, twice the size of the rest with longer claws, large twisted horns, and leathery black wings. The creature roared a horrific cry and took flight, rising into the air above the battle. From its shadow stepped a cultist with an aura of death and hatred, his eyes were set in a scowl and his mouth twisted into an awful smile.
"I see you've all been given quite the welcome, let's see if we can't extend your stay... indefinitely."
He raised a staff of black iron topped with a red gem atop it. From the gem a haze of distorted air flowed, streaked with red lightning. The energy spread across the battlefield, reaching the dead cultists and the headless devil, even gripping onto the armless cultist. The recently dead men rose up on shaky legs, eyes focused on their nearest adversaries. The devil seemed to writhe and quake with some unnatural force under its skin. The creature rose as its muscles bulged and quivered, bursting from its skin and erupting into a tumorous mass that rose into the sky, towering at least 12 feet tall. The undead hulk gripped a massive double headed axe that formed of the same dark energy. The newly reformed enemies joined along those that still lived as the leader's dark energy fueled them into a furious bloodlust.
"Wanderer guard us, this is a nightmare!" Ray blasted healing magic into his broken arm, healing in preparation of the now severely deadly situation they'd found themselves in.

Ray and Astrid fight well. They managed to down most of the opponents within our vicinity. Astrid dodging a fire ball by a hair's breadth before her vaguely canine companion disemboweled and roasted a cultist. She followed up with her hammer, pummeling another one to the ground, before hurling her weapon at a demon. From Ray's shadow, I watched as he deftly decapitated the downed demon, then moved on to the other, and this blow was blocked. Then the demonic energies thickened, I could feel my blood sing for violence and death as two more opponents showed up. One demon, and one cultist. A cultist who reanimated his downed comrades. A section of an epic I once heard popped into my head
"… There's no where to go, Hopeless and desperate, All paths adverse, Things 're looking bleak, and they're bound to get worse. Hopeless and ruined- there's no way to win, Goal's unachievable, faith's growing thin Lost and forlorn, Impossible odds, Then that's when 'ey learned they've been messing with gods! …"
But even that scene ended in victory. I hope our scenario also ends in our victory. I brought my flute to my lips in an attempt to lull the necromancer into open arms of insanity, but it seemed whatever he was doing with the corpses meant that he was extra vigilant against mental attacks. I continued to play until around half way through the piece, but from the get go, I could tell that I wouldn't be able to find purchase in his mind with a spell I just tested ten minutes ago. I had wasted precious time with the attempt. The fight was moving on, the earthen wall that had served to protect the last living demon lowering, allowing it and it's undead friend to attack Ray together. My control broke, and demonic energy suffused through my body, allowing me to leap from Ray's shadow and plunge my claws into the relatively soft flesh of the living demon's belly. Or at least try to. My hand was blocked by the the demon, the flat head of the axe whirling around to block me. The move ended up doing a better job of preventing it's advance towards Ray than it did in actually dealing damage, and in the corner of my eye I could see the heat shrouded pull it's hand back to punch the paladin, and the bloody cultists attacking Astrid once again. This is not fun. This is the exact opposite of fun. Just when they started gaining ground, a whole new pair of enemies reared their ugly heads! Sure, Melodia told the group about them, but that doesn't make their appearance any less surprising in the heat of battle.
Speaking of heat, the devil still on its feet fires off a beam of fire at Astrid. The magical blurring effect of her armor and the absolute chaos of the situation around them make it narrowly miss her, though her cape gets singed. Astrid holds her hand out, and her war hammer flies across the battlefield from where it was embedded in the hard desert ground beside the dead devil's body. Holy energy coursing through her from Ray's spell, Astrid puts all her might into slamming both of her hammers into its leg. There's a loud crack from the force of her hammers meeting its thigh. A combination of holy energy, the silver enchantment on her battle hammer, and the other enchantments on her weapons snap the femur of the demon, and it crumples to the ground, roaring in pain.
"Go get that guy, Spicy!" Astrid's hellhound companion follows the direction she points and dashes across the battlefield to the last minion cultist with earth magic. Spicy Pawsage's tusks rip into the man's throat, and he finishes him off with a breath of flame.
There's no time to revel in the small victory. This new cultist is a necromancer, and as quickly as they killed the first devil, it's back on its feet, now with a massive axe made of dark energy. Great. And the new guy has wings! Is she about to do something stupid? Yes. Yes, she is. The least she can do is draw this new devil's attention and let Ray and Shun clean up the stragglers clinging to both life and unlife. To do this, the ground is not a place she wants to be.
"I've got a dumb idea!" she shouts to her companions. "The big guy's trouble! I've got him!" From beneath Astrid's cloak, a pair of wings, half feathered and half leathered, unfurl. They're an odd combination of a bird's and bat's wings. Then she launches herself into the air. "Hey!!" the girl shouts, clanging her hammers together to create a lot of noise. "Hey, ugly with the wings!! Yeah, you! Come at me!"
When the boss devil's eyes meet Astrid's, she catches him with her mark. As much as it wants to turn its attention on the paladin and ignore the child in its path, it can't. Its lips pull back in an angry sneer, revealing massive fangs. What a foolish child. If she wishes to face its full fury, then she will. The large, black, leathery wings wisping with smoke on its back pump air beneath it powerfully, kicking up a flurry of dust and dirt. Then the creature follows the half-dwarf girl into the air.
This is a dumb idea, but at least it gives Shun and Ray some room to fight the undead and the leader cultist.

Ray's companions had reacted with composure to the new wave of enemies, showing a great deal of bravery. Shun rushed from behind Ray surprising him and striking the hulking undead before it could engage him, Astrid cracked the femur of the other devil before it's own attack could land as well. Ray now found himself between two distracted and injured enemies as the fight raged on. His surprise was compounded as Astrid sprouted wings and flew into the sky, looking far too small for the bite she had bitten off in challenging the largest of the devils. He would need to make the most of this for his companion's sakes.
"What darkness... Seeker, destroy them!" Qil's voice fumed with anger as the necromancer's spell took effect.
He had another worry though, Shun was engaged with an undead hulk and another devil needed to be finished off as well. Time was of the essence here, he needed to focus on offense fully. Breathing in briskly and deeply Ray focused his and Qil's energies together, allowing the celestial power to fill his body. As the magic perfused him he felt his body begin to grow. A flash of light engulfed him for a moment before dissipating in a wave of holy fire. It revealed a much larger Ray, looking much the same if not for his gargantuan size, standing at around 20 feet tall. He let out a battle cry, moving with no hesitation towards the crippled devil. The devil looked up at him with fear and hatred in its eyes as Ray cleaved through it's body, from the shoulder to the rib cage, with a now equally enormous saber. Holy fire burned in the wounds as the devil's top half slid off to the ground.
Moving on to the undead hulk, hoping to finish it off just as quickly, Ray raised his second saber and brought it crashing down towards the monster. The monstrosity took its attention away from Shun, raising its axe in a desperate attempt to block the blow. As Ray's blade clashed with the axe hilt the beast was driven down to its knees as rubble flew up from the ground around it. As Ray quickly, for a giant, swung once more from a different angle he was blocked as a giant wall of skeletal remains rose up from the ground between him and the undead hulk and shun. His sword crashed through the wall, stopping before it could reach the hulk behind it. The wall seemed to be alive, reforming itself around his blade and holding it in place.
The necromancer smiled gleefully, cackling in delight as his minions went about his work for him. He held a palm out and swirling energy crackled from his staff onto it, forming a ball of black lightning. As he raised his hand towards the sky the bolt of energy streaked away towards Astrid as she flew to engage the flying devil. Ray turned his attention to the isolated mage, releasing the stuck sword and raising his hand to the mage.
"Wanderer curse those who misuse the god's gifts!" He closed his hand into a tight fist and yanked it to his side. The mage recoiled in pain as the spell he'd just used was hexed, unable to be used again in this fight.
The necromancer turned his attention to Ray with a scowl. He spoke a strange incantation in a language Ray had never heard and snapped his fingers. As he did so a black string rose from his chest and moved at incredible speed towards Ray, striking into his own chest. The necromancer smiled once more, staring at Ray with a clear challenge. Ray moved towards the necromancer with crashing steps, focusing his energy in preparation to end the nightmare this fight had become. He didn't realize he had left Shun and Astrid to fight their battles alone, his and Qil's hatred of the necromancer clouded their judgement.
(Ray used belt of giant size - grow to 20-30 feet, move slightly slower, equipment grows with you) (Ray executed crippled devil 2) (Ray attacked undead hulk, it blocked, second attack was blocked by death wall raised between them) (Necromancer cast chaos bolt towards Astrid) (Ray hexed chaos bolt, preventing further use of the spell.) (Necromancer cast Soul Shackle on Ray - You bind yourself to another target, causing a thin beam of energy to connect you and that person. This binds your souls together, and shackles the target to you. This bond causes you all to share damage, meaning if you take damage, so will the person on the other end of the shackle. This also works in reverse, meaning you will take any damage the other target takes. This last 2 post.

Wow, these guys never cease to amaze me. Astrid is keeping what I'm pretty sure is a major demon busy, her mount finished off the one reinvigorated cultist in a single fell swoop, and Ray summoned a spectacular avatar of divine aura that rose tens of feet into the air, towering over his massive undead opponent. I cringed a little, as his divinity interacted with my own demonic aura, but it wasn't too bad. Instead I turned my focus to my opponent, the last cultist l, just in time to see him fire a crackling flare of purple and black towards the dragon child.
"ASTRID!"
I yelled, hoping it was enough to alert her, hoping I didn't distract her, and knowing that I had nothing to block it with except my own body, which wouldn't get there in time. So I continued on my previous train of thought- the necromancer. It's all or nothing now. I especially am not sure how long Astrid can hold her own. I darted soundlessly towards the necromancer, claws extended and my favorite party trick in mind. Instead of flesh my claws met a wall of bones, and I jumped back as it took a swipe at me, tugging at the crystalline feathers on my chest. Well, what did I expect? Close combat isn't my forte. So instead, I hid in the shadow cast by the wall. It was a bit risky, but the best place to hide was where people least expected it, and I made sure not to touch it. I pulled out my flute and started to play the tiefling chant once again, this time aiming my intent on the person of the other side of this wall skeletons. Hearing her name called, Astrid glances back only to see the black bolt of lightning heading right for her. Luckily, she gains an additional split second to react, and she can use it to her advantage! Manifesting her magic, Astrid darts at inhuman speeds back down, just past the hulking demon. With just a little boost, it could run into that magic bolt! So she gathers all her strength and slams her hammer into it from below. The force knocks it farther into the air and directly into the path of the Chaos Bolt.
Black and purple magic strikes the fiend, and it roars in pain. How could its very master attack it! No, it's that girl! Recovering in the air with a large blackened mark on its chest and a broken leg from the hammer strike, the devil roars and lets out a breath of flame down at the girl. Straining, Astrid manages to get away from it and flies back into the air to direct the flames away from her allies.
But wait, Ray is humongous! He must have massive strength with this new height! So Astrid shouts to him, "Hey, Ray! Batter up!" Then she leads the enraged devil into a path where Ray can strike it down! If they can take this guy out, she can rush to help with the rest of them! They're so close to winning this!

As Ray charged upon the necromancer Astrid's voice drew his attention to the skies. She had drug the largest devil in pursuit and was leading it straight towards him. The beast was entirely focused on Astrid even as she whizzed past him with a clear directive given. Ray halted his pursuit of the mage, setting himself into a powerful stance to allow for a heavy swing aimed at the devil's path.
The slowness of this form was new to him, though the weight of the blow was increased in equal measure. Ray's saber impacted the devil with the force of a tree trunk focused behind the sharpened blade. His inexperience with the form caused the blow to miss its mark slightly and Ray failed to completely finish the monster as intended. His blade managing instead to rip an arm and both wings off of it. The devil was sent off course and crashed into the ground amid a cloud of dust and debris. A healthy amount of blood trailed from the gaping wounds, splattering the ground along its path.
While Ray had been distracted Shun had caused the lead cultist to have some sort of fit. he now stood screaming and trying to cast spells in random directions, likely attempting to blast the now hexed chaos bolts at whatever visions now filled his head. It made Ray glad the trickster was on his side, he couldn't imagine the sort of hallucinations that would cause someone to react that way...
As he moved to close in and finish the leader off he felt a blade impact his calf. The hulking undead had used the chance to catch up and deliver a cleaving blow to him. He couldn't tell the amount of damage done until he moved to change position and felt his ankle's limpness, falling to one knee to keep from tumbling over. A burning anger filled him as he saw the now relatively small undead preparing another swing. Using both arms he reached down, grabbed the mass of undead flesh, and lifted it over his head.
"Seeker wait!" Qil shouted in panic.
Ray flung the hulk through the air towards the lead cultist, ignoring Qil's warning.
"Diieee!!!" He shouted, allowing the pain and bloodlust to overtake him.
The lead cultist still rambled and fought against invisible enemies about himself even as the hulk's body collided with him. The string connecting the two tightened as black energy crackled along it and struck Ray's chest. Ray instantly felt a sensation of intense pain as many of the bones in his still massive body were broken and crushed. The world went black as his own body sustained the massive amount of damage sustained by the cultist. The cord snapped between the two just as Ray's own neck did, ending the lives of both the cultist and Ray. The enormous corpse fell slowly to the ground, sending tremors through the earth as a dust cloud covered the area.

Hell yeah! Talk about hitting two birds with one stone! I cut off their heads for good measure. You never knew when it came to necromancers, it was better to be safe than sorry. That done, I turned around. There were two somewhat discernable bloodied figures on the ground. One was the greater demon, and the other was… Ray? Both were heavily wounded, but the devil was moving. Ray was not. I took to the sky as I rushed over, making an arc in the sky as I sprinted and dove. I stepped on the last opponent on impact, gouging some modest scratches and knocking the wind out of it, sending it to the floor again. Not much but it would probably die of blood loss. Did demons have blood? I took a quick second glance at the figure lying in a slowly growing puddle. Even if it wasn't strictly blood, it'd die of loss of whatever the black opaque liquid coming out of it was. Back on task, I went to check on Ray. I put a hand over his mouth and stomach. No breathing. I paled demonic transformation dropping and even my usually mauvelous complexion a shade lighter. Oh Gods. Abyssal Infusion (3)

Ray did it! He took perfect advantage of the setup Astrid gave him and downed the largest of the devils. Finally, that thing isn't on her tail and she can focus on the rest of the enemies. There aren't many though with Shun and Ray having cleaned them up. All that's left is-
The monstrous warcry giant Ray lets out as he whips the undead at the necromancer threatens to deafen Astrid. The wind from his movements blow her off course. And now she's noticing... What's that black magic tying Ray to the necromancer? The impact of the undead meeting its master kills them both on impact. Then Ray starts to look faint. After another few seconds, the giant falls to the ground, kicking up dust and dirt and covering the area. Whatever high that boils up from the victory is short-lived.
Feeling her wings start to give out, Astrid lands on the ground and runs over to Ray as the effects of his giant belt start to reduce his size. Shun beats her there and starts checking his vitals. "What's goin' on?" Astrid asks hurriedly. "Is he alright? What was that magic?"
When she finally gets over there, she sees the Seeker's head at an angle it shouldn't be at. Wait. No, no, no! "Ray? Ray!!" Astrid drops down beside him and tries to shake him awake to no avail. "S-Shun d-do ya have healin' magic? C-Can ya do anythin'??"
