Edward steps onto the streets on Sol City, looking up to see the clear night sky impeded by the clouds. Tonight will be a great night to hunt some demons. After tangling with the cultists back in Moonglade, Edward discovered that there are more groups of this cult that are all over the world. One particular group of cultists that is hiding in Sol City are apparently snatching up homeless children off the streets to summon cherubs, those vicious beings. For what plot, Edward doesn’t know but he has to stop this before it gets out of hand.
From what he has learned from his contact back in Moonglade, this group is posing as a group of wandering priests of Solaria. He takes a back alleyway to get to the slums of the city. Every city has its own section dedicated to the poor and downtrodden, Sol City is no exception. He stumbles across a market street, with vendors and tents lining the sidewalk. Since he’s in a marketplace, it wouldn’t hurt if he can find some information about where this cult group is hiding.

Vi'ira stood in a busy marketplace starring down at a piece of parchment that she held firmly in her hands. It read, 'THEY HAVE INFILTRATED SOL CITY. DO NOT REST UNTIL THEY ARE FOUND. HIGH RISK, GREAT REWARD' hastily scribbled across the paper, with a simple drawing of a group of hooded figures lined up in a row. She had gotten word of a group of cultists terrorizing the city from an old friend (or, more so an old contact or her father's), snatching up children from off the street to use for summonings. When she was not venturing across the seas, she made sure to keep an eye out for any ads or proposals that many people would often glance past. For Charon's sake, she herself had almost dismissed this one as some sort of scheme until her father had brought the true reality of the situation to her attention. There was no use in wasting her time in the city sitting about, so instead, she took to the darker parts of Capitol's Landing.
Her dark blue cloak cast a shadow over her face, shielding her features as an attempt to blend in more with this part of Sol City. The market was bustling with crooks and shady exchanges, however she couldn't be one to judge, seeing as half of the work she did wasn't entirely legal. She crumbled the paper up and stuffed it back into her pockets. Finding a group of child-snatcher's wasn't going to be easy, especially when they could so easy blend in with the rest of the civilians. As she made her way across the stalls, she made sure to make note of anyone that seemed even a tad bit out of place. She looked for timid gestures, suspicious movements, the likes of it.
Her eyes drifted to young man who towered over many of the others walking throughout the street. He didn't necessarily stand out, per-say, but something was different about him compared to his surroundings. By the way he was carrying himself, he seemed to be searching for something. Perhaps he was in need of something being sold along the sidewalk, or perhaps...something far more sinister. She was not as good at reading people as she was ancient texts, and would often assume every possible scenario before actually landing herself at the correct assumption. She let herself drift back into a darker part of the alley, intending on observing the man as he stalked about.

Wandering around Sol City on her own, many people warned the half-dwarf child about possible child snatchers. However, this child, being a plucky and much too confident for her own good adventurer, decided that as a child she would be the best candidate to catch and bonk the child snatchers herself. Should she be tackling this with at least one other person? Yes. Is she currently doing that? Absolutely not. Sure she has her companion, the worrisome Charles, but she has him keeping his distance with instruction to report to guards should anything happen. Astrid's the perfect bait for anyone looking to lure in unsuspecting children, but she has the upper hand: she's very suspecting and very strong. But the cultists don't have to know that.
Night time is a great time for her to look around and seem helpless. She just looks like a strange horned child pretending to be a guard. So when she, in her vigilance, notices a man looking around with determination and a woman skulking back into an alley, she's on high alert. Someone's bound to make a move soon. Will it be her?
Yes, it will.
She nonchalantly strolls over towards the alley the woman ducked into, glancing in that direction, into the darkness, and being unimpeded by the shadows. The girl's eyes glimmer as she takes a glance, like a cat in the night, but she doesn't approach or enter the alley, simply takes a quick stock of the one in the shadows, doing her best to pretend she didn't even notice her.

Edward can’t help but feels like he’s being watched. Maybe its because his inner wolf is warning him. Every since he inherited the mantle of the wolf from his mother’s heritage, he has been having strange feelings when something isn’t right. Stories of his adventures has been spread across Charon, so it can’t be helped if some people recognize him. However, he might be a likely target for those who align themselves with devils and demons. He doesn’t want to draw attention to himself by looking over his shoulder to find whoever might be following and watching him, so he discreetly lifts his hand, with blue mist emanating from his finger, and draws a glyph in the air.
The glyph in the air dissipates but Edward knows that he has just summoned a ghost. The ghost is invisible but Edward can sense its presence. Edward whispers at the ghost, “Look for anybody who might be following me, then report back.” The ghost moves away from Edward and towards the alleyway that some people are hiding in. Then the ghost comes back and telepathically transmits the information back to Edward.
Seeing that he is being tailed, Edward ducks into the nearest alleyway to throw off his tail. He readies his staff just in case and runs deeper in.

Vi'ira continued to lurk in the shadows of the alley, silently eyeing the man. She furrowed her brows when the man very suddenly ducked into an entirely different alleyway. She felt her ears prick up as she slowly made her way out of the shadows. She looked to her left, and then to her right. That is when she noticed the silhouette of a young child that appeared to have horns sprouting from their head. It was hard to make out the details, but someone of that size and stature most definitely had to be far younger than any of the surrounding people. 'Oh, this is just perfect,' she thought to herself, 'just what the cultists are on the look out for.' While the child being here certainly opened up an opportunity for a possible attack and exposing the criminals quickly, this child could be at a great risk just by being here. 'Just stay put. I'll get to ye next.'
She turned the corner and followed the flow of traffic as she walked further down the market street. She kept her eyes peeled, and scaled closer to the wall of a building as she neared the alleyway the man entered. She breathed in as she slowed down her steps, placing her right hand on the hilt of her rapier as she approached and went to peak at the man.

Astrid glances back as she shady lady sneaks out of the alley. She's ready to grab her hammer and bash her if necessary, but to her surprise, the lady turns and goes the other way. Maybe she's gone off to tell her cultist friends about the lone child! Perfect, Astrid will just follow her and catch them all unawares. It seems, however, that the sneaky lady is much better at being sneaky than Astrid is, so Astrid resorts to pushing her way through the crowd in order to try to catch up to the lady. People are understandably annoyed by this and create a fuss, asking where her parents are and why she's out and about so late when there's cultists out here. Dummies, she thinks to herself. I'm huntin' the cultists!
At about this time, Astrid stumbles into the alley after Vi'ira with a clatter of tiny armor and quickly whips out her hammer, expecting to defend herself from an ambush.

Edward ducks into the alleyway and presses his body close to the wall next to the entrance of the alleyway. He raises his hands in preparation and when Vi’ira peeks her head out into the alleyway, Edward summons light from his hand that shoots out towards Vi’ira and wraps around her to bind her. Using the light, Edward pulls her into the alleyway. Edward looks at her and says, “Who are you? Why are you following me?” While Edward is speaking to the woman, a small child with horns steps into the alleyway, with her armor clattering as the child enters the alleyway. EDward looks at the woman, “Is this your child? You brought a child into this?”

Before Vi'ira could react, she felt her limbs tighten to her sides as a thin vine of light twisted around her. This is just great. She felt herself being tugged into the alley by the man and huffed.
"I 'adn't even attacked ye, no need to go through all this," she breathed looking down at the vine. It was deeply intricate, and she wanted to stare at it, more so study it, but this was nowhere near the time to go about doing that. "I'm watching the market for suspicious activity. Now, is that such a crime?" She cocked her head to the side as the raised her eyebrows. She typically wasn't the most hostile person, but when startled like this she can't help but feel frustrated. The clanking of armor from behind her caused her to whip her head around. It was the child from before, of course it was! At least by her being here, Vi'ira could keep a closer eye. Or, she could distract the man long enough for Vi'ira to meddle her way out of his grasp.
"Who says she 'as any tie to me? You are quite pushy, my friend."

Astrid did not expect the vines of light to suddenly wrap up the shady white haired elf, and when they do, she jumps back in surprise. Taking on a ready stance and drawing her hammer out, the girl looks between the adults and watches their exchange, prepared for any funny business. She's not afraid to smack a single one of them. Even if there is surprising magic involved.
Then comes the suspicious activity comment, and Astrid points her hammer towards Vi'ira in surprise. "Yer lookin' fer suspicious activity?" she questions. "I'm lookin' fer suspicious activity! And the two of ya were lookin' super suspicious! Child snatchers!" The accusation flies out of her mouth. If either of them truly do intend to snatch children, they'll look nervous, and that'll look really suspicious. "Give up now or I'll knock yer socks off!"
Not that this is how she planned to do things. If anything, she'd have let herself get snatched up then just bust out and rescue any kids who had gotten snatched. She'd be a tiny hero! Not that she wasn't already, but she did find herself missing her usual partner in crime-fighting.

Edward looks at the elf, “Well, no, it’s not a crime. I’m just cautious when other people start to stalk me all sneaky like instead of just coming up to me to talk things out. I don’t like being followed around, especially in these times. Usually when someone stalks another person, that’s considered pushy.” Edward turns to Astrid, “As for you, child, I’m not a child snatcher, I’m here looking for child snatchers. Not sure if this elven lady over here is a child snatcher though.”

As inappropriate as the timing was, Vi'ira stifled a laugh. Partially towards the accusation of her being a child kidnapper, and partially towards the threat coming from a small, four foot tall child. However, as she looked at the blonde girl, she felt as though the face she was staring at was rather familiar. She hadn't interacted with many children during her time in Sol City, so pinning the face to the identity wouldn't be too hard.
The man's reasoning was fair enough. If Vi'ira was being followed, she too wouldn't take too kindly to the individual. She simply nodded and dipped her head to the side, acknowledging that in this moment, she perhaps was the one pushing her hostility onto someone who potentially didn't deserve it. She had yet to determine what kind of man she was dealing with, and let the future tell. "It seems we're 'ere for the same reason. Funny 'ow that works, isn't it?"
It hit her, she did remember the little girl. She snapped her head to the child, "I knew ye looked familiar! For Charon's sake, I'm no child snatcher. We met at the 'arvest Ball. Ye dared me to dance with Shaa, remember?" There was a slight sense of urgency in her voice. She hoped that by mentioning this memory, and reassuring the child that she meant no harm, she could get her on her side. And by doing this, the man would trust her enough to release her. The light vines were getting to be quite uncomfortable.

Getting a better look at the white-haired elf with the light of the vines reflecting off of her face, Astrid also recognizes her. "Oh yeah!! You were playin' truth or dare with us! Rightly embarrassed yerself in front of Lady Marrowvine, ya did!" The girl laughs and her stance completely relaxes. "Is Shaa his name? The big bull man? Guess I'll remember that! I don't think I ever got yer name, though. I'm Astrid Stormstone, nice ta meet ya." She holds out her hand habitually then remembers she can't actually shake Vi'ira's hand in the current circumstance, so she looks over and focuses on Edward.
There's amusement lingering on her face but a challenge in her eyes. She's familiar with the elf, but what about him? She'll kick his butt. "I don't know who you are, exactly, but if yer huntin' child snatchers, and she's no child snatcher, and I'm a child ta be snatched, maybe the three of us are fit ta work together, yeah?"
