The arid and vibrant landscape of the Cradle was odd and overwhelming at the same time. The imposing and viscous mountain range that encircled the aforementioned region of Dragon’s Cradle would leave many assuming from the outside looking in, that the region would not be beautiful or full of life in any form, but that was as far from the truth as one could be. The land was filled with beauty from exposed geodes to the villages and people themselves, the dragonkin in all their forms and the enticing if not violent sky that glowed purple and held hazards occasionally, or framed the sun in such a way that it was majestic and all consuming.
It was in these lands that a job was requested and a job was taken. It seemed simple enough as a group of travelers had asked for protection and guidance through the less traveled and more dangerous Lighting Fields of the Dragons Cradle so they could migrate to the Frost Gale region and go about whatever their secretive business was. The nature of it was made clear as being of no concern to the adventurers who had answered their call.
The location was given to those that accepted the quest from various adventurer guilds and job boards throughout the mainland, and those that had made it in time would find themselves waiting at the Thunder pavilion of Algarest, a small sized monastic town partway to the north eastern border of the Frost Gale and right at the edge of the lightning fields itself. It was here that the adventurers would meet and begin their task of escorting their charges.
Kwang-il found himself having spent a small amount of time in the region now as a preamble to the quests start date, choosing to find any shred of Ginma that he could here. It was a grand opportunity as it was clear to him that out of all of the lands he had seen thus far this place was the most touched by his hand. He would need to return here at some point to see more of its splendor. Leaning against the gate wall that would lead out into the Lightning Field’s proper, he had summoned a dragon fruit with his earth domain magic, and began to eat it as he waited for the small caravan and his would be partners to arrive.

Dragons Cradle had that something Heian been searching for quite a while. While ominous and dangerous, the landscape was one of the most beautiful in Charon, but other people would most likely not agree with him. Matter of taste. However he didn't come hier to explore, but in a certain interest. A group of people needed a guide to lead them safely to Frost Gale. Just a bunch of tourists casually going through the middle of the most dangerous place known to locals. Those were some amateur smugglers or whatever, but the paycheck was s w e e t.
When he reached the town gates potential guides were supposed to wait under, he was greeted by quite a crowd. Ovet 20 people came, encouraged with riches of mysterious group. Some would be kicked out just for their look, the bosses seemed to be impatient. Fortunately, Wood was quite hard to miss, they will be intrigued, or at least not bored with him. Then Heian spotted a familiar face in the crowd. It was... Kwang, that was the name? It was quite a while since they saw each other at Moonglade. Hopefully his grudge for Veliky didn't turn him against Heian, if so the road to Frost Gale lied opened beneath them. The guy knew how to fight.

Nearly the same way as her Father Ginma, Dragon's Craddle have tried to punch some godly fear into her, and was overall rude and cruel to the witch. The first time she came, she regretted it. Even so, she hoped to make amends with Ginma. Begrudingly. She didn't feel like it at the time she accepted the task, but now, before Dragon's Craddle once again, she thought it to be the intention of the earth father, always sneaking into her life with the subtlety of a stampede. Fitting, she thought.
Kamille approached the crowd, that familiar, gentle warmth with her presence. The feathery hood casted shadows on her face, but she didn't keep the mystery for long, as she knew how unsetled people got with those unwiling to show their faces: she lowered her hood, revealing her elven heritage, blue eyes and black hair. The tough, unwavering presence of the earth domain was strong on that one, even in such a delicate vessel. A raven cawed above, and shortly before that, landed on her shoulder, as if to complete the look.
The woman seemed lost or confused for a moment, but then Ginma tugged at the corner of her mind once again: another one blessed with the skills of the earth domain casted a spell she recognized. And he seemed to be waiting for something too, maybe he was better informed than her. He looked young, but clearly had something to offer. She approached.
"Excuse me, is this the place we're supposed to meet the travelers? The ones hiring guides?"

His wait was finally over when he was surprised by the arrival of non other then Heian, an interesting bloke but a solid choice on an escort mission at least. He only hoped that their talents were not needed on this mission but if they were then they would at least be capable of doing what needed to be done.
Nodding to him he waved a quick wave before he spoke with his usually warm and playful voice, "Hello there.", It would seem that the reunion so to speak would be cut short by the arrival of another, a woman he had never met before. He could feel the will of Ginma in her though and even more so the soul of fire that they both shared and enveloped them intrinsically as his emerald eyes flashed a golden hue with a small fire dancing in his pupils as he made an attempt to look her in the eyes.
His facial expression was kind and inviting which was only aided by his youthful and athletic demeanor as he spoke to her as well, "I believe this is the place. I take it both of you are also planning on running as guides as well? I am Kwang-Il and that one is Heian...", he motioned towards him before he bowed slightly to the woman and then began looking past her towards a small group of travelers.
He couldn't make out what exactly, or who exactly they were but they were all half the size of a normal human and did not wear shoes. Their feet were hairy and calloused at least they must have been to stride with such confidence in each step they took on the uneven surface of the road that lead to where they were near the gate. Their hoods drawn the middle of the three raised their hand and flagged the group itself down.
A weathered and strong bass blessed voice left his throat as he spoke to the three escorts that had come to guide his family away from here, "'Ello'! Ya'll the people who answered my postin' for guides? Names Jorn Grangefellow, pleasure to make your acquaintance.", his accent was thick but not in an unpleasant way as the man lowered his hood and revealed the face of an older halfling man somewhere in his mid 80's probably as he was beginning to show some gray in his hair and crows feet were starting to call the corners of his eyes home.
The other two lowered their hoods as a Brunette and Carrot topped halfling revealed themselves to the group as well, both being much younger boys then the man who seemed to lead them, but there was no question that they were the sons of the man who spoke for them.

Heian joined the Kuang' side, soon followed by Kamillie. Now all they had to do was to win "sabotage" ...or sabotage the potential competition. -Nice to meet you two again. There surely will be some selection going, so let's stick together, alright? Just as he said that, the old halfling continued his speech.
-There's too much of yer, so we'll be doin a selection. If ya'll know someone, gather together as a team. Approach three teams at once
A few adventurers around them gathered into groups, but most remained alone. The groups would have higher chances of being recruited thank to their experience with each other. They just had to beat three other teams, which seemed easy enough with Kwang, Kamilie and himself.
-Maybe you should show your analytic skills to them. Surely they will be impressed -And how do you imagine that happening? Wood really could be annoying at times, with his neverending comments and jokes. Even if he could somehow take the speech access away, it would only make their relationship worse and they both didn't want that. "Fine I will listen when you tell me to shut up. Satisfied?" The other two looked at him with a slight concern, so he smiled.
First groups approached the halflings, with their assigned to the Jorn.

Kamille greeted Kwang'Il with a gesture of the head. Only then she spotted Heian. The Witch was still a not used to his way of talking, but regardless tried her best to not miss anything.
"Heian! Nice to see you again! Good to see some familiar face... faces... around here!"
"CAAWWW! BAD!"
Apparently, Mischief also recognized Heian and instantly remembered their first encounter, when Heian spilled his mead on top of the raven. Mischief ruffled his feathers and made a displeased, low caw sound towards him. Kamille didn't seem to take him seriously.
She seemed about to continue when a small person stepped forward. Halflings, she recognized them as such. She's seen just a few, but it was enough. The halfling suggested them band in groups, and as chance would have it, they naturally banded together with no effort. She realized she didn't introduce herself to Kwang'Il, so she whispered, as to not interrupt the halfling.
"I'm sorry, my name is Kamille. This one here is Mischief", she indicated the raven on her shoulder.
But Kamille seemed a bit worried about having to fight others for the task. If it came to a simple show of skills, she could certainly handle it in the most flashy way possible - but she would rather avoid it. She decided to take action quickly before their chances wanned, taking both Heian and Kwang'Il by their hands and walking up to the halfling, dragging them both with her. She just met Kwang'Il, but it was better than nothing, she assumed. A chosen of Ginma, she was certain of it, couldn't be all that bad.
"Come on, let us waste no time."

Heian as always was odd, but effective especially as the others began to branch off into various groups and it would seen that he and Kamille had claimed him as it were, which was fine enough. Her subtle introduction was met with a nod of his head and a brief smile as he acknowledged her amongst the chaos of the moment.
He was curious as to how they were going to select the groups and if it was going to be about a show of force or skill then he was ready to simply crush whomever looked like the second strongest out there and see it be done.
As they gathered up there, being led by the hand of Kamille herself his mind filled with a thought of mischief and he couldn't help himself but to cast a wall of earth behind them as they occupied the area in front of the halflings first, thus separating the others away from them.
Looking behind them at the other groups, he spoke with a kind and warm voice that was very counter to the action he just took against them all, "Sorry, I guess you were just too slow or unobservant.", a laugh left his lips that also seemed kind despite the nature of it, and he himself wasn't necessarily happy with solving this "problem" in this way, but it wasn't worth expending more energy then needed to make it clear that their group was the ONLY choice.
Jorn noticed what had happened and simply shook his head and smirked before waiving the other frustrated groups away and then pointing towards the gates themselves, "Well if you couldn't notice even that how are you supposed to watch out for my boys and I out there? Off with the lot of ya!", looking at Heian, Kamille, and Kwang-Il he shook his head again before he began walking towards the gate and spoke again, "Well? Quit standing around then, off we go!"
||Used Wall of Stone to separate the other contestants from them so as to remove them in a non lethal way.||

With that they ventured out. Much like expected the first half of the day was rather calm. While Dragons Cradle weather was unpredictable, prognoses were rather accurate for at least one day, and so people were choosing to go out on those peaceful ones. They also still were close to city, bandit groupps were... ocassional. In an entire region of Dragons Cradle only Storm Gale was safe from them. Containing pickpocketers and robbers instead. But other than violent weather, blood thirsty bandits, lack of practically any vegetation and several other factors he was yet to learn, the place surely was nice.
This time the prognose was partially right. Near the evening the weather collapsed, flooding the wastes with heavy rain. At least the clouds were from Frost Gale, so their skin wouldn't melt. Neverthless, the oldest dvarf ordered to set a camp quite early. Heian gladly took a break and helped with tents. Realizing he forgot one for himself. "Before you ask, I also didn't think about it so couldn't really remind you" They really did fit each other.
He approached Kwang, who was not as stupid and brang his own tent. -Would it be a problem if I would sleep with you?

An extra set of eyes contributed for the safety of the group: Mischief was a good scout, flying high above them to report anything useful. The raven would circle around the group during the day, returning from time to time to warn of someone trying to stalk or approach them. Sometimes, he even brought some useless trinkets back. He was useful enough to have his random shenanigans tolerated by the dwarfs, specially when he tried to steal their rings or other, minor shining trinkets.
When the rain poured, he stopped being usefull, hiding in Kamille's cloak. And the Witch, who had been helpful, talkative and charming for most of their walk, had then become sullen and clearly unhappy. Her feathery cloak became heavy, drenched in the rain water. Even if she couldn’t feel the cold, she often reminded herself as to why she hated Dragon's Craddle. She helped everyone set camp to the best of her abilities, which wasn’t much on that regard. She was one of the idiots who didn’t think to bring a tent.
With her clothes drenched, protecting Mischief under her cloak, her hair sticking to her face and neck, she sheeplish approached her other two partners. Her eyes were pleading beneath the strands of wet hair.
"Can I..... Do you guys have some more room for me?"
The storm seemed to be against them as much as whoever was following them from the distance. Once the rain started pouring, Mischief couldn’t take wing anymore - and so whatever was stalking them, would have the opportunity now, in the middle of the night, under the pouring rain, to make their move....
