I. The Alchemist and the Magebane Drosera : Avarice is discovered with her magic inert and her hands - or hand, rather - literally tied after an embarrassing lapse of judgement concerning a carnivorous plant. Care to make the situation better? How about worse?II. Another No Soliciting Sign, Unheeded : It's a disgustingly hot day in Eclipse City, you've been put through a dockside marathon of the fantasy equivalent of mall kiosk salesmen, and a child has just thrown a paper airplane at you. It's a flier for an apothecary.

Star of Else, Moonveil Saffron | origin: native lifespan: perennial season: cold
The Star of Else is a species of crocus native to Moonveil. It is a knee-high plant with a long floral tube and cuplike blooms, pale indigo in color, but covered in a fine, silvery powder that gives them their shimmering, starlike quality. The blooms close during the day and open during the night.
The saffron manufactured from this species of crocus possesses properties unique to its type. It is of particular use to mages as it improves memory and promotes focus, as well as replenishing mana reserves | Gildberry, Yellow Ginkgo
| origin: native lifespan: millennial season: warm
With fan-shaped leaves and wide trunks, the gildberry can grow to 30 feet under the right conditions and a specimen can live for over 2,000 years. They bear golden drupes in the early summer which can be combined with oil from mangoes or poison oak to create a strong contraceptive, and the leaves can be used to create paralytics and analgesics.
| Poison Oak
| origin: King’s Valley lifespan: perennial season: warm
Three leaves, let it be. An annoyance that has crept into every corner of the continent, inducing rashes on ankles everywhere, it has a number of surprising uses; as mentioned, the oil on the leaves can be combined with gildberry to create contraceptives, but it can also be fired to create toxic ammunition. Extract from the blooms can treat fungal infections.
| Sprig of Lemon
| origin: Crescent Isle lifespan: centennial season: warm
Lemons are small, beautiful evergreen trees with thin, thorny branches. They blossom in intervals, year-round, and their small white flowers mature into a cheerful, yellow citrus.
The lemon is prized worldwide for its fruit, which is more valuable as a culinary ingredient than an alchemical one, but the leaves themselves can be used to increase solubility in opium-based concoctions.

These were all drawn on the shores northeast of the city - there’s so much diversity here. I think one could walk for hours and never chance upon the same species twice. It was difficult to decide what to document, so I let Lloni point out his favorites - it kept him from harassing the hermit crabs, at least.
He seems so happy out here, with miles of wilderness between us and everyone else.
I don’t want to seed anti-socialism in him. I know I’ve never been a good example for that, but we need this to work - the city, the shop, all of it - and it won’t work if he’s always trying to escape it. Have I already ruined him? Every year, I kept telling myself that he was too young for the traveling to have a lasting effect, but now I have this shell of a child he shuts down when we enter cities, barely says a word. He ignores other children and shies away from adults. He won’t stay indoors when I leave him to restock.
I’ve had to hunt him down at least a dozen times, even when I leave him with the local families. What happens when someone else finds him first? These Moon Elves can paint new, glossy layers over the old as many times as they wish, it won’t change the fact that cities are the same the world over, Eclipse to Darkveil. There’s no monster in nature that can hold a candle to the whims of thinking beings. This is a problem I should have dealt with years ago, and Lloni’s the one who’ll suffer the most for it. Where do I start with fixing it?
- Of all the flowers in this tropical paradise he could have gifted me, he chose a chrysanthemum. For tea, he said. Practical of him.
