Shaa’s eyes were a bit blurry from the flash but he could see the armored man still still trying to get an angle on him. That cut was deep and Shaa didn’t want to risk another hit like that. Time to get creative.
Shaa maneuvered himself over to a small wooden cart that group had been using. Using his good arm, Shaa smashes the handle of the cart, turning it into a makeshift cudgel. But he wasn’t quite done. Putting the cart in between him and the now emboldened armored man, he kicks the carts as hard as he can. The cart goes crashing into the man pinning him underneath the weight of the cart and his own armor.
Shaa turns his attention to the woman who has run over the downed crane. She has her hands over him with a soft glow emanating from the creature still in her hands. Shaa throws his makeshift weapon at the woman’s head. before it can reach her, the crane holds up a feathered hand and turns the cudgel to ash that bounces harmlessly off the woman’s head. Vekla looks back at Shaa with a scowl.

Seeing that the Bear man wasn't about to back down and the rest of the group was fighting on fiercely Ray decided to go for the kill. He pushed back up from his knees with a powerful strike, jamming his blade into the man's gut. The bear man grunted and raised his ax again as blood leaked from the wound. Ray released his saber and reached quickly upwards grabbing the man's ax haft and struggling to control it.
The bear man began to try and thrash him free, raising his leg and kicking at Ray while yanking the ax away from him. The man's kick landed heavily and sent Ray sprawling back to the ground, his blade still stuck out of the bear man's gut. The large beast raised the axe once more and sent a heavy blow down to Ray as he lay on the floor. The ax slammed into his gut despite his attempts to avoid it. The bear man then ripped it free and turned away, throwing Ray's saber down to the ground and looking for another enemy to engage.
Ray used his healing magic to close the wound enough to survive moving again, rose to his feet and lunged towards the bear man, picking the saber up on the way. As the bear man began to swing for Sarne Ray slammed his saber down into his head from behind. The ax fell and the bear man fell with a heavy thud.

Still, at full speed, Sarne closed on the spell caster. When close he swings his sword using the side of his blade again hitting her arms and making them sweep to the side knocking her off balance. Whatever she had planned for Sarne was now ruined. "Yield! I will spare your life for now!" said Sarne more like an order.

From the midst of the battle , a large cloud of green smoke burst from the ground with a loud WOOSH! When the cloud cleared, a large being in a hooded robe stood before them. The being stretched out his large scaled hands, made several quick gestures, muttering something beneath it’s cloak.
Pliars of similar green smoke erupted beneath the armored man, the woman and the crane. With another WOOSH, they all vanished, leaving only the unconscious bear man behind .
Nooo! Shaa ran forward through the green mist finding nothing but slight traces of the battle and no trace of the girl. He stamped his hoof on the ground in frustration.
Shaa walked over to the body of the unconscious bear man, picked him up by the scruff of the neck, and shook him violently. Hey! Wakey wakey! Where is she? Despite his vigorous encouragement, the bear man said nothing. Shaa dumped him brusquely to the ground and looked over to Ray.
Well that could have gone better. Why do I get the feeling there is something more going on here? Shaa plopped down on the ground, closed his eyes and started breathe deeply. He needed to calm down and think. Something here was missing. It was right in front of them but they couldn’t see it. This was no rag tag bunch of kidnappers. Who were they, what did they want. They band they had faught were obviously mercenaries. But that last guy…with the scaled claws….he was no amateur or sell sword. Shaa wasn’t sure what was happening but he felt in his horns that they were running out of time.

As the strange figure disappeared Ray lunged towards the mercenaries but they simply poofed away, leaving him to stumble to the ground. The fight now over he could feel the brunt of his injuries, the wound in his gut was re-opened by his last few movements and now leaked a steady amount of blood. He knelt down and held his hand over it, allowing his healing magic to close the wound fully this time. He now assessed his companion's wounds and applied healing magic to them as well.
Next he assessed the Bear man, he was unconscious but alive so they had at least a lead once if he'd ever wake up. The movement Ray had taken for the girl was actually his tail under the cloak... they'd jumped the gun. His job finally done he fell on his back next to Shaa, looking up at the stars and allowing himself to think and plan.
"I could try and heal him back to consciousness..." Ray was hesitant, holding his hand where the axe has struck him earlier.
"Or, we could try and follow their direction and find that boat they were talking about."
Both ideas seemed less than ideal, the boat to where exactly? Shaa had mentioned harpies and they lived on coastal islands yet this area was bound to have more than one of those. They could perhaps tie the bear man and then wake him, interrogating him with the use of healing magic would be...brutal, yet effective.
"You all have any better ideas? I sure hope you do... this poor girl is still out there, I hope she's been kept safe."

Sarne stopped running looking up at the sky as the people started to vanish in a puff of green smoke. Sarne grunted in frustration. He turned and started walking back towards Ray. "I should have known they had a Mage with them or at least working with them," said Sarne looking a bit mad.
Sarne keeld to one knee. He listened to the others talk. "You guys are right there is something more to all of this I feel. as for following them where we don't even know where they went. I can't track magic," added Sarne now staring at the Barman. "ray can you save him?" asked Sarne.

No! Gruffed Shaa as he chucked a stone in frustration. Even if we wake the bear man up, there is no guarantee he would even tell us anything useful. And, if the magic lizard thought he was worth anything, he would have snagged him too.
Shaa looked out in the distance towards the coast. Look. I appreciate everything you guys have done. Above and beyond really. But this is getting more dangerous than you signed up for.
I am heading for the coast and I am going to find that boat. I’m going to find that girl. And I am going to find a certain smokey lizard who is apparently in need of a serious beating. You can stay here and poke the bear if you want, but I’m not waiting around anymore.
Shaa started to run for the coast. Before leaving the camp, he turns to Ray and Sarne. You guys coming or what?

Sarne looked at Ray "I am too enraged to stop now" sheathed his weapons and started to run after Shaa. The sand under his feet made running a bit more difficult. "Ray Cone on! it will be fun." knowing Ray would probably ketch up to Sarne. "Hay Shaa, slow down this sand is too soft. yelled Sarne.

Of course Ray wasn't about to miss the chance to rescue the little girl. The bear man would simply die, or wake up and wander off later. He followed Shaa and Sarne out to the coast, hoping they could pick the right island out and make their way there safely.
"Of course I'm coming! I'd rather not have you all die without my being there to heal you."
Hopefully this island wasn't too filled with harpies and magical lizard men...
As they made way to the coast the ocean came into full view. This part of Charon was known for high cliffs and small hidden coves. They were able to spot a particularly recent trail and follow the narrow ledge down as it wound to the beach. There, in a narrow inlet, they found a small boat with a single sail and multiple sets of oars. Out in the ocean a single island was in view, mostly obscured by fog due to distance.
"Well men, this looks like our ride...I, erm, hate to say this but...I won't be doing any rowing." He pointed to his missing arm with an embarrassed grin.

As they approached the boat, Shaa bent down and picked something off the beach. In his hand was a large grey feather similar to the one from the bar. We are on the right trail. He said with a grin.
Shaa reached into his pouch and withdrew the tiny bird, attached a note and tossed it into the air. The bird flew off towards Thunderhoof Village. At least they will know where we went now.
The three boarded the boat. Shaa grabbed one set of oars and pointed the other set out to Sarne. He looked over at Ray. Leave the rowing to us. You just keep an eye out for….visitors.
It didn’t take long at all before the group entered the thick fog bank that surrounded the island. The fog was so thick they could barely see each other, let alone anything useful. Fortunately, Shaa had a magic Tatoo that always pointed north, so at least he knew they were headed in generally the right direction.
Ray! Can you see the coast?

Ray stepped to the front of the boat, holding to the rim with his arm to brace himself against the rolling waves. The mist was thick enough to cut with a knife, through it he could barely see an outline of something and assumed it was a tree or rock formation.
"I see-" He cut off his statement as the outline whisper away into the fog.
"Something... But its no coast, not yet..." His voice was grave, whatever that was it had been flying.
As they rowed further the coast of the island came into view, it was a rocky and rough thing. High cliffs of stone with jagged boulders rising up out of it unto which waves crashed sending up spray. The water around the islands coast was a boiling white mess, approaching outright would be suicide.
As he saw this and before he could inform Shaa and Sarne a shrill cry came from above and a troop of harpies descended from the rocks towards their boat. Six of them flew in rough formation above the crashing wake, circling their ship and crying out in high pitched screeching.
"The coast is rough, but we'll have to try it or they'll tear us apart here!" Ray shouted
"Wanderer's light, hold us close to your path and shield us from the evils of this world!" His prayer caused a ring of light to surround Ray, he was standing close enough to Shaa and Sarne that it also touched them. All three now glowed a soft golden hue.
"Let them come, The Wanderer will not let them harm us, stay closet to me and keep rowing as our lives depend on it!"

"Oh, a great welcome party just for us? They should not have" Commented Sarne as he tried to row harder keeping up with Shaa. The boat creaked as the waves got harder to deal with. Sarne looked up as one swooped down and just flew over the boat. Sarne had never seen one only read about them. "Harpies are half human half bird-like creatures that live in packs and hunt sailors. they attacking ships drowning the men before consuming their flesh, now I understand why," said Sarne still rowing the best he could.
The spry of the ocean was getting Sarne all wet he could feel the water seeping into his clothing. With all the mist in the air. Sarne could see why people got confused when thy got close to the shore. With large sharp rocks left and right of them. They would have to be careful.

Sarne! Keep rowing! Shouted Shaa over the crash of the waves.
Several harpies could be seen circling the small boat overhead, just out of reach.
I don’t suppose you all have a crossbow or anything do you? In hindsight, having some ranged weapons handy probably would have been a good idea. They might have to get creative or fall victim to the feathered fiends.
One of the harpies swooped down low, screeching as it came. When it got close enough, Shaa stood up abruptly and swung the oar blade directly into its now slightly flatter face. Mreeeeee! It cried falling into the water.
It was unfortunate however as Shaa had stood up too quickly. Losing his balance, he tumbled awkwardly into the choppy waters below. The waves start pushing him towards the rocky coast. With some quick swimming, he managed to get himself on the beach.
Shaa ran up the beach to try and find a landing for the boat. What he found however, was the masked man starting a ritual on the beach with the missing girl at his feet.

The waves swung the boat too and fro as harpies descended with swooping claws around them. Ray struggled to maintain his feet beneath him as his companions rowed and fended off the beasts assailing them. A harpy came in for an attack and Ray caught the intent in Shaa's eyes, he was going to strike out at it.
"Wait! Don't - " He was unable to get the words out in time to warn his massive companion who stood up quickly, causing the boat to tip as he pushed down on it.
Ray rose up above the waves clung to the side of the dingy with his arm and staring at an incoming wave about to strike as the ship rolled back towards the sea again with Shaa's fall overboard. The wave hit them as the ship rolled towards it, causing water to rush into the hull and force the ship underwater. The sea water shocked Ray with its surprising cold temperature and his fear of water kicked in full force. He had avoided swimming since losing his arm, and had no idea if he'd be able to or not...
He kicked himself back to the water's surface and breathed a gasping breath. Shaa had already made it to shore, he'd have to ask for lessons once this was over. For now he was barely able to tread enough to keep his head above water and his awkwardly swinging arm did more to hinder than help the effort. He had to duck under as harpies swooped at him with their claws and was being tossed about by the waves.
"Sarne! Where are you!?" He hadn't managed to sight Sarne in the waters, hopefully swimming wasn't his weakness as well or they'd likely both drown.

Sarne was now cold and wet clinging to a rock. Waves were slamming him around some. Sarne did not like being wet like this but knew this cold water was going to kill him if he did not get to shore. There are the harpies descending swooping with their claws all around them. They seemed to ignore Sarne at the moment.
Sarne headed to the shore his clothing and equipment were making it hard to swim Sarne use the rocks along the way. "Sarne! Where are you!?" could be heard over the sound of the ocean. Sarne's keen eyes saw his old friend not doing so well. Sarne waited until the wave hit Ray the timing had to be perfect or Sarne would miss catching Ray.
Sarne grabbed Ray's cloak and pulled him in. Sarne could not keep them both above water but they could work together to get to shore. One of the swooping harpies got Sarne in the shoulder just missing his head. Sarne's armor saved him but was badly damaged shoulder pad was hanging by a few straps. Sarne was slammed into a rock and was dased for a moment.
getting a mouth full of sea water brought him back and focused. Sarne kept pulling Ray with him as they got to shore Sarne felt exhausted.
