Athens spent his final week in the capital doing what all Sun Elves did best: partying. And there was no greater celebration in all the land than the grand Summer Festival, hosted by the royal family itself in Sol City. The serendipity of the timing only added to the young elf's enjoyment, giving him more reason to live it up. He was set to leave soon, venturing out into the broader realm of Charon. Despite his excitement, there was a lingering worry; he had never left the capital before. But those concerns were for another day. Tonight, there was a party to attend, and Athens was not going to let a little fear keep him from a drink.
The main festivities of the festival took place in Sol City proper, near the bustling markets and the busy docks, where everyday citizens could indulge in all kinds of merriment. However, a secondary festival thrived near the royal palace, where nobles and members of the crown could celebrate in peace, away from the crowds of commoners. The privacy and well-guarded part of the city allowed these elite revelers to let loose, often drowning themselves in free-flowing liquor.
Athens was among them, leaning against a bar near the palace courtyard, already three glasses deep. He wore an elegant, breathable outfit, adorned with more jewelry than necessary, including golden rings and bracelets that gleamed in the light. The bartender, obligated to serve him his fourth drink, tried to get him to move, as he was blocking the bar for others. A large crowd of outsiders was about to be let into the grounds.
"Fine, I wanted to switch to wine anyway," Athens slurred, his speech carrying the telltale signs of inebriation. He turned and stumbled across the courtyard, hoping to disappear behind a booth before anyone noticed him and asked for an autograph.
