Alicia fidgeted and glanced around as she sat at a table. She was dressed nicer than usual with her hair fixed up and she worked a simple but elegant dress. She had received an invitation from a certain someone and had accepted though with each passing moment her fidgeting increased. What if she had misinterpreted the letter and was overdressed?god forbid she mistakes a simple meeting among peers as some sort of date- wait why did she even want it to be a date? How was she so bothered over a person she hardly knew?! She let out a little huff and straightened up taking a breath “it’s fine” she muttered softly

Sarne was somewhat surprised that Alicia accepted the dinner date. Sarne was unsure of how Alicia would take it being invited by him. He made sure it was of course in the best place in town at one of the best tables. Nordic had told Sarne to get some courage and ask Alicia out for dinner. he was dressed in some of his finest clothing and hoped it was good enough for her.
So Sarne did with all the Etiquette being followed. Nordic, Naesala, and Vamir were not too far off a table acting as chaperons. Sarne sat across from Alicia fidgeting with his napkin before putting it in his lap. "You look stunning tonight," said Sarne complementing Alicia with a smile sounding a bit nervous.

Alicia’s cheeks tinted pink at that as she tried to act unbothered “ah I’m thank you sarne. You look quite nice as well” she replied. She wasn’t used to dresses and having to act like a normal noble lady. She was more used to being a noble knight which was surprisingly less restrictive in dress and behavior. “I was surprised about such a formal invitation for today.” She remarked trying to keep from blushing more as she knew it was a certain holiday on top of everything. “How… have your adventures been?” She asked trying to come up with conversation. This side of nobility was not her strong suit

" Thank you, Alicia. I will have to admit I feel out of place sometimes dressed like this. I have spent so much time on the road. On adventures trying to make my family look good. Making a reputation for myself to prove to the King's court that I am worthy of my grandfather's title Marquis of Silvermyist. We have had that title in my family line for 2000 or more years I think. My grandfather had that title for 800 years," explained Sarne sounding lost by it all. "Now you know about the formal invitation. There is no one I would rather be in this setting," remarked Sarne with a smile. "I feel I can just be me around you. Not have to put on some act or worry if I had practiced the right Etiquette. If I want to slurp my wine I can" admitted Sarne with a sly smile.
The Waiter came with a bottle of wine opened it and pored it in to there wine glasses. Placing the bottle to the side and left. "I ordered some wine for us its the best they say imported from Moonglade." remarked Sarne.

“I wish you luck on achieving your title and goal then. Yes this Side of nobility suits me far less I’m afraid. Being a knight is easy compared to this” she said with a small laugh. She then tilted her head with a tiny smile of amusement at his words “slurp your wine sir? I suppose I won’t tell about such things” she remarked. She didn’t care about formal manners and such as much as she cared about actual people and what they wished for in life.
Alicia then looked to the wine being poured into her glass and looked it over “ah thank you for that. I will repay you my share” she remarked as she examined the wine before taking a sip “moonglade does make some fine beverages” she added enjoying the flavor of the drink before her. She wasn’t one to enjoy many ‘finer’ spirits such as this yet this one tasted quite pleasant, lacking the harsh nip of most alcohol even avoiding the bitterness of most things she had tried. “Any new adventures as of late?” She asked trying to think of conversation topics to avoid any awkward or uncomfortable silences with the other

"Alicia, you owe me nothing and there is no obligation here," commented Sarne looking a little offended. "You are right now a good you owe me nothing. I am honored to spend time with you," said Sarne taking a sip of the wine, with a little slurp. Then Sarne gave a sly smile and chuckled.
There were a few nobles that looked his way and stuck their nose slightly up at him. Sarne did not even give them the satisfaction of looking back at them. On the other hand. Sarne had to signal Nordic and the others to sit down. Nordic just growled in discontent.
"As for the title, I don't know if I want it. I don't want to be like the others, Some stuffy noble. I like the way I am. Lord and a Knight well I will always be that. to the people and orphans, I can always help." remarked Sarne.
Some bead and cheese was brought to the table some simple food for them to snack on. The waitress left Sarne looked back at Alicia. "I did have something made and thought about who I would trust with this gift. I decided it would be you if you expected it." Sarne pulled out a wooden box. The box was nothing fancy.
Sarne opens the box of two ornate Friendship rings. "These rings are said to magically bind itself to your soul upon receiving the ring. This ring is not for Me to wear, instead, it is meant to be given to another like someone you trust, care about, or value immensely. While you are wearing the ring, you can read the emotions or mood, and tell if I am happy, sad, scared, etc. The wearer of the ring is also able to cast a spell, or use one martial or stealth ability that I own." explained Sarne in great detail.
"No, I am not proposing to you. Just a gift with no obligation to you. It was something I saw and thought it would be a nice thing for you. it could maybe help you if you are in need." Remarked Sarne.

Her cheeks flushed slightly at his words wanting to argue that she clearly did owe something but stayed silent for now merely nodding in agreement for the time being “right then”
She then listened to his words with a small laugh “it is nice to find a fellow knight wishing to help rather than just earn a title like some” she glanced to the nobles and back again “who just wish to flaunt it in front of others as if they truly gain any superiority over others. It’s just sad if anything” she said coolly grinning a little seeing some of the nobles turn a bit red with anger or embarassment.
Alicia thanked the waitress and snacked on some of the bread before pausing at the box and the ring surprised “you want…me to have it…? Are you sure? I mean I hardly think I’m a good choice for such a thing. It’s not something to give lightly and should be fore someone cherished right? I’ve heard of these rings before. I’ve done nothing to earn such a gift” she said confused and not sure how to react. Her cheeks were bright pink as she glanced up at him “I-i know it’s not a proposal ring as there haven’t even been any attempts at courting or proper actions towards that” she rambled without thinking

Sarne gave a worm smile "I would not offer it to you if I did not think you did not deserve it, Alicia," replied Sarne he took a drink of his wine. "You are worthy," He said reassuringly. He thought for a moment looking at Alicia. Sarne would not mind being a little closer to her the thought did intrigue Sarne. He did feel a bit nervous about going further with Alicia and their relationship.
Sarne fidgeted with his napkin not even thinking about it. Sarne's cheeks reddened some thinking about something like that would be. He swallowed hard. "Know I have my title to deal with as you know. I am not interested in someone else's" commented Sarne. "But finding someone to deal with mine might be a bigger problem," said looking into Alicia's deep blue eyes. Alicia's confidence was attractive. When faced with a challenge.
Sarne not taking his eyes off of Alicia. "Would it be so bad to be courting someone?" Sarne questioned. His voice was sincere but questioning. "Don't you want to spend time with someone when not solving the world's problems?" Sarne added taking a drink of his wine to hide this nervousness.

Alicia nodded a little and gently took the ring after the reassurance looking at it as she held it gingerly before putting it on her hand looking at it a moment before looking up to him “thank you… I will keep this gift close” she replied glancing up at him. She felt like she was burning up and she was sure her face was quite red at this point but she did her best to keep her composure. How was she supposed to react in this situation anyways?
“I don’t think I’m really cut out for such things…most want a proper lady. One who cooks and cleans and is dainty and care free. I’m afraid I am none of those things. I’m not even a true noble. My title only comes from the man who adopted me and took me in.not really most nobles cup of tea you know? I suppose though… it is a nice dream to consider. Father would be happy I’m sure and if they actually cared about more than status or arrangements maybe it could be nice to have someone at my side to journey through life with” she remarked in thought

Sarne being so nervous Srane Just chuckled. He did not know how to reply to Alicia. Thought and wondered what her upbringing was in a noble house. Sarne cleared his throat refocusing on Alicia. "I asked my mother one time what a good noblewoman is. My mother chuckled too. She asked if I had an interest in someone. Not that they did not try to introduce me to eligible women. I told her no just wanted to know." Sarne poussed to take a sip of his wine his heart raced some talking about this with Alicia.
Sarne breathed some to calm himself. "My mother gave me an answer I did not expect. She said one that will stand with you no matter what happens. The rest does not matter. She did add at the end and gave me grandchildren with a wink. My Grandmother Marchioness Sequoia of Silvermyist replied the same way. We have cooks, maids, and others in the employment so the mend tasks are not required in a wife." explained Sarne then his face turned red realizing how all of that must of sounded.

Alicia listened with a small pause before laughing a little bit "Had I not known you better I would be quite concerned of that last comment. But I can tell by your reaction that was not how it was intended" she smiled a little. "Your family has surprising values. I quite like them" she said happily. "My father cares more about my combat abilities over being a proper lady for the most part but I have always worried about being a decent noble" she replied thinking about it
"So what was it like being born noble?" she questioned with a curious look. "Ah sorry that may be a bit of a random question I am just curious since I am an adopted noble." she explained. She ha been lucky with how her life turned out and she hardly remembered anything before her adoption so it wasn't overly sad though she did wonder about things sometimes. Being here with sarne however she was more relaxed than she was with most people in her life. She typically never smiled or let her guard down around anyone but this was different. She messed with the ring she was given as they spoke thinking some

Sarne thought for a moment on how to answer the question. "It is to live up to a standard that most people can not attain. Starting in the morning your whole day is planned out for you. Led to each lesson dressed and taught how to be a noble and what is expected of you from your house. every day is a lesson in itself. It can be lonely because everything is so formal. If you make a friend you can make that a blessing." stared Sarne sounding a bit melancholy.
Sarne sipped his wine as properly as he could to make a point. Then he relaxes and does it again like he had been earlier. "Sure people say you have everything you need. but in a jail with everyone telling them what to do and when. You could compare it to a military school. That is why nobles do so well at them," Sarne explained with a smile. "Now where my family differs you earn everything, Nothing is just handed to you. My father used to tell me If you want respect you have to earn it. Yes my title gets some respect, but do I want them to respect the title or the man, and which one is better?" asked Sarne taking a cube of cheese and eating it.

Alicia frowned a little at that and tilted her head “I remember a few moments like that. Met a boy whilst father was having a meeting who didn’t seem happy about his role I think. Long time ago that was though. I’m sorry it was lonely… I suppose that was one nice thing with father. He was harsher with sword training than anything else really. A few of the people in the barracks were quite friendly as well” she remarked as she thought about it
She listened to him and nodded “that’s a good way to live. I’ve always had to struggle to earn the respect of those who are born to their station. Most see a street rat orphan even though father raised me since I was 6 or 8. Most of my life I have been in his care but because I am not his blood I have to try that much harder to prove I am worthy of my station and to be called his daughter. From having no one left and nothing of your own to being handed a warm bed, food, and a loving father…I need to pay him back for all he has done and make him proud of the child he raised. Respect of course is always better than a title. I could care less even if they were dubbed a king.” She remarked sipping her wine

Sarne was quietly thinking. "I... I have had the best someone could get. My sword instructor told my father not to give me any quarter. I could say I was beaten daily by him. To the point where I almost could not walk, I think others got better treatment than me. I am not complaining It has kept me alive." explained Sarne. "So I could say I know how you feel. Never felt I was good enough," said Sarne sounding a little sad in his tone. "I will now never know." He said looking down at the table.
"Wow, I sound depressing. I apologize," stated Sarne with a smile. "I know this is a happy moment right now being with you. I would not trade this for anything," said Sarne looking delighted to be with Alicia. "what do you say for a walk?" asked Sarne with a warm smile.
