Sarne had been pleasantly surprised that Javal was also heading east to help with the new threat in the area and to see his friend. Sarne was always eager to have a partner to travel the dreaded Marsh Flats with. Aside from the treacherous evils that stalked that place, Sarne simply disliked the bog, and having someone to speak with to occupy Sarne's mind was a welcome distraction. With Sarne's tactical mind, a fair amount of the time, Sarne was scouting for them in the air with his Terror Wing while Javal navigated on the ground. Nevertheless, time passed relatively quickly, and the partners made their way to the problem area. They discovered several grave signs of a pair of particularly troublesome Murkwood Spawn terrorizing travelers along this route. Sylvari and Sarne had given each other wordless nods upon this discovery, each committed to ending this menace before the monsters claimed more lives. The pair now walked side by side through the eerily quiet woods. They had forgone their mounts for the moment, not wanting to risk their steeds and also concerned about driving the creatures away from obviously powerful adventurers. Sarne had picked up a new trick in furthering his skill with his weapon, now able to make deeper cuts with his sward where it rested on Sarne's hip. It would be ready to fly from its sheath independent of Sarnes having to draw it. Wielding at the first sign of danger. "Well, Javal, any ideas on how to root these beasts out? From what I understand of them, they are nearly indistinguishable from tress when unmoving." Sarne gave his friend a grin, eager to disrupt the quiet tension that permeated this place.
Quest Name: What Lurks in the Murk Participants: Two or more Location: King's Valley (Kingswood) Post Requirements: 8 posts per person, 250 words per post Reward: +1 Mystical Archive Ticket, Choice of 1 Rare crafting material Description: A pair of Murkwood Spawns have been terrorizing travelers as they move through the forest connecting King’s Valley to the Marsh Flats. Instead of using sheer force to assault their prey, they stalk, using the forest to their advantage. Working together, they have managed to attack and evade many local authorities, with the Knights of Duros asking for help in the matter. Anyone brave enough to enter the forest and dispatch these two beasts will earn favor with both regions.

Being approached by the Knights of Duros was a great honor for Javal as he sat in his office going over the information he was given. Some Murkwood Spawns were causing major trouble through the forest of King’s Valley. It could not be allowed to continue any longer especially considering how important of a trade route it was for innocent travelers. Even if they were elusive beasts with incredible stealth and terrible power they were no match for the strong fists of justice. And so Javal quickly left his ship in a hurry taking his trusted lieutenant Nadia and his greater dragoonfly Shimmer, seeing them to be the most useful in such a delicate and dangerous mission like this. After a few days of travel from Thorock to King’s Valley, the party had made decent progress on the path.
It was there that the group came across a familiar face, Sarne Sequoia, a strong adventurer that Javal had grown to call his friend. He waved at the fellow and the two caught up for a little bit before the other man decided it was best for him to observe the skies while he kept an eye on the ground. The fellblood had great difficulty staying focused, often getting distracted by the interesting scenery, even stopping his team to look at a cool rock he found on the road.
He heard Sarne call out and responded, turning his head to look at him, “Hmmm..that’s a good question, my friend, why don’t we just ask them nicely? I’m sure if we’re polite and respectful they’d come out and hear us out”, he says as naive as ever.

Smiling then busting out in laughter at Javal's comment. He shook his head "Right, just ask bloodthirsty evil trees to come out and play?" sarcastically said Sarne shaking his head. "Let me tell you what we are hunting or is it they are hunting us?" Sarne paused thinking about that. "well, let me enlighten you, Javal," Sarne told Javal.
"The horrid creature whose skin looks like it is made of petrified timber. They are stalkers born from a combination of blood absorbed into the roots of plants, creating a creature of deep hostility and brutality. These spawns, once given life, lurk in the forest mostly." Sarne looked around at the ground. Then started to walk down the road.
"Their long, spindly limbs swaying like branches. Their hair is like long, dead leaves. The nature of their result has left them yearning for blood. Their hunting primarily takes place at night. This gives them the added advantage of blending into their environment. When they stand still and are tall, they can practically pass as trees. Like most trees they don't like fire." explained Sarne stopping and looking into the trees.
"Look here there was a struggle" as Sarne pulled some blood-soaked fabric from a bush. As everyone gets to where Sarne is you can see remnants of stuff everywhere. Probably a merchant lost his life there Sarne had not said anything it was obvious to everyone there. That the person was ripped apart and devoured.
"I way we move up the road some and camp when night falls in a few hours I am sure with a few lanterns lit they will come to us or we can go after them," suggested Sarne looking into the woods.

“Yes exactly”, Javal said earnestly pointing his finger towards the woods, “I am pretty sure that we’re the ones who are hunting them or that’s what the Knights of Duros said”, the fellblood had no sense of sarcasm whatsoever so was a little confused.
Nadia simply sighed a little ashamed at her liege’s obvious naivete, it was his earnestness that originally drew her into joining him but was the thing that also embarrassed her greatly.
“Woah”, Javal exclaimed loudly, “So you’re saying that any of these trees could be the Murkwoods in disguise? Why don't we fight every single tree in the forest? I'm sure we'd be able to find them better that way. But man, these fellows sound like tough opponents to face but I’m confident in our strength. We can beat them and make the forest safe once more for as long as justice and peace are in our hearts evil shall have no place to exist”.
The fellblood rushed towards where Sarne motioned and watched as the man pulled out signs of conflict from a bush. It raised Javal’s concern significantly, which meant someone had recently gotten hurt by these monsters. He shook his head in anger at the sign of painful struggle.
“We can’t let this happen anymore”, Javal said frustrated, “Let’s crush these monsters completely”, before nodding agreeing with the other man’s plan. He continued walking forward until Nadia pointed to a suitable spot for them to stop and rest for the night”.

Sarne looked over the area that Nadia pointed to. "Good pick Nadia it is at least dry here," commented Sarne as he walked around checking the shrubs and trees. Sarne wanted to be bate. Sarne did not want the Murkwood Spawns to be right there either. He looked around for tracks or signs of the Murkwood Spawns.
Kingswood covered the west and south of the valley. The forest has a mysterious hold over the nomadic tribes, as they refuse to enter the forest. The longstanding superstition from ancient times. The forest outskirts are pleasant with just enough daylight through. As you go deeper the trees become taller and older, their roots gnarled and reach deep into the soil and wide across the forest floor. Deep enough and not even the sun shines through. for them being on the road allowed more sunlight than normal.
Sarne lifted face face, letting the light and shadow dance across it. Incest chirped echo through the woods. Sarne inhaled its minty smell, amused by the sound of the party's feet stepping through the leaves. There was no doubt in his mind. The Murkwood Spawns were watching but just running into the woods would be treacherous and a bad idea.
Being ambushed by an unknown amount of Murkwood Spawns would give an advantage Sarne did not like. and being ripped apart by them did not sound like a good time. The party set the campsite up and started a fire in the middle of the camp. Sarne walked up to Javal. "Good spot, I am glad you just don't want to rush out here I think it would be too dangerous. would we win? I say yes but at what cost," said Sarne looking back at the others.
"They are out there I can feel them watching us but no idea how many there are and their camouflage is the best. we have two on the watch tonight if anyone can sleep," suggested Sarne scratching his chin.

“Thank you”, Nadia responds to Sarne’s compliment while Javal smiles proudly at his vice-commander. The young fellblood was about to sit down on a log and start resting but before he could do so Nadia quickly grabbed him by the coat and said, “Come my liege let’s follow Sarne’s lead here and at least try to check the area before we go and sit around”.
“You are right Nadia let’s take a look” and the two proceeded to do as Sarne did and looked around for anything suspicious. The two didn’t stop until the entire area was swept, only finding some cool bugs to be anything of note which Javal was very excited about.
Nadia sat down on a nearby log while Javal helped to get the campfire going before joining her.
“Thank you my friend but the credit is all Nadia’s, as much as I would like to simply fight every tree in here that’s a little reckless. After all some of these trees here are innocent in all this and being nice to the environment is what real heroes do. I’m sure I can take on a hundred trees though if I’d need to but that seems like too much harm to nature”.
Javal then glances around, “Yeah I get what you mean I feel like there are eyes all around us watching our every move. We’re on enemy territory right now with no real way of discerning their location. How’s’ gonna take the first shifts for the night watch”, he questions.

Sarne sat by the fire that was started for the camp they set up it was great that Javal and his did not just go running off into the forest. If the Murkwood Spawns were half of what people said about them there would be a lot of our party injured or worse dead. Sarne thought about the question of the watch. Sarne thought. "I will take the first one," replied Sarne. it does not matter the chances of surprising me out here are minimal." replied Sarne. Sarne looked around. "The comment about chopping down all the trees that crossed my mind. but unrealistic expectations," remarked Sarne. looking over Sarne saw a flock of birds fly out of the forest the sun was almost down the insects were out being very annoying. The whole sound of the woods changed as the nocturnal animals started to come out of hiding and hunt for food even the insects were doing the same Sarne watched as a dragonfly attacked and started to carry the prey off. Sarne wondered if they would be the next prey of the Murkwood Spawns. Sarne was confident they could come out of this alive. The horrid Murkwood Spawns whose skin looks like it is made of petrified wood. They are stalkers born from a combination of blood and plants, creating a creature of deep hostility and brutality. The spawns, once given life, lurk in the forest mostly ambushing their prey. It got darker as the night went on the moon was out and almost at the highest point of the night. the air was cool and damp. the sounds of the animals shifting now and then something was on the move in the woods. feeling something approaching Sarne opened his eyes. He did not move trying to look as if he was asleep. The three Murkwood Spawns moved towards the camp but from different directions when they got close the Murkwood Spawns rushed into the camp everyone was up and ready. One of the Spawns hit Sarne sending him flying through the sir. sarne laned with a thud and his armor was dented badly. Sarne looked up and groaned to let people know he was alive. Looking up at the sky Sarne looked up into the sky. [1] An aura of energy begins to radiate from Sarne, filling everyone with hope and strength. Sarne begins to inspire those around him to continue fighting, filling them with the will to continue going. Anyone who is considered to be an ally standing in your immediate area will feel their strength grow.

“As much as there are evil trees in the world there are also good trees and we as heroes must do our best to protect the earth. If we simply went around chopping the trees without care animals and plants would get hurt needlessly. Now we can’t have that, can we? It is the sworn duty of one Javal Zarrias to protect all life on this earth”, the fellblood exclaims, pumping his fist in the air with conviction.
“Are you sure?”, Nadia asks Sarne about taking the first shift after hearing his response she nods agreeing with the arrangement.
The two bid the adventurer goodnight then set their bedrolls on the ground trying to get some rest while Sarne took watch. After a few hours, both Nadia and Javal were deep in sleep and knocked out. However, with the sudden sounds of movement, Nadia jumped from her bedroll and quickly grabbed her liege’s ray bow frantically aiming at the Murkwood Spawns. She was always prepared for a battle and also a light sleeper, unlike Javal who was snoring at this point still asleep in his bedroll.
Nadia fired an arrow of light at one of the murkwoods bringing its attention toward her as she quickly rushed to try to avoid its wrath. It was only when Sarne hit a tree with a loud thud that Javal awoke quickly, yawning, “Is it our turn to keep watch already?”.
It was only then that he saw the battle in front of him feeling the sudden rush of power that he unsheathed his katana and charged at one of the murkwoods.

Srane sat up and got back to his feet with his shield ready and his sword up [1] Sarne's sword started to glow as the power built up in the sword. Sarne's blond hair turned to silver color. It shines like metal, His complexion turns tan-colored. Sarne's eyes change to a piercing gold. A pair of feathery angelic wings grow from his back. It just seems brighter around him.
[2] A beam of pure light shot out from the sward. This beam prices through everything in the medium range. The beam strikes the Murkwood Spawn dealing a large amount of light damage making a major wound. Flames shot out of the hole from the beam that burned throw the Spawn. The Spawn screeched in pain and reached to cover the hole with its long branch-like arms falling to one knee.
the other Spawn closed on Javal making wiping motions with its long tree-like arms trying to sweep or crush Javal. It hissed in frustration as it got closer to Javal. The last Spawn there was closing on the subordinates of Javal. The Spawn waved its arms wildly trying to get a swipe on one of the subordinates. Screaming and hissing doing it to cause fear in the subordinates. The subordinates readied themself for battle.
[3]Sarne smiled raising his sword into the air and looking at the Spawn he had wounded earlier. Sarne called down a beam of light of pure energy cascading down from the sky. The light covered the Spawn area, filling it with light. The light burned like the sun, scorching the Spawn's skin and causing it to take minor damage and be racked by pain.

“You treacherous oak fiends, how dare you surprise us while we sleep. How rude of you, did no one teach you manners?”, Javal would exclaim a little angry as he clashed with one of the Murkwood Spawns.
He glances as he sees a pure beaming white light go through one of their foes glancing around; he spots Sarne looking a little different. Was it his hair or his eyes the young fellblood couldn’t quite place his finger on it due to his severe naive nature. Whatever it was the other adventurer was looking better condition than he was before and seemed full of determination.
Before he could congratulate his friend on his technique he would barely have enough time to dodge the Murkwood Spawn’s tree-like arm. As it swiped barely grazed him it managed to cut through his pants and leave a faint bruise. He faintly grinned with amusement as he pulled back and slashed his attack through its arm, a faint ethereal blue glow (1) coming from it as his slash cut its arm clean off before it rose once again and slashed the other arm off leaving it armless. Nadia was focusing her attention on providing long-ranged support but as the last spawn charged at her trying to swipe at her she had to move fast. She quickly ran ahead trying to shake its trail before climbing up a big tree and shooting an arrow of light at its head as it tried to shake the tree she was on.

[1]Sarne jumped to his feet and sprinted forward at the Spawn. Sarne's were movements fluid and quick. Leading with his shield with its large spike. Sarne charged across the battlefield, rushing into the fray. Sending him dashing forward at incredibly high speeds, moving at inhuman speeds. Grass and water kicked up as Sarne sprinted as he moved others could feel the win as Sarne dashed forward. Seemingly starting at one point and just appearing in front of the spawn. Sarne slammed into the Spawn His shield spike punching into the Spawn. The Spawn buckled under the impact of Sarne as its body cracked and blood sprayed from the intense and powerful hit. [2] Pushing through Sarne lifted the Spawn off its root-like feet and into the air. Creating an opening to deal a blow from His sword. [3] Sarne swung his sword down with immense strength. cutting deep into the Spawn's chest cutting it almost in half. Blood spewed from the cut of the sward as the body burned from the light. The Spawn hit the ground with a loud crack noise as it broke from the hit. The Spawn laid their blood spewing from its injuries soaking the ground. Sarne standing over it breathing heavily. Rage could be seen in his eyes. He looked to be almost out of control and wild as he looked around. He roars when he sees the other Spawn. His anger builds as he is sent in to a rage his strength builds as he breaths heavy.
