Big Frizole follows close behind Haurach as they make their way to the camp, and once they arrive, he breaks off to release an icy blast of his own down on the patrolling men. His path crosses Haurach’s, covering the camp frost. As he breathes, small vents along his snout open up to expel a cloud of frost that obscures the drake, [1] making it tough for the arrows to find their mark even as he tears down through the camp and snatches an archer from the wall with his claws, carrying him off to toss to Haurach as a snack should she wish it. From a fortified tower, a much more armed man, clearly the veteran of the group, starts shouting commands to what few of his lackeys still stand. He pulls out a vial and coats his arrows in the liquid inside before notching one in his longbow and taking aim at Haurach as she banks around the encampment. [A1] When he believes his aim true, he releases the arrow, sending it flying through the air. Meanwhile, Astrid nods and follows Leandros to the camp as fast as their feet will take them through the woods. If their mounts are causing enough chaos, the two of them can slip inside the compound and head directly toward Athena. Surely enough, the guards have scattered for cover and are nowhere to be found at the gates, though the gates are locked. No matter. Astrid focuses her magical lightning until it takes over her entire form. Then, she pushes herself through the wood and metal that make up the gate until she emerges on the other side. [2] Quickly, she looks for the latch and undoes it to let Leandros in. Unless he gets in by other means, of course.

Haurach happily chomps and tosses away some of the weaker underlings. As she ducks for the smoke cloud, she spots the more competent marksman and hardens her scales causing the arrow to glint off her side.[1] The marksman tries to get another arrow locked, but the smoke cloud makes it hard to get another target. By the time Haurach bursts from the crowd, she's too close for him to react. The silver drake's claws rend the guard tower and send it toppling over.
The marksman manages to not get completely buried in the rubble by diving out of the top and onto the wall below. He groans as he pulls himself to his feet and takes off to get some distance from the dragons coming for him.
Meanwhile, seeing the gate in front of them Leandros keeps his sprint going. He jams the spear point of the halberd into the ground and vaults over top of the gate as Astrid looks for the latch.[2] Better to not make it obvious people are inside by leaving gates open.
"WHAT THE HELLS IS GOING ON OUT HERE? KIZRAN THE HELL DIDN'T YOU WARN US FER?" A large and broad-shouldered catfolk, patterned like a snow leopard with a greatsword on his back exits from a warehouse. His ears are torn and body covered in scars.
Kizran, the apparent marksman, calls back from the walls, "Sorry, they didn't exactly send us a letter and scheduled this with us."
Leandros ducks behind a building to watch the exchange and hope they aren't caught just yet. It seemed their plan was working somewhat. He looks to Astrid giving her a look of 'I can take this guy if you want to go ahead.' They could try and slip past him, but who knows how many others are about camp.

While the two drakes work to cause havoc in the compound, Astrid phases through the gates. Then, before she can get to the latch, Leandros comes sailing over the top like a regular athlete (he is). Alongside him, she dashes for cover when a voice starts shouting. The catfolk looks tough, but not anything that she and Leandros can’t handle. Considering the archer survived the fall from the tower and their familiarity with each other, these two must be the lieutenants mentioned in the report, and there should be a third somewhere. While the two lieutenants argue over who should’ve warned whom and how they would have managed to do that exactly, Astrid looks at Leandros who nods for her to continue along. All this carnage will have Javian’s attention, and he might be trying to escape with Athena.
With her own nod of understanding, Astrid decides that going straight for Athena might be the right play here, and she can get there quickly with Leandros able to teleport straight to her once she gets there. “I’ll get ta the buildin’ with Athena, an’ you teleport to me once ya deal with that guy,” she says, motioning to the Blink Buddy in her pouch. “If stuff’s too dicey fer me on me own, I’ll come back ta ya.” Then, Astrid pushes herself into the building they’re hiding behind[1] and uses it as cover to start making her way through the compound quickly.
Hearing a roar from above, Kizran halts his arguing with his catfolk companion and quickly notches another arrow. “These damn beasts. This can’t be coincidence. Haven’t seen anything like this around here before. Go check for bastards sneaking in while I deal with these.” With as much grace as a cat, Kizran climbs up some rubble to get another vantage point.
Not wanting to be bossed around but acknowledging that Kizran is right, the catfolk draws his greatsword from his back. The blade crackles with electricity as he holds it at the ready and starts lurking around to find anyone who shouldn’t be there. His eyes glisten when he peers in between dark buildings, ready to pounce on anyone he finds.

"As soon as you give the sign I will be there." He watches Astrid go for a moment before coming out from behind the building.
The catfolk's ears twitch, sensitive to every sound. He takes the battered greatsword from his back and rests it on his shoulder as he stomps out. A quick turn of the head focuses their eyes on the warehouse, pupils widening, but before he can go after it there is a halberd pointed in his peripheral.
"You face the Lion of the Landing, tell me where your boss Javian is and I will let you live." Leandros calls out, his voice carrying a pressure with it.[1]
A nervous twitch of the tail comes from the cat as he faces Leandros, "Yeah well, maybe the boss ain't here, maybe his is, you'll never find out though."
"Then your name warrior? So that I may see your soul to the other side."
The catfolk simply spits in his direction and Leandros sighs. Have it that way then. For such a large man laden down with armor and weapons, the cloud of dust Leandros leaves behind as he charges in catches the catfolk off-guard.[2] He just barely manages to bring his greatsword up as a shield when Leandros thrusts the halberd towards him.[3]
Metal scrapes against metal as the catfolk is sent backwards. Sweat beads in his fur, that was too close. He takes a gulp and goes invisible, paws leaving track marks in the dirt as he runs trying to get distance. Where the hell did this guy come from?
At the walls, Haurach is dowing all she can to weave between arrows. Kizran has a pretty quick hand when it comes to drawing arrows. She claws the roof of the tower he's in as she passes, but he manages to fire an arrow the finds a gap in the scales. Haurach roars and grumbles as she turns to make another dive bomb.

Astrid makes her way through the buildings, doing her best not to draw attention to herself (or at least the best she can being a girl literally made of lightning). She tries to move quickly, blitzing forward with magic[1] whenever she can and pressing her face through the wall first to check for anyone before she pushes all the way through. As she approaches the building Melodia indicated Athena is in, Astrid is especially cautious, expecting it to be full of guards.
What she does not expect, however, is to be face-to-face with someone who seems to anticipate her arrival. There’s a long, awkward moment where Astrid’s face, halfway pressed through the wall, is in line with a large draconynh who has bent down to her level to meet her upon her extrusion. As he lifts a Morningstar, Astrid steps back with a surprised yelp just in time for the mace to come crashing through the wood. The draconynh, whose eyes seem to glow with magic,[A1] peers through the hole he’s made in the wood to look at her with devious intent.
“I saw you coming,” he taunts as he stands upright. “Come out and face me, punk.”
Astrid decides to meet his energy, and instead of just pushing herself through the wall, she rushes up and smashes arm through[2] and barrels into the guy while she’s wreathed in lightning. He gets a good shoulder full of electricity[3] and stumbles back as Astrid gets her feet back under her and her hammer in her hands. Time for a fight.
Outside, the catfolk gets caught off guard by Leandros’ skill. Of course, he knows that anyone from the Fighter’s Guild coming to rescue their leader would be the most skilled members, and that especially means he shouldn’t get sloppy. His sword gives him plenty of reach, but the halberd has that twofold at least. He glances back to see if Leandros is managing to track him only to realize that it would be easy with the paws in the dirt. Fine.
The catfolk dashes into the warehouse where the dirt has been stirred up by people walking in and out all day and finds a place he feels comfortable in the open. With keen eyes, he watches for Leandros, pulling out a handaxe and readying it to be thrown. If the knight comes inside, the catfolk throws the handaxe toward the side as a distraction then charges Leandros to get a sneak attack on him.
Big Frizole lands on a crumbling roof and roars an intimidating and victorious roar before spewing out another breath of ice into the streets between buildings. This hunt is going well, he thinks. Until a large shadow crosses over him. The drake looks up, expecting to see Haurach, but instead he sees a massive dinosaur-like bird descending on him with claws extended.[A2] Caught by surprise, the drake covers itself protectively, and the claws rake across his scales without doing much damage.[4] When he looks after the pterodactyl creature, he sees Haurach aiming for the tower with that pesky archer.
The white drake lets out a warning roar for the other drake as he takes off into the air.

"Well, good, seems loke you have a little spark after all. Usually I don't hit kids or girls, but since you're both I think that cancels out." The draconynh rolls his shoulder as the electricity passes through, the muscles tingling a bit.
This man is slightly armored, at least the top half, with pauldrons and a breast plate. His large draconic legs are not exactly condusive to wearing armor, not on a bandits wages at least. You would need some serious gold to get that kind of custom armor.
Lightning begins to arc around the head of the morning star as he tightens his grip. He quickly closes the gap and tries to use his size advantage to bowl over the half-dwarf. The draconynh attempts to shoulder check Astrid and quickly swing back up as she stumbles back.[1]
Leandros is tracking the footprints, but he's not dumb enough to blindly charge after the catfolk. They are clearly more clever than the average bandit....and more devious. The knight sweeps the area slowly before tracking the catfolk into the warehouse.
That certainly was the smart move...many places to hide and smaller confines would limit how much Leandros could do with his halberd. His grip slides up a bit to compensate for the space before taking careful steps inside. As he does, he enshrouds himself in etheral armor. The ghost-like lion's man helmet now covering his head[1] gave him just enough time to catch the catfolk.
Throwing the hand axe certainly gets the knight's attention, but the pressure of his guardians slows the catfolk just enough.[2] Leandros hears that final foot step and raises his shield to bounce the greatsword back.
Haurach barrels through the tower, powering through some of the rubble that scuffs against her scales. Kizran takes a hit or two, but the dust clouds also give him a chance to hide. He wipes the blood from a cut on his forehead before taking out a vial of poison. As the drakes fight in the air, he could take the time to coat some arrows.
The silver drake kicks off another nearby building sending more debris through the air as she turns to try and come back to help Frizole. Claws outstretched, she attempts to claw into the back of the terror bird and slap it out of the sky.

“Good,” Astrid says with a snarky grin as she readies herself up, watching the draconynh and taking a quick stock of his armor. “Wouldn’t want ya goin’ easy on me. Otherwise, this wouldn’t be no fun.” When the lightning covers the morningstar, Astrid glances towards it but pays it little mind. With her entire form being made of electricity right now,[1] the lightning won’t do him much good. Getting hit still isn’t ideal.
Which, for some reason, the cocky dragonoid decides that throwing his shoulder into her is a good idea, so Astrid lets it happen. Lightning clings to his pauldron, sizzling the surface,[A1] and despite his greater size and weight, Astrid stays steadfast on her feet[2]. The morningstar still swings at her, and she raises her war hammer to block the hit, maneuvering it in a way that the two weapons are locked together.
“Ah come on, you can do better than that!” Astrid taunts. She reaches forward with her free hand with a hand charged with electricity and transfers lightning from her form onto the draconynh’s cuirass.[4]
The catfolk watches Leandros’ careful approach with intense eyes. Then, after he releases the handaxe, he charges forward with his greatsword raised. The most peculiar thing happens to him, which he cannot describe, and he cannot recover himself in time to shift his movements. Why is he so slow?? His sword clashes with the shield with a loud clanging of metal, breaking his invisibility, and the catfolk struggles to regain his footing for his surprise and the force of being pushed back from the impact.
Breathing heavily, the catfolk stumbles back and steels himself. Okay, more tact. And now he knows to be cautious of this strange spectral lion protecting the knight. So he thinks to try to break his guard. Circling around and placing his hands in a specific way on the haft of his sword, the catfolk looks for his opening.
“Are you mimicking the glory of a mighty feline or mocking one?” he asks, taking careful steps to the side and sizing Leandros up.
Unhappy with its presence announced, the Terror Bird pursues Big Frizole as the drake takes off into the sky. It circles around, ready to rake its claws against his back when suddenly Haurach ascends with great speed and snatches the Terror Bird by the wing. It screeches in pain, trying to recover itself. Big Frizole folds in his wings and turns midair to face the tumbling Terror Bird. With a mighty bellow, the drake lets out a spray of ice that throws the Terror Bird back, giving himself and Haurach space to recover while a cold cloud vents out around the white drake.[5]

"I told you that you face the Lion of the Landing, you are barely above a house cat." It was a little strange sometimes how hard the switch flipped when he entered a fight. The gentle giant of a man was gone and replaced with a hardened warrior. The tip of the halberd is always pointed towards the cat as they circle each other. He can see the cat stalking around him and readying himself, the signs of a predator ready to pounce were easy enough to spot. This catfolk was cautious, time to test that. Leandros suddenly tightens the grip on his halberd and takes a jab step forward, aiming to thrust towards the catfolk's face. The knight aims to pull the cat's guard up because when his vision is blocked by the sword, he quickly shifts the momentum of the shaft to bring the but end of the halberd into the catfolk's knee.[1] Far from a lethal blow, but heavy damage to the knee would slow the cat down considerably. Hit or not, Leandros keeps the pressure on by bringing the blade back around again to make a diagonal cut against his opponent. This was how Leandros tested opponents, how long would they be willing to shield themselves from his heavy strikes?[2]
The draconynh is beyond excited to have a worthy opponent for once. The little kid was a scrapper and he could appreciate that. Before Astrid can hit him in the chest, he uses his free hand to grab one of the barrels in the warehouse to smash her over the head. Inside is nothing more than some grain or other food good, but it is heavy and it would hurt. He's willing to trade blow for blow if the half-dwarf is, but he knows he has to do something to get himself free. He is far from out of tricks, but he couldn't doo much tied up like this.
Kizran pisses and moans below about another cloud of gas. It was impossible to get a bead on any of these creatures now. Screw it, he just had to trust his senses. He was familiar with the terror bird, he should be able to sense it. He aims his bow, arrows now coated in sleep poison, and pulls the string taught. A moment or two passes hoping something would come from the cloud, when nothing does he fires anyways. The arrow sinks into something as a screech of pain is hear. A clump of something falls from the sky, but it is neither of the drakes. Feathers peel off the terror bird as it crashes out of the sky. Before Kizran can get out of the way, its limp body slams into the tower he is in. The rest of the wall clutters around them as the terror bird lays asleep.
1. The Lion's Swipe This move emphasizes the speed and reach advantage of pole arms and longer weapons. The user feints with an overhead strike, causing the target’s guard to raise up. The user then shifts to strike the target’s leg or midsection with the back end of the haft. Depending on the area targeted, the user can momentarily stun the target by knocking the wind out of them or slow them down by striking the legs.

If a drake could laugh, Big Frizole would upon seeing the irritating archer’s comical demise. Instead, he lets out a victorious roar, his tail whipping through the air with glee. With a devious glean in his eye, the white drake looks at the silver one before diving down to the sleeping Terror Bird and releasing a gout of frost to lock the creature into a frozen prison to sleep forever.
With their weapons locked together, Astrid aims for the draconynh’s chest while he grabs a nearby barrel. Their attacks connect simultaneously. The barrel smashes into Astrid’s head, denting her helmet and threatening to daze her [1] while her hand makes contact with the cuirass and sends lightning coursing through it. [2] The draconynh howls in pain as the powerful lightning shocks his torso. He’s forced to disengage from Astrid, stumbling back and struggling to get the cuirass off, but each time he touches it, the lightning shocks his hands and numbs them to the point that he nearly drops his weapon. Astrid takes advantage of the chaos to rush forward and attempt to deliver three strikes in quick succession. [3]
The catfolk snorts at the insult, though he can tell by Leandros’ tone that this isn’t an overconfident buffoon in the guild – he’s likely a knight, especially with a title like that. Suddenly, the halberd is thrust at his face, and he pulls his sword up to deflect it only to receive an especially painful strike to the knee that makes him stumble. Rather than screaming in pain, the catfolk clenches his teeth and bares it. Another swipe comes for him quickly, and the catfolk dodges back out of reach as best he can, throwing up another cast of invisibility to keep himself safe. [A1] This can’t go on. The knight is considerably better armed and armored than he himself is. He needs a strike that will debilitate. Adjusting his weight off of his injured leg, the catfolk grips his sword with both hands, pulling it up into a position to thrust. As soon as Leandros’ halberd comes back down from the diagonal slice, the catfolk thrusts his blade forward with deadly intent. [A2]

He shouldn't be surprised that a bandit would resort to underhanded methods. Too much of a coward to face an opponent head on if they can't simply bully and overwhelm the target, instead having to resort to tricks and games. Leandros tries to hone in his senses to try and figure out where the cat has gone.
It is at the very last moment, but he can hear that hard step forward to thrust and gets his shield in front of him.[1] The greatsword still glides up and scrapes against Leandros' face, somehow not leaving behind a deep scar.[2] As this bandit continues forward, Leandros shifts the shield down suddenly and closes the distance. The tower shield slams into the bandits stomach and he is suddenly lifted over the knight and slammed onto his back.[3]
Leandros spins the halberd and attempts to drive the spear through the bandit's chest. Normally he would advocate mercy, but knowing what he did about this group they were beyond that. Plus he could not risk him recovering and threatening them at a later point, this was a threat to eliminate now.
The draconynh pants with a sickening grin as Astrid moves past him. He is enjoying himself a bit too much. He cackles with a ragged breath, blood spilling past his sharpened teeth and onto the ground. Pushing through the numbness, he grabs the collar of his armor and tears it off.
"COME ON THEN IS THAT ALL YOU GOT?" Much like his partner facing Leandros, this bandit knows he needs something to put the fight back in his favor. They were not ready for adventurers of this caliber.
He throws the cuirass at Astrid as a distraction as he sprints in. The draconynh springs into the air when Astrid's vision would be blocked and comes overhead with heavy handed smash.[A1] The enchantment on it and the force of the strike would be a powerful blow. Blocked or not, the head of the morningstar shatters and splinters from the last ditch effort.

With both of her hammers, Astrid manages to deliver three devastating blows in quick succession, crumpling what little protectiveness the cuirass has with ice and lightning. The draconynh stumbles back, and to her surprise, he is smiling. Oh, she does not like that. The only people who smile that kind of smile are either crazy or desperate. Oh, yeah. That’s desperate. “Erm, not really,” Astrid admits awkwardly, her voice echoing and warping with the magical lightning surrounding her person. “We only just got started.” Which, as unintentional an insult as it is, it’s still an insult. Suddenly, a cuirass comes whizzing through the air at Astrid, and she pulls her up buckler to protect against it. [1] Before she knows it, the draconynh is descending upon her with a powerful blow. Hesitation. Then, suddenly, magic swirls around Astrid, and an ethereal figure manifests between her and the draconynh, stopping the attack in its tracks. [2] The morningstar shatters into hundreds of tiny metal shards. Something within Astrid tells her to strike. With little time to think, Astrid shoves the head of her hammer up into the draconynh’s gut and pulses a great deal of magic into. The hammer glows bright white as an icy beam blasts the draconynh with more force than Astrid is expecting. [3,4] Concentrated frost crawls across the screaming draconynh, completely freezing him over. Once Astrid drops her hammer, the draconynh drops to the ground and shatters like his morningstar. Breathing heavily, Astrid looks at the frozen meaty pieces of the draconynh, then over at the spirit. “Th-Thanks, Melodia,” she says. Then she realizes that this isn’t Melodia at all. And come to think of it, she didn’t summon this spirit. This figure stands at about five feet tall and is vaguely humanoid, though its form is amorphous. Sometimes the morphing makes its face look like that of a bearded Dwarf. And other times, tendrils of energy gather around its head to look more like the horns of a Fellblood. Astrid stares at it for a long time, having absolutely not idea what this thing is or where it came from, though she vaguely remembers it being mentioned after the situation with the Ur-Beast. “Uh…thanks?” she says unsurely. The figure nods but does not speak. Nor does it disappear. When Astrid steps back, the figure follows with a singular step. It keeps in proximity with her no matter how she moves, and that admittedly freaks her out. There’s no time for this. Astrid rushes to a window to look out and see where Leandros is if she can, only to see him delivering a final blow to the catfolk from earlier. She’s glad she’s not up close because the dying breaths of the catfolk choking on their own blood would make her skin crawl. Nevertheless, she’s glad to see he’s alright. At least until two arrows [A1] whizz from the window of a nearby building aimed directly at Leandros while he pulls his halberd from the dead lieutenant. The first is bright red and aimed for his feet. The second flies with blistering speed and with enough force to pierce any normal set of armor. [A2] When the first arrow strikes the ground, it sends a splash of acid across the ground, [A3] a muck that makes it harder to move, shot with the intention of being a distraction and slowing someone to be hit with the second, much more powerful arrow.

The first arrow at his feet gives Leandros enough time to swing around and spin his halberd just in time to deflect the arrow.[1] He is thankful for that because the force of the arrow makes it clear how badly that arrow would have hurt. As he tries to step forward, the muck sticks to the armor of his boots.
The knight grimaces as he exits the muck, but can still feel himself slowed. At the very least he could move away from windows and make himself less of an easy target. Javian isn't so easy to escape. He loads up a few more arrows to fire, all with the intention to miss. What the bandit leader was doing was leading the knight to where he wanted. Arrows seem to come from odd angles and bounce off surfaces[A1] that make it difficult to pin point what is happening.
Well aware they are on his home turf, Leandros is trying to be as careful as possible. If he can at least keep Javian's focus, maybe Astrid can sneak closer. Before he can try and silently communicate any of this to his friend, another arrow comes whistling in.
The arrow is caught in the shifting block again, but that's what Javian wanted. A small bag of flash powder was attached to the arrow and went off in the knight's eyes.[A2] Leandros steps back as the light fills his eyes, accidentally setting off a trap causing a small explosive to drop from the ceiling. He gets lucky it lands on the side of his shield[2] but it is disorienting at best.
With the knight temporarily disabled, the bandit in the trees shifts his gaze towards the building he heard Astrid fighting in. The sparks of lightning and his lieutenant yelling were hard to miss. What would she do hearing all this? He readies an arrow expecting her to run to her friend's aid.

Leaning out of the window, Astrid nearly calls out to Leandros, but she realizes that might give her away (as if the lightning wreathing her form doesn’t). Instead, she watches intensely as Leandros struggles against a flurry of arrows fired from another building. Astrid shifts her eyes to follow the trail of arrows and spots where they’re coming from, but she can’t see the source himself.[A1] Either he’s moved or he’s hiding. Whatever the case, she won’t let him get far.
Astrid steps onto the window sill and aims her hammer in the direction of the arrows’ source. A bolt of lightning flies out,[1] and just as Javian’s arrow flies into the spot she’s standing, Astrid disappears into the lightning itself.[2] The arrow pierces through the wood of the window frame, sending splinters scattering to the wind. Astrid zips over to where she saw the hail of arrows before, though she didn’t have a clear path. She lands roughly on one of the rooftops and looks around only for another arrow to strike her in the chest when she peeks up. It’s evident that two more arrows were fired but missed because of her armor’s abilities.[3]
The strike is powerful and catches her off guard. Her armor reacts, tendrils of magic lashing out at an enemy that isn’t there.[4] The spirit catches up and somehow, despite its faceless nature, looks miffed that it could not stop the arrow in time. Astrid looks at it with a confused expression as she removed the arrow from her chestplate. “You can go now,” she says before leaping over the parapet and rushing toward the source of the shot.[5] The spirit follows, unyielding to her words.
Another arrow narrowly misses Astrid, firing right through an afterimage of her given by her armor, and she bursts through the open window into the dark room. Her eyes flicker a golden sheen in the darkness as she looks around, but despite this, she can’t see Javian. His unmoving form blends into the shadows perfectly,[A1] and when Astrid looks the other way, he silently rushes her with his blade drawn.[A2]
As much as he wants to hit her directly, Javian’s blade makes contact with her cuirass. It rakes across the surface with a loud screech,[6,A3] and Astrid cries out in surprise and pain, clasping her hands over her ears. While lightning arcs off her form through Javian’s blade to shock his arm, magic seems far away from her now. She can’t focus on it, not even enough to use the Blink Buddy to get away. The spirit interposes itself between Astrid and Javian before he can strike again.

Javian sneers as the spirit guardian comes out to protect Astrid. Damn kid has tricks. He'd have to get rid of that spirit for good before he's able to hit her directly. This just got a lot more annoying. Getting rid of her first was ideal, maybe chip away at the tin can's resolve and hope he can sneak in a killing blow that way.
The bandit leader hops back into a cloud of smoke that seems to erupt from his cape.[A1] He pulls out his crossbow and tracks the half-dwarf as he goes back into the darkness. He fires off a bolt that will explode outward upon impact[2] direct hit or not he hopes that wears on the guardian. In the shadows, he starts to change out some of the bolts as he watches how they react.[A3]
In the warehouse, Leandros struggles with the temporary blindness. It's an affliction he has little resistance and remedy for. From the sounds outside, it seems he's come out of the shadows...at least for the moment. He can't track the bandit's footsteps, but the sound of fighting is hard to cover up.
The knight shoulders his way through the door and slowly blinks away the spots in his eyes. Inside he is furious with himself for being caught unaware for something so simple, but he can see Astrid's form and she is still upright. A good sign.
"JAVIAN." The Lion of the Landing roars as he strides in the direction of where Astrid is, strong arming his way through the blindness. he has enough sight to protect himself if need be.
"RUN LIKE THE RAT YOU ARE ALL YOU LIKE BUT YOU WILL NOT ESCAPE THIS PLACE, SURRENDER WHILE THERE IS STILL A CHANCE FOR MERCY." The etching of his family crest on his breastplate glows brightly.[1,2]

At first, Astrid looks exasperated at the spirit, but when it interposes itself between Javian’s bolt and Astrid, taking the explosive hit,[1] Astrid finds herself grateful for it. “Fine, ya can stay!” she says, quickly ducking back behind some furniture in the room. Javian’s going to be hard to see or hit. She tries her best to draw on her magic, but she can’t get anything to come out with how loud the ringing in her ears is.
Suddenly, Leandros comes bursting through the door and shouts at Javian. The spirit’s face looks to Leandros, seemingly steeling its own resolve and defensive stance. Then, as Leandros shouts, Astrid finds herself wreathed in holy light, a warm aura that feels protective. It reminds her of the spell that Vikram once cast on her to keep her safe. Maybe it isn’t exactly the same, but it’ll do. This will keep her safe. Leandros is doing exactly what he promised Cantio he would!
When Astrid peeks at Leandros, she sees that he’s not looking in any particular direction. She isn’t sure if the spirit will protect Leandros, but she will. While she can’t cast spells, she still has other tricks. The monkey’s paw isn’t the right move here, but maybe if she can get a hand on Javian, she can force him into melee combat against herself and Leandros. With the protective aura around her, Astrid feels confident in that. So, she pulls a bottle out of her bag and dumps the viscous orange liquid over her hands,[2] and then…
Astrid jumps out, making herself a moving target, and charges for the last spot she saw Javian.
