Ijin Esteed
Gender: Male
Age: Unclear
Race: Salamander
Nationality: Unclear
Appearance:
Personality:
Ijin is a stubborn man. He is set in his ideals that there is a proper way to treat others, and he does so with reverence and consistency. He treats others chivalrously and seems to have a firm belief that even the darkest souls can be saved in one way or another. He values nature greatly and tends to side on the order side of things.
Not many things agitate him, but when agitated beyond return, his temper tends to be rather violent and unpredictable. He can often lash out and snap without regrets or relent.
History:
Ijin Esteed was born into a wealthy family of mages. He was set up to become the best of the best in terms of magic. He was born with magic practically running through his veins instead of blood. This singular fact made him quite overconfident. He was obscenely overconfident. He thought the world was his as a child and his parents often treated him like it. This led to him rotating through care takers trying to figure out how to deal with a hellish misbehaved child.
He often caused trouble for those who took care of him. He terrorized them with senseless antics, got them fired by framing them for pointless acts that his parents were not pleased by, and all the while used his magic for mayhem. Things continued like this well into the time he was around twelve before his last caretaker. His last caretaker turned out to be a witch.
After another year of torment from him, not only had she become ready to quit she also decided that it was time the boy learned his true place in the world. On a quiet evening in their lavish castle, the witch snuck in and cursed the boy while he slept and by morning he had been turned into an actual salamander. He awoke disoriented and unable to speak. He could suddenly no longer use the magic he had developed and found himself in a state of loneliness and despair.
Using his best efforts, he attempted to alert his parents as to what had happened, but not expecting the witch having done something so cruel as to replace their son with a doll, he was caught by his mother and thrown out of the house. His lavish life of ease and convenience was over.
Talk about learning things the hard way.
For longer than a century, he wandered about the world consumed by his own desire to die and his existence to end, but the witch had made bigger plans. Not only was he condemned to salamanderdom, but he was also condemned to immortality in a form he simply didn't want anything to do with.
After years of living in solitude, one day he managed to be captured by a human and put into captivity, as if life didn't suck already.
Soon, it became evident that this human was not an ordinary human and could also use magic, but was forced to practice and develop in private. Even as a lizard, Ijin was no dummy when it came to magical potential. He managed to escape his confines and he would place himself with intent on books and research for the human to read and become developed with. It didn't take long for the human to realize he was no normal salamander.
In this time, he himself began to learn the flow of magic through his lizard form and began his penance with this mage. Together they set out to save the world that was slowly becoming enveloped in chaos magic. Along the way, Ijin lived yet another life. He learned to live for others. He learned to protect instead of cause pain. He used his magic for what it had been originally meant for him to use.
His family had become long lost to history as some of the greatest mages, but he chose to release their name in favor for a pseudo name. He came to learn that he could once again take human form if he chose to acknowledge his true name but knew very well that it wasn't to be used lightly.
When all was said and done and he thought his story was over, in casting one of the strongest spells known to his world, reality broke and shifted. He made a wish and it was granted. He found himself plucked from the world and life he knew and he was launched somewhere else. This brings him into the story of Charon, where his magic seemed to have been slapped by the good ole' reset button and he awakens, oddly sentient, and able to stand for the order he had come to believe in.
