Goldie was taken aback by her response. She felt that Sylvi would reject her for her curse. Other than Guardian Angel, the young woman didn't have many people to accept who she truly was. Well, nobody accepted her curse since Guardian Angel. There was a huge lack of social interaction in the first place.
Goldie looked at Sylvi. The woman was going to show her something about herself. Goldie deep down was scared. She didn't show fear, but her expression was discomfort. Goldie was expecting the worst to occur. Goldie shut her eyes as if Sylvi would hurt her, but then her eyelids slowly bounced upward allowing the sight to be picked up once. Sylvi proceeded to smile and bare her fangs. Goldie was not scared. If anything, Sylvi not attacking her was not a relief. Sylvi was just like her. They were both people who discomforted others. However, Sylvi was a new friend. Friends do not attack friends. Friends don't judge others based on their appearance. In the end, a good friend was relatable and understanding. Deep inside, is what makes them a friend. That's what Sylvi was.
Goldie accepted Sylvi's hand. She grasped it firmly and smiled back. However, Goldie didn't understand the whole picture.
"What are you?" Goldie bluntly asked.

Sylvari was braced for an expression of fear, ready, even, to chase the girl down to protect her from the true monsters of the woods. As glad as she was that such a chase proved to be unnecessary, the vampiress was taken aback by Goldie's question. In fairness, the girl had told Sylvari that she had lived in these woods her whole life, effectively, so her lack of knowledge about the myriad predators of the world was hardly surprising. Still, the justiciar felt a lump form in her throat, never before having to explain the details of her curse. She swallowed hard, a nervous gesture, one that was no longer necessary for an undead such as herself, before speaking.
"I'm... well I am subjected to the curse of vampirism, dear. I drink the blood of others to sustain myself as I am no longer living to obtain nourishment naturally." As a way of illustrating her point, Sylvari removed her gauntlet, revealing the pale flesh of her arm as she retook Goldie's hand. While her touch was soft and gently, Sylvari's skin was unnaturally cold, the lifeless husk of a corpse. "My particular... variety, I suppose, manifests in drawing the raw arcana within a person. I... can sense it, like I'm sensing your abilities in Light arcana right now."
Sylvari smiled sadly, fearing moving too quickly for fear of startling her friend after the shocking revelation. "All this to say, Goldie, I know what it is to be ostracized, to be cut off from loved ones for things out of your control. Your malady, whatever it is, does not make you unworthy." Sylvari extended her unarmored hand to rest gently on Goldie's chest. "Your heart is the bearer of that distinction." The vampiress gave her friend a hopeful little smile.
