His head nodded as they gave their responses. Yet as their words filled his ears like a carafe emptying its contents into a glass he could only nod as his glass seemed bottomless in comparison. Their responses left him oddly unsatisfied. His eyes began to dart back and forth between the two. She spoke with such confidence and the boy gave Quincy the feeling that he was truly wet behind the ears. To think others would just ‘come around’ Vinny’s naivete spoke volumes. Yes he was unsatisfied with these answers they felt as if they were both lacking something.
Sylvari’s words felt like a profound dish, garnished and prepared with only the most delicate of care and thoughtfulness yet they left out salt entirely. Vinny’s was something you’d expect from someone his age; put together using ingredients he only had on hand and though it is edible, you can tell that the preparation was done on a whim and his choice of methods were due to his lack of knowledge. Two people cut from such different clothes yet they both gave answers that were far too close to one another than he’d like.
Did the Justiciar have an influence over the boy in some way? How long had they known each other? It didn’t matter. His eyes glazed over as he began to fall deeper into his own mind as the questions began to pile on. He was met with a sudden reminder as he felt her hand on his arm and his eyes snapped to meet hers. His lips formed a small disingenuous smile at her kind words and his hand met hers before gently rejecting the gesture. “You have it mistaken. I don’t think your oath a prescription as much as a yoke that limits you…I think it’s time we parted ways. I think Vinny and you have a boulder source to contemplate on and I have a barstool calling my name.” With that Quincy left far more quickly than he had entered the area.
