“That sounds great my friend, it seems you have had a noble and just spirit since a child and have had great role models and as for the bracketing, I’d love to work on that.
Javal looked over to the orc as he called on the other workers to pick up their pace to match the pair of adventurers.
He raised his hand to say something before getting a dirty look from a dwarf worker who shook his head at Javal as he placed his hand down.
“What is that fellow’s problem? I only wanted to ask if the orc fellow wanted us two to help the others improve their pace. I suppose I must respect their determination and self-sufficiency because both of those traits are honorable”, he whispers to Sylvari.
He then quickly bows in the direction of the workers apologetically before turning his body to his goal, ready to get back to work.
He then grabs a pile of wood and enters the middle of the would-be house he grabs one and places it on the supports before hammering it together he then continues that process before stepping back and observing his nicely done work having the brackets up.

An amused smirk spread across Sylvari's face as she leaned over to confer with Javal. "Rank and file workers don't tend to like standouts. It makes them look bad by comparison. I personally don't see the purpose unless you do your utmost, but many would rather muddle through life."
Sylvari went to gather the pitch and tar for the roof. Luckily, the materials were already ready and set aside for her, so Sylvari merely had to transport the items and begin preparing as Javal finished the bracing. In a conciliatory gesture, Sylvari had waved the other workers on to the next house, figuring her and Javal would be able to complete the project alone as fast as they would otherwise, without earning any more ire from their fellow workers.
Sylvari was pleased to see the brackets almost in place already by the time she returned, and she assisted Javal in setting the last of the supports in preparation to finish the roof. Then she began arranging the thatch and layering the pitch to prevent any weather leakage.
Sitting back to survey her work with pleasure, she turned to Javal, to make some light conversation. "So, where does the road lead for you after this? More good deeds of construction?"

After Javal had finished his own work with the bracketing he was thinking more about Sylvari’s words about the worker’s disapproval and sat with her explanation.
He then whispers to Sylvari, “Oh really why are we being considered standouts if we are just being good at our assigned tasks? These fellows should want to improve their craftsmanship and skill not judge others for their advanced abilities”, the thought of looking down on others confused Javal as he has always never tried to downplay anyone before only uplifting them.
He smiled as he thought of what he would do if he was a construction worker by trade, “I’d probably see this as a good way to train myself”, he said in his head.
Javal then continued to work and walked over to get some hay for the roof before walking back and starting to place it on the roof.
He smiled at Sylvari’s question and said, “Well my friend I plan on continuing to do things like this, helping anybody and everybody in whatever ways I can. I want to expand my organization and spread the word about the Drakon Security Company. I plan on evening exploring and discover the mysteries of my past. What about you friend Sylvari, what do you have planned after this?”.

A gentle smile graced Sylvari's face as she laughed lightly, the sound reverberating like a bell. "It seems then, good Javal, that kindred spirits are we. My future holds much of the same. I've pledged my life towards the good of others. Whether it's training, fighting monsters, or building homes for those that need it, everything I do is in service to that goal. Speaking more specifically, I think my next journey shall take me to Frost Gale. I've heard of a legendary trainer that way that can guide me to further strength and mastery."
A nervous look spread unconsciously on Sylvari's face at the thought. It has to work. Surely the Master will be able to train me to control my thirst. I need to get it under control before I can think about uncaging more of my powers.
Noticing that her visage fell, Sylvari quickly wipes the look away with a forced smile and finishes her work on the roof. Despite its quick construction, Sylvari anticipated the home would withstand any beating that nature could give it. She sighed internally. People should have a home they can rely on. No one should be uprooted without warning or recompense.

Javal’s face brightened up as he heard Sylvari’s response to his query, “Why that’s delightful my friend, I am so glad that I have met another person of such an honorable personality as you. Although indeed it may be less exciting than regular adventurers, stuff like this is important for any noble adventurer to do. We have to help out the common man. It is our sworn duty as heroes. I will say I love fighting and defeating powerful opponents, I enjoy challenging myself against other people. Frost Gale, you say? Legendary Trainer? What is that about my friend who is this person I would like to know perhaps they could teach me to get stronger”.
Javal’s face turned as he noticed Sylvari seemed a little nervous, “Is she okay?”, he thought to himself concerned about his new noble friend.
Javal finished his work on the roof as he placed the final amounts of hay to pad the house in, so far their work was looking like one of the best among the construction crew, although they’d need to get started on stuff like the walls, doors, and windows.
Javal then asks, "Hey Sylvari what should we work on now?".

Sylvari nodded her head in agreement at Javal's words. "Exactly my thoughts. Too many adventurers I've met are only concerned with being heroes for personal benefit. They want the flashy kills and debonair rescues so their names are lauded far and wide. True, sometimes a good sword arm is what is needed to protect folks, but a good heart and a steady ear are just as valuable and more widely applicable. True heroism is being whatever someone needs in that moment. To discount people out of hand because they don't have a request that suits your tastes is an ugly, mercenary form of justice."
Sylvari scrunched up her face in disgust before continuing. "Heroes are leaders; they are symbols. They may enjoy benefits others don't but much is required of them to earn such rewards. Heroes strive to be icons, models for others to aspire to and spread good in their own way. Having a hero's reputation besmirched is worse than never having the hero at all. They need to be leaders, and the best leaders are servants to their flock."
Sylvari suddenly realized her lengthy monologue and blushed slightly. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to preach at you, Javal. As to the trainer, I can't say much. I've only heard rumors myself, but if there is a chance, I must take it." Sylvari shook her head to clear away the thoughts. "Let's go see if the foreman has any more projects for us. It seems we inspired the other builders and the second home is well underway."

Javal was so happy as he continued to speak to Sylvari it wasn’t common for him to run into people who carried the same sense of honor that he had.
He giddily responded, “I completely agree with your statements true heroes who embody the real spirit of adventurers are the ones who must sacrifice for others sake. Oh of course I know exactly the folk you’re talking about I’ve encountered such fellows all the time. Even my sworn brother is like that as well. He's a bit of a pompous fellow son of a noble and raised on a silver spoon. He has a good heart but hates doing anything that he deems as ‘commoner’, Although I’ve done epic and dangerous missions myself and find them exciting I still like doing regular stuff like this”. He says placing the final nail on the house before stepping back to observe his and Sylvari’s work.
He responds to her other comments, “No worries my friend I can understand getting lost in your noble speech. I fall victim to that too”, he follows her towards the foreman as he is now seemingly calmer than before sipping a cup of coffee writing down plans and diagrams on his desk.
Javal goes forward and asks, “Hello there sir we have just finished the task that you assigned to us. What else can we help you fellows with?”.
The man responds a little quickly as he doesn’t even lift his eyes from his work as he says annoyed, “Eh, I don't know go make some fences for cattle and farming areas '.

Sylvari merely gave a brief nod at the foreman's words before heading off toward the fields. She was happy the pair were able to expedite the building so much as, looking to the sky, she saw night was fast approaching. They could at least knock out some fencing before the workforce retired for the evening, a good start in the rebuilding efforts. Other than minor tweaks and construction here and there, the only other thing left was to make the rebuilt village seem lived in, a decidedly more difficult task, but one that Sylvari was unable to help with. Setting aside her nomadic upbringing making her a less than ideal candidate for this task, it was time for the vampire to be moving on. She was still afraid of becoming to ingratiated in communities.
Luckily, as she and Javal had cleared so much forestry earlier, there was still plenty of lumber left for their tasks. Sylvari began using the available blades to sharpen the ends of some of the poles before driving them into the ground with her club, setting the framework for the fencing. With the perimeter of the fencing set out in a satisfactory manner, and with approval from Javal, Sylvari began assisting him in affixing the crossbeams to the guideposts.

Javal nodded as the foreman gave his irritated orders and walked towards the fields alongside Sylvari carrying a large pile of lumber that the two chopped from their earlier chopping competition. He then sat down on the floor below, took out his katana, and began sharpening and shaping stakes for the fence posts.
As he sat he decided to speak to his new friend, “So friend Sylvari do you mind telling me your fighting style? Do you know any magic? What's the history behind that armor of yours? Did you buy it or was it given to you by a family member?”.
Javal then began working on staking the wooden poles into the ground as he and his newfound friend spoke, he clubbed them into place with the bottom of his blade.
He looked over to Sylvari and agreed with her suggestion to work on the rest of the fence, and he then began placing slender pieces of already cut beams onto the stakes and letting Sylvari hammer them in. They continued to do this for about twenty or so minutes until finally they finished.
As the two finish, Javal stands proudly and observes their work, “Alright friend Sylvari it appears that we have finished the task that the foreman fellow gave us”, he then looks around to see what the other workers are doing and sees that most of them still had some more to go until they finished their parts of the constructions before looking back at Sylvari, “So what should we do now my friend?”.

As the pair worked together, the coordination between Sylvari and Javal seamless already, she paused to consider her partner's words. "The armor itself is nothing special. I didn't take any armor with me when I left my people, so this set was just bought piece mail to simulate what I'm used to. My training was pretty simple, all things considered: just the basics of dodging and blocking and how to strike effectively. I'm accustomed to being the anvil, in my people's parlance: I catch and hold the enemy's attention while the strikers deal lethal blows, though, being on my own, I've certainly had to learn how to supplement my own offense. As far as magic, while not part of my training, I have been... exposed to a lot more arcana in my travels, I've just yet to meet a master who can help me hone that potential. I can certainly appreciate its practical benefits."
As Sylvari and Javal finished up fence duty, she looked with him at the other laborers finishing up their jobs. They likely won't appreciate us encroaching on any established projects. The scent of freshly made stew and bread wafted into the air around her and Javal. Sylvari smiled. "Helping serve the food seems like the best way to assist now, wouldn't you say?"

Javal nodded at Sylvari’s explanation of her abilities before responding, “Well that armor looks very well made I shall say. I myself bought a set of armor and received a cuirass from what I think was my father. I don’t usually wear it when I’m doing missions like this, only donning it alongside my full arsenal during times of emergency or a fight against a strong opponent. Being an ‘anvil’ is a very important task. I usually act like that during missions bringing the enemies attention to myself while my employees can deliver strikes. I myself received my bond to the sea domain when on my pirate ship, I kept falling off of it so much that eventually one day it just spit me back up. Since then the sea has always seemed to fare me and help me out giving me a connection to water and ice magic. I’d be happy to teach you some things about the sea domain if you’d ever like”.
Javal agreed with Sylvari’s assessment of the other workers and lit up at the suggestion of cooking some food for the workers.
“I’d be happy to cook for them to help them rest and relax, what should we cook? Do we need to look around the forest for some ingredients? How should we cook? Do we have any furnaces or cauldrons around? I have some experience cooking at my mother’s tavern I’m a half-decent cook if I do so say myself”,

Sylvari merely laughed at Javal's suggestion, pulling him along to where the stew was already bubbling. "No need to do all that. I think we've stood out enough today. Let's just grab a ladle and give the people their just reward for all their hard work." Sylvari grabbed a couple of aprons that were hanging on a nearby tree bough and pulled one on, over her armor, before tossing the other to Javal. Certainly, the apron stuck out at odd angles over Sylvari's impressive plate mail, but, judging by the rapidly forming line of hungry workers, she didn't have the time to doff her armor.
Once Javal had his apron on, Sylvari pulled him to a station beside her, doling out the stew by the generous ladle-full, while her partner handed out the accompanying bread and utensils. It was a big undertaking, feeding this many hungry people, but with the coordination of the other kitchen staff and Sylvari and Javal's efficiency, it wasn't long before the pair were seated together on a nearby grassy knoll, enjoying servings of their own. Well, Javal was, at least. Sylvari, for her part, merely forced herself to nibble on a bit of bread. She would slake her thirst later.
Sylvari looked over at her companion-by-chance. I certainly could have done worse. Javal made the day pass quickly and enjoyably enough. To think, I was mindlessly digging a ditch before he came along. She smiled at her companion. "It was a pleasure working with you today Javal. If your combat prowess equals your skill at construction, you must truly be the scourge of the seas." Sylvari gave an impish smile accompanying her joke. He was a good man. Sylvari didn't generally think much of pirates, but she got the sense he was very different than the standard.

Javal’s head turned as Sylvari suddenly dragged him where there was already food ready to serve, he faced palms as he realized all they needed to do was just serve the food to the tired workers.
He quickly shakes his head trying to move on from the embarrassment, “Sorry I got a little carried away, let’s do the best we can at serving these real heroes of the community”, he says as he catches the apron that Sylvari tossed over to him.
He places it over his sleeveless coat and ties the string nice and tight around his waist before quickly getting grabbed once more by Sylvari which surprised the fellblood that she was able to drag the fellblood around. After getting told his task he put on a bright smile excited to serve this whole thing and reminded him a lot of what life was like back home. He did his best to provide a single bread piece alongside utensils to every one of the customers once they finished getting their bowl of soup from Sylvari.
After their hard working day, the pair of adventurers sat down in a nice grassy spot and ate their share of food. Javal quickly scarfed down his soup he raised the bowl to his mouth and drank it quickly before munching on the piece of bread.
Javal turned to look at his new friend worried about her as he noticed she was looking like she was forcing herself to eat a little bit, “Hey friend Sylvari are you feeling alright you hardly touched your food?”.
He then responded to her compliments with one of his own as he smiled, “Thank you my friend it was also a great pleasure to work with you today friend Sylvari. If your hard work and resilience as well as armor are to be considered then I’m sure you are a strong combatant that I hope to spar against someday”.

Sylvari looked up at Javal, sheepishly, over her bread at his question. "Oh, yes, quite alright, darling. I have a very particular diet I try to keep to, but I didn't want to seem ungrateful to the lovely crew that put this meal together. I can can choke down a bit of bread in appreciation for their efforts." Sylvari gave a weak smile, feeling the silence between them heavier than it had been all day, prompting her to continue.
"I suppose it must seem rather strange, being so picky as a wandering adventurer, does it not? How I wish I could partake in food along with everyone else." More than I can say. Realizing the strangeness of saying she couldn't regularly eat food, Sylvari gave a nervous laugh and flushed, rushing to answer Javal's compliment.
"Iron sharpens iron, and sparring against skilled rivals is the best way to improve. Just give me a bit of time to polish my own techniques, so I can provide you an ample challenge as well."
Feeling the night rapidly approaching as the sun hung low in the sky, and the accompanying restlessness and thirst in her body, Sylvari bolted upright. "Well, I really must be going. Thank you for all your help today, Javal. I should think we did quite a bit to help these people." A genuine smile graced Sylvari's lips, truly happy that she was able to help, in some small way.

Javal’s worried look quickly dissipated as Sylvari explained her just being on a diet, “I can respect that, keeping your body in tip-top shape is extremely important for us warriors. I salute your efforts to show your gratitude towards the hard-working crew that has helped us on our journey to build these houses”.
Javal then raised his hands in protest, “No worries friend Sylvari I’m not here to judge you, I can completely understand following a certain diet. I will not question you more about it since it seems to be a sensitive subject to you. Adventurers follow their ways so no one adventurer has to follow the norms everyone else follows”.
Javal smiles as he stands up holding his fist in the air, “I will be there whenever that day arrives my friend, I hope we can clash as strong rivals and have a swell battle”.
Javal then waved his friend goodbye as she left, exclaiming, “Thank you friend Sylvari, it was a pleasure meeting you, I hope to see you again someday”.
He then turned to make a journey to go back home to his galleon and crew, pretty tired and ready to go back and rest.
