It was nearly noon judging from the position of the sun, beaming down on Gwendolyns neck as she traversed the tumultuous landscape. The Expeditionary forces planned on mounting siege equipment out here for the coming fight, and she was hoping to be done before nightfall. Who knew what dangers lurked around these expanses during the daytime, let alone at night. It wouldn’t befit a noblewoman to be caught off guard by a pack of wolves or trolls, or whatever creepy crawlies may be lurking over yonder rocks.
Her veil disguised any fatigue she might be showing towards this trek. It had been hours of hiking in heavy armour to basically mark some spots on a map, it was time for a break. The maid that had been following her on this ceaseless journey had set up a small camp, including a fire, to settle down for a lunch. On the cast iron skillet she maneuvered above the fire cooked some sausages, as well as green-sprout gathered from the surroundings. It was burning slightly, but Gwendolyn had no desire nor energy to stop Jess from making an apparently sub-par meal. Her stomach growled in anticipation as a gentle breeze carried the smell of food directly at her.
