New thread for my regular adventures!
*continuing from Starlight City quest*
Pale, soft light from the peaking dawn broke through the trees, waking me up as it shone right on my face. Slowly blinking awake, I look around at the small camp Zenshu had made. The fire had smoldered down to small embers overnight next to me. Still overcome with exhaustion, I snuggled back into the small blanket around me. I shot back up, confused. I hadn't remembered falling asleep. Stretching, I got up. I stuffed the blanket into my pack before organizing my things. I noticed there was no similar sleeping spot for Zenshu. I found him on the beach, working out. Exhaustion ringed around his face and eyes. Spotting me, he ran over to give a polite greeting. After thanking him for keeping watch, I told him of my plans for the day and that I would find him again later that evening. At first he was concerned about my being on my own, but I reassured him that I was just as capable at kicking butt as he was. With this, I grabbed my things and left for town.
A good bit of time later...
Smiling, I walked off as yet another shell con man fumed and raged about his now destroyed market stand. Pausing, I easily side step as the con man lunges forward to punch me. I grab his wrist and fling him around, pushing him down with a sharp kick to the back of his knee. He counters by tackling me around the legs, taking me down. I grunt as my head thuds on the hard ground. He pins me down by my shoulder. Brandishing a long, thin dagger, he holds it to my chin as he looks down at me. "You're gonna pay me back for every gold coin worth of merchandise you wrecked, you little B*tch." He chuckles as I try to worm out from under him. Suddenly, I grab both sides of his face and use Create Spark, burning him as I dig my claws in. Screaming, he lets go of me as he pushes himself back, clutching his face. Hands still hot, I summon more small flames and grab his arms, holding him in place, burning him further as the whole commotion attracts the city guards. Glad to hand him over, I explain to one of the guards what happened, and give him what I know of the shell scams and how they've been used for drug smuggling. He gruffly thanks me before hauling off the now badly burned man.
Walking off, I sigh as I open and close my hand in a fist. I hadn't intended to use my magic, especially on a civilian. I could have easily taken him without it. But I had panicked. Running into That Man yesterday had made me on edge.

*anxiety is bad today so im making some more creative detailed material to calm down*
Shaking my lingering thoughts away, I made my way to a small lake a few miles south of the camp Zenshu had made.
The water around this part of the island had formed something of a small river, which in turn created a small waterfall and lake. Relatively secluded inside a circle of trees and greenery, it was a sight to behold, even among the heavenly landscapes of Crescent Isle's islands. Pristine clear blue water landed by cream white sand, filled with schools of gorgeous exotic fish. The crashing waterfall covered a small hollow cave system inside the face of a small rocky cliff. Capturing the sun's heat, the caves themselves were able to be a small water spa. Having come here for over half my life, I had transformed the lifeless hole in the cliff into an oasis within an already beautiful hideaway. I had spent years cleaning out the space, forming it into a small living area, with dry, flat areas farther in; some stolen furniture and storage. A small patch of sea kelp served as a small yet effective filter and barrier between the outside and inside water, which allowed me to use whatever bathing products I wanted without harming the fish, and keeping the water clean for my use. Besides that, I had grown a variety of plants in the water, around the beach, and on the rock face. Over time, it had flourished into a small ecosystem. I could always see small critters scurrying in the bushes, and birds of all kinds built a variety of nests. Overall, the lake and it's beach were totally secluded, and had become my small private sanctuary.
Using Frozen Feet, I walked across the water and took my things in the small cave. The entrance had two halves. The first half let water into the small spa. The second, which I followed, was flat rock that led farther in. Lit up by large bunches of glow berries, the cave was small, warm, and homey. Stripping down to my small black bikini, I stepped back outside into the rushing waterfall and jumped into the warm water.
Later, laid out on the beach, I dried out under the sun. I tanned out my legs, black pants set down to the side folded up neat, only dressed in a black panty set and a lavender sweater, of which the looseness made it fall below my shoulders and bunch around my wrists. I quickly set my hair into a loose braid, leaving my bangs to frame my face, before setting into the always daunting task of brushing, oiling, brushing again, and fluffing my tails.
Walking down the quietly lapping waves of the shore, I made my way to the small makeshift camp on the edge of the forest, and finding with it Zenshu making dinner. Making up my mind, I finally offered what had been on my mind all day as I sat down. "If you want, I've got a much better place than this for us to stay in between work. It's not far, and I've got plenty of extra space for you, and the dragon girl you mentioned can stay as well." Looking at him, I waited for what he had to say.

Zenshu was sitting at his little encampment on the edge of the beach with Kika his newly found student that joined his party. Looking at her he stated "I did not think your brothers would throw us out like that I do apologize that I do not have a place for us yet. But once we get some more work going we can find somewhere to set up a dojo of our own." With that comment Kika gave Zenshu a slight glare and said "Please Lord Zenshu do not call those ignorant fools my brothers, I am glad they do not know the truth of me and I am happy to follow you anywhere master." As she was finishing her sentence she heard someone walking up an quickly spun around and shouted "Master a visitor!" Zenshu sprang up from where he was sitting to see Brandy walking towards them with a cute braid an an oversized sweater, Zenshu tells Kika "That all is okay that is Brandy a dear friend of mine." Then Zenshu turned to Brandy saying "Hello lady Brandy what brings you to our little camp on this cool evening?" as Brandy as I sat down she says "If you want, I've got a much better place than this for us to stay in between work. It's not far, and I've got plenty of extra space for you, and the dragon girl you mentioned can stay as well." Zenshu stunned at the invite for it was unusual to him for someone to invite a half-dragon let alone two half-dragons to stay with them I guess you could say most half-dragons don't have the best of reputations. Zenshu bows immediately and signals for Kika to do the say while raising his head he says to Brandy "Are you sure about this do you really have room for us both? This is the kindest thing someone has done in a long time. I would be honored to stay in between work. I promise you we will help take care of the place do what repairs, chores and provide food as needed." Zenshu sat down next to Brandy noticing how the fire was flickering off of her fur, he can see she recently brushed her coat it looks so shiny and soft the way her sweater was hanging off of her shoulder made her look so sweet and innocent. Looking down at the rest of her outfit Zenshu turned a reddish hue as he noticed Brandy's lack panties nervous she seen him looking and a bit embarrassed, he began to wonder <"where her pants were???"> As his eyes wondered back up his glance caught Kika's who was looking quiet annoyed with Zenshu and in dragontongue she said <~You dirty man how could you do that quit being so naughty!~> Caught by Kika Zenshu's new pupal Zenshu apologizes to Brandy and explains what was said "I apologize my lady for I have done a shameful action and I have aught glance at your panties I bid you a thousand apologies, but my lady may I ask what happened to your pants?" Embarrassed and turning red Zenshu now stares at the fire to nervous to look at Brandy or Kika finally after a short while Zenshu offers Brandy some food and then say softly " If you will still have us we would love to stay with you."

Blushing, I managed to look at everything except Zenshu. "I had been swimming. Plus I can't really clean the base of my tails with pants on. I guess I uh.. I forgot." I chuckled as I noticed Zenshu's deep blush. "Don't worry too much. It's the same as a swimsuit. And as for staying with me, don't worry too much about being perfect houseguests. It's quite literally a cave behind a waterfall". At Kika's surprised look, I elaborated. "This waterfall comes off a cliff and makes a lake. The cliff has a small cave system in it. I cleared it out and made something of a home. It's kinda my little fox den." Grabbing the small plate Zenshu offered me, I sat down next to the pair. It didn't take long for us to launch into conversation. After an hour or so, we eventually reached the always touchy subject of childhoods. Since we were pretty close, and they had both shared already, I figured I wouldn't sugarcoat it, and just tell them my story.
"Both of my parents were Kitsune. My mother a witch, healer, and midwife. My father a battlemage. They were priests at a temple just outside Eclipse City. It was more of a small neighborhood with a temple in the middle. They were a collection of powerful magic users who worshipped the Pantheon. Monks, Mages, Shamans, Healers, Fortune tellers, all powerful. About half of which were Kitsune as well. About 40 of them, and with their families, about 100. In addition to worship, they collected together to protect themselves and their families from traffickers. My father died just before I was born. A poacher cornered him just a few miles away from home. Everything was pretty lush and good for a long time. I learned magic, witchcraft, healing, combat, anything and everything they could teach me. When I was 12... we were raided and pillaged. A large group of poachers, and every mercenary they could afford. Captured every Kitsune they could, any not captured were killed and taken for... parts." Spitting out the last word, I clenched my fists as the tears began to roll.
"Mother and I tried to help. We killed as many as we could, but they were many and powerful. With the job done, they set the village to flames. No one survived." Feeling the all too familiar anger start to boil up, I took a deep breath. Zenshu grabbed my hand and squeezed. "I remember there was this one woman who was always kind to us. She helped care for me after my father passed. She had just had her third child. I had just helped Mother with her delivery just a few days earlier. It was a difficult delivery, and the woman couldn't even get out of bed after. Mother ran back in to save them as the fire spread. I followed, trying to douse the flames. I got there just as the ceiling collapsed and crushed all three of them. I ran and ran." I calmed a bit as I wrapped up. "I've been in Crescent Isle ever since. Mother's friend Genelle took care of me for a few years, but eventually I went off on my own, since I was relatively independent already. At which point I moved into the waterfall cave. I had been using it for a few years, and it wasn't far from town, so it worked out. And thats been pretty much it as far as the heavy backstory." I sighed as I trailed off. Considering their own pasts, neither Kika or Zenshu were shocked at my telling of my background. Zenshu moved in to wrap me in a hug as Kika cleaned up dinner

Brandy AlayinSilently shocked at Brandy's back story Zenshu tried his hardest not to show it, Kika started packing their belongings while Zenshu spoke about is past as well. He felt it was only right as Brandy shared hers plus if they were going to be living together for a bit it would be best that they knew more about each other. Zenshu looks at Lady Brandy and then at Kika and says "Would you two like to head to the foxy-dragon den??^^" trying to lighten the mood a bit "Since you have told me your back story I shall inform you of mine while we walk"Zenshu stands up an reaches down to help Brandy up first then helps Kika he grabs the majority of the belongings an Kika then grabs what's left and they start to follow Brandy towards there new living quarters. they are walking about 5 minutes when Zenshu sighs lightly and begins his story. "As you may have guess I am of a rare race known as half-dragon my mother a full green dragon and my father a noble from Sol City, my mother transformed herself into a beautiful woman and seduced my father into sleeping with her. I do not know much of my father I only recently remembered his name its Lucian Nightbreaker, my mother birthed me in the Dragon's Cradle among the other dragons and when I was at the age of 3 my mother took me to the small village of Kogazasto in the Bamboo Forest on the Crescent Isles. It was there that she only took the form of her human self. She established herself with the locals as best as she could helping however they would allow, the next 4 years were the hardest for them they both had to learn to live among humans but as much as she despised them<humans> she told Zenshu she was doing it for him but really it was for her own future plans." They reach the edge of the beach and started to head into the forest, He clenched his fist an gritted his teeth due to the mere thought of his mother sends him into anger. Brandy noticed this tension and ticked Zenshu's nose with one of her tails then grabbed his hand an said "It's this way not much longer then you two can unpack an relax" slightly relieved Zenshu continued on with Brandy an Kika, Kika never really spoke much which at time Zenshu didnt like but he felt that was also part of being abandoned with the mages from a young age. Zenshu now feeling a bit more calm continued with his story "So growing up Zenshu had a hard time making friend he was always seen as an outsider with his reckless and rebellious nature he was in trouble a lot with the locals he would fight with the older boys who would tease him because he had a tail and wings. After months of looking his mother found a master for Zenshu and at the age of 9 he began training in extensive marital arts, weapons, and stealth training. On his 11th birthday his mother abandoned him alone to his master to train, this made him grow to hate her and wonder more about his father." Stopping for a moment to think about his overall goal in life to finally find out who is father is he looks at Brandy and Kika nods an he then continues. "Over the next 7 years Zenshu came to respect and think of his master as a grandfather and became his star pupal there were 5 others that his master would take in over the years, 2 more boys and 3 girls all of mixed races they were a tight knit group the only friends that Zenshu had been able to make." Smiling at the the memories he shared with them and the thought of now making a new friend in Brandy and Kika Zenshu felt as if he was able to share his life and be happy with others. Continuing he says"When Zenshu was 18 he set out to join the local adventures guild and continued to develop his skill as a warrior when he wasnt out on an adventure he would stay with his master. One time just 1 day before his 21st birthday while he was out doing an escort mission his masters estate was attacked, by the time he made it back to the estate everything was ashes, his master was dead burnt to ashes as well as one of the other boys was killed and one of the girls was severely injured. The locals told him it was a GIANT EMERALD DRAGON who attacked his master this sent Zenshu into a fit of rage and thus began his new adventure to find his mother avenge his master." Once he finished with that last bit they were at the waterfalls he and Kika were amazed by the beauty of it and they could tell all the hard work Brandy had done to make it comfortable, she showed them the entrance and where to set there stuff up Zenshu could tell that Brandy wanted to say something but seemed unsure if she should so he spoke "It seems we have all been through a great deal of hardships but we cannot let those hardships determine our life's outcome we will make it what we want. The three of us now have great bonds that will forever tie us together let us lean on one another and show this world what we can become." The pride of having friends who are just as unique as he motivated Zenshu to train but Kika and Brandy both told him it was to late an they should sleep for the evening. It had been a long time since both Zenshu and Kika have been able to sleep peacefully.

Surrounded in flames, I run down the crumbling hallway. Smoke blinds me as I try to navigate the debris. I trip and tumble down. Getting up, my run turns into a sprint as the screams ahead abruptly stop. Ducking under a wooden beam, I spot Mother running towards me, the kind woman and her baby in tow. I race to meet them, reaching out to grab them. They are only a couple feet in front of me just as the building groans, announcing its collapse as the ceiling caves in and...
Gasping, I shoot up, slicked in a sticky, cold sweat. Swinging myself out of my hammock, I wince as pain splices through my abdomen. I lift my thin night top to reveal a line of harsh purple and yellow bruising on my ribs. ~A few cute marks from yesterday's fights~ I thought as I got myself up for the day. Peeking in at Kika and Zenshu, both sound asleep, I get breakfast ready.
I quickly change into my bikini, and soon with a newly opened bottle of "Crescent Coast Fur Shine: Waterproof Formula" sitting on the ledge behind me, only carrying a small net, I dive headfirst into the lake. Opening my eyes, I gracefully swim down, colorful kelp brushing against me as I pass through. Having been here for years, the schools of fish barely notice my presence. In fact, I could swim through the middle of the schools without bothering them. Unfortunately for the fish, they were usually breakfast. Fortunately for me, fish have short memory spans. Reaching out with the net, I scoop up nine or ten fish. Soon, back inside, this time remembering to go and put on fresh clothes, especially pants; I'm slicing and gutting the fish by claw. Kika walks out of the now occupied spare room, groggily rubbing sleep from her eyes. A brief good morning and a bit of chatter later, and Kika scurries off to the water sauna to get herself ready for the day. How dragons, or half dragons, took care of their skin, well scales, was a mystery to me. ~A question for another day~ I thought. Using Create Spark to quickly heat them up, I grill the fish filets and set them out on a small wooden plate. Driven by the smell of breakfast, Zenshu finally comes out of the room. I chuckle as I spot his messy hair. "Well morning to you, good sir! I wouldn't have thought you to be a late slee.." I trail off as I realize he is totally shirtless.

Watching Zenshu walk off, I couldn't believe my eyes. Was that him... flirting? Completely red in the face, I shouted a quick goodbye as I left for the day.
Darting through the forest, my thoughts wandered. ~What did he want from me? Stupid dragon goes back and forth from playboy to polite and noble ally to doting and kind. Was he into me? Was I only a friend to him? Just an ally even? Why can't he be a bit clearer in his intentions? Stupid dragon. God Damn idiot. Stupid flirt of a hot idiot dragon. Stupid sexy prick of a handsome, muscular dragon~
I opened the rusted metal door and quickly shut it behind me, blocking out any remaining light from the stairwell. Now only illuminated by a few old candles, the small club welcomed me with its usual dark energy. Not a bar, not quite a meeting hall, the nameless club was a refurbished wine cellar designed to be a safe haven for the scoundrels, whores, thieves, and overall scum of Crescent Isle, like myself. Settling on a barstool, I waved over the young moon elf who acted as the bartender. "Give me the strongest shots you got." The elf laughs. "So you're usual? It's not even noon!?" "Guy problems."...
Having only counted the time in whiskey, I figured it was late evening. Sitting at a round table, I pulled the pile of my winnings in front of me. Having played for hours, the pile was full of gems, jewelry, and variety of small trinkets and weapons. As the others put more bets in the center of the table, I pushed about a third of the pile back in, accidentally letting the stolen cards in my sleeve fall loose. I chuckled as the men around me grew rageful. "The call me a sly little fox for a reason guys." Pushing my winnings in my bag, I get up and back away from the table. Being very drunk, I only succeeded in getting a few steps back before stumbling down. One of the men gets up, red veins popping out of his face as he leans down and grabs me, pulling me up by my shirt collar. "I don't take kindly to those that cheat me in cards, little lady." Wiggling out of his grip, I smile and spit right in his face. Growling, he swings at me, but I duck before landing a punch right in his nose. Scuffling for a bit, the man eventually pulls out a small knife and slashes at me. I side step, losing balance as I go to kick him. After a while, we get pulled apart by several bystanders. Watching him rage, it takes me a bit to realize his knife is slick with blood. Longer still to see the blood pouring down my waist. I burst out laughing as I examine the stab wound. "I've gotten worse wounds from little girls. Just be lucky I'm too drunk to fight properly." With this, I stagger to the counter and grab a bottle of Vodka, downing most of it before pouring the rest on the wound. Wiping it clean, I put a bandage on it before heading for the door.
Walking through the cave entrance, I blink as my eyes slowly adjust to the darker ambience. The sound of Kika's soft snores fill the hollow cave. Setting my things down, I jump back as Zenshu enters the cave behind me. Having just got back from... whatever... he had been doing all day. Probably questing or adventuring or whatever. He would tell me all about it at some point. "Ah, Lady Brandy, I see you've just gotten back as well..." He breaks off as he sees all the blood on me. "My Lady, where are you hurt?" Rushing in, he tries to scoop me up again. I push him off, trying to shoo him away. "Relax, it's nothing. Stab wounds just bleed a lot, even when they aren't deep. And besides, I've gotten worse." He grabs me, preventing me from running off to my room. "Stab Wound? Brandy what's going on??" "Got in a bit of a fight. But it's no big deal." I pull up my shirt, showing him the now bloody and pointless bandage. And the trail of blood pooling on the floor. "No Big Deal?? You got stabbed. I mean look at you. You're soaked in blood, and it's already infected. Not to mention you are absolutely wasted." "Fine, fine. But you don't need to carry me across town again. I have a lot of training as a cleric, not to mention the small hospital worth of medical supplies I keep here." I try to walk to my room, but blood loss is making me weak. "Just.. ah.. help me get patched up." Room spinning, I take a step, only to nearly meet the floor as I swoon forward. Zenshu catches me, sighing something or another about having to be a babysitter. Too tired to try and fight back, he easily scoops me up and sets me in my bed. With my directions, he grabs a small medical bag and sets to work stitching me up. Kika, awoken by all the commotion and arguing, comes in to help. Soon, they both step back, putting the supplies away. Then Kika goes back to her room, grumbling about her beauty sleep. Zenshu sits on the edge of the bed, grabbing my hand. "I would like to scold you on the behavior that caused you to get drunken and stabbed, but you are probably too drunk to listen." I laugh at this, but gasp as pain shoots through me. Zenshu reaches forward, pushing my bangs away from my face. "Anyway, you need to rest." With this, he stands up. Suddenly, he leans down and kisses my cheek. "Goodnight, my lady." He quickly gets up and leaves. Somehow I was left even more confused than before, and getting some rest wasn't a bad idea.

Slowly blinking awake, I groan as I try to sit up, then quickly fall back as dizziness and overwhelming pain washes over me. Clutching my side, I wince at how tender and hot the injury is. ~Infected already~ I thought as I, quite slowly, propped myself up. The events of yesterday came back to me as I looked down at the dried blood soaking my clothes. Painfully, I got myself up. It was late afternoon, and neither half-dragon was to be seen. ~They probably went off into town. Work or adventuring or whatever~ Barely able to even walk, I somehow managed to clean up a bit. Being completely alone, I was able to bathe in the cascade of the waterfall, as I couldn't get into the water spa. Something that wasn't totally foreign, since I previously lived on my own and I quite liked bathing this way, so I was glad I was alone for a little while.
Getting dressed, I opted for only a dark blue underwear set and a forest green sweater, since I didn't have the strength to do much more. Having accidentally bought the wrong size, the sweater was big enough to go well below my hips and covered all the way down to about half my thighs. Being vertically challenged as I am, it served as something of a short dress, although it did force my tails down. Now clean, my still wet hair and tails leaving drips behind me, I stepped into the kitchen. Well, the storage/cooking/eating cave within the small maze of caves. The stone in the center was carved into an island counter that I surrounded with some small stools. The sides of the cave were stone counters that I fitted with wooden cabinets on top and bottom.
Within a couple minutes, I was sitting on one of the stools, sipping a cup of hot herbal tea. Approaching foot steps alerted me to the returning Zenshu and Kika. Zenshu steps into the kitchen, several bags of supplies in hand. "I got a few things, since there wasn't enough food for all three of us." He pauses, setting the bags down. "Have you made a habit of forgetting pants?" "It's a longer sweater, wouldn't want to give you too much of a treat." Zenshu sits down next to me, raising an eyebrow. "Oh?" I chuckle at his reaction, but wince at the pain. "I couldn't really bend down to get pants on. It was hard enough to get as far as I did." I took a long swig of my tea while he starts to sort through the bags. "You really ought to be in bed, my Lady." "I was a mess. I wanted to clean up a bit. And I'll heal better if I'm clean." Draining my cup, I reach to grab the still hot kettle. Zenshu grabs it first, and fills my cup for me. "Thanks." I take another sip. "It's a few different herbs. It will help me heal and it treats the infection." Setting my cup down, I help organizing the groceries. "And besides, you can't expect me not to get cooped up sitting in there all day." Standing up, I gasp as my side aches. Zenshu reaches to pick me up, but I wave him off. "Could you just help me walk? I've been up for too long. And I need to still brush myself." I gesture to my now frizzy hair and tails. Zenshu nods, allowing me to wrap my arm around his waist as I lean into him.
Leaning on Zenshu, I wince at the sharp pains running through me as he helps me down onto the couch. Leaning on the arm of the couch, I lay back as Zenshu hands me a small blanket. Trying to ignore the pain of an infected stab wound, I turn to him. "So are you gonna lecture me on the drinking and getting stabbed??" He smiles at me, crouching down to look at me eye to eye. "From the looks of it, you've learned your lesson." I chuckle, but quickly double over in pain, now gasping. "Don't worry, I've had worse wounds. I don't learn lessons." His eyes suddenly dark, Zenshu grabs my hands and looks me in the eye. "I hate seeing you like this, Brandy. I couldn't stand it if anything worse had..." He trails off. It was the first time I had ever seen him worried. Feeling horrible, I tried to explain. "These things rarely happen, even with all the jokes. But in a city of brawlers and fist-fighters, it's hard to get in a fight without a few hits. And I can't just use magic constantly. It's too powerful. Especially mine. I can hurt others far more than they've hurt me." Taking a breath, I look at Zenshu. "And before you say it, I can't just not get in fights. Between helping people and work, I constantly have to defend myself and others. Not to mention the enemies I make. And it doesn't help that I'm a sly little fox." Reaching into my sleeve, I pull out Zenshu's dagger and hand it back to him. Surprised, he takes it and puts it back on his waist. ~He probably hadn't realized I even took it.~ "Not that I'm a big crook. I'm pretty good at pickpocketing. I'm just a fox. Kitsune are still a type of fox folk." Chuckling, he gets up and ruffles my hair. "It's ok, really. I just worry about the people I care about. Now I better get to making some dinner before I find myself surrounded by hangry women." With this, he walks off, my eyes following.
The sounds of food frying in the kitchen filled the otherwise quiet cave. I wasn't tired, and in too much pain to fall asleep, but too exhausted to try and do anything. My mind raced as I stared at the ceiling.
He... really cared about me?? I was used to people caring about me, and I was used to people, especially men, wanting me; but the idea of both from the same person?? It practically scared me. I flashed back to scenes from my childhood. A sweet, happy memory. The families at the temple walking the grounds, holding the hands of small children with smaller infants wrapped in cloth carriers around their mother's chests or hips. I remembered always helping them. After Mother would deliver their kids, I would always help out the families. Delivering meals, tending the other kids, cleaning their homes. Suddenly, I realized that's what I wanted. Someday, when I was older, to settle with my future husband in a home and start a family. Sitting down with my kids, teaching them magic, watching them grow up, watching them become great older siblings. My mind drifted back to Zenshu. Loyal, caring, honest. Could there be something between us??
Yanking me from my thoughts, Zenshu comes back in, two bowls in hand. He sits down next to me, handing me a bowl and utensils. "Where's Kika?" I inquired. Zenshu points outside of the cave. Kika was in the lake, playing in the water. Well, playing with the water. Her connection with the Sea Domain made it easy for her to manipulate water. "I have a bowl waiting for her when she gets back." Quietly, we both finish our food. Zenshu breaks the surprisingly comfortable silence. "My Lady, in the most polite way possible, I noticed your hair and fur have gotten quite puffy." I blush, bright red as I pat my frizzy, dried out hair. "Right, right. Let me grab my brushes." I push myself up, grunting as I go to stand. Zenshu puts a hand on my shoulder, stopping me. "Just relax, I'll grab them." Standing up, he then returns a moment later with my brushes in hand. "Here, scoot forward best you can." Inching forward, I wrap the blanket around my lower half as he squeezes in to sit behind me. Helping me sit up, mostly just holding my shoulder, he takes the brush and runs it through my hair. Soon, significantly less frizzy, I lean back into Zenshu, again almost drowning in his broad chest. He wraps an arm around me, snuggling me, but I pull back again to look him in the face. "We need to talk." I state, trying not to sound nervous. Panicked, Zenshu only says "Ok?" "About us, this." I gesture to the two of us, snuggled up. "We both want this, I think. I know I do, a lot. But it's complicated. Too complicated. I feel like the closer we get, we might fall for each other. Which will just make it hurt more when you eventually go to Capitol Landing for your Father. And then you're gonna search for your Mother. And then only the Gods know where you'll end up. And Crescent Isle's my home, well, Moonglade at least. I would leave, but never for good. Honestly, I don't know what I would do if you..." Pressing a claw to my lips, Zenshu shushes me. Grinning, he finally answers.

As I remove my claw from her mouth I let her know "That is a conversation for another time, just know we are friends and companions I have no intention of leaving you alone though there may be days, weeks, or months that I do not return but that is only due to my personal quest. The bonds I make last a life time, an seeing how we are now roommates I will keep in touch when I am gone as not to worry you" With letting her know that Kika walked in an said "Master I think it is time we head into town to take some quests to make some money we cannot live on what we have now." With that Zenshu nodded in agreeance and carefully got up looked at Brandy and said "My apologies Lady Brandy I hope you get better soon so that we can take a couple quests together, we will be back soon Kika is right we do need to make some money and gather more experience for ourselves I know it will take some time to get strong enough for me to start my quest." Zenshu heads to the room to grab his belongings and comes out to say good bye to Brandy he tells her to make sure she gets rest and if her wound gets any worse to go see the healer he does not want to come back to a dead body in the cave.

*Not Done* Watching Zenshu and Kika walk out, I found myself conflicted. Friends and Companions? Roommates? What. The. Hell. I told him how I felt. It was tremendously clear. Was he that dense? What did I have to do to get it through that stupid head of his?? Write a ballad to proclaim my love? Tattoo his name on my arse? Romantic evening on the beach with wine and roses? I didn't feel quite strongly enough yet to do any of those, and even then he still might not catch a clue. Sighing, I went to bed frustrated and confused.
Waking up, I was hit with a soft pang of loneliness at the hollow emptiness of the cave. With both Dragons having left for the time being, a few days at least, the place was entirely mine again. I guess it was time for another day. Having spent most of the past two days resting, I had enough energy to resume my usual level of pain tolerance. Heading into town again, I welcomed the bustling crowds, wafting aromas, and lively ambiance of the market. Surrounded in the familiar atmosphere of Starlight City's shopping district, my mind was quickly put to ease. Walking along the rows of stands, I quickly went about my usual business. With a fresh Meat Kabob, a heavily seasoned, densely packed skewer of beef, salmon, and various vegetables; in my hand, I went about shopping and a bit of pick pocketing. Having lived here all my life, and having frequented this district since I was old enough to crawl, I could easily pick out who was using their earnings to feed their families, and who was using theirs for drink and women, and thus could decide who to pickpocket without even a flash of remorse. Soon, loaded with everything I needed, and wanted, I continued to wander until I found myself in front of a small pet stand. A cage was filled with what appeared to be origami dragons. Poking at them, I nearly jumped back as one dragon tried to nip at my claw. The merchant laughed, a big hearty boom. "Ah don't worry, Miss. They won't hurt ya. In fact, a good nip means it might have taken a liking to you." I looked at him, a middle aged dwarf. "These here are Book Wryms. Interesting little fellas, they is." He takes one out of the cage and pets it. It chirps at him, a sound resembling something between a Letter Drake and a songbird. I reach out, petting it. I scratch it's chin, and find myself allured by the cute noises it continues to make. The dwarf chuckles. "Aside from a few key things, their care is similar to a letter drake. Of course, it'll burn with fire, it can rip apart, get blown away in the wind, and will ruin if it gets too wet. It can live off a few small things like bugs, rodents, or human food, but above all it loves written pages. It'll remember what it eats, and can recite it back." "How much??" I ask, pulling out my coin pouch. Walking back, shopping bags in my arms, and a new friend on my shoulder, I stop at Genelle's stand. Her sweet, warm voice beckons me in. "Brandy, ah come here you." She pulls me into a hug, and both me and the Book Wrym squeak at her manly embrace. "Didn't mean to squish your little friend here. He's a cute fella ain't he?? As for you," She puts a hand on my shoulder. "Don't tell me ya got yourself hurt again at the bar." I nod, quickly pulling up my shirt to show her the puncture in my side before letting my shirt down again. "You gotta stop doing that kinda stuff, Brandy. You know that, but I won't lecture you today." She turns to her stand, sighing. "If you help me pack up for the evening, I reckon we can get home for dinner. I would love to have ya, and Michael would to." Genelle offered. It had been forever since I had been back to her home, and even longer since I had seen Michael, her husband, and something of an Uncle to me. "Well if you insist, I guess I could help." Setting to work, we quickly pack up her stand and set out to Genelle's home. She gestures to the Book Wrym quizzically, who is now comfortably sitting on one of my tails. "What... is it exactly??" She asks "A Book Wrym." "Ah. I've heard about those. Does it have a name?" "Not yet. I barely got it." Opening the wooden door, I side step to let Genelle inside. Closing the door, I set my bags down and made my way to the living room. Michael is waiting, ready to envelop me in a bear hug. I gladly let him. "Ah welcome back Foxy! It's been a hot minute, hasn't it?" I agree hastily, before excusing myself to help Genelle in the kitchen. I'm greeted with the sizzling of hot food, and the salty aroma of heavy seasonings. Setting to work, we talk and talk while bustling around the kitchen. On the counter, the Book Wrym sniffs at a cookbook, trying to open it up. I laugh, scooping it up in my hands. It nips at me, before nuzzling into my hand, chirping. Playing with it, I finally thought of a name. "Genelle, I got a name for him." I turn to her, Book Wrym in my hands. "Well spill it already." "Tome. You know, since he likes books." I giggle, leaning in to bump Tome's nose with mine. "Well in that case, set Tome down and get to stirring." She says. Soon dinner, a delicious dish of thin noodles, potatoes, and white fish; was finished and cleaned up. I hug Michael and then Genelle, thanking them again as I grab my things. With Tome on my shoulder, I head out to go back home to my cave.
Organizing groceries, I sigh as Tome rips apart the outer packaging of some dry noodles. I look at the assortment of goods. A variety of food, seasonings, cutlery, makeup, medical supplies, herbs, and clothes. And of course, at least a dozen various Meat Kabobs I wrapped up to save. Putting everything away, I finally sit down on the couch, gasping as the exhaustion of the day, and the pain, started to wash over me. Tome flies across the room, wings spread like the cute little dragon he is, landing on my foot. Crawling up, he snuggles against me, curled up on my chest. I smile, petting him behind the ears. Surprisingly restless, I get back up and head back to the kitchen. Using Create Spark, I heat up another two Kabobs, this time sharing bits with my new friend. As good as her cooking was, Genelle didn't quite understand the amount of calories needed to fuel an Arcana user. Not to mention the calories I burned working out my legs. Although barely average in my core and upper body strength, I excelled in both the strength of my legs and tails. Afterwards, I finally settled into bed, Tome resting on my chest again. It didn't take long for the pain in my side to knock me out.
The crinkling of worn paper woke me up as Tome walked up and down my abdomen. Sitting up, I yawn as he jumps down, gliding across the room into the kitchen. I follow, stretching as I go. Making a breakfast of fish and ramen, I sat down on the wooden stool and ate while Tome flew around the room, chirping and purring. Watching the little paper dragon flap around, my mind wandered back to my conversation with Genelle in her kitchen. When asking about Tome, she had joked that I just apparently couldn't get enough of these dragons. I had tried to argue, but then she brought up the point of my living with two half-dragons. And the handsome young dragon man, as she put it, that I 'dragged around town like a new toy'.
Maybe she had a point. About Zenshu, at least. Not the obsession with dragons. He had been entering my mind constantly, not to mention I missed him a lot. I missed Kika too, but certainly not in a 'snuggles and kisses and maybe a few things I would never say aloud' type of way, like Zenshu. Being short in the way of the friends and family, I tend to get very close, sometimes clingy, with the few people who let me into their lives. Shaking my thoughts away, I head back for my room. Unbuttoning my top and setting it aside, I examine myself. Glancing over the old scars, burns, and marks adorning my body, my eyes wander down to my stab wound. I carefully peel back the bandage, wincing at the overall tenderness of the area. The infection gone, and now just a vile looking scab in its place, it was nearly healed. Being a full blooded Kitsune, I had quite a few natural advantages. The most obvious right now being accelerated healing. Although nothing spectacular, it still helped my wounds heal quite fast, taking recovery times down from months or weeks to a fraction of the time, with the only downside being the amount of energy it took. Grabbing a large towel, I step into the spare room to grab some fur oil. Walking in, I spot that Zenshu and Kika had left a few of their less important belongings. Spare clothes, a few books, a blade sharpener. Slightly comforted, I found myself thinking that at least I knew they were for sure coming back. Hastily pulling Tome away from the books, I headed to the water spa. Immersed in the hot water, I let myself sink underneath the surface. After a few moments, I grabbed a bottle of soap, Cat-folk's Original Fur Shampoo, and got to work.

Breeze whipping my hair to and fro, I stare at the quest board in town. Glancing through, nothing quite peeks my interest. Escorts, paid labor, hunting, nothing of importance. Until, at least, I see one of the most peculiar quests ever to be posted. "Ooze research: hired hands needed". It's nothing too difficult, just to report on the behaviors of wild Ooze. If possible, try to get a glimpse of them breeding or being created. I didn't quite want to think about what "Ooze breeding or creating" would look like, but I signed up anyway. It was for quite a bit of gold after all. With Tome sitting comfortably on my head, right in between my fuzzy ears, I set off. My travel pack, a large dark leather bag with metal clasps, was filled with various supplies. Medical supplies, herbs, food, everything I needed. Walking the edge of the woods, I found several Ooze trails. I followed, shuddering when I accidentally stepped in one of them. Moving on, I let my thoughts wander while I searched. As of late, I had been thinking about questing with Zenshu and Kika. I had longed to travel all of Moonglade, and eventually Charon, but was never able to without a companion. Although quite strong, I wouldn't be able to prepare for dangers outside of Moonglade, especially as a Kitsune. Having been outlawed in Moonglade after the disaster at the Temple, Kitsune trafficking was never too much of a danger to me in recent years. But outside Moonglade, trading and trafficking was a practice that could make men rich for life. Quite quickly, I lose the Ooze trail. Sighing, I look up. Sunset. I had spent the entire day looking. Shaking slime from my boots, I start back to town and to home. It wasn't worth the gold, I figured. And besides, who knew what trouble it would bring?
Walking inside, I spot the travel packs of Zenshu and Kika. Looking around, the place was still empty. Probably in town, I thought. Setting my things down on the counter, I see that Zenshu had fallen asleep in the common area with something in his hand. My relief at seeing him was quickly replaced with concern as I saw the scratches and gashes adorning his arms. I shake him awake, saying: "Finally your back. I thought something might have happened to you two, I see you got a few new injuries. I'm glad your back safe. I'll get you patched up later, now go to your room and sleep." Zenshu, now barely awake says "Good morning Lady Brandy. I have something for you but i'll give it to you after I get a little more sleep, good night I'll see you later." I laugh at this. "Morning, Zenshu? It's nearly midnight. But the two of you must be starving. I'll get some dinner ready." I set to making dinner for the three of us. While doing so, I noticed the large sums of wolf meat in the stone freezer. Probably from questing or whatever they ended up doing. Thinking of all the things I could make with it, I finally started cooking. Soon, with a tray of hot rolls set to bake, and a pot of spicy beef soup boiling atop a small flame, I sat down on a stool, waiting. With a majority of my energy and Arcana spent, due to healing as fast as I have, it was hard, as of the past few days, to be up working for long periods. Not that I worked much anymore. Work these days was mostly to alleviate my boredom. Between a few various mercenary jobs in the past, I was quite well off, with enough gold stowed away to let me live comfortably until my early 30's. But seeing the way the two dragons worked as hard as they did for every scrap of gold, I had felt guilt nagging at me. If I shared it with them for their various needs, we all could be taken care of for three or four years, at least. Neither of them seemed the type to take charity and handouts, but if I brought it up at the right time... Sighing, I shook my thoughts away. Enough of worrying, I had dinner to finish. Biting into a warm, fluffy roll, I smiled at myself. Magic flames made the best food, after all. I call out for my roommates, letting the smell of hot soup and rolls announce itself. The pair come in quite quickly. The two of them sit, tucking into their food. They both look exhausted, and Zenshu looked quite weak and shaky. Probably still recovering from blood loss, I presumed, looking at his wounds. He didn't appear to have lost a lot of blood, but the way he trained daily to use his whole body as a weapon, not to mention the amount of work he did questing. It certainly used a lot of his energy. He must've worked himself too hard, slowing his recovery down, as I often did myself. Trying to focus, I get back to dipping a roll into the spicy broth. He compliments my cooking, and I blush. I had noticed recently that Zenshu really liked spicy food, and I may or may not have made tonight's dinner especially with this in mind. He pulls out a dusty flyer, and I take another bite of soup as he shares it with me. "Lady Brandy, I have a quest for us three. It involves assisting with the research of these Ooze creatures." I swallow and look at him. "I've already been out looking. But no luck so far." Another bite of soup, and the rich flavors of chili, beef, jalapeno, and other spices washed into my mouth. Swallowing, I took another bite, savoring the beef, potato, and small noodles. It was my Mother's recipe, and the whole thing tasted like childhood to me. Yanking me from my mind, Zenshu keeps talking. "Kika has found a trail already, not far from the cave. We should head out as soon as we finish dinner." I shake my head. "Zenshu, I know you always like a quest, but it's past nightfall. And like I said, they are hard to find. It's not worth the gold to sit and watch little Oozes or whatever. We can literally do, well, anything else." He reluctantly agrees, and we plan to go check the quest board again tomorrow morning. Just as he sets the flyer down, Tome rushes in and starts biting on it, quickly devouring the dusty page. Laughing, we all finish dinner, and Kika goes off to bed, bidding us goodnight, while me and Zenshu sit and talk. He tells me of his questing with Kika, and how they dispatched a group of wolves near a farm. Suddenly, he pulls out a necklace, leather cord with wolf teeth on it. Gently, he ties it around my neck. A little souvenir he got me, he claims. I thank him, silently noticing the matching one he wore as well. Eventually the topic comes to our various injuries, and he shows me the full extent of the scratches on his arms, and then unties his robe to reveal several deep gashes on his abdomen, scarcely covered by wrinkled bandages. A good job by anyone else, but to the eye of any healer or doctor, it was barely sufficient. I gasp at how mangled he looks, and reach out to feel it. It's quite warm, definitely infected, although not badly. "Hold on, I'll grab a few things. Patch you up a bit." I get up and head to my bedroom, grabbing a medicine bag. "Here. Lean back." I sit down next to him, and get to work. Somehow I was able to work neatly, despite being very distracted by my proximity to Zenshu's muscular, strong chest. I wonder if this is how he felt when he and Kika had to stitch up my stab wound. Still, I manage to talk while I work. "I'll check it again tomorrow. It should heal very quickly, based on how it's looking now. Tell Kika I'll get her scratches treated tomorrow morning as well, first thing. I know she can do it herself, but it's always better to have a pair of hands besides your own. And you both ought to have some herbal tea to stem off the infection, before bed and before we leave tomorrow. I have some made up in little satchels in the cupboard." I nod to the kitchen. "And you'll definitely need to sugar it a bit. The herbs are quite, well... they are an acquired taste." Soon, I pull back, now facing a clean and freshly bandaged wound, along with the treated various scratches across his arms. I set the supplies down on the wooden table, and lean back, finally relaxing. Zenshu wraps an arm around me, and I sleepily curl up, snuggling into him. Now wide awake, despite the late hour, he tells me excitedly how he wrestled and eventually killed the dire wolf, bragging of his 'great strength, that of a legendary warrior AND a mighty dragon'. While talking, he waves his hands about, demonstrating how he 'strangled the daylights out of the ugly beast'. Caught up in his story, he had forgotten he had an arm wrapped around me, and ended up jostling me back and forth. I wince, nearly crying out as I get thrown into him. Embarrassed, Zenshu reaches to steady me, leaning down. "Deepest apologies, are you alright m' Lady?" "Just a bit jostled." I chuckle, and he joins in. "But what of your wound, Lady Brandy??" he asks, suddenly serious. "Oh. it is quite fine." I tell him of my accelerated healing, and not to worry at all, and that I am still quite drained from using so much energy and Arcana. He nods, and lets me know he can help me if I need anything. "It's alright Zenshu, really. You don't need to fret over me so much." I look up at him, blushing, "but it's really sweet that you care so much."
Without warning, I lean over and peck him a kiss on the cheek. The electric feeling it gives me makes me want to really kiss him. Quickly, without looking him in the eye and before I could see his reaction, I get up and turn to my bedroom. "Goodnight. I still need to get plenty of rest" I gesture to my scar, then gesture back to him "as do you". With that, I set to my room for the night.
Staring at the ceiling, my mind raced back and forth. What The HELL did I just do?? The scene replayed in my head. Was this what I wanted? Yes. Did I think Zenshu was a good option for me, friend wise and dating wise? Yes. I wrapped my fingers around the necklace, heart racing. Was I scared as hell at the possibility I might be falling for him, and that I would end getting hurt. Absolutely. Sighing, I said a quick goodnight to Tome, who had curled up on my chest, and went to sleep.

Brandy AlayinBefore they left Zenshu went into his room to grab the gift he had for Lady Brandy but when he went to grab it from where he put it the item had gone missing. Confused and thinking that it was just a dream <Zenshu's dream, he had a dream while her was recovering of some kind of deity taking his belongings from his room.> I guess it really did happen after all confused and embarrassed he went back out to the main living area and had to tell Lady Brandy what happened to the gift he had for her. Sitting down on the couch with his head down he explained everything to Brandy so seemed a bit disappointed and then told her that he would get her a new gift that was a promise. Taking out his knife he sharpened it and cut a small slice into his hand as a reminder cleaning off the blood he began to sharpen it again then he took out his other and did the same. Okay are we ready my blades are sharp my is ready I've got a full 3 days of rest lets do this.
