Gender: Male
Age: 62
Race: Undead Elf
Nationality: Dragon's Cradle
Appearance:
Aledüne's bright hair cascades like liquid sunlight, catching even the faintest glimmer of light. Each strand seems to possess a life of its own, lending him an almost ethereal radiance as he moves his slim frame. He possesses a subtle strength that is evident in his movement. His lithe physique exudes an air of grace and agility, and his tall stature gives him a commanding presence that demands attention. He has blue eyes that are vibrant, almost unnaturally so. They hold an intense, piercing quality, like twin sapphires that seem to see through the very soul of those who meet his gaze.
His skin carries a cold pallor. This, with the rest of his appearance gives him a clear otherworldly quality, as well as enhancing the natural beauty he was born with.
His attire, A rough red robe of good quality designed for the road but is well maintained, and a long dark cloak with pauldrons at the sides. The fabric is black, but smooth as silk. Two jewels decorated with rubies are attacked to each side with a golden chain connecting the two sides of the cloak together to allow for ease of wear. The inside of the cloak seem to be red silk instead of black. The cloak is neck high and with a hood that hangs down the back.
Personality:
Meticulous Civility: Aledüne's politeness is laced with an underlying edge, as if every word, every gesture is designed to get the best response possibly. To most he comes over as well educated, or having the demeanour of a politician. But occasionally, a genuine warmth seeps through. In moments of vulnerability, he treats others with kindness, revealing traces of the person he once was.
Inquisitiveness in the Dark Arts: His unquenchable curiosity has taken a sinister turn, but there are moments when he questions the consequences of his actions. He's drawn to the forbidden, yet occasionally hesitates when confronted with the moral implications.
Calculating Introspection: Aledüne's introspection isn't solely self-serving. At times, he genuinely contemplates the fundamental questions of life and death, seeking not only to exploit their power but also to comprehend their profound mysteries. He realizes that his nature has taken a turn towards something sinister, and he is careful in not allowing it to swallow him whole.
Iron-willed Resilience: His willpower is unyielding, but occasionally, it wavers. His time as a pawn in someone else's plans has scarred him deeply, but at the same time forged him into something stronger.
Predatory Independence: His independence is a testament to his predatory instincts, but he is careful in not allowing his wilder instincts to take over, lest he just becomes a beast.
Empathy as a Weapon: Aledüne's empathy remains a calculated tool, often using the weakness of others for his benefit if it interests him. This does not prevent him however from making genuine connections, though few manages to make an impression strong enough for him to lower his guard.
Playfully When Curious: As much as enjoys his time alone, Aledüne is a social predator. He can tease, flirt, enrage or despair anyone he comes across for any reason. Anyone he encounters could be subject to his whims and entertainment, and he is quick to pick up on the best way for him to entertain himself in any given situation.
History:
Born in the tranquil enclave of Sky Peak, Aledüne grew up in the tumultuous region of Dragon's Cradle. However, Sky Peak and its inhabitants were a gentle and contemplative people, deeply attuned to the rhythms of the natural world. Healers, druids, hermits, and spiritualists were among the residents, each contributing to the village's aura of calmness and spiritual connection.
From a young age, our protagonist exhibited a quiet intensity that set them apart. Politeness came naturally, learned from the gentle souls of their village. Yet, beneath their calm exterior, a burning curiosity smouldered. It was here, amidst the healers, druids, hermits, and spiritualists, that he first discovered the allure of the arcane.
As he matured into adulthood, Aledüne's life took a sudden and chilling twist. Captured by a cunning vampire with an ancient lineage, they found themselves thrust into a world of darkness and power. The vampire recognized something extraordinary in Aledüne, a dormant potential for the power of Necromancy.
His masters name was Lord Valerian Nightshade, an ancient vampire of formidable power and insatiable ambition. Born centuries ago in a shadowy era of the undead, he had amassed knowledge and dark magic that surpassed many of his kind. His final goal, to create a kingdom for the undead, and Aledüne, now forced into the apprenticeship under his new undead master was now a part of that plan. He now began his studies into a subject completely different subject then what he was used to. His parents had intended for him to join a druidic order, but now he was delving into the very energies that would cause destruction to the natural world instead of protecting it.
Years passed, and Aledüne's body began to adapt to the dark magics of the world. They were eventually transformed into a vampire, further becoming a pawn in their master's intricate plans. It wasn't until a year later that his slavery would come to an end.
During their first year as a vampire, a cleric of Solaria arrived at their master's lair with the intent to thwart the vampire's nefarious plans. However, Aledüne was away on an errand during the cleric's arrival and survived the encounter. Upon returning to their master's lair, they discovered that their sire had been defeated, and they were now free to seek their own ambitions.
Still weak, and having learned only the bare minimum. How will our fledgling vampire survive?
The story told about his travels:
Aledüne began his travels alone, and spent much of it on the move from city to city, country to country. Often meeting new and interesting people, he would rarely connect with them in any meaningful way, instead leading with his bad habit of manipulating them for his entertainment. Many a lost soul, his manipulation wasn't always malicious, and often ended with the individual getting ahead in life. Such was it that Aledüne enjoyed guiding people, even if they might one day stand against him. Seeing the challenge they had in life as a challenge for himself to prove himself above the troubles of the common man.
There did exist exceptions to the rule however. Raven, the arcane vampire, and Kamille, the famous witch were both people he had encountered in his travels that he remembered fondly. Kamille especially as there was an attraction there he did not quite understand. Was it love, or something else. A hunger perhaps? In either case, after his encounter with Kamille, Aledüne made the choice to stop his unending travels and start working on himself.
After a few months of research in the city of Zeinav, he discovered and tracked down the body of a paladin from a bygone era. A man who had cursed himself to a life of undeath as punishment for his own sins. Upon discovery, the paladin resisted, but with eons having eroded much of his willpower it wasn't long before he was under the necromancers control.
Now with a loyal minion at his side, Aledüne needed to deepen his other necromantic powers. Much of his knowledge was in the practical aspects of magic, and he had not allowed himself to seek out actual spells beyond what he had initially learned from his master. Learning as much he could, he eventually after another incident with Kamille left to return to Dragon's Cradle. His intention was to conquer the nation, and create a land for himself to live freely in the open without fear of persecution. A lofty goal for sure, but one he was determined to reach.
