Johannes P. Sawyer
Age: 21
Gender: Male (He/Him)
Nationality: Moonglade
Age: 21
Gender: Male (He/Him)
Nationality: Moonglade
Appearance: Physical attributes
- Johannes is a young, human man of relatively short stature and quite lithe of frame. Standing at 5 feet and 6 inches tall, and only weighing 112 lbs. (51 kg.), he is a particularly unimposing person. His face is long, with softer and thinner features including his straight nose and thin lips. His hair is a dark, ruddy brown that is as thick as it is often dusted in a layer of dirt. His skin is a pale white, though more often than not it too is smudged with dried mud and dirt. Finally, his eyes are light hazel, bordering between brown and green depending on the lighting.
Appearance: Clothing and Style
Personality:
Personal History:
- Johannes dresses in comfortable, loose fitting clothing that helps him stay cool in hotter weather as he often finds himself in. His garb is that of the farm dwelling peasant, and the state of disrepair he often finds his clothes in reflects that, with patches covering many of the wholes he has inadvertently torn in his trousers and tunic. He only owns the one set of clothing, consisting of a worn linen tunic and woven flax trousers, bound at the calf and ankle by strips of soft, woven plant fiber. Upon his feet he wears a pair of simple leather sandals, that tie behind the ankle and up the calf beneath the legs of his trousers, and he wears a single cloth bangle on his wrist that has the image of a wood-axe embroidered upon it with gold thread. Everything he wears is, of course, a "hand-me-down" from his older siblings that has been died brown by age and countless years working fields and forests.
Personality:
- A plucky young man, Johannes is as idealistic and eager to find his destiny as they come. He is an extrovert by all means, with an enjoyment of company however brief they stay. With a love for praise and adoration from his friends, he will very often try to impress them with various tricks or acts of bravery, regardless of the danger that is presented by either depending on the circumstance. He shows his affection for people in much the same way that he shows his distaste for people, by thoroughly pranking them with varying degrees of brutality depending on how much they rub him the wrong way. This behavior often gets him in trouble, landing him in many fights with those he pranks just a little too hard, but Johannes has always been stouthearted and unflinching in the face of adversity. He never backs down, never surrenders, as stubborn as a mule and twice as swift to kick. Despite his proclivity for mischief, he does have a sense of honor that keeps him from going overboard, understanding when and when not to engage in trickery with someone. Though he is young, he has a very strong sense of empathy and justice, and will always seek to support or even avenge those he holds dear.
Personal History:
- Johannes was born in Moonglade to a poor, but happy family in a secluded village far into the mainland and surrounded by thick forests. From the very beginning, it would seem that he was fated to become a woodsman like his father before him. It was a family business, cutting down trees and processing them, and for much of Johannes childhood he would learn the ways of the axe. He cut down his first tree at the age of eight, and began working at the family sawmill at 10. For all intents and purposes, Johannes was a skilled woodsman. He had a remarkable knowledge of the local forest, the animals that lived within, and he found he had a surprising knack for performing tricks with his wood axe. He was happy for most of his young adult life as well, with many friends he roamed the forest with, performing acts of bravery and impressing them with his mastery of his axe, but eventually he found himself yearning for more as he reached adulthood. More than anything though, Johannes wanted to see the rest of the world, to have his name on the pages of a history book as a great hero. He was restless, and one night he finally decided that his story would not end here in this forest. He would not be "just another Sawyer", doomed to run the sawmill and live there until the end of his days, married to some farmers daughter with another clutch of little Sawyers to force into a life secluded in a forest. Naturally, this caused quite the divide between him and his parents, until one night when the resentment for his life as a miller bubbled over and exploded. Johannes exchanged blows with his father, much to the protest of his mother and four older brothers, and he was soundly beaten into submission. That night, Johannes grabbed his things and his favorite axe, and left his family home for good without saying goodbye. He was going to see the world, his destiny as a Sawyer be damned.
