The fellblood continues stretching his body he doesn’t even look at Mei as he says, “Well, Wouldn’t you like to know an adventurer girl?”, before bursting out into laughter.
He composes himself after a moment and says, “Name’s Nephir, not telling ya my last name seeing as yer, not my friend or a cool foe. As for taking those guys' shit go right ahead the other one would have an issue with that but I don’t care, hell I’d join ya if I didn’t find those guys boring”.
He yawns at Mei’s comment about the Mephits and says, “Yeah I guess you’re right huh, back in my day there were a lot more fun things to fight. Man, you should’ve seen it this one time I fought against this giant house-sized bear that this dude tried to kill me with. It was pretty awesome but alas it seems nowadays it seems like I can’t get a good fight besides the inner one I have against this numbskull’s consciousness”.
He then sits back before bursting back into laughter at Caedes' demon question wiping a tear from his eye, “Nah I ain’t, don't ever call me that again alright missy those devils are some real bastard connoving fuckwads. Don’t make pacts with them ever alright they’ll use all their silly stupid contracts and make ya eat yer words. I’ve been called a demon many times during and after death, hell it was my epithet during my reign of terror. I’m an honest-to-gods fellblood I ruled over my little pocket of Dark Veil for a time, died for some unfortunate reasons”, he balls his fists in remembrance, “Now I’m here stuck inside this dumb dumb I don’t have a single idea why”.

His laughing earns him a side-eye from Mei; her brows furrow, but she doesn’t respond to his “adventurer girl” comment; even if it does rub her the wrong way. Despite his laughing at her, he does actually tell her his name— something she tucks away for later. Nephir? “ That’s fine. Not terribly sure I’d want to be either to you.” She admits simply, stomping through the quiet snow to see if she can find these bastards that they’d saved. She peeks into the darkness of the forest for a brief moment, but she’s pretty sure the merchant who’d hired them to begin with hauled ass the moment the mephits came out. If “Nephir” hadn’t killed the Winter King so fast, maybe they could have asked where they were keeping the merchants. Worse comes to worse, she supposes she can still go through the sleigh they left behind. Mei looks at him with narrowed eyes when he starts speaking again, talking about things that were more fun to fight back in his day— whatever day that might have been. “ A… house-sized bear?” Mei cocks a brow, unable to tell whether Nephir is boasting in a world where Ur-Beasts definitely exist. “ … Well, I’m sorry for the loss of your amusement.” …Not that sorry, though; especially when he starts laughing. Mei calms the flicker of annoyance in her chest, smile tightening as she rests her hands on her hips. “ Sure, I’ll keep that in mind.” She agrees stiffly; it’s far too late for that though, Mei has her own demon— and while she has some regrets, it’s literally the only thing keeping her alive. It is, however, the admission that he is from Darkveil that gets her attention. “ … Darkveil?” She repeats, crossing her arms as she leans a shoulder against a nearby tree. “ Really… and this is your… only vessel?” She tries to press; she has her doubts that Nephir has anything to do with Zarius— and even if he says it is his only vessel— well, demons lie. She’s still not sure about that ‘not a demon’ thing.
She’s taking everything with a grain of salt, but given why she’s here, this is still something valuable. She sighs, “If you’re going to keep sitting there waiting for your… other half to come back… I’m going to go find the merchants. They owe us for this regardless of how boring it was for you.” She pushes herself off the tree, eyeing Nephir before heading into the forest to check for signs of the missing merchants.

Nephir smiles at Mei as she mentions not wanting to be either, “That’s a good idea kid, if you make an enemy of me you die, if you make a friend of me you die. So being nothing to me is the best thing for you to do. Plus you kinda seem boring to be honest, probably an easy fight so I don’t feel inclined to take offense to that rude remark”.
He then places his hands behind his head as he reminisces on the past, “Yep house house-sized boar man that night Infested like a king fed me for like a week straight. Hell man this one time I had to fight this demon guy who got mad I scammed him out of my soul. I ripped his arm and sent him screaming and crying back to hell kicking his ass into his portal”, he starts laughing again as he remembers, “Man I miss those times hell the only thing that’s come close to being interesting is that lady Ak’ka, the man she mauled me face if it wasn’t for a redhead I woulda died, ahahah ahahah”.
He then looks curiously at the adventurer as she gets weirdly serious, “Yeah I think so, I don’t know to be honest. I just remember this lifetime and my original but I think this is my only body. I wish I had another or some sort of way to separate or even look for my original body. Damn, I wish I had my body back I’d fucking destroy everything too bad I’m limited to Redhead and that thing when I’m in control of this thing”.
He then gets up slowly, “Yeah yeah, I’ll help ya just hold on”, and then stands up holding his hand to his chest, “Hey Redhead mind helping me out there still kinda bleeding and dying here”.
Suddenly before Nephir, an archangel, Javal's Celestial patron, Uriel appears in a yellow tunic with bright red fiery hair who glares at the fellblood before touching his chest and healing his body back to normal (1) he grins as the archangel leaves quickly vanishing in a white light.
“Alright let’s look for these bozos”, he says, tucking his katana into his waistline sheathe and walking alongside Mei looking for the merchants.

Mei frowns; she doesn’t like to take insults without biting back, but she’s also not in the business of dying (again). Definitely not out in the Frost Gale; she breathes out, offering Nephir a tight smile, instead. “ Yes. I am pretty boring.” she admits, then rolls her eyes while Nephir lounges and prattles about the house-sized creature he’d mentioned from earlier. In the meantime, she skulks out the darkness of the forest; her eyes turning pitch black after a blink as she combs over the landscape— but she truly sees no evidence of the merchants, nor the one who brought them here to begin with. (1) She frowns, looking back at Nephir as he begins to laugh. “ I can only imagine.” she remarks, narrowing her eyes slightly as he mentions ‘that lady, Ak’ka. It’s not a name that strikes her as familiar, but it’s a name she also tucks away for another time. “ Huh.” When Nephir gets strangely serious, she hesitates, giving him her full attention. “ ... You think?” she repeats, furrowing her brows slightly; so then, it is unlikely that whatever possesses Javal could also be possessing Zarius— if that statement is true, anyways. She takes it with a grain of salt, and shrugs in a lazy show of sympathy. “ My apologies for the loss of your body.” she murmurs, but… What does he mean by— —before she can consider the “Redhead”, something appears. Mei jolts as though she’s been bitten, the celestial presence of this thing nearly pushing her back. Wh… what? Nephir walks past her to look for the merchants, and Mei takes a moment to stare at where the archangel was, before turning to follow after him in search of the merchants. What… what the hell is Javal?
It may be worth looking into.

The fellblood looks over to the adventurer and says, “Yep glad to hear you’ve come to terms with that stranger. People always complain about that and try to prove that they’re not losers but instead just prove that more. It’s more than fine to be a square. I just won't hang with ya or kill ya. Not like Ak’ka or that one kid who caused me trouble with that kick of his, what was his name? Blint? Lint? Zint? Eh, I don’t remember or care enough to remember but if he improves and keeps up that growing fire then his name will be worthy enough to remember”.
He then responds to Mei’s words, “Yep I think I can’t give ya a solid answer even if I tried to remember. Everything after I did and before I came into this body is a complete haze and fog. Thanks for your understanding, glad to see this generation has manners, they don’t make up for being weak but at least there is something I guess”.
The fellblood keeps his eyes peeled scanning around looking for any of those merchant bastards before saying, “Alright kiddo I don’t see any merchants around here so I don’t know what’s left now. I mean good on them if I were in their shoes I’d probably escape too and use my fight as a distraction. Wait I think I say something behind this large tree, come".
He then motions to a caravan he found as they looked abandoned and filled with trinkets and treasure, “Looks like those mephit motherfuckers managed to capture this at least, so what'd you need?”.

Gods above, he’s testing her patience. Mei takes a deep breath in, and steadily breathes out through her nose to keep her composure; she purses her lips, internally pleading with every ounce of her self-control not to turn around and deck Nephir. She’s not here to brawl… she’s here for information. She’s not here to brawl, she’s here for information. She repeats it like a mantra as she walks, shoulders terse beneath her flowing obsidian cloak. “Uh-huh.” She manages to eek out in response to his comment about her generation. She has never been called weak so many times in a row in her life. The absolute nerve of this guy! It’s really taking everything in her not to start chewing Nephir out with a blinding onslaught of sass and sardonic barking.
It’s fine. She’s no stranger to taking a few hits for the greater good. … But luck isn’t in it for her, because eventually, they at least find some remnants of what used to be the merchants’ camp. “ Great, they either all died, or they hauled ass out of here.” She groans to herself, pushing her hair back as she gazes across the empty camp. She looks towards Nephir as he says something, but waits for him to take the lead before cautiously following. A caravan sits in front of them, unguarded. Abandoned. Well, this is something at least. “ Not to be rude, but don’t worry about what I need.” she remarks, getting just a bit of toxin out of her system from listening to Nephir's ranting about weakness; she quickly bypasses the fellblood in order to hop into the back of the caravan. “ It’s just an old heirloom… it’s worthless to everyone but me at this point. Charlotte? Help me look, please.” She can feel the frigid arachnid twitch and begin moving; and the black widow scuttles from beneath her cloak, beginning to comb through strewn items on the ground. Mei, in the meantime, checks a few chests and containers, before plucking a ledger off the floor. She dusts it off, listening to the sound of Charlotte’s scuttling, and pries it open; she runs down a list of names and prices, and… feels her heart sink when she reads: “ Arya Silverwind - Lingua Umbrarum, 3000 Solars.” Shit! “ Ugh.” She drops her head into the palm of her hand, internally scolding herself for this entire trip— for the merchants— for wasting her time on it. Sure, she didn’t know it was already sold, but… dammit. “ Charlotte, it’s okay. It’s not here.” She mutters, catching the spider’s attention. Charlotte blinks, “ It’s not?” “ No, it’s been sold.” “ Oh…” Mei clicks her tongue, taking the ledger with her as she gathers Charlotte up in her arm, and hops out the back of the caravan. “ No luck. Waste of my time. You want any of that stuff before your host wakes up, be my guest. Plenty of shiny garbage back in there; as for me, I’m heading back to the inn before I freeze into an ice block.” She breathes a sigh, quietly flipping through the pages of the ledger.
"I can't believe I let myself get dragged into this for nothing but frostbite."
But she does have a name at the very least.

Nephir puts his hands up, “Alright alright don’t get mad at me for tryna help a kid but an heirloom makes sense”.
The fellblood jumped off of the wagon and stood to the side getting bored until he saw Mei's distress and looked at her not saying a word. Sure the fellblood was a rude bastard but he wasn’t evil no matter how much the guys whom he ripped the limbs off of would say otherwise.
He then nods, “Sorry kid you didn’t find what you're looking for, I don’t need any of that shit all I need is a good battle and I’m satisfied. I’ll head to an inn as well. I can already feel myself losing control of this body so actually I guess this is goodbye kid. It was fun beating the shit out of those mephit losers with ya, even if yer weak I’d like to fight ya sometimes. Maybe I could help you learn a thing or two, consider it a spar or whatever”.
He then waves her off before his hand jerks back and he stands there unconscious between the two minds inside. Soon enough after the usual meeting in the small room, Nephir punches Javal back into control.
He gasps loudly as he regains consciousness and exclaims, “What in the world happened here? I just remember fighting the Winter King a second ago. Did I win Mei? Please tell me what happened. Are you hurt, friend?”
After talking and explaining, Javal decides it's not the worst outcome. He then decides to call it a day and walks back to the inn with Mei speaking and rambling about what occurred. After they arrived at the inn Javal decided to instead of resting get right back to training.
He gives Mei his final farewell, “Goodbye friend Mei! It was a pleasure meeting and fighting alongside you today. I hope to see you again another day. It was super fun and I hope everything goes well. May I call you a friend Mei? Sorry for blacking out there and being kind of useless thankfully your strength was enough to quell the Winter King. I shall now leave and pursue getting stronger so what happened doesn’t occur”, he then leaves looking for an area to train.

“ It’s fine.” She answers, fidgeting with the pages of the ledger. She breathes an exhale as she paces a few steps back towards the direction they had originally come from— but Nephir bidding her an early farewell has her turning to face him with a cocked brow. She hesitates, letting the snow gather along the dark outline of her cloak— and then she rolls her eyes while Nephir calls her weak again. She stamps down her temper, already feeling rather ruffled from her fruitless endeavor to the Frost Gale. “ Well, it would be my honor to spar with you.” She replies, offering Nephir a smile just before he jerks back. Watching the seat in command of Javal’s body change hands is strange; she watches him undulate, then gasp as Javal returns to the helm. She stares at him for a moment, quizzical, then breathes a sigh as he starts to exclaim loudly after all that’s happened. He’s back. She runs a hand through her hair, tossing about her options while Javal asks questions about what happened, and whether she’s hurt. She takes a last look at the merchant’s caravan, before motioning for Javal to follow her. While they head back to the inn, Mei explains with some hesitance what occurred after Javal passed out; the death of the Winter King, and the missing merchants— who, she adds— she’s pretty sure just took off during the fight, because the sleigh they arrived on is gone by the time they exit the snow-addled woods. She’s in a foul mood all things considered; Mei huddles beneath her cloak as she trudges after Javal; eager to return to a fireplace after a mission gone awry. Even Charlotte shivers quietly, uncomplaining, against her back. Gods, she hates the Frost Gale. She slips into the inn behind Javal, breathing a breath she didn’t know she was holding, as the warmth of simply being inside hits her. She glances sidelong at the fellblood, and does a rather poor job of hiding her exhaustion of the activities of the day. “ Mm, good to meet you too, Javal.” She agrees, waving a hand with an air of dismissal. “ You can call me what you’d like. I’m too cold to argue.” She hesitates when he mentions going out to train, but before she can say anything, he just leaves. Mei watches him go, shaking her head in mild bemusement over the fellblood’s chaotic personality, before dragging her freezing self back to the fireplace. She plops down in front of it, every limb aching with an unrivaled chill, and pulls out the ledger. She flips it open, and begins to quietly review the merchant’s activities from the past few months.
It wasn't a total loss, at least.
