Aidan Au Alexander
Gender: Male (Pronouns are He/Him)
Age: 24
Race: Human
Nationality: Dragon's Cradle
Appearance: Aidan is around 6'2 and weighs roughly 185 lbs. However, all of his weight is muscle from the extensive workout and training that he does almost religiously. His hair is brown and medium length. His eyes are brown in color and seem to shine with a mysterious quiet glow. His arms and legs are extremely cut with thick ropes of muscle that show quite clearly. His chest and stomach are also ripped with muscle and extremely cut. On his back are multiple scars from being whipped. There are also several large scars on his chest and lower stomach which appear to be made by some sort of blade, or particular note is a stab wound to the right of his navel. Aidan's face is thin and seemingly well structured. His right arm is almost entirely covered by an intricate black tattoo made of various runes and curses that stretches down to the top of his right hand where a slave's crest tattoo can be found.
His typical attire is brown leather pants. A brown leather jacket and red leather armor underneath. He can also usually be seen wearing a long torn red scarf.
Personality: Serious and attentive to the core. Aidan is always aware of his surroundings and is ready for combat at any given moment. His combat prowess is incredible, which is most likely why he is feared by many regular people despite his age. His serious personality often makes him come off as somebody who nobody could possibly get along with. But he can be reasoned with, having experienced much loss in his life has made him bitter towards others.
In contrast to his punk-like appearance, Aidan is surprisingly mature and cool-headed. He's not afraid of taking responsibility, unlike some others that will try to avoid being held accountable when the consequences are dire. Aidan acts upon intelligence and reasoning. He is a very complex person to the eye, and he is indeed one. He never could be a simple person, due to his history that shrouds his allies with mystery and wonder. Although he may act on intelligence and reasoning, he does occasionally make a foolish mistake and lets his anger and sorrow consume him, however this is only occasionally; and he has 'lost the will to cry'. He never breaks down before anyone, simply because he has not the ability. He has cried his share of tears in his past. And believes it is now his time to stay strong, and prevent another person from going through and enduring what he endured. Although he might not cry and he may always obtain his cool when the sorrow and anger does consume him, he tries his boniest to be alone, so others don't see it.
Aidan is often seen being rather quiet and reserved. He speaks when necessary, and usually the words range from sarcastic and witty to serious and commanding. His voice a rather baritone proportion, it is quite easy to mistake his comments or outspoken thoughts for imperative statements. One should be careful when judging this, however; when Aidan believes that any situation is being pulled out of context, he will heighten his intellectual prowess and literally attempt to verbally rend any who would stand against his word. Thus, it proves to be a pet peeve to oppose him during his time of explanation. Most else will either go ignored or unheeded, the patron usually choosing rather quickly that which is irrelevant and that which holds some bearing to his situations.
On and off the battlefield, he is most often a cool-headed and calm strategic type of person. Cold and methodical are also apt titles for this warrior. He is the type of person who takes in the entire situation and weighs the consequences before making a decision. In the past, his fellow "friends" have criticized him for what they perceive as indecisiveness or his unwillingness to charge head-long into a battle. He, however, could not care less what other’s opinions of him are, he knows that his caution has enabled him to survive where others have perished. Once decided on a course of action, he will calmly carry it out without hesitation or mercy. Amongst his comrades, he is talkative to an extent, not so forth coming with conversation himself but has no trouble speaking when spoken to. Never an overachiever, but isn't what you would call laid back either, he is the type of person who believes that actions speak louder than words and that one should always be doing something.
History: Aidan Alexander was born into nobility in the ancient village of Dragon's Cradle, a place known for its violent weather and violent people. He was the middle of three children, having a brother who was 10 years his senior, and a sister who was 2 years younger than he. From an early age, Aidan displayed exceptional talent and dedication to the art of combat, spending most of his days honing his skills with sword and shield. As he grew older, a flame of passion ignited within him, not only for his training but also for a girl named Maria.
Maria was a vibrant and kind-hearted young woman who captivated Aidan's heart. Their love blossomed amidst the ancient stone walls of Dragon's Cradle, and they dreamt of a future together. However, fate had a different path in store for Aidan.
In order to fulfill his duty and follow in his family's footsteps, Aidan was sent to Frost Gale, in an attempt to join the Knights of Galavance. His departure was bittersweet, leaving behind Maria and their dreams and, sadly, would mark the beginning of a series of tragic events that would forever change his life.
Unbeknownst to Aidan, who was off training with the Knights of Galavance, his family had ties to the previous leadership of Dragon's Cradle, who had been ruthlessly slaughtered. Blamed for the past regime's actions, Aidan and his family were exiled from their beloved city. Forced to abandon their homeland, they sought refuge with Scern, a charismatic but dangerous cult leader who had gained influence over Dragon's Cradle in the wake of the upheaval.
Aidan tried to return to his former village after receiving word of what had happened and finishing his training. He was told that his family had been excommunicated and that they had been seen with Scern. Aidan set out to find his love and his missing family with dread in his heart, having heard of the cruelty of Scern. It didn't take long for him to find the mad cult leader and his ever growing cult. He decided to travel with the group to try and convince his parents to leave. Maria would not leave also, as her own parents were also devout followers of Scern.
Maria, being a woman of unwavering faith, refused to embrace the new order imposed by Scern. Her beliefs in the old Gods clashed with the cult leader's ideology, making her a target of his wrath. In a display of power, Scern ordered Maria's execution, burning her alive in front of Aidan as the cult leaders held him back. Among them his own mother, father, and sister, leaving Aidan devastated and carrying the weight of her memory on his shoulders.
Aidan, broken and consumed by grief, vowed to break free from Scern's clutches. He managed to escape the cult and found himself enslaved, forced to fight in brutal pit matches in the treacherous Marsh Flats. Balan, a ruthless overseer and slave driver, held Aidan captive, using him as a pawn for his own gain.
To brand Aidan as a slave, Balan tattooed a mark across the top of his right hand, a constant reminder of his servitude. Yet, Aidan never lost sight of his ultimate goal: to regain his freedom and seek justice for Maria's unjust death.
Days turned into months, and months turned into years as Aidan fought tooth and nail in the pit matches, enduring the pain and brutality of each battle. His skills honed through years of noble training now served him well, gradually earning him the respect of both his fellow slaves and the crowd that filled the pit stands. Even earning himself a nickname for the amount of people he killed. They called him "Stone Fist" because of his penchant for fighting with just his fists.
Through sheer determination, Aidan caught the attention of a mysterious figure known only as the "Masked Benefactor." This enigmatic benefactor recognized Aidan's potential and offered him a deal: win his freedom by winning a grand tournament in the Marsh Flats, organized by the benefactor himself.
Aidan accepted the challenge, fueled by his desire for liberation and his unwavering love for Maria. With every swing of his fist, he fought not only for himself but for the memory of his beloved. The tournament proved to be grueling, pushing Aidan to his limits, but his noble spirit burned brighter than ever before.
In the final showdown, Aidan faced off against the champion of the pit fights, a towering adversary whose brutality was feared by all. The crowd watched with bated breath as the two combatants clashed in an epic battle of strength and skill. Aidan's determination and the memories of Maria surged through his veins, granting him a newfound strength.
The champion of the pit fights towered over Aidan and swung a vicious looking battle axe for the meaty part between Aidan's shoulder and neck. He quickly dove to the right dodging the blow while also swinging his leg out as he spun to his feet in an attempt to trip the champion. His boot connected with solid muscle and the big man didn't even flinch. He just snarled down at Aidan before grabbing him by the throat. Aidan fought hard, before swinging a kick into the side of the man's head and twisting himself around on the arm pulling the big man down with him. He pulled back on the arm and twisted hearing a loud meaty pop from the arm and the big man howled in pain and anger.
Looks like I hurt him... Aidan thought as he drove his heel into the man's face breaking four of his teeth and cracking his jawbone. The big man went limp, and Aidan slowly climbed to his feet. Spitting a mouthful of blood to his right and looking up and the huge and silent crowd. They hadn't expected their champion to go down so easy. He gazed up at the spot where Marv would be watching. He never assumed the man would have him killed. What little he had interacted with Marv alone had been pleasant enough. But the man who owned his contract. Well that was a different story.
Balan smiled wickedly down at Aidan and leaned over to whisper something into Marv's ear. But the big beast man got to his feet and cut Balan short. The look of contempt at being cut off almost made Aidan grin despite all the hell he'd been through.
"Excellent job!" Marv said as the crowd erupted into cheers. He calmly waited for the cheering to die down before speaking again. "You have won this tournament and are our current Pit Champion. And so to you, I award your freedom, as the price on your contract has been paid in full to me and delivered to Balan." Marv says as Balan's look changes to surprise and horror.
"I would like to offer you a job working and fighting for me full time if you'll take it." Marv said as he looks down at Aidan looking down at the dirt between his boots. His brown hair hanging down over his face like a curtain.
"No.. and I thank you Master Marv, for the offer, but I have business that I must attend to first." Aidan said as he raises his brown eyes to meet the beastkin's face.
"Then I wish you well in your future endeavors. You are your own man again Aidan Au Alexander of Dragon's Cradle." Marv said as Aidan nods and turns on his heel and exits the pit. He head out into the cool and humid swampy air. Tasting fresh air as a free man for the first time in 5 years. Now all he had to do is hunt down Scern and get his revenge.
"Scern..." Aidan thinks aloud and the man's name tastes like ash on his tongue. He could go after Balan, and easily kill the man. But what would that gain. Balan was simply a bully with power, nothing more. Scern...the man was evil, and he still heard whispers of his name and following down here in the Marsh Flats. I'll find you.... Aidan thinks as he heads to the nearest tavern. Where he bathes and cleans himself up, and notices the clothes left for him by Marv. There was a note as well.
Hey kid,
Great job fighting in the pits. I don't know your full story, but I know you hold a lot of hate and anger in your heart for someone or something. I wanted to tell you. Don't let hate consume you and stop you from seeing the things right in front of your eyes. You have the potential to be a beacon of hope, Aidan. Use your skills, your strength, and your resilience not to perpetuate the cycle of violence, but to bring about change. Seek justice, not vengeance. It'll turn you into something worse than dead.
Let the lessons you've learned in the pits and the trials you've endured forge you into a man of compassion and understanding. Rise above the darkness that surrounds you and become a force for good. There are others who need your help, your guidance, and your unwavering spirit. Be a source of inspiration, Aidan, and let your actions speak louder than the clamor of revenge.
I leave you with these words, Aidan, in the hope that you will find solace and strength in them. The choice is yours, my friend, and I have faith that you will make the right one.
With sincerity and friendship,
Marv
P.S. Let yer fists do the talkin son
Aidan read the letter again before pocketing it. He sighs before setting out into the night.
