Danae Vermillion
Gender: Female
Age: 20's
Race: Human..?
Nationality: Sol City
Voice Claim: Emily Swallow (link)
Physical Description:
Danae Vermillion is a 6'5 Woman with long, silver hair and piercing blue eyes. More often than not, she is found in casual clothing - often flexible clothes that lean more toward mobility than protection, but does own and use Leather armor when required.
She is well built - due to multiple factors, her body is evenly maintained between Athleticism and Strength.
Her facial features are almost angelic, but almost everything else about her screams otherwise. Her eyes are piercing to the point of demanding respect and attention just by making eye contact, and seems almost ancient - like she holds more knowledge behind her eyes than she lets on.
Under the clothing and armor, her skin from her wrists, covering the majority of her torso to her collarbone, all the way down to mid-shin is covered in tattoos. The tattoos are written in Celestial, and those who can read them can identify that they are names. In some places across her skin, the tattoos are so dense that the white of her skin isn't visible. These tattoos are carefully covered and are not shown to those she doesn't want seeing them.
Hung on her back is a large, ornate looking Halberd. Along the shaft are engravings in Celestial into the wood. The blade itself appears to be made of Adamantine, and along the blades edge is more of the engravings. This weapon seems to never leave her person.
Personality:
Danae Vermillion is a patient woman - perhaps too patient. It takes a lot to test her patience, and she will generally remove herself from a situation if that becomes a possibility. On the very rare occasion that her patience wears out, Danae tends to lash out in explosive fashion, catching anybody and everybody in the crossfire, and takes a decent amount of time to calm down from it.
With friends, she is good company. She's lighthearted, hurls jokes around and generally seems to care deeply for who she is close with. The issue rises with her profound fear of attachment. More often than not, she forbids herself from growing close to people, and can sometimes come across as distant, seeing as that is exactly what she is trying to do.
If somebody manages to break down her walls and get to her, she is the type of friend to throw down with damn near anybody. She holds her friends close and tolerates no disrespect toward them. She truly does care about those she grows close with, and can sometimes be seen as protective and almost big-sisterly.
While she is often kind, patient and caring, she can be brutally honest at times, preferring to be blunt over beating around the bush. This is a sentiment she'd held for quite some time and has no intention of changing it, even if people hate her for it. She's never been bothered by the opinions of others, and does what she believes is best - that includes telling people the big scary truth over pretty little lies.
It is not uncommon to feel like she is hiding information or not telling the entire story. That is because she isn't. Generally speaking, she is a very secretive woman and holds a lot close to her chest. Even with close friends, it takes a lot to make her open up, which usually ends up poorly for those listening. Her past is filled with tragedy after tragedy, and despite her friendly demeanor, it becomes clear that most, if not all of it is a ruse - a façade.

Backstory
If you would prefer to find out in character, do not click the spoiler.
Danae Vermillion was, once upon a time, an Arch Angel of Solaris. While Solaris has long been dead, his domain in the heavens have been active and thriving, even in his eternal absence. In place of Solaris, there is a group of Arch Angels that carry out his will and uphold the Solaris name.
Danae herself was a part of this group, however she came to believe that the rest of the group was growing tyrannical in their decisions, and with a few decades of planning, launched a rebellion against the group. Lives were lost and the heavens suffered under the constant combat. With a hundred years of ongoing war, it was obvious that the rebellion was doomed to fail. Against her better judgement and rage, she pressed on, only to cause the further loss of life within her rebellion, which was crushed mercilessly.
Soon enough, Danae was kneeling in front of the Arch Angels, awaiting punishment. Execution was likely in her mind, and she was ready to face oblivion. However, she received a different kind of punishment that she was not expecting. Her body was to be tattooed with the names of the fallen. Millions of names appeared on her skin, an agonizing experience she will never forget. The names were so numerous that not a single patch of skin was visible under the ink staining her flesh.
She was to be banished from the heavens and sent down to the material plane. With each monster, cultist or other evil-aligned being seeking to do harm to the realm killed or otherwise banished, a single name would be removed. She would not age, but can still be killed. What lies beyond the veil is nothing. An endless dark that none can escape. There will be no afterlife, there will be no reincarnation. Not for her.
If her faith was certain, and her determination steeled, she can perhaps clear the names off her flesh and kneel before the Arch Angels once again for repentance.
Being banished into the material plane, her journey begins. In the beginning, she attracted many eyes, and soon enough had secluded herself away from society - at least until her face was clear of tattoos. It took her nearly a hundred years to clear her head and neck, and a further 330 years to clear her skin to the point it's at now.
Over the many, many years, she has gained and lost many friends and lovers, having to bury each and every one of them. Some might assume that death becomes easier to handle the more you experience it, but it really doesn't; not for Danae, at least. Each time, it took her a long time to recover from their loss, and even longer when it was somebody she loved. After countless friends and dozens of lovers in the dirt, she believes that it would simply be better if she never grew attached.
If one doesn't grow attached to somebody else, you do not have to grieve for them. You do not have to shed tears for their loss and miss their presence. This lifestyle for her has damaged her more than simple loss has, but she refuses to change, believing that she will be better off this way. This is her main fault: She has nobody. She doesn't mind people considering her a friend, but she cannot bring herself to make them her friends.
To this day, she resigns herself to monster hunting and anything she can do to clear the names. Perhaps some day she can relearn how to connect and befriend, and perhaps even love again, but as it stands, that seems more and more unlikely with each passing year.
