It was another nice and sunny day for the King's Valley. A soft breeze rolled through, brushing Rosen's back. The undead elf had sat themselves on a small, facing the sun to recover. He didn't particularly know why but his hunger would be held back as long as they continued to drink water and stay in the sun for awhile. The flowers that sprouted to cover his aged wounds tilted their heads up towards the midday sun.
"Ahh, I really want to enter the village... I know, I know they would become frightful. How was I meant to know I was scary?... You're right, the flowers didn't mask my corpsey musk before. But they're still scared!... I don't know. The clothes of my other friends don't fit me." Rosen spoke, as if there was someone there with him. To any bystander passing by, he would look rather crazy. But regardless, voices always replied to Rosen. It was always there ever since he woke up, like a lifelong friend. In fact, the voices were quite familiar to Rosen. That had been one of the main factors as to why he never questioned it.
A good deal of time passed by as Rosen's hunger went away. Rising from his spot, he spun a full 180 on his heel, now facing the only known place of civilization among the King's Valley: Thunderhoof Village. "Well! Another try won't hurt. Worrying about won't change a thing!" he exclaimed, cheering himself up. He began to start his trek to the village, hoping this time won't be as problematic.

Thalia was in an unusually good mood today.
This was a rare occurrence these days, waking up at a decent time and then being nice about it. Having just left the Kingswood, Thalia was walking with her hand in her leather pants pocket, picking at her nails with the other hand. The woman had been walking for a few hours, leaving Lilicors Village in the middle of the afternoon yesterday. The Dragon’s Cradle was at the very least two weeks away by foot, but she didn't mind. Anything to stall.
Walking towards Thunderhoof Village, a song on her lips and the wind whipping through her pallid hair, Thalia heard a sound. A voice, rather. Halting her song, she glanced over to find what appeared to be an elf sitting a ways away. She blinked. Or at least, she thought it was an elf. They looked awfully haggard, mostly skin and bone.
The eye patched woman was curious, raising the one brow that was visible as she listened to this elf ramble on and on. She looked around, and hummed when she realized no one was there. Huh. Thalia remarked to herself, noting the excess of flowers covering the body. Must be Sylvan.
With that thought in mind, Thalia watched the elf stand, pivoting and walking towards Thunderhoof Village. The pure confusion on her face morphed into curiosity, a large smile warping the scar on her chin and pulling oddly at the stitches around her eye patch. New person! Her mind supplied excitedly, and with that she was off.
It didn't take her much time at all to catch up to the stranger, the heels of her boots making a distinct sound on the dirt road. Kindly, Thalia reached forward once she was right behind him, noting the rancid smell. Oh gross, he smells like a corpse. Looks like one too… maybe a vampire? Thalia mused to herself, oddly nonplussed. She tapped him on the shoulder, careful not to obstruct any flowers possibly residing there.
“’Scuse me,” Thalia called, a grin on her face as she walked around the side of the stranger. Definitely a vampire, she noted ignorantly. Her voice was high pitched and nasal, carrying with it a drawl and a tiny hint of strange accent. “You headed to Thunderhoof, too?”

Stood in front of this fellow elf was what was obviously an undead sylvan elf, dressed in a torn pink sweater and light blue shorts. What was most eye-catching about Rosen was the dagger imbedded into his skull with a heart painted on it, vines and flowers wrapped around it. As he turned around to face this new possible friend, Thalia would be able to see the many different types of flora that covered this undead lad. A mixture of blue, yellow, and red flowers filled in for the places where this corpse was maimed. Out of all the flower that seemingly grew from within this creature, the right eye replaced with a rose and the left arm, being nothing more than bone, having vines to replace the flesh that was lost was the most alarming. Despite all these grotesque features, the voice that came out of this thing was nothing of the sort.
"Oh! Hello! Yes, I am heading to Thunderhoof right now. You're an elf too! We're both elves! Though, I'm a little more dead inside than you. Oh, actually we match a little." The undead elf rambled excitedly, pointing with his skeletal hand at her eye patch. "Wait, was that rude? I'm sorry. You're actually the first living person to approach me who hasn't tried to kill me right away. Wait, are you going to kill me? Is it because I was rude? Please don't though." Rosen spoke in a fast pace without any sort of pause for air. Perhaps he didn't need to. Though, what was clear was that he had no filter when it came to stating things.

Thalia finds herself staring, and staring hard. Okay… maybe not a vampire. Thalia had never seen an undead before, but she sure as anything knew what she was looking at. Every small feature seemed to lead her one eye to a new one, and then another, and another still. The blade lodged in the stranger's head took most of her attention.
“Woah…” she was saying, her eye wide as she fought every instinct in her telling her to touch it. That would be rude, right? Something like that. Thalia either didn't realize that she was staring so heavily, or she simply didn't care. At hearing the elf's concerns, Thalia was blinking out of her trance. A million questions raced through her mind, but she decided to halter them for now.
“Kill you? Well that's stupid, why the hell would I kill you?” Thalia questioned, raising her brow. “I've got nothing against you, also you look super cool. I don't know if I'm supposed to say that but it is the truth.” Thalia clasped her hands behind her back, her head dipping a little bit to take in more of this stranger's features.
“I don't think it was rude, I mean it probably was, but I don't really care.” Thalia said honestly, Her smile still intact. The elf herself was trying to piece together what happened to this person, getting a little closer to see his face. Unfortunately she couldn't see very well, so she was trying her best to focus. “You got a name under all that pink?”
The most noticeable feature of Thalia's face was her eye patch, which was big enough to cover almost the entirety of the left side of her face. However, unlike a normal eye patch, this one had the decal of a poorly drawn eye on it, and it appeared sewn into the skin. It was all done very sloppily, but it didn't seem that Thalia cared. If nothing else, she didn't seem a stranger to mutilation.

The mostly dead elf held a wide grin. Someone didn't want them dead outright? They didn't panic or run away? This day is already turning out great! Though, he never really thought of a name for himself. He didn't remember much when he woke up besides that he was a gardener. He stared off into space, thinking of a title to call himself... Perfect.
"Rosen Peace! Because I 'rose in peace' and definitely didn't 'rest in peace'." Rosen explained, the naming obviously built out of a joke as his proud smile read. The fallen adorned in flowers began to walk as he talked to what he believed as his friend.
"You look very cool yourself. I'm dubbing you as my eyepatch buddy. But anyways, I'm trying to get into the village. My guardian spirits told me I should learn about what I missed while I was dead- well, deader. They keep telling me I have to get revenge on a guy named Darius? No clue who that is. Would you happen to know? Also what year is it?" As Rosen began pelting the nice lady with questions, he couldn't help but stare at her eyepatch. He wondered as to who or what would do that to this kind elf. In fact, it felt familiar in a way. He felt a deep seated anger but shrugged it off. Maybe something he was remembering was getting him mad.

The sound that erupted out of Thalia when Rosen said his name was a high pitched, maniacal sounding laughter, loud enough that it probably scared a few birds away in the distance. Her hand flew to her chest as she laughed, wiping her tears from her right eye with a grin. “Ohhhhh I get it, I get it! That's really clever! Really cool name too, good for you.”
The woman placed her hand to her chest again, her nails jagged and black as she introduced herself: “My name here and everywhere else is Thalia, Thalia Fellstar. Such a pleasure to meet you, Rosen Peace. Also, eyepatch buddy? I've never heard that one before. I'd be totally honored!” Thalia added with a chipper grin.
“Sad to say I don't really know anybody by the name Darius.” Thalia said, a pout on her features when she finds that she can't recall. “I myself am fresh out of Eclipse City and I've been walking for days, so everyone I talked to and everything I find is for the first time. That sucks to say though, why do you need revenge? Ohhh maybe the spirits don't tell you that, nevermind.”
Thalia tilted her head back, thoughtful. “Well… As for the year I have no clue. I stopped counting after I turned 150. Somewhere in the 15,000s though. You seem like, really out of it.” She paused, pointing bluntly to the dagger sticking out of his skull. “Are you planning on going into town with that? That's probably not the best idea if you don't like, wanna get yelled at. Unless you like can't take it out, then completely forget what I was saying.”

“Well Thalia, me personally, I don’t need the revenge. I’m just happy I’m alive again y’know? Got no idea what happened to me so nothing much to worry about. My guardian spirits, er, I actually don’t know if they are. They’ve been talking to me ever since I woke up so I just call them that. They tell me that I need to kill this Darius dude and normally, I wouldn’t. But they’re pretty much my best friends. They’ve kept me company all this time so I gotta help them. Its what friends do.”
Hearing the year, Rosen’s face went from a happy, careless look to a sudden shift of somber quiet. “O-oh… Thats actually concerning. If thats true… How long ago was the last war? I think it was called the Rune War?” Rosen asked, now a little quieter and less manic as before. He looked down as he pondered. Was he really dead for that long? No right? On hearing the comment about the dagger that made his skull their lovely abode, he raised his hand and tugged on the dagger. It gave very little movement. As quick as Rosen’s smile disappeared, it reappeared once more as his tone went back to one of an optimistic youth. “Yeaahhh, that suckers not moving anytime soon. Thats why I painted a heart on it. So it didn’t seem so scary.” Rosen reasoned. “My guardians also grew some flowers on it to make it pretty. They pretty much did that for everything that looked too scary for people. Though, some adventurers take it as me being some sort of powerful entity, which I am not.” As Rosen says this, he flicks one of the many flowers on his body.

Thalia blinked, not expecting the question. Geez, this guy must have been dead for a while. Wonder how long if he's asking about the Rune War… gods what if he’s as old as the Rune War? She never met an elf that old before.
“Hmm, well if I remember correctly,” Thalia pondered aloud, tapping her finger to her chin. “From what I learned, the Rune War was a little over 3000 years ago? Or something like that. I wasn't the best at school so I can't really tell you for suresies.” She shrugged.
“Yknow, never would peg you for a powerful deity. Then again, I'm not too well versed on like, zombies and stuff.” Thalia said, semi talking to Rosen but also just thinking aloud. She took a quick glance over Rosen's body, noting the many flowers and the decorated hilt of the dagger. “I mean yeah, it's super pretty. If your guardian angels or whatever were planning on decorating your body then they definitely succeeded.
I think that people are going to be scared either way though,” Thalia continued, reaching into her bag for something. She pulled out a hair tie, and tied her hair back into a loose ponytail. “Wait, have you been into town yet? Where did you rise from?”

“I’m pretty sure most just assume I’m like every other undead and wanna kill them. Its understandable but it sucks.” Rosen turned around and pointed back to where he was sitting. “Anyways, I woke up a good ways back there about 3 weeks ago. My old village, its actually not too far from here. Its destroyed now though. Not really sure what happened to it. But ever since then, I learned from some of the locals that there was another village that wasn’t destroyed. Been trying to get in but the guards aren’t really keen on letting ol’ me in. Oh and I wouldn’t call myself a deity. I’m not like the 5 gods. Just some guy that won’t die.” He chuckles to himself. Turning back around, Thunderhoof Village was now in view. The several buildings dotting the landscape, a majority clustered around the edges of the village. It was distant and only barely audible from this range but the sound of busy streets rang through the wide plains.
“Hm, now how do I get in this time?… Oh, maybe! Hey, Thalia, do you happen to have anything to disguise me? A big cloak maybe?” Rosen asked. As he does, the rhythmic clanging of metal begins to approach. It starts off slow with light thumps. As it grew nearer, however, the footfalls became heavy and in much quicker tempo as the noise drew nearer until eventually, a guard adorned in a knight’s armor stands before the two, halberd already drawn and pointed at the zombie elf. ”Back away citizen!” They exclaimed.

Thalia whistled lowly, doing the fast mental math. If the last thing that Rosen remembered was the Rune War, or at the very least it was the last significant event, she couldn’t even imagine the utter confusion he felt. She was about to ask what Rosen meant by the guards not letting him in when they had approached the gates of Thunderhoof Village proper.
The approach of a guard has Thalia’s ever-present smile wavering slightly, especially when brandishing the halberd. She blinked, her hands placed on her hips and walking closer, standing between Rosen and the guard. She laughed sarcastically. “Okayyyy, clearly there's a problem here if you find it necessary to point weapons at people. What the hell is with the attitude??”
Another guard was approaching, slower than the other one. Likely as backup, Thalia figured. Irritated, the moon elf sighed heavily as she eventually put two and two together. She groaned. The last thing she needed was a run-in with the law outside of a new place. Especially when she felt like she was probably going to have to run? Thalia couldn't get arrested! She was agrophobic! (Thalia didn't realize that she was thinking about claustrophobia, and unfortunately, she probably never would.)

"You're kidding right? Its a monster! The sooner it dies, the safer things are!" The main guard exclaimed, questioning this moon elf's choices. Rosen steps forward with a covered smile, an interesting idea brewing in that impaled head of his. He scans the guard up and down, searching for a thing he's often seen on these guards with each attempt to enter the village... There it is. Now then-
"Hey, thats kinda rude. I haven't even hurt anyone. In fact, most people have tried to hurt me and I don't see you doing anything about it. You're kinda bad at your job." "I-You're an undead! Who knows when you'll attack!? Just because you somewhat have a mind doesn't change the fact that you're a zombie! Now stand aside, pixie ears, or you'll be taken to the pound!" "You're gonna bring Thalia to a dog?" The guard stops his approach abruptly... Both the main guard and the one watching look towards Rosen in utter confusion. "W-what?" The friendly zombie looks towards Thalia and subtly does a head nudge towards the main guard, hoping she will see notice that, placed in the belt, lays a golden key ring with many silver keys attached to it. "You just said you were gonna take her to the hound." "No, pound. Like jail?" "Thats what I said, hound." The main guard looks at their subordinate, clearly losing brain cells as this conversation continues. The undead elf continues to play dumb, gas-lighting and throwing out odd claims to keep these two guards distracted.

Thalia looked ready for a retort, completely ready to slap this person’s halberd clean from his hand and insight a riot of the nth degree, when suddenly she caught Rosen giving her a look. It wasn't a look that she was unfamiliar with, full of something that made Thalia forcefully stop herself from grinning wider. Oh she liked the cut of this guy.
Taking a step aside from Rosen and the guard, Thalia pretended she wasn't listening, her hands clasping behind her back. This was hilarious, absolutely hilarious. It had been a while since she'd had a partner in chaos, she would say crime but crime wasn't exactly what she was looking for. At least, so long as I didn't get caught.
It was a little harder to swipe the keys under two separate pairs of eyes, and in all honesty Thalia wasn't the stealthiest, but Rosen must have said something to catch both of the guard's attention. Thalia then reached her arms up, quickly catching the hair tie and unfurling her hair, exaggeratedly yawning. The hair tie flew and hit the guard in the head, now split between two people's attention.
“Oh geez soo sorry,” Thalia crooned, waving her hand exaggeratedly. She ducked down to grab the hair tie, slightly bumping the guard with her hip much to their chagrin. It was lucky that the guard didn't seem to want to keep their eyes off of Rosen. The veins in Thalia’s arm suddenly bulged out of her wrist, one shadowy claw materializing around her pointer and thumb finger.1 Silently breaking the key ring around their belt loop, Thalia exaggeratedly stood back up, close enough that the guard had to literally dodge out of the way to not be hitting the head when she rose up.
“Gods you guys don't know anything about personal space do you? Back up would ya?” She huffed, shuffling swiftly and putting the hair band back in her bag along with the key ring. It was probably the most seamless job she'd ever done, but gods only knew if she succeeded. Her side eye to Rosen was her only indication that she had done it.

Rosen smiled, glad that she caught on to what he was trying to accomplish. Now, its time for the much more tiring part. Normally, doing this would not bode well and most would end up getting arrested. Though, for an undead who's essentially powered by sunlight- "Well, its been fun chatting but I smell living people to consu- Hey what's behind you!" Rosen immediately begins sprinting in the other direction. "You really think I'm gonna fall for th- Hey!" The two guards begin chasing after the sylvan. Before he can get too far, Rosen looked back at the lady he called his eyepatch buddy. He mouthed: I'll be fine. He turned back around, looking for any sort of terrain in these plains that could be some help. In the distance, about half a mile away, a semi-large hill with a somewhat steep slope. Not perfect but it would work. He ran towards it, the men in metal following suit. Once reached, Rosen clambered up the hill, taking bigger strides. The guardsmen themselves were having trouble, what with their heavy armor slowing them down and metal grieves slipping on the grass. The elvish zombie took advantage of the time this made, hurrying his pace up the hill. At the top, he looked down at the soldiers. They were about halfway up the hill. "... Hey, its not a stupid idea if it works... Ah, what have we got to lose." Rosen took a few steps back, getting out of view... Before jumping down the hill towards the guards. He spread out his limbs wide with the dumbest grin on his face. "How the hell is it so fas- oi oi what the hell!?" Rosen's body slams into the two, sending all three of them tumbling down the hill. "Ow! Ouch! Damn it! I'm! Regretting! This!" He yelled each time he hit the ground. Rolling down with the sounds of metal clanging and petals flying off, the group hit the bottom. Rosen laid there next to the two guards, them being unconcious. The flowers that were spotted all over him were now ruined, only the dead stems were left. "... Ya ya that wasn't the greatest of plans."

Thalia let out a shrill whistle as she watched Rosen book it in the other direction. This guy was pretty damn athletic, for an undead dude. With that private musing being kept to herself, Thalia turned around and ran towards the gates, already rummaging through her bag. It was surprising that there were no other guards around, considering the new increase of security, but considering who was coming in they probably wouldn't use the front door.
Thalia unlocked the gates with ease, opening them and looking over her shoulder towards Rosen. She could barely see him by now, and as her eyesight wasn't all that great anyway she had to really squint to see him run up a hill, and in one of the most ridiculous moves that she had ever seen, basically clothesline the two of them. He fell amateurly to the ground, and Thalia let forth a high pitched shriek of laughter at the sight.
This guy was nuts. Thalia mused with laughter. She raised a hand to her face, calling out a particularly loud “OI!!” She waved him over energetically, her shrill voice carrying for what felt like a mile. She would go over to see if he was all right, but if someone were to come by and see what Thalia had done, it wouldn't bode well for either of them.

Rosen slowly raised his skeletal arm up and gave a thumbs up upon hearing Thalia call out. Though, as he did, the bone began to crack from the trauma of rolling down a hill. The cracks slowly forming around the bone till eventually, the arm broke, falling to the side a bit. The vines that wrapped around the bone were the only thing keeping it together as it bounced in the wind. "... Don't give me that. It's only a flesh wound... Bone wound, whatever. I didn't hear you making a better plan" He said to the voices giving him sass for his ridiculous plan. Rosen stood up and quickly inspected the two he messed up. Yep, definitely unconscious and not dead... hopefully. If they were, well... He'd rather not find out. Turning back towards Thunderhoof, he gave a light jog, their broken arm flailing in the wind. After a bit, he caught up to his friend, waving with his not destroyed arm. "Ya I don't think I'm gonna be blending in that well anymore huh? I appreciate you working with my dumb idea though. That guy is a jerk and I'm honestly tired of taking the high road with him." Rosen said with a smile. He raised his fractured arm. "Think you can give me a hand?"
