"Yes, your words bore me to incredible lengths, and I cannot stand to listen for a second longer," she responds with a flat tone, a smile on her face. Her body reactively flinched away from the touch as her smile widened slightly. C'Leena batted away Nepheles hand playfully.
"That explains where you learnt to fight, though! I'd been wondering about that," She pauses, looking at Nephele with thoughtful eyes. "Maybe you could teach me a thing or two? I've always been a rapier sort of gal but I'd be interested in learning. Up to you, however."
"Wanna know something? I was this close," she pinches for index and thumb together, barely a millimeter apart. "To joining the military. Actually, no, I did join, but like you, I got the fuck outta dodge a few months into boot camp. I joined cause I simply needed something to do after Rose passed, but surprise surprise, being yelled at by a drill sergeant at the asscrack of dawn, then being yelled at for the entirety of the day for every mistake anybody made was not very good for me. So I left." She shrugs.
"Might go back when I'm less likely to beat someone to death with their own arm; giving me a gun is probably not a good idea. You don't know what a gun is, do you? Fuck I don't actually know how to explain it.. Shit, that's annoying," she says, her speech turning into a mumble as she frowns and scratches her head.
Her main reasoning behind wanting to join the military was to become a Field Medic. Almost always a non-combat role, even on the frontlines, means while you might be shot at, chances of her getting targeted directly were always slim. But that idea seems to have been put on the backburner. At least until she figures out a way to go to and from worlds. She was dragged here, there has to be a way to drag her back to Earth and come back.

Nephele smiled mischievously, immediately clocking the way C'Leena jerked away. She definitely wasn't saving that information for later (the way she quirked a brow and bit into her bottom lip with a grin said otherwise).
"I would love to teach you!" Nephele acquiesced easily, her eyes twinkling at the idea of showing C'Leena how to fight hand to hand. "I promise it won't be as dangerous as last time, I'm still a bit rusty it seems. But I could teach you the basics of piguaquan, which is the main style that I was taught. Being as I didn't take too much time to learn the in between bits, I made some things up in accordance to my body's flexibility, strength, and vulnerability."
Nephele then scanned her eyes over C'Leena's form, maybe a few times more than necessary, before saying: "Your body type is different than mine, so you would probably be better off learning palm techniques. I would be more than happy to teach you how, even in a metaphysical sense, to feel your arms again." It was a lot that she was putting on herself, as someone who was a such a spontaneous learner, but she was determined to help Cee out. What she had said was unintentionally a little poetic, but she didn't notice.
Also, Nephele had definitely never seen a gun in her life. "I've...heard of guns, I've never seen them before. From what I know is that they're a frightening weapon, the last thing you need with your oh so precious temper."

C'Leena feigned a surprised attitude, hand over heart. "What of my temper? I am a perfectly calm individual who does not get angry at nobles for any reason whatsoever! The mere fact you suggest otherwise is hurtful, petal."
"But yeah, I'd love to learn. In turn, would you be interested in learning sword technique? Granted, it's only with the rapier, but I'd feel bad not paying you back one way or another," she pauses, looking at Nephele and lightly scoffing with a mix between a smile and a wry grin. "Glad you like my 'body type'; I put a hell of a lot of work into it. You flatter me," She says with a chuckle.
"The form I use for my swordplay is - ironically enough for me - The Way of the Reaper. Don't ask who named it, I've no idea. It's focused on deception and feints more than outright aggression. That, and it can be an incredibly beautiful art if done in a more showy-manner."
"Now, you never did actually answer this question: Do you know how to wrap your hands properly? By the way, how're they feeling? Pain, discomfort, difficulty moving your fingers?" She asks, slipping into her 'Doctor' mode by the end.

Nephele was trying very hard not to burst into a fit of giggles every five to ten seconds. She had never expressly said anything about it, but petal was one of her favorite C’Leena given nicknames. She could go an entire day addressing her by that nickname alone and the nymph would probably positively melt into a puddle. It showed in how obviously she melted into a dopey smile at C’Leena’s cute little jest. She had to physically shake her head to snap out of it, blaming her general grogginess for how much she was slipping up tonight.
Nephele pretended that she didn't hear the flirty retort, cutting her eyes sidelong for a moment in shyness. She instead chose to focus on what C’Leena was telling her about her sword play, remembering that day that they fought those bandits. She barely had any time to notice, but from what snippets that she saw in her peripheral, Cee was surprisingly agile for her bodily modifications. It gave her a bit of confidence for when she would try and teach her herself.
“You pay me back enough just with your presence, Cee.” Nephele said easily. “But I think that learning to use a blade would be pretty beneficial. I've never thought myself particularly good with swords and polearms, but it would be nice to learn, especially if you're teaching me.”
When the topic turned to how her hands felt, Nephele decided to try a little something. Her hands still hurt quite a bit, a jolt of electricity seemingly splintering her hands in twain whenever she tried to use them, but she had never had a doctor before C’Leena. What's more, every other injury Nephele received while traveling had been completely ignored, most of the time healing on its own over the course of several months longer than it was supposed to. In short, Nephele was able to ignore her pain for the most part as she lifted her hand to cup C’Leena’s cheek, and thumb over the soft skin there with pure adoration.
Feeling oddly sentimental, Nephele leaned in and kissed C’Leena, a quick one. She then proceeded to repeat this process several more times, until her wrist protested with another sharp shock that reached her fingertips. She had to drop her hand, but when she pulled away she was beaming. “Sorry, you’re just… really cute when you care so much. I absolutely adore you.”
It was a strong, almost aggressively sweet segue. She said nothing else for several seconds, just staring in awe, and then Nephele winced, and the pain was back all over: “But yeah, it still hurts like hell. I think it broke more just now, ow...”

C'Leena tsk'ed at Nephele, choosing sentiment over their own busted hand, it was adorable and she loved it, but as a doctor, it hurt inside. She got up from her chair and kissed her on the forehead. Holy fuck I love her, she thinks to herself, a large smile on her face.
"I'll be back, hon. Don't. Move. Your. Hands." She said sternly, a pointer finger wagging with each word. Her smile defeats the sternness of her tone. She leaves the room and returns a few minutes later with her medical kit. She sits back down, sets the kit on the table and opens it up and starts rifling through it. She takes out a number of items and begins jury-rigging a splint together.
It takes a good moment to do, but the final product is a surprisingly decent splint. She beckons for Nepheles busted hand and has another look at it. Nephele said broken however it doesn't seem like it. Incredibly painful? Sure, that makes sense, but it's not broken. C'Leena just wished she had some ibuprofen to give. Damn you, world, with the lack of painkillers n' shit.
With some finagling, she's able to get the splint on. It's not the best she's seen (Granted, her standards are incredibly high compared to the medical levels here) but it works a charm. Her other hand seems to be healing without too much fuss, but knowing Nephele, she'll manage to bugger it up one way or another, so she does the same with that hand too.
The end product is Nephele, now generally unable to use her wrists or pick anything up. "Mkay, Petal," She hardly missed her particular reaction to that nickname. "Heres the shtick, alright, You gotta keep these lil beauts on for a good bit of time; few weeks if Magic Bullshit doesn't intervene. During that time, the only times you take these off is to clean under them. If you can't do something, come get me and I'll do it for you. I literally do not give a shit what it is." She informs in probably the most unprofessional way possible.
"Now, may I make a suggestion? Lets try to get some sleep; you look fucked beyond recognition, boo. Your lack of sleep has me concerned."

Nephele has decided immediately that she hates the braces. She frowned at how they felt, rotating them mechanically and bringing her arm close to her face for further examination. Nephele pouted, something she outright refused to do as someone who policed her own facial expressions so much, blinking slowly as she listened to C'Leena's explanation.
It made sense why she should listen, but everything in her wanted to take them off as soon as C'Leena turned around. Nephele then made eye contact with her girlfriend, staring as she suggested her to sleep. She very much mimicked the appearance of a sad puppy, confused and big eyed as her exhaustion caught up to her.
"But whyyy?" Nephele asked, the last syllable drawn out in whine, falling forward to wrap her arms around C'Leena's waist. "'M fine. I've slept for less." As if on cue, Nephele yawned loudly, a high pitched sound petering it off at the end as she held onto C'Leena in a tight hug. It seemed that the braces did nothing to deter her strength, her eyes opening and closing determinedly.

"Why? 'Cause you haven't slept in days, darling. Now either you and I walk our asses up there and sleep, or I carry you up there myself. There is no third option," C'Leena says with a smile. She wraps her arms around Nephele and simply looks into her eyes.
As much as C'Leena loved simply talking with Nephele, they both need sleep. She would feel bad for keeping her up any longer than she already has. Plus, theres always tomorrow to spend time with her. This isn't to say that C'Leena isn't dreading sleep herself, although her woes pale in comparison, and she's not about to add more to Nepheles plate.
"I know you don't like the braces, but unless you want to have more permanent damage to your hands, it's a small sacrifice you need to make, alright? If you can't do it for yourself, then do it for me?"
Until Nephele decides to cooperate or be stubborn, C'Leena is happy to stay in this embrace. Nephele may be extremely cold, but they always feel warm. It's like the cold underside of a pillow; it's always preferred over the warm side.
"Now, whats it gonna be, hm? Am I gonna have to bridal carry you up there, or are you going to walk with me? Your eyes may be beautiful, but the puppy dog eyes don't work on me."

Nephele is between glaring sleepily up at C'Leena, so many protests in on the verge of slipping through, and simply falling asleep in her arms right then and there. Surprisingly, she managed to sit up, letting go of Cee with a groan. She stood up, stretching again and wincing when she tried to ball her fists. Nephele sighed, annoyed with the contraptions but listening to C'Leena over her own protests.
"Fine...c'mon, I need a pillow." Nephele mumbled, wandering over to the bed with a huff. She didn't really bother with the blankets; as C'Leena had learned, she didn't like wearing them as often. She still didn't mind huddling up to C'Leena, covered up or not, though she would sometimes wake up with the covers at least covering her legs when she awoke next.
She yawned and sprawled herself out on the bed, watching C'Leena. "...Do you want to feel them again? In your hands and feet I mean?" Nephele asked, half-conscious with her voice slurring, her accent making it harder to understand. "Cuz I can...help you...I'll make sure I help you..."
Nephele let herself close her eyes, fighting her exhaustion with a vengeance. "Thank you, I won't let you down...never again." C'Leena got the feeling that everything Nephele was saying was mostly unintentional, things she would never say if she were at all full energy unless explicitly asked.

C'Leena smiled and sat on the edge of the bed after Nephele laid down. She was about to start her nightly ritual of removing her prosthetics except for an arm when she was asked an unexpected question. She took a second to think about it before responding.
"I haven't felt anything with them in nearly 4 years now. I've grown used to it, so I'm not under any rush to get my feeling back, but I'd be lying if I said it hasn't been something I've wanted for a long time," she answers. She smiles widely as the sleep-deprived Nephele promises to help. "Thank you, Neph. That means a lot."
She disconnects her legs and arm, setting them aside before rolling herself against Nephele. As Nephele has learnt, C'Leena has issues with her prosthetics misfiring during sleep. ("They can't tell the difference between a wakeful command and a dream. You could theoretically tell if I were dreaming if my arm is twitching or something,") she said some time ago, now. It would be a recipe to getting kicked in the shins or something during the night, so she opts to simply take them off except for an arm.
She rolls to face Nephele, whos eyes are drooping heavily. She gives her a light kiss before quietly saying "You've never let me down, petal. I love you." She knew these were the ramblings of a sleep deprived brain, but she still liked talking back to her. It was awfully adorable.
In the silence, the quiet winds whistling outside the window, along with C'Leenas mechanical lung and heart, whirring with each pulse and each breath she took. The rhythmic pulsing used to keep C'Leena up at night, but she quickly found comfort in it. It makes for a good centering focus, and is almost a reminder that she really is still around.
She's had to remember that this is real, especially now that she has Nephele. For now, she steels her mind for the restless sleep to come.
