C'Leena nods throughout her side of the story. Unsure how to immediately respond, she takes a moment to gather her thoughts. Words had never been harder to form.
"Since Rose passed, I'd been coping in a rather common, but unwise manner. I focused entirely on myself, trying to improve myself in ways that didn't help what was going on up here," she taps her temple. "Because of that, and further incidents that caused even more fuck-shit in my head, I never healed, and barely began the recovery process, despite it all being years ago by now.
"Since you turned up, though? You've made me open up with these things in a matter of hours when it has taken years for even my friends and family back home to get even a bit from me. And honestly? I haven't felt better. You've learnt all this about me, yet you still stick around. That's what I've been most afraid of, is scaring people off because of what I've gone through. It tends to make people think that I'm on a different level than anyone else, but in reality, I've wanted nothing more than to just.. talk."
C'Leena has felt so much.. Lighter since being able to talk about everything to her. Nephele has done so much for her in so little time, it's genuinely magic. C'Leenas hands shake for a moment, her prosthetics misreading her racing mind as input before she clamps down on them.
"The boundary was to wait until I'm a bit more stable, but that was under the assumption that I would be tackling the same massive problem as I was then. With you around, though? You giving me your support through just being You? It's made it easier." She takes a moment to breathe. She was rushing through her words, as if she were worried she'd lose them if she didn't use them.
"I want to suggest something. It asks a lot of you, but maybe we can forgo the 'taking it easy' portion. Still ease us into it, but not have to stress ourselves and each other out, freaking out if we're going too fast or too slow for the other. We can have times to love and be loved and we can figure out something that works for us both. I don't know what that would be, but I'd like to find out with you, if you're willing to. What do you think?"
C'Leena felt like she indeed was asking a lot with this. She was essentially asking her to change her views on relationships and more it felt. Truthfully, she wasn't entirely certain what she was asking of her, but it felt like a lot. The shaking returned and she wasn't entirely successful in clamping down on it. The sheer amount of nervousness in her system cannot be healthy.

Somehow, the atmosphere felt both heavy and light now that they had both spilled what they were feeling. While Nephele listened to C'Leena's perspective, she crossed her legs again, hanging onto her every word. She looked incredibly serious, leaned forward and nodding slowly as C'Leena spoke. At the mention of Nephele helping her by simply listening, it nearly caught her off guard. She was visibly flustered, but less panicky than before.
Nephele saw C'Leena's hands twitch in her peripheral, but she didn't immediately point it out it. She stayed completely silent, until the discussion of something less constricting came up for their companionship, and Nephele visibly brightened. The thought of a natural, eased progression of a relationship honestly quelled that impatient itch in the back of her mind. There was that urge to reconfirm another thirty times that C'Leena was sure, but if the anxiousness in her body language told her anything it was that she was probably taking this way more serious than Nephele could even account for.
And by the gods if she didn't find it cute as all hell.
Nephele stood up from the floor again, this time a little more assured, and sat beside C'Leena. Being as the doctor's hands had barely any feeling, Nephele used what little bit she knew through C'Leena about prosthetics and slowly pulled her into another hug. It wasn't as tight as before, rather more firm than anything else. Nephele then brought her palms up to her back and rubbed careful circles into the two pressure points in her shoulder muscle. She had learned very briefly about pressure points before, but she knew the basics for nerves and stress.
The other pressure points were, to Nephele's knowledge, likely ineffective due to her body modifications, other than the hall of impression point between her eyebrows. So she just did what she knew was the best option, doing her best to help her relax. She smiled into the hug.
"I think I would like that very much. You're the first person that hasn't used me for their own personal gain and it's such a foreign feeling. I don't quite know how to react to everything happening right now, but I do mean what I said when I said I'd like to be by your side for a while longer." Nephele stayed silent for a bit longer after that, and then a soft: "What are you thinking?"

The relief was intense. C'Leena hadn't realized she was holding her breath until she released it in a breathy laugh. Her body slumped forward a bit, a smile on her face as she nods, more to herself than anything else. Her heart was pounding like it was trying to escape her chest by beating a hole through her ribcage.
She leans into the hug, wrapping her in her own arms. It takes a second for her to get the pressure right, aiming for a similar gentle firmness. When Nephele starts rubbing at her shoulders, it also dawns on her that she is incredibly wound up from stress. Her muscles are tight and allowing little give to the pressure. However, in her embrace and her working of Pressure points, she relaxes quickly enough. At some point, C'Leenas head had sunk into Nepheles shoulder.
"What am I thinking? A lot of things, honestly," she says truthfully. Her mind has been calmer, but still racing through various subjects surrounding Nephele and her as if it were a Grand Prix racetrack. There has been a passive thought, however, that has been a near constant with each train of thought. "Primarily that you're fucking precious. Secondarily, I'm fairly sure this development means I can do this again," C'Leena turns her head briefly and gives a quick kiss on her cheek before turning back, softly chuckling to herself.
Her use of pressure points had startled her. Sure, they're not a new discovery by any means back home, but it required a profound understanding of the nervous system. She'll ask about that later, now isn't the time to figure out the medical advancements in this world. C'Leena was content to sit and simply hold and be held.
"It sounds rough, what you've been through. I'm always here if you need me to lend an ear, m'kay?" She says softly. Even softer, however, was the Thank You that escaped C'Leenas lips. So soft to where her own heartbeat and mechanical whir of her lung threatened to drown it out.

Nephele sighed through her nose, the weight finally lifting from her chest that had been plaguing her all evening. She was glad that the feelings were mutual, and above all that C'Leena seemed so much more relaxed. She never imagined being a comfort to anyone, so this was simultaneously confusing and really, really nice.
Her brain seemed to do a manual reset as soon as she received a kiss on the cheek though, and it took her about ten seconds to respond. "I-I suppose it does." That was about all Nephele could muster verbally before her voice cracked again.
Not wanting to be teased for it, she stopped her ministrations to C'Leena's back and carefully cupped her face in her hands, giving her a gentle kiss to the forehead. It lasted maybe two, three seconds, but Nephele hoped that all of her affection was conveyed into it properly. It was the clearest response to C'Leena's thank you that she could muster.
She then sat back, putting weight into her arms as she relaxed a little, not taking her eyes off of C'Leena. "Do you feel up to taking a walk? Or would you like to work on whatever research thing you were doing earlier? I'm alright with anything so long as we get going by morning."
Nephele was a simple being: if she had the energy, she used it all up in one sitting. Any way of spending this energy was fine by her, especially now with C'Leena with her she was fine doing other passive activities. In short, so long as she was able to be active, Nephele was satisfied.
Considering the state of C'Leena though, all of two hours in her arsenal, she was alright with fighting her persistent instinct. Nephele knew enough that eight hours was the minimum amount for an average human adult, but pointing it out seemed counterproductive. Besides, C'Leena's body modifications may have had an affect on how much energy she needed to function. Or at least, that was what Nephele was telling herself so she wouldn't have to force C'Leena to return to bed.

C'Leena was, much like Nephele, a simple being, despite her complexity at first glance. It never took a lot to keep her happy because of her upbringing. In recent years, she's found a great deal of enjoyment from physical exercise. Sure, what she can do is rather restricted, but she still enjoys it.
Hearing an invite to simply walk with Nephele? That's huge. Getting a kiss back how she did? That was adorable and made her week easily. Her smile widens.
"I'd love to take a walk with you. Give me a moment to get my boots on and we'll get going. Are you wanting to head anywhere in particular, or we just wandering?" She asks, standing up and grabbing her boots and socks by the door. She speaks while she puts them on. "You're the wanderer, here, so I'm keen to follow your lead."
C'Leena finishes getting her boots on and stands. She turns toward the still-sitting Nephele and offers her a gentle hand up. "I may have some things I need to work on, but I reckon I can spare the time with you. You're free to take my coat if you'd like," she gestures to her coat hanging off a hook on the wall. She idly scratches at forearm before looking down at where she was scratching and shaking her head, lightly tsk'ing.
C'Leena still needs to find a piano soon. It's been years since she last played. That's next on the To-Do List.

Nephele was almost remiss with elation when C'Leena agreed, almost physically brightening. She had to admit that so much sitting was driving her a little nuts, C'Leena's presence quelling it slightly. Her legs were itching to walk, run, climb, something and doing it with someone she cared about? She felt like the luckiest person in the realm.
"Ah, well, we can't really walk too far. I believe if I start you may have to stop me from wandering off." Despite saying this, Nephele immediately followed up with a long winded, excited ramble, evidently growing more excitable as she spoke: "But being as it's so late right now and there's probably not too much to do at night, we could walk...east. Or west, back toward the Sunset Plains! Ah, but if we go too far that way we could wind up in the Marsh Flats again, I'd hate for that to happen again. Those trolls were particularly unsettling, nearly broke my wrist fending them off."
By this point, Nephele had taken C'Leena's hand to stand, but her mind and mouth was already running a mile a minute. As she continued, her ramble slowly devolved into the quietest, most soft-spoken rant ever as she walked to the door, opening it.
"I heard of a place called the Nomads Stone from the same cartographer in the Moonglades. Said it was large enough that I could. Again though, didn't really trust that malakas as far as I could throw him. Which admittedly, probably isn't very far. I wonder if that's what the saying is for? I wouldn't know. He was quite rude, tried selling me his maps for an obscene amount of chrímata. Close to a grand each, the little--"
Nephele abruptly stopped, and in doing so she realized just how much she'd been talking. She even slipped into Greek for a split second, her voice morphing and ebbing to her quiet chaos. Flustered, Nephele laughed awkwardly, holding onto the doorknob. "Um. You know what, nevermind. Sorry. We should just, um, go."
Nephele supposed she shouldn't be too remiss; she hadn't ranted that long and that passionately in a while, even if it barely looked it. It simply meant she was comfortable...perhaps too comfortable.

Nephele going on her tangent really shows how much she's a nomad. C'Leena found it adorable, and didn't stop her. Moving to the door, and hearing her have to stop herself made C'Leena smile just a little wider.
"I don't mind your rants. Things like this tell me more about who you are, and I'll never turn down an opportunity to do so." She says, smiling a bright smile at Nephele as she opens the door. Still holding her hand, the duo make their way through the building and outside.
The night sky was clear of clouds, showing off the countless stars in the sky. Bands of stars similar to the Milky Way stretched across the sky, the subtle color changes between the stars and distant nebulas absolutely awe C'Leena.
The streets are dark and empty, everyone having gone home and most likely to sleep by now. The sound of Nephele and C'Leenas footsteps are one of the few sounds, only birdcalls and the wind occupying them.
Since arriving here, the sky has been either covered by trees, covered by buildings or cloudy. Until now, she hadn't seen the clear night sky, and it was painfully obvious. C'Leena was looking up, mouth agape with a small gasp. Back home, light pollution never allowed more than a dozen stars in the sky, so seeing so many was new for her. She didn't even know that many stars were even possible to appear.
"Holy.. I-How are there so many?" she asks, more to herself than anything. She slowly turns around, switching the hand that's holding onto Nephele as she does so, trying to take it all in at once. Theres an intense beauty in seeing something so natural, but unnatural at the same time, such as the night sky with little to no light pollution.
C'Leena looks at Nephele. Specifically, into her eyes. The resemblance is uncanny, and beautiful. A wide smile breaks across her face.
"Now I know where to look when I miss the stars."

The walk was the most comfortable that Nephele had felt in ages. She swung their joined hands back and forth carefreely, staring up and around at everything like a blind person being granted sight for the first time. Nephele was much like a child in a candy store whenever she took her nightly walks, staring at everything that did didn't move like they were paragons of the universe. Unsurprisingly though, Nephele found herself stopping to look at C'Leena's expressions.
She found her stares of awe somehow just as if not more enticing to look at. She marveled in how C'Leena rotated to see it all, much like herself when she discovered something new. Nephele smiled even broader still as she looked up with her, the skies above mirroring her own eyes. The night sky was beautiful, no matter how many times she looked at it. Sometimes she could make out the constellations if she let herself sit and take it all in. From treetops and atop of tall rooves were the best, especially from Eclipse City. Maybe she would take C'Leena there one day, if she thought they were so pretty just from the ground.
Nephele tilted her head with a dopey grin, practically beaming at the cheesy line. Another shooting star zipped through her right eye, something that didn't mirror the sky above. She obviously couldn't tell when this happened, with it only happening once in front of C'Leena.
"Your eyes when you gaze upon them are just as pretty." Nephele responded, though she was still giggling at the silly line. C'Leena seemed to be full of them apparently, the dork. She lifted her unoccupied hand to C'leena's cheek, squeezing there gently. Yup, she's still there. "You should see them in Eclipse City, they're much brighter atop of the old church building there. You can see everything when you lie on your back."

Nephele wasn't wrong. She was full of cheesy lines, and by god she'll use all of them to death. She smiled, cupping the hand against C'Leenas cheek. "Firstly, don't you turn my lines against me, you little shit," she jokes. In reality, it was smooth as hell and it was moments like this that made her glad it was dark, otherwise it would be painfully obvious that it worked a charm. "Second, why don't we put that on our 'To-Do' list? I'd love to see that with you. Now come on, East or West?" She says, beginning to walk again. As they walk, C'Leenas eyes are practically glued to the sky, still floored at the sheer number of stars. Theres even a time where she nearly trips up because she wasn't watching where she was going.
The streets remain dark. The occasional building has smoke billowing out the chimney, some have candles lit, evidenced by the lit up windows. The road remains solid as they reach the northern edge of the town, trails heading east and west are some distance ahead. The roads appear well used, wagons having run grooves into the ground, the grasslands stretching out for miles upon miles.
At some point during a lull in conversation, C'Leena began to hum. A largely unfamiliar song to Nephele, and mostly unfamiliar to C'Leena. She heard the song a number of times before back home, but never knew where it came from, exactly. C'Leenas voice is melodic, hitting the notes as best she can from memory. She seems largely in her own mind as she walks, her movements graceful and practiced.

It takes Nephele close to no time at all to respond.
"West. I fear that if we walk too far the other way I'd want to keep going. This is the furthest I've walked this way and I'm excited to see what else is there but I don't want to rush just yet." This wouldn't be the first time that Nephele left behind things in favor of chasing a rainbow (literally and metaphorically). Somehow she felt embarrassed letting C'Leena know that. "And I will use as many lines as I please. I adore watching you get flustered." She capped off the honest statement with a soft peck to C'Leena's cheek, refocusing on the road ahead.
Nephele had already started to walk in that direction as she spoke, looking around at any and everything including the buildings of Thunderhoof Village with twinkling eyes. They began to walk through the village and towards King's Valley, the road ahead clearing up even more and making the sky even more visible. Hung in the sky directly above them was Cassiopeia, and Nephele smiled a dreamy, nearly sad smile. It was barely seen in the darkness.
While C'leena hummed, Nephele swayed their hands at the same rhythm that she hummed. Her eyes nearly shut as she engrossed herself in the song, unable to tell that C'Leena couldn't remember the entire thing. A song was a song to her, no matter where the person's heart was when they presented it.
Suddenly, a thought occurred to Nephele as they continued walking. She tore her eyes away from the sky. "Do you sing, Cee?"

"West it is, then. That would be.." She takes a second, looking up at the starry sky to orient herself. It takes a solid few seconds for her to figure it out, as she hadn't even touched a compass in her 25 years of life. Her few weeks here have allowed her to pick a few things up, like finding a 'North Star' that is brighter, and a slightly different hue than the rest of the stars. Her eyesight is barely able to pick it up, but she finds it quick enough. "That way! There we go." She seems pleased at this minor accomplishment.
Her mind wanders as she hums. She doesn't think of anything in particular, more like watching her passing thoughts go by, entertaining the upsetting few that actually make some modicum of sense. She misses the dreamy look in Nepheles eyes, and doesn't notice her hands swaying in time to her hum.
Then she is asked if she sings. 2 things surprise her in this moment. Firstly, it's the fact that she completely forgot that she had company, having got lost in her mind that badly, apparently. Second, is the nickname. Her head snaps to Nephele, surprise in her featureless eyes.
"Cee..? So you did call me Cee when I woke up." She says, a kind smile on her face. "I like it," You get the feeling that is an understatement, somehow. "I do want to request something, though. I'm cool with you calling me that, just don't call me Cece, please. When Rose and I were young, she struggled with my first name and resorted to just calling me Cece. It feels uniquely hers, and it would feel like taking something from her if I let you call me that."
"And do I sing? I haven't in a long time. Somewhat relating to my previous topic, Rose used to nag me to sing for her when I was asked to play her a song called 'I'm Still Standing.' No idea what she liked about my singing, though."

Nephele understands C'Leena's sentiment immediately, nodding. She still had so many questions about Rose and C'Leena as individuals, as well as together. Nephele had no siblings growing up, relying entirely on her mother for absolutely everything. She was curious on what it was like to have someone like that.
"Of course. Please let me know when I make you uncomfortable at any time." Nephele thought over her next words, a mix between a humorous scoff and a laugh escaping her. "I find that singing is healthy for stress. Bad singing is a silly construct, which is why I don't like singing competitions. Regardless of how it sounds to an outsider, you should be singing for yourself and your own peace of mind. Rose probably just liked to hear you happy. If I had a sibling I would do the same thing for them."
Nephele sighed deeply, feeling reminiscent. She slowed their swinging hands to a stop as she began to think. "Then again, I don't think I've sung since my mother. I always sang with her, for her, even. I never found a reason to sing for myself after her death, so I suppose I should take my own advice. She had the most beautiful voice, like a siren but less...predatory. My mother was a descendent of nepheids, so it wasn't any big surprise...anyway."
"Would you sing if I asked you to?" She asked, pretending that the incessant memories weren't affecting her. "I find that its especially freeing to sing into the night air."
It was an abrupt question, as if she realized that she was segueing into something else. Out of the corner of her eye, Nephele saw what appeared to be a shiny bug zip through the air, and for once she was grateful for the distraction.

"I appreciate that. Same goes for you, petal," she says, a smile still drawn across her face.
She listens intently to what Nephele has to say. C'Leena believes herself to be a far better listener than a speaker, so she has no complaints. The sudden switch in conversation doesn't escape her, but she feels like there's something there that is to remain unsaid. Until that changes, C'Leena won't pry.
The question mildly surprises her. She felt the conversation would eventually go in this direction, just not quite this soon. This would normally be when her palms start sweating from nervousness, but last she checked, they were still fake. Maybe next time.
"Sing? I dunno, would you sing if I asked you to?" She deflects. She feels she wont be able to escape this one, so she sighs and rubs the back of her neck.
"Uh, jeez, way to put me on the spot," she chuckles and starts searching for an appropriate song. It takes a few minutes for her to think of something.
During this time, Shes not only figured out what to sing, but is stood in her own little headspace, facing down the little gremlin with the word 'Anxiety' plastered on its forehead. With a thought, she punts the little shit into the stratosphere. My gal wants me to fucken sing, I'll fucken sing. You piss right off.
And from silence, she begins. Despite her efforts, nervousness seeps into her voice at the beginning. Her voice, however, sounds beautiful. She hits the notes as she should, she conveys the emotion beautifully.
Quickly after starting, the nervousness ebbs away. There's nobody to judge other than Nephele, and she asked her to sing. The lack of nervousness only enhances her voice, as she extends notes more willingly. It's now that you notice that her accent has vanished. Her voice sounds neutral in terms of accent, which is kind of jarring when Shes had a rather heavy accent before now.
Once she finishes, her anxiety comes back and throws her into a chokehold and came back with friends. Her self-consciousness also comes in like a bull. C'Leenas posture slumps slightly as she quietly begins to panic. Shes not 100% certain that the reasoning is valid, but it's still happening.
For now, she remains silent. Her breathing is faster, and her heartrate decided to skyrocket. She quietly hopes Nephele doesn't notice, but that seems unlikely.

Nephele was absolutely enamored by C'Leena's voice, and if she weren't so consciously shouting at herself to let her finish she would have long tackled her into a spine popping hug. She listened to her song with a grin, broad and toothy as she fought every urge to not jump and dance to the song she spun. Nephele is only seconds away from losing her shit when C'Leena finished her song.
Okay, she had tried not to use the 'l' word too much when it concerned C'Leena; it was far too early in her mind to got to such extremes yet, but there was absolutely no denying that she absolutely loved her voice. Nothing about it was ethereal or mystical, but it was so utterly human and lovely and her that Nephele's mind couldn't seem to comprehend why she was so happy. It was something she only wished she'd asked about sooner, but somehow the wait made it worth it. The poem she recited in the clearing of King's Valley paled, no, completely perished in comparison.
Nephele gave C'Leena maybe half a second to be nervous, before bursting into a high pitched, giddy laughter. It was loud enough that it was startling, probably the loudest sound she'd ever made. She then surged forward to throw her arms around C'Leena's neck, kissing her right on the lips with the biggest smile on her face. For fey, music was something shared between those with immense trust for each other, and the fact that C'Leena trusted her so much with that? Gods above and below, she was fixing to pass the hell out. When Nephele pulled away she was already singing her praises:
"That was beautiful! Oh lovely, why didn't you tell me sooner? Never matter, I'm so happy you trusted me with this, thank you so much!" It took all of her self control not to absolutely bury C'Leena in kisses all over her face. She was practically vibrating with joy, and she leaned back to squish the woman's cheeks, flat palms cold to her warm skin. "I cannot, simply cannot believe you think any less of your voice. That was one of the best gifts you could ever bestow upon me, thank you, my dearest Cee. I'll treasure it forever."
Another kiss was landed to the corner of her mouth, and once again Nephele burst into high-pitched giggles. She wasn't sure how she could bottle memories, but she would if she could.

For the first time in a long, long time, C'Leena has been stunned into silence. Generally, she'd have a retort of some sort, maybe even a deflection, but out of all the reactions she expected, Nepheles reaction was very much not one of them.
She froze, wide eyed at the assault she has become victim to. Her mind has done the equivalent of a blue-screen, and it takes her a few moments to catch back up. Nepheles giggling sounds so raw and authentic that C'Leena can't help but smile. Her nervousness and self-consciousness vanish in the face of the onslaught.
Once she regained her bearings, C'Leena kissed Nephele right back. C'Leenas hand rests on the back of Nephele's neck, and the other on the small of her back. Once she pulls away, she laughs, Nepheles giggles turning contagious. "I didn't know it meant so much to you. Of course I trust you with this." C'Leena has the look on her face that gives you the impression that she would normally have tears running down her cheeks. Her smile is wide and her laughter is raw with emotion.
"I don't think my singing was that good. I can't stand my own singing voice, honestly. But if it means this much to you, you need only ask, Darling."
There was a lot of coincidence recently. Starting with her being dragged here, C'Leena lingering around Thunderhoof Village and celebrating her Anzac Day out in the fields. Nephele being in the right place at the right time and having come up to speak with her. If even one of those things never happened, neither of them would be here. They would have moved along, never to meet.
It's startling how quickly they hit it off, truly. It's incredible how quickly Nephele managed to garner C'Leenas trust, so much so that she told her a huge amount about herself in the first few hours of meeting her. There was simply something about her that sang to C'Leena. Fey or not, C'Leena feels like it's more of a personality thing than anything else, and she's thrilled about that.
A thought teases the back of her mind. Something she'd been thinking about but suppressing, believing it to be too soon to make these sorts of assumptions. However, with how viscerally happy Neph looks and sounds, just from her singing? She lets the thought run rampant through her mind. C'Leena looks into Nepheles eyes, the single largest smile on C'Leenas face, listening to her giggling.
She found The One.
