Robin
Gender: Female
Age: 26
Race: Half Sun Elf/Half Human
Nationality:
Appearance: Robin never grew up. She stands just under four feet tall (though, if anyone asks, she’ll tell you it’s four feet for certain). Her fine, light ginger-red hair is usually cut short and hangs straight down to her chin. She has large hazel-green eyes and small angular features. A splash of freckles that stand out stark against her pale skin dot her cheeks, nose and arms. She has the same lithe, lanky frame as most children around 8 or 9 years old that haven’t quite fully grown into their body yet. She tends to favor muted colored clothing like browns, dark greens, and greys to steer clear of attention as she slinks around people. She most commonly wears an ill-fitting cotton shirt with a dark green vest, an overlarge brown coat with matching work pants, and scuffed but durable boots. She usually wears her hair tucked up in a simple cap in order to disguise as a boy.
Personality: Robin is a very charismatic liar, and likes to put up a front of an innocent, naïve little kid. In reality, she is highly intelligent and strategically-minded. She often exudes a harsh, calculating personality to protect the fact that she’s quite sensitive and trusting – a traits that’s gotten her into too much trouble in her life. She tends to question and suspect everyone around her, but is very protective of those who have earned her trust.
History: Robin’s early childhood was set in the harsh winter lands of the Frost Gale, north of the Pale City in one of the small villages of the Bjorn. When Robin was around 8 years old, her parents noticed that she had stopped growing altogether. After a few years and no changes to her physique, her parents started to ask the elders and chieftains for any information that might help them understand what was happening with Robin, but nobody had any answers. Worried what this might entail for Robin, they decided to leave their lifestyle in search of an answer for why their daughter had stopped aging.
They became travelling merchants, using her mother’s talent in textiles and jewelry-making to help fund their new nomadic lifestyle. Robin enjoyed the travel and even more loved helping her parents make and sell their wares to many different people. Her parents also made it a point to teach Robin not to tell people about her condition – afraid of what trouble that secret could cause for her in the future.
It was around the age of 17 that tragedy struck. While travelling to their next destination, they were caught by bandits. Robin’s parents were killed and Robin was taken by the bandits back to their hideout. Robin was forced to work for the bandits, most often getting used as bait or a distraction for their raids or ambushes. It didn’t take the bandit leader too long to find out Robin’s secret and he was delighted to use her unassuming looks and cunning mind in more nefarious schemes, including conning rich merchants and even some minor nobles. Robin was his favorite tool and the group reveled in their higher earnings, but Robin despised the bandits and her circumstances. She tried many times to escape their clutches and run away to no avail, and every attempt was met with harsh consequences.
It happened to be on one boisterous night after a successful raid that luck happened to grace Robin. Having been shoved in the hideout all day and not a part of the raid, she was far from the minds of the bandits enjoying their victory. Her usually stoic attentive guard had been relieved by a new and much more distractible young man, more intent on the party than on his ward. With heart pounding in her ears, Robin carefully snuck her way through the hideout and out into the dark night. She ran as far and as long as she could, trying to find refuge in the nearest town and the supplies she would need to travel around Charon. Her goal now is to gain strength and independence, travelling Charon in hopes of maybe finding a solution to her condition. But her biggest fear constantly looms in her mind of the bandits finding her again.
