It hadn't been a terribly long amount of time since he had finished what he could have best described as a botched entrance exam into the fighter's guild, but despite fighting two senior members with one of them being Shaa, a displacer beast and a griffon, he felt oddly at ease calling himself a guild member. He owed his loyalty to his knighthood and the Order as they were both his benefactors and his family but in a way he had a connection to the fighters guild that he just couldn't quite put his finger on, and that made him feel oddly at ease somehow. It wasn't long either until he had found himself answering quests and taking jobs that the guild had posted as well, which more or less aligned with his own goals as a Questing Knight of Duros.

It was his newest assignment however that had him at an impasse. Giants were tough and even though he was to be assigned to another more senior member of the Guild for this task, he wondered if they were capable enough to actually see it through. Sure he was strong, he assumed that the senior member he was assigned to was just as strong if not more, but strength didn't always mean everything and that was a lesson he would rather not learn the hard way. Still orders were orders and he was to meet up with his senior at a nearby mountain pass that wormed through the larger jungle of Moonglade. The guild was all but certain that one of the Giant generals and his bodyguard's were setting up camp some where in this part of the jungle, possibly looking to fortify a position for supplies, or as a fall back point. 

Storming a fortified area would be impossible, but if perhaps they were lucky and reached the Giant and his men before they had set up any real structures or base camp then they would be probably alright. The last thing Gabe wanted was to run headfirst into a ballistae or the like, he was tough but he wasn't that TOUGH. 

Making sure he had all he needed on him for this mission, he proceeded towards the rendezvous point that he had been instructed to meet his senior at. With his new shield separated and strapped to both arms for now, he probably looked like some weird armored brawler type, which hopefully wouldn't be too off putting to whomever he was supposed to meet. To add to his ensemble and ensure that the other guild member knew he was an ally he wore a red traveling cloak as he went about the winding jungle path towards the base of the small mountain they were to investigate.

The tiefling had been waiting for a little over a half hour for Gabriel to arrive. He wasn't expecting the fighter to arrive sooner, he just preferred to arrive early rather than late. He's passed the time by writing in a notebook while sitting atop a sizeable boulder jutting out of the ground. It wasn't the most comfortable place to sit and write, but it was serviceable for a short while. 

He looks up as Gabriel approaches. He didn't know a lot about the man as he didn't have much time to do any digging into this history before being assigned to this mission with him. He knew a little though, mostly that he had familial ties to the Knights of Duros. Admittedly, this knowledge was a little concerning to the tiefling. While he had no bad blood with the Knights of Duros and he hasn't done many high profile crimes as of late, a knight order was still a knight order, dedicated to keeping the peace and carrying out the will of the Crown, whatever that may be. 

"To stabilize and represent the High King's authority over the Marsh Flats, King's Valley and Zeinav Desert regions of Charon."

One of the Knights of Duros' many tenants. No doubt a member of the knight order would be aware of those working within the Ash Lands due to falling under the umbrella of control of the Zeinav Initiative headed by Count Mallock and the Sultan himself.

"To be a deterrent against the darkness and wild nature of the world."

Another tenant that clearly put them at odds with the dark and wild city of Darkveil. If it wasn't for being on an official mission for the Fighter's Guild, their first encounter with one another could have well turned bloody. Hell, it still very well could. 

Zarius snaps his books shut and cleans the tip of his quill in a bottle of green ooze before rising to his feet atop the boulder. Despite the connections the man before him had, the tiefling would treat him the same as any other, with a friendly smile and a cautious eye. 

"Gabriel Duros, I presume?"

He eyes the man cautiously. As someone accepted into the Fighter's Guild, this man had already proved he had combat prowess. Judging by appearance alone, he's armored and boasting a strange set of shields. Curiously though, he has no weapons. Odd. But Zarius mainly relies on his fists so it wasn't unreasonable to assume Gabriel could fight in a similar fashion. Though he can't imagine that Gabriel is all that fast or quiet while being weighed down with all that armor.

"Pleasure to meet you, my name is Zarius."
