After a trip to Sky Peak Village to meet with Count Thadda, Mizzi Bells, the leader of Stormgale Village, decides that she needs an escort home. While she could very well navigate the Lightning Fields on her own, traveling alone, even in times of peace, are better left for the very brave or very stupid. Mizzi is brave, but not stupid. She's seen her fair share of fights, but with the Storm Raiders not keeping to their own business, better to be safe than sorry. An easy choice of escort for Mizzi is one Miss Astrid Stormstone. The half-dwarf dignitary has some gusto, and in all honesty, the gnomish leader of neighboring Stormgale wouldn't mind seeing her in action. So to Mizzi, Count Thadda recommends her and Wolfe, but with Wolfe not available, he instead recommends someone who's recently swept into town and is looking for work, Miss Amelia Ashfury. He sends for her, and in the meantime, Astrid and Mizzi wait outside of town hall chatting up a storm. Astrid herself is quite a bit taller than the gnome, standing as tall as most fully grown dwarves despite her young age. She's well-armed and armored as well with two heavy hammers on her person. One battle hammer is looped on her belt, and the much larger war hammer sits beside her on the ground, though it's oddly difficult to see with an icy enchantment making the weapon translucent. Gnawing on a piece of wood he found on the ground is a horned black hound with a red glow emanating from his chest. The loyal hound sits beside Astrid while his master and her companion chat and wait for their third.

Amelia hurried after the person who had been sent for her, her short dwarf legs hurrying after the the person. She was slightly out of breath, for they were a bit hurried for some reason. She hadn't been told many details yet, just that she was in need to assist as an escort. That had told her enough, though, and she had quickly hopped out of her room at the inn and left with the stranger. Now that she thought about it, maybe she should have asked more questions. But oh well, too late for that now, she'd fight if it was needed. She hoped it wasn't, of course, but one could never be sure.
They arrived at the town hall a little late, stopping a little bit away from the 2 people sitting outside. One was taller than the other, standing a good amount taller than the other. The taller one seemed to be well equipped with weapons, and the other seemed... Not. There also was a menacing looking hound sitting next to the tall one, its chest glowing red and horns protruding from its head. Interesting.
She approached the people, seemingly deep into a conversation and not noticing her at first, or the person who brought her for that matter. She waited nearby before calling their attention. "Hello? I've been brought here for an escort job, I assume you are the ones who hired me?" She asked, moving forward towards them. Amelia smiled warmly to them, extending a hand to shake as she neared. Didn't hurt for politeness.

Astrid and Mizzi both halt the conversation abruptly and look to the newcomer with bright smiles. Mizzi is the first to speak.
"If you're Amelia, we sure did," she says, shaking her hand with a smile. Mizzi's grip is firm, practiced; something important to have when dealing with people in power. "Thanks for coming. Ya can never have too many eyes while on the road, ya know? Ah, right, manners. Those are a thing I should have. I'm Mizzi Bells, de facto leader of Stormgale Village in the middle of the Wastes. This here is Miss Astrid Stormstone, local ta Sky Peak." Mizzi leans in and whispers. "Don't let that innocent face fool ya, I bet she'd toss a man off a mountain if she had ta."
When Mizzi steps back, the taller Astrid takes Amelia's hand and shakes it. Compared to Mizzi, her grip is even stronger and quite a bit more energetic. "Nice ta meet ya!" she says with a big, gap-toothed grin. "Lookin' forward ta workin' with ya! Ain't often I get ta work with a dwarf. Most of 'em are too superstitious ta pay a horned halfie any mind." There's no malice in her voice - in fact, she seems like she's making light of it. However, in all Astrid's adventuring, she can't think of a single time she's worked with a dwarven adventurer.

Amelia chuckled as Mizzi said that Astrid would probably throw a man down a cliff should she need to. She drew her hand back after shaking with the others, giving them each a nod. "Great too meet you both!" She grinned, looking at them both. She clapped her hands in front of her, giving off a slightly loud noise. "And yes, I'm Amelia. Glad to be of service, I've been bored out of my mind for a while now!" She let her hands fall to her side after a moment, securing her cloak. Was it just her, or was it gonna rain?
She looked around for a moment, taking in the surroundings. Well, they probably should be going on their way soon, if it was to rain. Raining wasn't her favorite, unlike snow that wouldn't get you all wet, rain definitely would. She spoke up after a little bit of silence. "Well then, shall we be going now?" She asked. She was fairly tired, she had spent majority of yesterday running around. Although she did wish to get to know these two better, she also wished to sleep. They could talk on the way, she didn't think either of them would mind at all.

"Aye, let's go!" Astrid says cheerfully before strutting down the street. The lot of them pile into a wagon that has some camping gear and other goods for the trip, and the driver snaps the reins and they're off. It's a long trek down the mountain, and the mountain air is chilly. Thunder rumbles in the distance, the Dragon's Spine's natural and ever-present drumbeat. Lightning can be seen flashing in the clouds and out in The Lightning Fields below.
"Journey should be uneventful," Mizzi says, looking up at the clouds. She seems much more at home in nature than she does in a stuffy town. "Might rain, but that's nothin' new. Our destination wouldn't be called Stormgale if it didn't get a bit stormy from time to time, eh?"
Astrid giggles. "I've never been ta Stormgale, so I'm excited ta see it!" Looking over at the dwarven woman, she asks, "So what brought ya ta Sky Peak, Miss Amelia? Or are ya a local? Guess I could see it bein' kinda borin' if yer a local, 'specially if yer not up ta too much." With all the work she and Wolfe have been doing, there have been fewer disturbances around town, but she's happy for that. It means home is safe. She pets Spicy Pawsage's head while he continues to gnaw on the same piece of wood, the dull thrum of warm light pulsing within his chest.

Amelia followed, taking long and slow strides. Thankfully, they weren't in a hurry, she didn't feel like nearly running again. She climbed into the wagon, looking at the gear that lay inside. They'd be well equipped, that reassured her that nothing should go wrong and do something really bad. Of course, stuff would probably go wrong, otherwise she wouldn't have been hired! She settled down, and heard the reigns flick. Off they were, then. She watched the distant lighting for a little, waiting for someone to speak. Pretty peaceful out here, a nice break the the town, mind the storms.
"Actually, I'm from Frost Gale, in the mountains. I've just been travelling around, I haven't been up to anything here though. Just been enjoying some break time, but glad to be doing something now." Amelia replied, smiling. "I've also never been to Stormgale, so quite excited to go there as well." She looked around, thinking. "You both mind if I tell some stories from the tavern? They're quite... Well, interesting, too say the least." She laughed a bit, shaking her head slightly. Ah, they were quite interesting, and quite funny. "Like the one time one of our guests replaced all our chairs with nasty little biting creatures! Was one long day to get them out."

“Frost Gale, eh?” Astrid says. “That place is cold. I don’t rightly love it, but I’ve had some fun adventures up there! Me gran an’ I killed a dragon!” If this is true, it’s quite the feat for anyone, let alone a literal child.
“I would say that Stormgale isn’t much to write home about,” Mizzi begins, “but I wouldn’t be living there if that were the case! When ya get there, make sure ta take a trip ta the Steam Springs. Great place for relaxin’.” She leans back against a soft pile of supplies and rests her elbows on them and what Astrid says dawns on her, and the gnome shoots forward. “Wait, a dragon?!” Thadda wasn't kidding when he said this kid's accomplished some stuff.
“Aye! Bit of a punk, if I say so meself,” Astrid says with a laugh. "Frok the Fell Frost, he called himself. He sure did fall!" She lifts her hammer with a bit of a grin.
“Gods…” Mizzi murmurs, sitting back again then looking at Amelia. “And ya said all the chairs were replaced with creatures that bite? What’s all that about? How’d they even manage somethin’ like that?” Mizzi can't imagine sitting in a chair and it jumping to life to try to eat her. That doesn't sound like anything she'd find in the Lightning Fields.

Amelia stared at Astrid for a moment. "A dragon, you say? Quite impressive, I've heard they're not... the friendliest." She shook her head and chuckled, listening to Mizzi's confusion. "And I'll be sure to head there, thanks for the tip." She smiled, looking at the two. She switched her attention to Mizzi, as the gnomes confusion about the nasty biting creatures. "Yeah, mimics. I believe thats what their called, definitely not a fan." She chuckled, grinning.
She looked to Astrid and her large hammer. "Must say, thats a very nice hammer, whats it made of? Seems like ice to me." She nodded to the hammer that Astrid held. "Quite fancy." She added, tilting her head squinting her eyes, looking at it sharply. It was a fancy hammer, a very nice one. Amelia wondered where Astrid had gotten it, didn't look like any ordinary hammer to her.
She leaned back, settling down. Might as well get comfy for the rest of the trip. She crossed her arms, looking at all the gear in the wagon. Good enough to be set for a good time, nothing to worry about. She decided that she could relax, certainly nothing would go wrong, right?
Unluckily for her, that was a poor choice of words.

"Well, if they replaced the chairs, I suppose Mimic is an appropriate name for them," Mizzi says with an amused smirk. When Amelia mentions Astrid's hammer, the half-dwarf's eyes light up. If there's anything she likes talking about, it's hammers and armor. She lifts the war hammer that's almost as tall as she is with relative ease, as if lifting a stick. The moment her hand makes contact with the weapon's haft, arcs of electricity start sparking across its surface. "Oh this? It actually ain't all that fancy!" Astrid says. "Bought it with a bit of money I earned adventurin'. The icy on it though, that's an enchantment of sorts. Ya see, the dragon I fought was a frost dragon, an' his breath struck me weapons, an' they just kinda... stayed icy. The lightnin' is like... from a magic bond I formed with it or somethin'. Honestly, I couldn't explain it if I wanted ta." When she sets it back down, the wagon creaks under its weight. She then pulls her smaller battle hammer out of her belt loop. This one seems to have more heft to it than the much larger hammer for some reason, and it doesn't take on the same electrical crackle as the other. The polished silver surface is covered with a slight rime of frost with a dwarven rune for Frost engraved into the surface. "Now this one, this is me special hammer. The folks who helped me off the streets a few months ago bought it fer me! That was the first time I met me da. Ya see-""INCOMIN'!!" Mizzi's voice suddenly interrupts Astrid as a massive boulder crashes down just beside the wagon, sending a spray of debris in all directions and pelting them with dirt and pebbles. The horse pulling the wagon panics and surges forward just another rock slams into the road behind them. "Ah, shit, the Raiders have the giants with 'em today," Mizzi says with a grimace. Her hand shades her eyes as she looks up at the mountains in the distance.

Amelia grinned. "Mimic was quite the right name, yes indeed." Amelia nodded, intrigued, as Astrid explains the hammers. Quite humble about them, even though they were quite nice. "Well, I certainly like the hammers." She smiled to Astrid, nodding at the hammers.
She listened as Astrid started about the 2nd hammer, her face light and cheery as she started to explain it. Her movements seemed animated as she gestured to the hammer, beginning her explanation. As Astrid spoke, Mizzi yelled.
Amelia jumped, looking around just in time to see a boulder being launched at them. She threw her hands in front of her face as debris flew up in all directions, pelting the trio with dirt and pebbles. She scrambled up quickly as the horse pulling the wagon surged forward, making them just miss another boulder.
She looked to Mizzi as she said that the raiders had the giants with them today. "The raiders have giants!? Oh dear, this is bound to be a long journey." She followed Mizzi's stare, looking at the mountains. "How much farther? Maybe we can just outrun them and do some zigzags or something?" She asked, knowing it was a desperate thing to say. She didn't really wait for a response though.
She sighed, turning as yet another boulder came barreling towards them, overshooting slightly and just missing the top of the wagon. She shook her head with a frown, looking to where a group travelled a bit away from them, the one s who were launching boulders to them.
She cracked her knuckles, looking to Astrid. "Well then, lets give them a fight, shall we?" She extended her hand, pulling Astrid up with a slight grin, tilting her head a bit. "Show em they chose the wrong wagon." She turned to Mizzi and nodded.

Mizzi grips the side of the cart as it rattles from the impact of a nearby boulder. "Well, if it were a short journey, I wouldn't have asked for a bit of support, huh?" she says through a laugh.
"I ain't fought any giants yet," Astrid says, gripping both of her hammers in her hands after Amelia helps her to her feet.
"It's never too late ta learn!" Mizzi laughs. "Show 'em what you're made of, kid. Break a few kneecaps, that'll teach 'em."
"Will do!" Astrid says, grinning at the dwarven woman raring for a fight. From beneath Astrid's cape flapping in the wind, two wings unfurl. Each of them are half-feathered and half-leathery, a strange combination of a bat and bird's wings with the feathers stretching down over the webbed fingers. "How do ya feel about flyin, Amelia? I can carry ya out ta meet 'em. Get up close an' personal, ya know?" The girl grins with the kind of energy that says that despite the chaos, she isn't one bit worried about the situation they're in. Escorting Mizzi by wagon is a formality, and less weight in the wagon means the horse can pull faster.

Amelia chuckled with a sigh "Well, knew that was a far fetched hope." She nodded to Astrid as she asked about flying, also grinning. These raiders must at least be confused, as some people came flying towards them. The thought made Amelia grin wider, imagining the absolute surprise on their face. It'd be priceless, and she wasn't one who usual thought about this. But, these were raiders, they had it coming.
She looked at Mizzi, who didn't seem all that concerned. She obviously trusted them to get her back safe and sound, so that would be exactly what she'd do. "Take out those giants first, I assume?" Amelia asked Astrid, making sure they were on the same page. She awaited confirmation, as another boulder came zooming nearby, but thankfully these giants didn't have very good aim. At least, not currently.
Amelia hoped the giants plan wasn't something along the lines of "lure escorts away and get the wagon", but that seemed a bit too smart for them. She winced as more boulders came hurling towards them, a couple grazing parts of the wagon and making it get all wobbly as it hit close to the bottom of the sturdy wagon.

“Aye, we take out the big guy hurlin’ boulders, an’ if anyone catches up ta the wagon, we’ll come finish ‘em off!” Astrid says, taking cover as more boulders come crashing down. “Let’s go break his ankles!” She grabs Amelia and leaps off the cart, the wind catching her wings and sending them up into the air. A boulder comes flying directly toward them, but before it can hit them, a bolt of lightning strikes down from the sky, shattering it into thousands of tiny chunks.
“Uh oh,” Astrid says. “Won’t be seein’ that again fer a bit.” That bolt of lightning seems to have an affinity for her – it just kind of shows up on its own to defend her once in a while. It’s a weird thing, but she doesn’t question it too much.
Nimbly dodging a few more rocks, Astrid carries Amelia straight up the mountain toward the giant, who finally seems them coming. “Get ready fer a landin’!” she shouts, setting Amelia down before swooping around to the other ankle. She folds her wings and whips out her hammers. “Bring 'im down!” Lightning wreathes Astrid's body and sparks in her eyes, traveling down her war hammer. Time to get messy.

Amelia closed her eyes and winced as the boulder came flying to them, and kept them closed until she was set down near the giant. She reopened her eyes, looking at the giant as it looked down to them. It seemed mildly annoyed, as if they were just some pests. Well, she'd show the giant what 'pests' they could be.
She reared her hand back, having both of her hand and arms suddenly become coated in a thick layer of stone [1]. She grinned, tossing a couple punches to the giants ankles. Bruises were quickly forming, as they do when your punched by a hardy stone hand.
The giant seemed more than mildly annoyed now, ceasing its stone tossing to look at the ones who were assaulting its ankles. Amelia looked up and met its gaze, giving it a friendly wave with her stone hands before punching it again. It picked up one of its legs, the one closest to her, and went for a kick.
Well this was a problem, Amelia decided as she jumped out of the way. In a good way, though, because now it wouldn't focus on Mizzi. She heard the giant give an annoyed yell, as the foot that was still in the air came crashing down at her. She ran out of the way again, nearly getting hit as the foot landed on the ground again.
She frowned, throwing more punches to the giant as its frustration built. Her frustration was increasing as well, because she was throwing plenty of punches to do more damage than just annoy it. And Astrid was doing, well, something. She didn't exactly see the half dwarf as she kept working away at this giant, but she had to be doing something to it.
This was a huge headache.

While Amelia starts punching at the giant’s ankle and drawing its attention away from Mizzi, Astrid looks for any weak points. Well, its head would’ve been a great place to focus, but if she uses her wings too long, she won’t be able to use them later. Better to have an out.
Fully charged with her electromancer powers, Astrid reaches out and touches the giant’s grounded foot. Lightning courses through her and into the giant with the full force of the storms of the Lightning Fields. What would usually cripple and paralyze anyone else she’s fighting…doesn’t. The giant is so large, that a simple zap from her inherent lightning magic wouldn’t take it down, but the charge remains with bits of electricity crackling along its leg. Maybe she can hinder it at least a little!
Taking hold of her war hammer in both hands, Astrid slams the weapon into the already charged leg. This time, the electricity takes hold, and she can see all the muscles in the giant’s leg twitch with paralysis. The giant yells out in pain, unable to move its leg and feeling the effects of Amelia’s beatings on its other. Its knee buckles, and the full weight of the giant comes crashing down onto one knee, leaving its head within striking distance.
“Now!”
Electromancer abilities Storm Lord - being touched deals lightning damage and causes paralysis (usually, but this is a giant) Extended charge - charged enemies take double lightning damage and are paralyzed (2nd time's the charm)
