As the sun dropped toward the horizon, orange and red hues spread across the clouds like a campfire.
Ollie ran through Stargazer Field, keeping his eye on the village that lay between him and the sunset. Evening dew splattered against his bare toes as he ran. The cushion of grass and moisture of dew always felt soothing on his skin, elven feet like his father. He often wondered if he could run better, faster, if he had hooves like his mother. He was still young, so maybe there'd be time for them to come in, like these were his baby feet or something. Was that how it worked?
Now, as he chased the sun to the horizon, he wished he could run faster. More than anything, he wanted to get to Stargazer Village before twilight, to view it from that wonderful overlook he'd heard about--The Looking Glass.
Well, that was his current "want more than anything." It seemed to be something else every few days, but such was the mercurial nature of the Fey. There always seemed to be new wonders, new cravings, new hopes and dreams, in the world beyond Moonveil Forest.
And twilight, that was as good a thing to crave as any. It was in their blood, his mother always said. That yearning for the in-between time, neither day nor night. The very existence of the Fey was an in-between, as they were both person and beast, mortal and immortal, body and spirit. Both... and yet neither.
He skidded to a stop in front of the crystal-blue facade of the inn, just as the sun hit the horizon. He paused to breathe a sigh of relief. He made it.

Though the sunset was rather pretty, nothing could compare to the actual starlight that was the night sky in Stargazer Village. She went through her normal routine of looking for certain astronomical experiments that she was running. There were a couple of hypothesizes that she was trying to find more evidence for. The one she found the most interesting was that of the possibility that the stars were big balls of fire that were so bright that their light got to the planet quicker than anything on this planet. After going through her normal observations, she noticed a young elven boy who seemed to be in a rush to get to the village. She was curious as to why someone would be coming here in such a rush as the stars weren't going anywhere any time soon. Curious enough to immediately abandon her observations, at least for the time being, and go find out what might be happening with the young boy.
She quickly made her way down from her observation deck and began to walk up to the individual with a smile and said
"Good evening, Mr. Man! What's got you in such a rush?"
She couldn't even wait to be directly in front of the boy to start asking her questions so she simply yelled it as she got closer to the boy.

Ollie sighed happily as the indigo curtains of twilight wrapped him in their embrace. He paused briefly to sink into them, feeling an almost maternal comfort, as well as a homesickness for a land he'd never seen. There was also more than a hint of nervousness, anticipating that fathomless inky blackness that would soon come.
As he often did, he imagined he could hear an etheral voice in the twilight, calling out to him from the distance, and getting ever closer...
He blinked as he realized the voice was actually coming from a person. His big blue doe eyes focused on the violet form rushing toward him. A young woman with skin the color of twilight...
He gasped and ran to meet her. "Lady twilight faerie! A good evening to you! The darkness is coming!"
He paused and nodded dramatically. "It's almost here. But tonight... Tonight is special." He leaned in conspiratorially, the tips of his antlers almost touching her face. "I always hide from it. Always. Willow tree or warren, anywhere I don't have to see it." An impish grin spread across his face in mixed nervousness and excitement. "But tonight, I won't."

Perplexed on being called a 'Faerie' for just a split second, Stella realized that the phenomenon of her translucent violet skin allowed her to put two and two together in order to surmise that this elven boy was actually not from around the parts that she was. Of course, she'd heard the term 'Faerie' before, but usually in response to the Feywild. Which, according to all accounts that she'd read up till that point, hadn't been accessible for the past few thousand years, at least. Thus, she concluded that this boy was much more familiar with the Feywild than anything that she would normally be used to.
However, this was a perfect time to probe the subject by going for the very thing that the boy had mentioned in the first place.
Stella leaned in towards the boy, almost indulging in his conspiratorial nature and allowing herself to be a part of the experiment that would be conducted with the boys help. As she leaned in she responded with
"And what, prey tell, are we keeping secret? And from whom? I personally am not aware of those who would be so interested in my work that they would want to keep it a secret from someone who might not be able to hear it. As it does so happen, there is quite a number of astrological events that are happening simultaneously tonight, if you would like to hear about them I would be more than happy to tell you about them."
Though she was interested in figuring out what the boy was talking about, she was also always eager to share her own information with those who were ever curious as she was.

Ollie nodded upward, glancing at the stars ever so briefly. “I’m not sure if they can hear us or not. I never quite figured out what they even are. They just sit there, watching... waiting...”
“Doesn’t matter.” He shook his head as though to clear it. “Thing is, my mom always said that things that scare you don’t seem so scary once you understand them. Like, it’s really the unknown that folk are afraid of. So, I figured I’d do that. I’ve been working up the nerve for a while to actually look at the night sky until I’m not scared of it. So, yesterday I was talking to this owl, and he said if I was going to do it, tonight was the night. He didn’t really explain. You know how birds are.”
Ollie blushed slightly and turned away. “First time I saw it outside the Forest...” He shuddered. “I looked up and it was just... everywhere. It was like... I was afraid I’d fall in, you know? I mean, it’s so... big.” He frowned a moment. “Like, how would I ever get back down...? Would I drown in it...? Can a person even fall up?”
