SHAA’S LABYRINTH
History:
Found deep underground in the Hills of Braddock, at the southern parts of King’s Valley. Shaa’s Labyrinth has a long and sad history with a happy ending. The creator of the Labyrinth is Shaa Rhunn, the Minotaur. Years earlier, when Shaa was only a year old, his clan was slain for parts by a traitor from inside the clan. Being too young for any useful parts, he was sold to the nomad tribes of Kings Valley to be eventually raised as a capable fighter.
As with many of the nomad tribes, intertribal war fell upon them and Shaa’s captors were wiped from history. As only a child and obviously not a real member of the tribe, he was left alive but alone to wander the plains and survive or perish. Shaa had been taught several survival skills as he was expected to provide for himself. Free for the first time but small, he found himself the target of rogue tribes and monsters that roamed the plains.
He eventually found himself in the Hills of Braddock. It was quiet and by the sea. Here Shaa could finally find some peace and enough food to survive. With no friends or family, Shaa spent his time amongst the animals, watching and learning from them. He had noticed how several of them could burrow into the earth for safety and he wondered if he could do the same. Shaa spent years in tunnels and caves, learning how to navigate underground and in the dark, his very eyes growing accustomed to the dim. Here he developed Terramancy skills and how to manipulate and navigate the earth. When he as big enough and skilled enough, he started to dig out a home for himself. A maze of tunnels and rooms where he could be safe.
Shaa would eventually be adopted by some kind Centaurs who helped him hone his fighting and Terramancy as well as providing him a formal education. Unknown to anyone, Shaa would return to his maze, change it, build it our until it had become the functional lair it is today. This sanctuary is the closest thing he has to a home and only open to the rare few with whom Shaa has shared its secret….
Location:
Hills of Braddock, Kings Valley. It is located underground with its entrance a heavily guarded secret. The entrance itself is sealed off by a huge boulder that very few could move.
Size:
A large domain that comes with eight designated rooms connected by twisting tunnels. The tunnels are lighted by torches and a blue green phosphorescent lichen that grow on the walls. Despite being underground, the labyrinth is full of all sorts of living creatures that come and go at will. The dedicated rooms are a living space, an eating space, a sleeping space and five extra rooms to use for your own.
Capacity:
Can be used as a large home for 3 people
Room Descriptions:
Living Room
A large cavern filled with bean bags and fluffy pillows. It features a large stone table in the center. There are crystals hanging from the ceiling and the room is lit through the bioluminescent lichen that covers the wall. The lichen fills the room with a grassy smell and adds oxygen to the labyrinth. Various items from Shaa’s adventures hang prominently on the walls including weapons and several severed limbs.
Eating Space/ Kitchen
A cavern full of natural vents with a large table and 4 chairs surrounding them. There are natural heating vents. One is encased in clay that is used as a ceramic oven. There are other heating vents that are open that can be used for surface cooking. Finally there are several longer vents that lead to the surface. They provide an escape from cooking smoke as a well as breathable air for the Labyrinth as a whole. Off to the side there is a clay pantry that can keep fresh ingredients naturally cold as well as a a cabinet for dry ingredients.
Sleeping Space
Shaa has spent years infusing this room with earth magic. As a result, soft grass and plants grow on the floor of this room even without sunlight. The result gives the room a gentle grass smell and has attracted several small creatures who live there and maintain the room and the soil. When Shaa is home, like the road, he prefers sleeping on the ground and this provides a super comfy space to do it with accompanying ambient noises of the outdoors.
Muffin Bar
Bathroom/ Mud Bath/ Sauna
The second largest room in the labyrinth next only to the storage room, this room is a marvel of natural function that only a Terramancer of Shaa’s skill could possibly manage. The room itself is split into three sections. The first section is the bathroom. Curiously absent from other homes he had seen, Shaa created several large stalls with large seats for comfort. The seats have a hole in them that leads to a very large underground river that feeds to the ocean. That way, anything you want to “ get rid of” flows out quickly. The second and third sections are part of a series of hot springs in this room. The ones in the ground mix with dirt to form a mud bath with healthy minerals for you skin. The steam from higher ones forms a sauna that you can enjoy if you don’t want to get dirty. There are also 2 waterfalls from the river (upstream) that allow you to wash off and get clean.
Game Room
Spare Bedroom
The most “normal” of all the rooms, this room contains two twin beds with comfy pillows and blankets. It also contains a small closet as well as a privacy curtain. The walls are adorned with various art that Shaa has picked up here and there to give it a more homey feel. One painting in particular is his favorite. It is the portrait of a mother kissing a sleeping child. Shaa has no idea who the artist was but, for some reason, it always makes him feel happy.
Storage
One of the most, if not the most, important rooms in the house, the storage room is how the rest of rooms function. It has more pathways that lead to it than any other room in the house as a result. If one ever gets lost, finding the storage room is the best option to get you pointed back in the right direction. It has the pantry for the kitchen, games for the game room, muffin containers for the muffin bar and so much more. The space is large and cavernous but well organized for easy “ get in and out” access. Despite the size, the room is well lit with glowing crystals that light the walls with purple and green sparkles. There are rumors that people have heard something or someone actually lives in the space to keep it organized but Shaa has never confirmed it.
