Dora took off, flying away from the giant snake that came bursting out of the cave like a volcanic eruption. The griffon was fast, able to make some distance before the serpent even turned and saw them in the sky, but it didn't give up on the pursuit so easily. It opened its mouth wide as it followed behind them and a torrent of flames shot out at the griffon and her riders.
Beist held onto Dora for dear life as she twisted and dived, avoiding the flames. He's rode on the griffon before, but never in a situation like this! Only when they were calmly flying from one place to another! It had even been enjoyable then, but this time was like a nightmare. Tears streamed down Beist's face as he screamed in terror and his tail wrapped around Fish as if it too was desperate to just hold onto anything it could.
Suddenly, Beist felt strange again. His skin itched terribly and he looked at his hand to see the skin changing once again, cracking and transforming into blue scales. The fingernails elongated into claws again. He couldn't look at his own face, but he could feel it changing as well along with horns growing from the top of his head again. Was he changing back again already? No, this was something different. His hands didn't look like this and there was no fur. What was happening!?
In front of Fish, a pair of draconic wings grew out of Beist's back and the greenish scales of his tail became blue. Beist transformed into a Dragonkin with an extra pair of arms.
"This potion certainly still needs some work!" Beist couldn't help but forget the situation he was in for a short moment as he observed the effects of his potion, but he was brought straight back to reality again as another torrent of flames shot past them and he began screaming again.

Once they were out of critical threat range of the snake, Fish seemed to calm down. They no longer really felt worried about their safety seeing as their scarf would be able to allow them to float down safely. Fish curiously looked down at the tail, giving it a cautious pat pat of reassurance. Not much else they could do, seemed dangerous to try and sign to the man seeing as he had to keep an eye on flying.
They tilt their head back to see even more changes occuring to Beist. Curious little eyes watch and take mental notes of what was changing to note down in their notebook later. Journaling also looked like an ill-conceived hobby at the current moment.
They don't know much about flying or piloting a griffon, but seeing the gout of flame and the terror of Beist Fish grabbed a tiny handful of feathers and pulled the griffon to bank right. Awkwardly, Fish did their best to help navigate Dora, strafing left and right as the snake gets smaller and smaller in the distance. Fish will take control until Beist calms down, letting them have their freakout at the unexpected changes from the potion.

Dora glanced back as she felt something tugging on her feathers. Beist, even when riding her, had never actually tried steering her. She was a smart girl and had never really needed it. She saw Fish pulling feathers, trying to give her directions. She also saw a Dragonkin where Beist had been and was momentarily confused until she saw his clothing was the same and also, even in such a form, he looked familiar. His eyes were still droopy and his body the same build. He was also clutching onto her neck and screaming with tears streaming down his face. Yup, that was Beist. He never really fit the mold of the big, brave adventurer. Big, yes. Brave, certainly not. She faced forward again and let Fish steer, shifting direction with their tugs and pulls.
The flaming snake roared one last time in defeat as its prey grew too distant for it to pursue anymore. It reversed back into the tunnel, its tail end never actually fully exiting the cave. At a safe distance, the griffon landed on the ground at the foot of the mountain. Beist immediately jumped down, onto safe, solid, nonmoving ground. His legs were too shaky for him to stand, so he dropped to all sixes and took some deep breaths to calm down.
"Th- thank you, Dora! Exce- excellent job!" He managed to stammer from the ground. Dora wasn't surprised in the least.
Beist suddenly felt like he was going to barf, his cheeks inflating as he held a hand over his mouth to try and keep it in, but he couldn't hold back. A geyser of water sprayed from his mouth suddenly as he let out a blast of water breath like a water drake.
"Ugh... That was... unexpected..."

Fish was not fully aware that Dora was simply induldging them and felt very accomplished with their task of driving the griffon. Perhaps Fish would need to get one of these for themselves one day. It seems quite useful. Although the thought of a bird riding a bird is somewhat strange when they really stop to think about it a little bit.
When they do land, Fish hops off with excitement. They look around the surrounding area trying to find new caves or other such places where an elemental might hide. "Where else should we go? Fish imagines there are other type of elementals around here."
They look at the geyser of water with a bit of confusion, tilting their head. Maybe this wasn't the best time to start talking about the next adventure. Another side effect is jotted down into their notes. Fish leans a little closer to look over their partner in alchemy "Side effect of the potion? Perhaps Fish could help."
The kenku hops over to Beist, offering a ginger root. "Chewing these can help with stomach aches according to what Kvasir taught Fish.....Fish doesn't have the supplies to make a calming tonic, but this can help."

"I don't think I can do that again! Not for a while. All that excitement was too much for this old man." Beist sighed, looking at Fish with concern as they were already looking around for another cave and making plans to get some more elemental catalysts. Beist, for one, was done for the day! Maybe even for the week!
Beist clapped his hand to his mouth again, thinking he might spray another jet of water, but this time it was just a small burp. Now that they were fairly safe, he finally had a moment to look at himself. Something he noticed Fish was already doing, the little birdy taking notes on the side effects of Beist's potion and offering him a ginger root.
"Oh. Thank you! That's very kind of you." Beist said as he took the offered root and put it in his mouth. He was a bit touched that Fish would care for him like this. He awkwardly tried to get used to his new draconic-shaped mouth enough to chew the root for a moment. "Don't worry, a calming tonic won't be necessary. I'm fine now. I just needed a moment of not being chased by a giant fire snake!" Beist smiled happily and gave Fish a couple of gentle pats on the head. Fish's morals may have been questionable at times, but they were sincerely interested in alchemy and could be quite considerate. Beist couldn't stop themself from having a soft spot for them. Of course, Beist also had a soft spot for anything he thought was cute, and he thought Fish was adorable. He thought a lot of things were adorable though, including but not limited to, oozes, spiders, griffons, and sandworms. It really wasn't hard to become friends with the beast man.

Fish does seem a little crestfallen, but when Beist mentions being old they tilt their head. Fish's age made it difficult to really gauge others ages as well. Ages were just strange things in general.
The head pats leave Fish equally confused. They stand there a moment blinking, thoughts loading in like a computer trying to work off slow internet. Whatever internet was. They look up to Beist and offer a pat to his knee, the closest thing Fish could reach, mimicking the sentiment.
"Should we go?" They look around seeing things have calmed down and they are out of anything threat range.

Beist smiled at Fish patting him on the knee. With a nod of agreement, he got back to his feet and brushed himself off, his lower pair of arms still holding his oversized clothing up. He adjusted the rope belt, tightening it around his waist.
"Yes, I think it is time to go. I must get back to my other companions. Sorbet can only be trusted to watch Awd and Ned for so long." Beist looked to Dora. "But it's a good thing I brought you, eh? We would have been in quite the trouble without you!"
Beist gave Dora plenty of pats, rubs, and scritches with all of his hands. His reach was much smaller at the moment, but he still gave the griffon as much affection as he could and she turned her neck to let him reach the best spots. When he had finished, he turned back to Fish again, a hand still on Dora's neck.
"Alright, hop on! Who knows how much longer I can take advantage of this potion? We should ride on Dora while we still can! Well, while I still can." Sure, he currently had a pair of wings on his back, but he'd never used them before and flying on a griffon was just so fun when they weren't in mortal peril.
Dora lied down on the ground to allow them both to climb onto her back. With them both aboard, she took off, headed around the mountain and back to where Beist had parked his wagon, where he and Fish had embarked on this mission that had been successfully completed.
