“Aw, you were worried about me?” Ak’ka teased, accepting Lee’s help up back into the boat. Man, he was even a proper knightly gentleman and everything! “I was just takin’ a little swim.” She’d taken longer dives before in frozen lakes up back home in Frostgale while goin’ fishing.
Hell, she’d taken longer dives in the snow before.
She didn’t care all too much about her own injuries - in Ak’ka’s opinion, every scar was another medallion and another story told while drunk in a tavern to anyone who would listen. But she was beginning to learn that not everyone was as tough as her. Or at least they didn’t share the same orcish bloodlust she did, didn’t understand that her scars and tribal tattoos were her pride. Lee was a knight, so he probably felt all obligated and shit to make sure they left quickly now that the rest of the harpies were making a tactical retreat.
She figured this time she’d let him if it made him feel better.
The blizzard that had formed around them dissipated to a light, warm drizzle as Lee brought them back to the mainland, Ak’ka watching for any sign of those chickenshit monsters to make an appearance - but they’d seemed to realize that Lee and Ak’ka wouldn’t make such an easy snack, and didn’t feel like trying their luck again. She laughed, turning to Lee.
“Man, you really are fancy with that halberd thing.” She said. Ak’ka wasn’t the kinda woman who wore her emotions readily on her sleeve, at least not much besides bloodlust and anger, but it was obvious that she was impressed by Lee’s skills. She wouldn’t mind fighting side by side with him again in the future. Maybe then they’d luck out and it would be on solid ground.
… But man, Ein was really onto something with this vacation stuff! Ak’ka was having the time of her life!
She just had to make sure the little lady never found out about this. Ever.

"Wouldn't be much of a knight if I ignored the damsel in distress would I?" He grinned as he pulled her into the boat. Ak'ka is given a moment to settle back in before the boat takes off. For him it just didn't seem like the fight was necessary anymore. Neither of them had many options for ranged fighting. Had they been on land, maybe he could try and toss Ak'ka as far as he could and see if she could grab a couple of them.
"I'll make sure next time we fight, it's on solid ground and against something that can take more than a hit. Then you'll see the benefit of a weapon, may even want to finally take one up yourself." He gave a full-chested laugh. People who lived a life as an adventurer and a warrior on top of that usually had a habit of crossing paths again and again.
It did feel good to fight next to someone with a bit more sense of adventure and looseness. He may not have the same kind of battlefire in his heart that Ak'ka did, but there were many knights he knew that trained to fight just as well as him only to sit in their keeps and never use it in practice. If the gods were going to bless with skill and ability to fight, then he should use it.
As Leandros spoke with the fishmonger to let him know th problem was solved, he once again turned down any coin and let Ak'ka take that. What the knight would happily take part in was the celebratory feast tonight, you don't get the muscles he has by turning down good food after all.

“Heh. A damsel in distress. That’s a funny one.” But a cute one. He really took this nobility thing seriously, huh? Most knights Ak’ka’d met before kinda dropped the act when it was obvious Ak’ka wasn’t a damsel, she wasn’t in distress, and she wasn’t exactly the picture of a pretty wilting flower.
“I’ll take you up on that.” She liked that he assumed they’d meet again. She was a wanderer most of the time, hadn’t had a home since it was ripped from her. Lee was pretty damn far away from Capitol Landing, which made her think he was a traveler too. They had a good chance of running into each other again in the future.
Once they were back on solid ground, she happily accepted the coin from that fisherman before turning to Lee. “You sure you don’t wanna split it?” He seemed pretty damn sure he didn’t want any of the money, but just as he was practicing chivalry, she figured she’d try her hand at it too. At the very least, they’d both get to take part of the dinner in celebration of the scourge that had been plaguing their island being taken down. “C’mon, man, at the very least, you gotta enjoy some free food. These guys grill a mean cod.”
They were threw the party on the beach just as the sun set, no longer afraid of relaxin’ on the coast now that the big birds had been chased away. Music filtered through the air, the sounds of cheer chasin’ away the silence as they had a damn good time under the moonlight. For once, the locals didn’t seem all that scared of Ak’ka, considerin’ she’d helped them, but they were surprised that she ate enough for two people. They weren’t about to argue with one of their two saviors, though, so she and Lee were given as much food as they wanted.
