The Queen was certainly a magnificent monster, and should the Witch be in any other position, she would have probably chosen to avoid killing it, the same way she avoided the spider's territory back at Moonveil forest. Many times before, she had outright told people how her heart had always a special place for monsters - but she never said whether it was literal monstrous venom-spitting beings, with fangs and claws and hard chitin carapaces; or the metaphorical monsters of society like Gerem, the underdogs and scum, failures and outcasts.
In reality, she didn't discriminate.
Gerem's warning comes a fraction of a second too late, as Poe manages to slice up the giant monster's back leg, with little to no effect: whether the giant spidery creature moved right away or Poe's katana didn't penetrate it's thick armor, the cavefisher didn't seem to notice the small scratch. The assassin, on the other hand, felt a small, warm gush of the monster's acidic blood on her glove, making her step back as the matriarch rushed towards the small target.
It all happens so fast! One would think its massive body would make for a slower beast, but that was far from true - at least on her own territory, her webbing aiding in her motion and acting like rails upon which she would walk faster, unlike them.
She would've liked to study the composition of thi-
No, focus.
Stealth was not an option anymore, so Kamille ran towards the side of the room, hoping to get better positioned and forcing the monster to choose one target. Sadly, however, it chose Veliky. The air shimmered around her as the Witch gathered her mana, weaving it in strings so condensed that the fabric of reality around it bended and twisted. She chooses to finish it, despite knowing it won't be in time to save Veliky-
Not that she needs to. Kamille offers Veliky a smirk, seeing as the hot bitch promptly releases herself from her webbing in a burst of light, causing the matriarch to fall on its back at the same time. The monster writhed and squirmed, getting more and more enveloped by its own web.
What could be more tragic than a predator falling prey to its own devices of survival?
“Poe! Give me an entry point!"
While it could be a weird request, apparently Poe knew exactly what to do. Still possessed by that abnormal speed granted by the potion, Poe promptly skirts around the fallen monster, quickly finding a set of limbs she could hop on and hoist herself up to the exposed abdomen of the beast. Electricity cracked at Kamille's fingertips, as she masterfully switched the element of her spell [1], all the while Poe precariously jumped on top of the beast.
With all her might, Poe stuck her katana through the monster's abdomen, cutting through its hard, natural armor. The matriarch screeched, a deafening sound that had the strings of web vibrate accordingly, as the assassin rolled off of her, landing by its side with a muffled thump. The katana remained stuck on her abdomen and Poe didn't seem to miss it as much, running away from it as quick as she could once she recovered her footing. The sword may have felt like a bit more than a splinter to the giant beast, but it was clearly not the intention of the attack to be fatal.
The air was still vibrating - not from the screeching creature, but from the heaviness of Kamille's impending spell, a conversion of mana so intense it seemed to suck all the air from their lungs... before she released it.
A flash! And then a CRAAAAAAAACK!
A blinding flash, followed by a second delayed thunderous crack that pressed at her eardrums painfully. The katana dug deep into the monster's flesh made the thunder promptly find its way into the monster's soft interior. Kamille hurled a massive ball of lightning [2] so big it could've taken down several of the smaller cavefishers. The light filled in every corner of the cave, and the thunder could probably be heard throughout every tunnel leading out from that chamber. Hopefully the webbing didn't seem conducive, so the equivalent of a metal rod stuck into the matriarch's chitin armor was what guided the lightning.
The matriarch's spidery legs were still twitching lightly - whether from agonizing spasms or just reminiscent electricity, it was unlikely it would fully recover from that.
