The Red Rogue. A open secret in the right circles, and a figure shrouded in mystery and wonder (or arrogance) for others. I was in on the secret. I'd hoped to be back in Bleak Fort by this time of year, but the months have flown by, and by the time I was getting ready to leave, there were already people gossiping in hushed voices about this year's Red Rogue haul. " I hear someone's found one of the Father's ware houses." Said one of the hooded figures at the meeting where this year's raiders were discussing strategy " It's maybe 3 kilometers southeast of the City, disguised as a shallow cave".
Another person nodded. "I work a quarry in the area- there has been a lot of traffic there- probably in preparation for this year's party".
The organizer thumped the table, stood and nodded, "Sounds legit. We'll scout it out in three days, and hopefully be ready to raid in two weeks".
Two Weeks Later The Winter's Crown festivities would be starting in a few days, so us rouges were out, and I could see that some guards were out too, two of them, disguised as delinquents- or perhaps they were initially delinquents, hired to be guards. Regardless of their original occupation, my job was to go ahead and secure a clear path for Rai and Trevor- who would do the brawn of carrying away goods- as the sneakiest of the group. I approached the duo, while pretending to be a slightly high, redish pink full-blood Tiefling- feathers hidden away with the help of a magic cloak and a clever paint job. I lit my pipe, the smoke drifting lazily. "Yo! Wanna hit?". Once they're close enough, I'll knock them both out. Clean and quiet.

Outside the warehouse sat a small moon elf woman, humming a tune and swinging her legs in almost a childish fashion as her gaze roamed the land beyond the warehouse. She never usually did jobs like this but her father wished for her to do this to strengthen bonds with the nobles and put them in better standings to do as they pleased in the future so of course she did as told.Little did she know, it would be so boring though. She sighed and leaned back looking at the serious killjoys. They were all just so serious and boring waiting for these little red hoods to come bursting in. She hoped at least they would be fun and harder to kill than most of the ilk she faced on her normal missions she was given. "Yeah yeah I know just shut up you guys! I know what I'm doing!" she muttered to herself, speaking to the ghosts of her past that seemed to never let her be or rest. They always whispered her guilt to her and affirmed her fears and worries. But she did her best to shake them off. "Leave me be" she muttered and focused on looking around again

One of the guards turned to face me, was about to get up before his friend held him back. They discussed for a second before both getting up and approaching me. I was starting to get nervous. The next delivery was scheduled to arrive in the next ten minutes and these two needed to be out of the way by then. Luckily, after a few seconds they shrugged and said "Sure." Now that they were both in front of me, I could see what they looked like more properly. The more skeptical one was a deep violent tiefling woman with a double scabbard of daggers hanging casually at his waist. Her guard partner was an androgynous human, with the tassel of a whip subtly peeking out beneath the hem of a long vest. I passed the pipe to the tiefling, before delivering a fist to her friend’s chin, knocking them out. She jumped back and spat out my pipe, drawing and lashing out with her whip in a smooth arc.
“THEY’RE H-”
Her yell for backup was interrupted as her whip twined around my wrist, and I grabbed it and yanked, putting my wings into the motion, and she doubled over. In a fluid motion, I lunged forward and delivered a knee to her gut before knocking her out with a firm chop to the neck.
I dragged them to the side and scanned my surroundings. Another two figures approached- Rai and Trevor coming to initiate the next phase of the plan. In the distance I could see a few moving smidges of brown- the next scheduled delivery. We had maybe ten minutes before they arrived within range of sight proper. Rai and Trevor disguised themselves as the guards- not very well, considering that one of them was a human, and the other one was a woman, where my companions were both tiefling men, but it would suffice, given a little magic and paint. I touched Trevor’s horns, and they disappeared as he changed into the woman’s outer clothes, and Rai into the human’s. Both of their distaste were evident- especially Trevor-but it would only be for a short while. The two got into the guard’s old position, and I sank into the shadows, a few minutes before the goods wagons arrived.

Hearing the cut off sound Eira stood and went to investigate, perking up a bit as it sounded like something interesting and fun was finally taking place. She wandered towards the other entrance and looked around then at the two "What's happening over here friends? Finally something fun?" she questioned and looked around the area hoping to see something
The ghosts of her past whispered in her ears thoughts of lies and nothing happening or her reacting to nothing. She shook her head with a grimace and muttered under her breath "Shut it you guys I can't focus when you do that" she grimaced annoyed as she focused around her again "Can't this thing just get here already? It's been hours and this place is so boring."
"Honestly who even cares?" she huffed in an almost childish manner as she waited to see if the goods wagon was almost here. She at least wanted a break from such a boring job. She was just a gun for hire in this scenario and only cared for the money she and her father would get for her doing such a thing. Her patience however was another. The voices only got louder in the long silences. At least getting to move right now helped some however

The wagons are here. Rather cleverly designed thing they are. With mottled red and gray covers and similarly patterned sides, I wouldn't have been able to spot them unless I knew what to look for. There are three of them, each with a driver, a pair of horses, and a pair of escorts riding in the back. The first driver pulled up, making way for the others before hopping down. " Time to get this show on the road," the middle aged magenta tiefling driver said as she hefted a box and jerked his head towards the hidden entrance. "C'mon, help me out here". So the two 'guards'- Trevor and Rai- boarded the wagon. Then Trevor took the horse's reins, and Rai turned around to sock one of that wagon's the guards in the back of the head, pushing him off the wagon. " Ow! be care-" he yelled, and then stopped in his tracks when he realized who he thought was a clumsy worker knocking him off was actually a thief who'd knocked him off. And they were riding off with his charge at full speed. Rai and the remaining guard trying to wrestle eachother off the moving vehicle. I let a shrill screech out of my flute, disorienting the crews of the remaining two wagons to try and buy my comrades some more time.

Eira, seeing this scene grimaced and ran after the wagon soon grinning at the idea of some fun finally happening in this place as she went, grabbing one of the escorts and pulling them from their horse before hopping on and racing after the rogue wagon, catching up towards it with a smirk. She had been dying for some fun and finally something was interesting again. She moved to get close to the wagon and soon hopped on using her graceful skills to land easily “well well someone is causing some trouble hmmmmm?” She questioned as she walked towards the driver a bit, darkness seeming to shift around her as she went, her eyes glowing a bit.
Without much chance she darted forward and grabbed the others face watching it begin to cause the others face to shrivel and either where she touched as her face was close to the others “I hope you have more friends. I could use some more fun” she remarked with a dangerous look in her eyes before pushing the now weaker driver off the wagon driving it back towards the base keeping an eye out for other rogue wagons hoping for more fun around —————- Corrupting touch

Dang it. There was a third guard. The second the howls stopped for me to take a breath, they darted out from around the bend and attacked Trevor, not giving him time to pull out his saber before he let out a cry of pain. The shout and the slack on the reins surprised the horses , sending them into a frenzy. I grit my teeth as Trevor screamed. There was no way I could get there in time, and the wagon's sudden, jerky movements threw both Rai and his opponent off to where they landed and were subsequently left behind by the wagon's new driver, who was driving back. The only somewhat good thing that had happened within the last 30 seconds was that the fall disarmed his opponent, and so Rai managed to kill subdue his opponent.
Meanwhile, another two escorts pursued the runaway wagon and Rai. Now that the wagon was on it's way back, mostly Rai. I tore my eyes away to tackle plan B: instead of stealing the three wagons, I'd sneak in and steal the shiniest things I could find. The remaining three guards and three drivers had started unloading the two wagons. Crates of dried goods, livestock, and other consumables that would be needed to host the big party and its guests for the time of their stay were carried one by one through masterfully textured doors. The small, expensive, pocketable stuff I was looking to snatch were probably inside already, being used year after year. I heard mimicked vulture cries that signaled Rai's intention to retrieve Trevor and retreat. I sighed, really hoping to not have to use this plan, but it was currently our best shot. Out of all the guards, the one who’d gone after Trevor seemed to be the one who would be the most difficult to fight. They were fast, and seemed to have a very painful magic on hand. So they were the one I had to deal with first.
When the guard pulled up to the cave entrance, I got a better look at them. A moon elf, relatively young, dressed rather masculinely but obviously female from the shape of her face and figure. I under the cover of the shadows, I discarded my dress in favour of the shirt and tunic stuffed into my bag. I then transformed myself in a male moon elf, a little taller than her, gunmetal hair, white skin and indigo eyes. Preparations done in a matter of a few dozen seconds, I revealed myself some ten feet away from her and exploded into sparkles.

Eira rode with a little hum to herself and a grin as she went finally enjoying at least some of the night which had been so woefully uneventful up until this point. It was nice to be doing something she was good at again instead of sitting around and guarding some dumb cargo for random rich assholes. As she arrived back towards the building she looked around the entrance to the cave keeping an eye out for trouble.
She looked towards the sound of footsteps seeing the other with a confused and curious gaze "Eh? who the heck are you? Haven't seen you here before-" she started before the male seemingly exploded into sparkles, which was quite surprising and confusing. She rubbed her eyes from the flash and paused as something came over her and she looked up at the other with a grin running and hugging the other "there you are~ Where have you been for so long?" she asked as her head had gone fuzzy from the spell filling her confusion with false memories. For once her insanity seemed mostly faded and she seemed like most any other girl as she looked up at the other with a look of trust and happiness for the first time in so many years

The young lady ran up to me and gave me a hug. I’ve used this spell before, experimentally on someone who owed me, but it was another thing to see the bloodthirsty mercenary turn into a little lady in love. Outwardly, I hugged her back and pecked her on the forehead like a good boyfriend would, having to tiptoe a little since I wasn’t that much taller than her. I chuckled, pitching my voice lower to imitate a light, but masculine range. "Oh course, you can't be the only one having all the fun, I signed up separately to surprise you."
"Who are you?" demanded one of the guards. Ok time to start making stuff up. I smiled. "Hi, I'm Jared, the guard who was around the bend on the other side" I said, pointing in the vague direction of where I'd hidden the two unconscious guards I'd knocked out upon coming here. He frowned. "Then where were you earlier?", asked, still suspicious, but he let me pick up a box, and everyone got back to work. "Minding my post and admiring my girlfriend's badassery" I replied, and he seemed to let me off the hook as I went inside with the box without problem.
The inside of the warehouse had a high ceiling with rows of shelves that went up twice as high as I was tall. We were told to put the boxes down in a little open area where they were then unpacked, and their contents sorted. I put the box down, then took a breath. I summoned demonic energies to give me strength, and used that and my wings to boost my jumps as I ping-ponged off the shelves to the ceiling, before stopping to assess the reaction.

"I...I'm so glad! I'm happy father assigned you to this as well it's been so annoying by myself especially with the two chattering constantly!" she remarked which to most would have been confusing unless they knew her past and the issues it caused her. She smiled however as she was under the effects of the dazzling aura.
Eira smiled with a proud look at the praise rather happy as she listened to the talking before carrying some things back inside the warehouse pausing as she realized how quiet it was for once. The ghosts werent haunting her and taunting her reminding her of her past. Was this what it was like to be happy? She felt like she should know considering she was with her boyfriend yet it still came as a shock to feel such things after so many years
Eira placed the box down where she was told and looked around thinking some before pausing in surprise at the others reaction "wow....I've never seen you do that before that's amazing!" she cheered smiling brightly with a small little clap. It was a full 180 from her normal demeanor and attitude though it was sure to end when the spell did ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Sanity: Up 40->85 Alignment: Volatile-> Docile

With my sudden disappearance, the guards started to mobilize. Curled up on the ceiling where I had frozen, with my talons sunken into stone, wings wrapped around me in a manner akin to a turtle hidden in its shell, I listened to what was happening around me. The guard watching the unloading area ran to ring a bell, and his watch partner took shots at where I had frozen in place, the air around me turning into cutting blades. The handful that hit me bounced off my crystalline wings, which had crystallized under the influence of the demonic energies I had invoked. Hmm… I thought, trying to distract myself from the way my bones creaked under impact, these guys are either really put together, or are so terrified of their boss that they don’t dare fire anything that could cause property damage. Either way I wouldn’t complain- Getting bruised from some wind blades was much preferable to getting fried or smushed. The barrage ended in a matter of moments and afterwards, I could hear them calling for a search, probably assuming that I had run off somewhere else due to the distinct lack of my corpse hitting the ground. Deeming that they had now moved on, I slowly unfurled myself and swung my feet down, quietly dropping a top a the shelf below, trying to formulate a plan to acquire something worth all this hardship.

Within a few moment's Eira blinked as the spell wore off pausing in confusion. It was soon however replaced with pain and embarrassment as the voices returned whispering and laughing at her causing her to yell before looking towards the bastard who had done this after hearing movement nearby, Her hands glowed with dark energy as she began moving towards them "You...are going to regret messing with me" she glared rushing forward striking towards the other. Unlike the other guards she didn't care if she destroyed anything or not. This went from some boring job to annoyance "You made them laugh at me!" She growled as she continued swiping, a few nicking the other though most were deflected as she wasn't being tactical, she was merely in a rage and her sanity had dropped significantly.
The voices were loud along with the laughing, taunting, mocking, jeering her on, only getting worse as the fight continued on. Tears welled in her eyes of anger and pain though she didnt stop, couldn't stop as she was driven forward, her eyes glowing brightly. She didn't care if she got hurt, she didnt care if she destroyed everything. She was merely focused on the one who caused this ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Sanity: Down 85->25 Alignment: Docile-> Extremely Volitile

Right as I settled into a crouch atop the hardwood shelf, I felt the platform below me shake, and a lot of yelling. Yelling which was apparently directed at me.
"YOU MADE THEM LAUGH AT ME"
…shouldn't that be the least of your concerns? I would probably be more worried about there being a thief. I thought before I peered over the edge to where I thought the voice was coming from, and almost took a purple palm to the face. I subconsciously flinched back to dodge. I'd seen what this purple had done to Trevor- there was no way I was going to touch it. She hoisted herself up, accompanied with the clatter of festive patterned china that probably cost as much as I've made throughout my whole career as both a musician and an adventurer. Okay, so she's clearly not concerned about her charge. Duly noted. I stood, dodging her single-minded barrage of magic infused attacks while also trying to watch out for incoming ranged attacks. By now, we were the focus of everyone within two aisles on each side. I heard the twang of a bow string and leaned left- leaning a little too much as I felt a wave of lightheadedness, and I fell right off of the shelf. My wings snapped open, hands and feet scrabbling at thin air as I tipped over. I let out a deafening screech that resounded in the cavernous warehouse, as my feet found purchase on the shelf board a layer below, and I used that to leverage my jump as I ran away, still screaming my head off. Howls of the Damned (screaming &shreiking) Abbysal Infusion (3) Note: She doesn't notice it yet, but she has little yellow crusty patches where Eira touched her. She's too high on adrenaline... For now.

Eira continued her rage filled pursuit as the voices were preactically screaming in her head “shut up shut up shut up!” She yelled to them though it was confusing and concerning to onlookers. She reached for the other as they jumped before falling to the ground covering her ears at the loud screeching and soon she hit the ground cursing a bit. Soon with her sanity hardly in tact she laid curled on the ground clutching her ears and muttering to the voices to stop and leave her be as her face was streaked with tears. In such a state she seemed to break down and revert to the innocent and broken child she had once been. She seemed fragile, weak, alone and scared. One of the guards ordered another to send word to her father of what had happened knowing if she was damaged they would all be screwed. Luckily most of the items seemed in tact minus the shelf the two had fought on.
Within moments the world spun and soon went dark around her, the voices and everything fading as she welcomed unconsciousness like an old friend for now. With that a guard lifted her and moved her towards a wall where it would be a bit safer until she was picked up and taken home

I was exhausted after zig- zagging and ping-ponging around the warehouse to lose my pursuers, so when I finally did, I hid myself in a wardrobe-esque shelf. Bejeweled clothes made of fine silks and soft cottons hung from hangers suspended from a pole that ran across the shelf, brushed my nose as I stood behind them. I heard a single pair of feet pad by, and a few hangers got shifted around, some not a foot from where I stood.
“Nothing here” a voice called, and promptly afterwards, I punched him in the ear. I muffled his fall and mirrored my retreated comrades’ actions-relieving him of his clothes and donning them myself before shoving him into a random hiding place. I also tweaked my face to resemble the sharp but worn and solid face of the guard I’d knocked out. I reported back to the group, and as the search for me continued, I quietly slipped out.
Several Hours Later
Back at the place we called headquarters, I was incredibly relieved to see both Rai and Trevor safe, though not entirely sound. Both Trevor and I had developed a sort of skin disease- I knew how to treat the itchy, yellow spots of crusty skin, but Trevor would probably end up having that black, wrinkled hand print for the rest of his life. Rai was the one who came closest to actual death though, with many major lacerations, two dislocations and a broken arm. Still, after meeting that crazy moon elf girl, this was probably as good an outcome as I could have imagined. I'd even managed to snag a few nice pieces of jewelry and a box of (our mage says they're probably magic) chocolates as I was running!
