Sophia Aubrey
Gender: Female
Age: 23
Race: Half-Elf (Human/Elf)
Nationality: Thorock
Appearance: A whole 5’ 4” of swarthy olive toned skin, raven black hair tied up in buns or a ponytail revealing long knife type ears, Ms. Aubrey represents an oddity combination of her heritage of a human mother and a wood elf father. A curve here, a sharp angle there, outside observers would say that Ms. Aubrey represents an attractive melding of genes from her parents. The outside observers would also be distracted by those soft sky blue eyes, heart shaped face, and silky hair from the absolute pinnacle of built muscles and scars that are hidden by her clothes. This was a culture that only acknowledged a top dog with the blood of victories staining its muzzle and Ms. Aubrey was top dog.
Personality: Many who interact with Ms. Aubrey would say she is a pleasant young lady, gracious, polite, and diplomatic. These things are true while on land, as soon as she steps onto her ship you won’t find a more foul temper, foul mouthed sailor across the continent. She expects perfection from herself and her crew, anything less than optimal no matter the conditions will see additional training as punishment. This obsession with perfection manifests a laser like focus, an anger with perceived incompetence, and a patience that feels out a moment. There’s at the depths of all this, a simmering rage which Ms. Aubrey taps into when her flight or fight response is activated and it's all fight from there. She does not allow herself to be intimidated, looked down upon, or disrespected. Too much was sacrificed to reach this point for Ms. Aubrey.
History: Born to a pirate captain of a mother known as the Siren and a elven father whose ship fell to the Siren’s song, Ms. Sophia Aubrey spent her formative years in the dog eat dog world of the Aubrey pirate clan in the mountainous fortress of Thorock of Dragon’s Cradle. You fought your siblings for respect, your extended family for your spot in society, and of course you fought as a member of a pirate crew for sustenance, honor, vengeance, and glory. Ms. Aubrey’s first murder was at the age of 8 when her second cousin had stolen her daily ration of water, this earned her a spot on the ship of an uncle, the Seaward Gale. Here she learned through blood and tears what it took to be a pirate sailor, the skills needed to optimize the function of a ship, the fear of being hunted, the terror of hand to hand combat, and the sheer relief of survival.
4 years Ms. Aubrey spent on the Seaward Gale, she had established herself as a fine and capable sailor at the tender age of twelve and her return home from this journey was only met with indifference. There was always more to prove and so Ms. Aubrey left by the end of the week, sailing off on the Petty Revenge, captained by an elder half-sister. Ten long years, ten long years till she built enough experience, wealth, and reputation to reach First Mate, the right hand of the captain. Ten long years which culminated in a decimated crew and a captured ship which became her own after a series of ritual combats to determine who was to captain this new ship. Now her return to Thorock was on her own terms, her own ship, the Surprise, and a mild approval from a mother which prompted Ms. Aubrey to take to the seas again with a bare bones crew who were hungry for their own glory and a captain who heard rumors of an ancient artifact.
