The attack on the caravan had left the group shaken. They had been on thier way to the village when a pack of wild displacer beasts had attacked them out of nowhere. In the middle of nowhere and some hired hands as thier only defense, they are suddenly aided by an unexpected ally. Saved from the beasts, one of the group is now missing…
They had to move fast. Vikram and Shaa examine the bloody trail leading into the jungle. The drag marks were still fresh so they figured the man who has been abducted must have been taken in this direction. Shaa had already managed to injure the beast in their previous encounter so they had a good chance of catching up with him. Being wounded however, may also make it desperate, and a desperate displacer beast could be capable of anything. For all that they knew, the missing caravaner was dead already.
Shaa looked over to the remain caravaners who were still in shock. Ok you guys, you need to hunker down here until we get back. If you see anything, or if the guy comes back STAY HERE. Shaa hauls over some large rocks and logs to form an impromptu barrier around the caravan. No wandering around the forest either. There are plenty of other things other than displacer beasts that would love nothing more than to chew on your bones. The caravaners started to look extremely nervous. Noises could be heard all around them.
You guys will be fine. We will be back as soon as we can. Shaa turns back to Vikram. You ready to do this?

"Always ready" Virkam said, turning to the trail. He whipped out at the jungle brush with gusto, slashing and hacking at the pervasive undergrowth. This cat certainly was a step above the ones he had fought earlier, the matted and broken plants that made up what little trail they followed spoke of quite the chonker. A small scrap of cloth lay steriotypically, snagged against an intrusive tree branch. He grabbed the scrap of bloody cloth, licked it slowly. He rounded the taste around his fuzzy mouth for several seconds, smacking his lips. The stern look of confidence formed, and he pointed.
"This way!" He pointed along the same path they had already been following, begging the question as to why he had tasted the scrap of cloth. Regardless, they continued through the muggy forest. The trail dragged through a small puddle of mud, before dissapearing into nothingness.
"It would appear to have shifted nearby, check around" They poked around the underbrush quite fruitlessly, the beast could have displaced anywhere in the local vicinity, even into the trees and canopy above. As far as could be seen at least by Vikram, the trail had gone cold. Very concerning considering how much blood Cedrick the accountant had already presumably lost.
A dissonant roar echoed out through the jungle from the northeast. He could only hope that was the cat they were tracking and not a new one.

For the love of Ginma, these things are annoying to follow. Shaa agreed with Vikram’s assessment. The noise they heard from the northeast was their best bet. If they lost him now, the only thing to do would be to rifle through his stuff and hope he had caravan insurance.
The two continued in the general direction of the sound, breaking through leaf and brush as they went. As they checked for signs, Shaa notices something on the ground. It’s a bloody shoe, presumably one from the missing man. Next to it were a set of paw prints matching the ones they had been following. Ah ha, haven’t lost them yet. As Shaa continued to examine the site, he spies something else further along. Well, that’s no good. He remarks. Shaa had spotted another set of paw prints, similar to the first. The problem is that these new prints are nearly twice the size of the prints they were following. The first cat was big. Whatever joined up with it, was a monster.
He considered everything that he had seen before. Big group of cats. Unexpected attack. Bigger paws. I think I know what’s happening. Shaa gives Vikram a look of concern. When displacer beasts have a litter, their mama teaches them to hunt as a pack. Doesn’t really matter what they hunt, it’s the coordination that matters. Point is…I think we just beat up a bunch of kids and mom just found out. Shaa took a deep breath. @#$&

"Youre telling me those were the children?" He looked down at the scratches raked across his arm from earlier. Concerning, he had already taken scratches from the apparent child cats. Their pace through the brush quickened with their newfound leads. Crashing through the forest they found themselves barreling into a small clearing in the jungle. It was about 20 feet wide, small bushes scattered throughout and covering the view of the ground. Four displacer beasts stood staring at them, muscles tensed and heads lowered in anticipation of the pair entering the clearing. A small den was burrowed into a large rock on the other side of the clearing, all the cats between them and the den.
"H-Hello? Is someone there" It cut through the tense silence in the odd jungle standoff they found themselves in. It emanated softly from the den behind the creatures. The largest of the cats, presumably the mother looked back at the den and hissed. She looked back at the pair and roared, her numerous children leaping into action and blinking in zigzag patterns towards the fighters.
"Looks like we've found ourselves quite the cat fight. Lets see what merits the Fighters Guild has bestowed upon you Minotaur" Said stoically, catching his breath and readying his blade.

Shaa watches carefully as the displacer beasts blink around the clearing, a plan starts to form. So you are new to the guild and are looking for a demonstration are you? Shaa rubs his chin in thought. Ok, here is the deal. Our “mission” is to rescue the guy from the cave. So here’s what we are going to do. I need you to get in that cave, grab the guy, deal with whatever’s in there and then run for it. I’ll keep these guys “ distracted” Shaa does air quotes with his fingers. So while these guys are “distracted” , that should give you your chance to escape. Ok, now get on my back.
Vikram looks at Shaa a bit disconcerted. It’s all part of the plan, don’t worry about it. Just get on my back. When I say RUN, you just bolt towards the cave and don’t look back. I got these guys. Trust me. They will be much too busy to even think about you. Vikram climbs on Shaa’s back. Shaa points towards the middle of the pack and bull rushes them. With a big leap, Shaa lands in between most of the group. As he lands, he casts Rumbling Tremoes at an exalted level. The ground all around them starts to tremble violently. The big cats are caught off guard. As they blink, they land awkwardly. Re blinking, they end up reappearing in awkward positions. Soon the entire group is blinking around like multi tailed popcorn, slamming into each other in a chaotic mess. After several mid air collisions, Shaa stops the rumbling and drops Vikram to the ground RUN.
As Vikram takes off towards the cave, Shaa rushes over to one of the more concussed beasts and puts it into a headlock and starts punching it repeatedly. The mother beast focuses in on the bludgeoning and ignores Vikrams run to the cave.
Come on big momma. I’m beating on your kid! Watcha going to do about it! The giant cat roars in frustration and then vanishes, leaving the other cats wobbling around. No mam, I got you….I got you….

It was a towering column of POWER and STRENGTH as the two stacked upon the other emanated sheer fortitude in the face of several jungle cats in their own den. The ground splintered and the minotaur, Shaa, gave the signal. Vikram placed a foot on his horn and pushed off, leaping into the air, doing a sick flip. He had to hold on to his turban as he descended, the height of the jump deceivingly elevated. He landed on one knee and on arm, and broke into a sprint towards the cave. At least it was his version of a sprint, the bulky clothing and metal shoes didn't really benefit difficult terrain movement very well, so it turned out more like a concerned waddle. He could hear the sounds of a displacer beasts face caving in behind him as Shaa roared at the big cat, luring it towards him. Vikram reached the despondent caravanner Cedrick the Accountant, he was in pretty rough shape. His ghastly lantern unsheathed to throw some pale light into the shallow cave, he saw the man huddled in a corner. Cool, pale, diaphoretic, pulse was weak and rapid, it seemed as though he was going into shock. Several large gashes lay across his chest, as well as heavily bloodied pants with several inline holes in the fabric, presumably bites leading to his femoral.
Vikram placed a hand on a silver bauble on the left side of his sukh, then moved the hand to the man. A soft glow emanated from the wounds as they knitted closed, starting with the deepest and moving on to even the most insignificant scratches. A bit of colour returned to the man's cheek, as he fell unconscious with the relief from pain.
"Shaa! He was banged up but is now safe."

With his cat hostage still in a headlock, Shaa can tell that some of this brothers and sisters are starting to recover. The most frightening part was that the mother cat seemed to have vanished. But Shaa knew better than that. She was watching from somewhere, waiting for a chance to strike. They probably wouldn’t get a better chance to escape than this.
Suddenly from the side, one of the smaller cats blinks into existence. As he still had the first cat in the headlock, Shaa’s agility is hampered, taking a swipe from the cat in the arm. Owtch dang it! Shaa draws from his core and drains the life energy from the cat hostage. As he does so, the wounds on his arm start to close. Hey, your like my own little cat- tery..cat..that I can pull power…never mind. The attacking cat isn’t done with him yet. To regain mobility, Shaa drops his hostage and prepares for the strike.
As the cat attempts to scratch him again, Shaa grabs his outstretched claw and flips the beast over his head, slamming it on the ground. Dazed, Shaa slams his hoof into the beasts head, knocking it out with the beastial kick. That was two down. Shaa could see at least three others still popping around with no sign of mom.
Shaa calls out to the cave. Run for it, I’ll cover you!

He hoisted the unconscious caravanner over his shoulder, his robes jangling aggressively. Vikram started towards the tree line, jogging boisterously, the tintabulations if his armour minute but noticeable in the face of the brawl in the background. The pair made it almost to the treeline before a large yowl rang out throughout the clearing. He didn't even have a second to react before the hefty displacer momma blink tackled them into the ground. They hit the ground hard, rolling several times, luckily missing a swipe from the Alpha Displacer. With Cedrick coming to a stop nearby, Vikram arrested his roll and flipped to his feet, arming himself with the scimitar. With a powerful stance he enters a trance, and he gives two swift cuts in the air towards the beast. Two slices of spirit energy ripped through the air and made an X on the displacers side, the silvered weapons energy leaving smoking sears where the energy made impact.
The Beast reared in pain, its flank sizzling. It gave a loud roar and blinked forward, jaws wrapped around Cedrick and blinking back towards the treeline. Possibly the worse eventuality.
"Shes got him Shaa! Mommas got Cedrick! Get back here you beast!"

The three remaining beasts continued to blink around but still kept their distance well at least they were starting to learn.
"Shes got him Shaa! Mommas got Cedrick! Get back here you beast!"
For the love of Ginma, we just got him out of the cave!
One of the beasts takes advantage of the distraction and blinks above him. The beast lands on his back and tries to pull him down to the ground. Arghh get off of me you jerk! Shaa runs across the the field with the beast on his back. As the beast struggles, it gets stuck in between Shaa’s horns. The beast tries to extricate itself, it’s tails whipping around, but can’t get loose. With so much struggling, it’s now too weak to blink away. The other two beasts stop blinking and look at the scene incredulously. It now looks like Shaa is wearing a giant displacer beast hat.
The cat roars pathetically as Shaa tries fruitlessly to pull him free. Each attempt seeming to only get him lodged deeper between his horns. I can’t believe this. Cat , you are the worst! Shaa starts to run in a large circle, chasing the remaining cats. As Shaa continues to chase the beasts around, the momma cat bursts back into the clearing. The large cat is so confused she drops Cedrick on the ground.
He looks over the whole scene. Two unconscious cats on the ground. One cat stuck on his head. Two more cats exhausted and panting next to him. And one giant mama with a half chewed caravaner trying to figure out the best way to dice him up. Just fantastic.

He looked over briefly to see the cat weakly wiggling about atop Shaa minotaur's horns. It seemed the minotaur's had a penchant for sticking things on their heads. Vikram was no anthropologist, but he wondered if all minotaur were like this. A crash as the big displacer ran into a tree at the edge of the clearing brought him back into the fight mentally. He raised the sword high in the air, collecting power sent from his celestial patron in his silvered sword. Bringing it down towards the beast its power released, a brilliant white beam of energy from the tip of the scimitar.
It seared into the beasts side, burning flesh and leaving spots in Vikrams eyes. It howled in pain, dropping Cedrick into a bush near the edge of the clearing. The displacer tried several times to blink away from the situation, back towards its cubs, but it could not. It shifted in place, blurring in and out of its own dimensional area trying to move, but the residual energy from the beam prevented it. Fear replaced anger in its eyes as it dashed back towards the center of the trampled bushes, towards its kids, and towards Shaa
"Look out! Its frightened, be wary!"

It was time to change tactics or none of them we’re making it out of the forest alive. Shaa smashed his hands together, forcing the ambient earth energy into his body. He grew and grew until he was a 30 ft tall Minotaur. There was now plenty of room on the Minotaurs head, so Shaa picked up the exhausted displacer beast off of his head and put it gently on the ground. The poor beast tried clawing itself towards the cave, mewling as it dragged itself.
The two remaining free cats tried to scramble away but not before Shaa grabbed them both by the tails. As he did, he tied their tails together into a giant knot. Running in opposite directions, they ended up dragging each other across the clearing. Eventually exhausted, they both collapsed whining to the floor.
It was time to deal with mom. Shaa was surprised to see that the big cat was injured and appeared to be blinking in place. Shaa ripped up a tree and approached the fell creature. Watching the timing, Shaa strikes the big cat in the head, knocking it unconscious. Tossing the tree to the side, Shaa checks on Vikram. How does our cat chew toy look? He asks concerned.

The massive minotaur masculine and muscular, manhandled the mighty mahogany, mashing the mammoth mouser. Vikram stood in awe at the immense display of strength, the poor jungle cats broken and fleeing. Cedrick was out, but breathing. Only minor cuts and bruises from the cat carry, though his shoulder did look spectacularly out of place from the fall and tumble. He placed a knee in the accountants armpit, giving a short tug to place the shoulder back where it should be. A small piece of cloth from his robes made for an impromptu sling and swath, keeping his arm still. Cedrick may be out, but the pain from manipulation would last for a good while. Better to do it now than wait for him to awaken.
Vikram slung him over his shoulder, eyeing the massive minotaur as they made their way back to the caravan.
"So what exactly do you do in the fighters guild? I'm only a recent member as I'm sure you're aware, and honestly I've yet to meet the guild leader. Everyone I ask keeps saying she's unavailable." It was no longer necessary to slash at the undergrowth of the jungle, a combination of the path they already took and the giant stomping all the vegetation assisted traversal significantly.

With the cats out of commission, Shaa releases the earth energy from his body, returning him to his normal albeit still large size. After stretching for a moment, he thinks about Vikram’s question. Well man, you happen to be in luck. I am the acting captain of the fighters guild. Which basically means I am responsible for all you new guys…but I don’t get paid for it…or the credit when you don’t die for stupid reasons. Shaa laughs so hard he snorts. Really I am just keeping things together until Athena gets back, whenever that is. But don’t worry about her, she makes me look like a marshmallow. Shaa gets a look of sadness on his face. He didn’t want to let on that he was worried about the guild master and her extended absence.
But enough about my boring self. I would love to hear what made you join us band of crazies. Shaa and Vikram continued their conversation and soon found themselves approaching the caravan. Well, I don’t like a job half done. I think I should stay with you all until we make it to the city. After all, displacer beasts aren’t the only things out here. Besides, the sooner we get the kitty chew toy some medical attention, the better.
Shaa releases the barriers surrounding the caravan. The displacer beasts from the initial battle were still down so it seemed this would be the time to roll. Shaa looks over at Vikram. We should get going. Are we forgetting anything?

"Well, some half dwarf girl in the market invited me to fight. All of the sudden I left jail with an invite to the guild. Crazy times were living in." They came to the caravan with the still napping displacer beasts. Vikram loaded Cedrick carefully into the wagon he roused momentarily with the jostle of movement, letting out a soft groan. Unfortunately several handfuls of ball bearings fell out when he opened the bed of the carriage, leading to several seconds of a metallic waterfall spilling out over the overgrown path.
The caravaneers all gathered their supplies and strapped their carriages, loading up and preparing to continue their journey, new caravan guard in tow.
"We certainly appreciate your escort, Shaa of the Fighters Guild. Your assistance was invaluable. Hopefully we didnt forget anything, though I wouldnt put it past an old man like me." He offered a hearty smile to the minotaur, and signaled the leader that they were ready to get back on the road.
