Community Guidelines of Charon
Tales of Charon is a freeform casual roleplay site where players can create their characters and tell stories collaboratively. We strive to promote a safe, fun, and stress-free environment where people can come after a long day to tell a story. To keep a friendly and safe environment for our community and volunteer staff, there are a few rules in place that govern both the in-character and out-of-character aspects of Charon.
The Community Guidelines and Roleplaying Guide can be found below. These guidelines must be respected and followed by all community participants at all times.

No Disrespectful Behavior
We promote and take pride in having a welcoming and safe environment for all players and staff. No matter your personality, roleplay experience, or background, we want everyone to be able to come here and relax. Because of this, we will not tolerate disrespectful or rude behavior either on-site or in Discord. When you are communicating with someone, regardless of the topic, you must maintain a calm and respectful attitude. If you find yourself not agreeing or not getting along with someone, then it is best to avoid that situation. If you find the situation is escalating, please reach out to staff.
Respect Staff
We have a kind, hard-working staff team that puts the site and our members above all else. They work to no end cultivating and creating a roleplay experience like no other. We ask that you show every member of our staff the utmost respect. This includes listening to them when they are giving instructions or directions, adhering to any rules they give, and not arguing with them when a judgment is made. Failure to respect staff can end in an immediate ban.
No Spamming or Double Posting
This is a collaborative roleplay site where everyone gets the chance to tell their story. There is no spamming allowed, meaning just posting random or distracting messages for the sake of disrupting things. We also do not allow double posting, solo posting, or bumping of topics. All of our members have lives and we don't want our site to be the source of someone else's stress. When it comes to writing or waiting for replies, please be respectful of everyone's time and be patient.
No Advertising
There is no advertising of any other roleplay site outside of our advertising section. This means no private messaging, spamming links in chats, or nagging other members. If you have a site of your own, please post it in the advertising section or speak to staff if you wish to partner.
Fighting and Arguments
We want to keep a friendly and peaceful environment, so we do not allow people to argue or fight with each other. We understand that certain topics can be touchy, and we ask that you avoid starting conversations that could upset or anger others. These include things like religion and politics. If you do have conversations, the moment things get heated or someone says to stop, the conversation instantly end. If you do find yourself in a disagreement please reach out to a member of staff to help settle the issue.
Separate Accounts
We do allow you to have multiple characters, however, each character must have its own profile on the forum tied back to a single main account/email address. We do not allow users to have multiple accounts linked to multiple email addresses. Using alternative accounts or pretending to be different people out of character goes against our community guidelines and will result in warnings, kicks, and possible bans from our community.
Multiple Characters
As stated above, you are allowed to have as many characters as you would like. However, we do ask that you only make as many as you can keep up with. Burnout is real and we do not want our members getting overwhelmed with way too many characters.
Characters that belong to the same member are not allowed to roleplay with each other and cannot interact with each other. We want to promote roleplaying with other members and not just solo storytelling.

PG-13 Content
We understand that PG-13 is a very broad and inconsistent standard to define what subject matter is appropriate to discuss either in-character or out-of-character. We also acknowledge that our players come from vastly different cultures, home life, and life experiences that shape their sense of humor and perception of various topics. That said, we want to keep our community safe for people regardless of their real-life spiritual or political beliefs, ethnicity, financial situation, gender or sexual identity, age, and personal history.
To facilitate this, we ask that all conversations, in-character or out-of-character, are kept safe for work and that dark humor is used with extreme discretion. We also ask that if someone states that they are uncomfortable with the subject matter in a conversation, that the conversation ends immediately.

Combat and Killing
While we encourage combat and fights to occur in character, we also ask that everyone respect each other and the direction they have for their character. Do not force combat on someone who has made it vocal that they do not wish to fight. If combat does take place, work together to solve all issues or concerns that may arise in the fight.
Killing another character is strictly forbidden in all parts of the site unless the owner of that character has permitted you. Death-enabled fights will not be allowed and if someone does not want their character to die, then they won't.
Warnings, Kicks, and Bans
The staff team reserves the right to judge if any actions in or out of character on the forum or Discord violate our community guidelines. We acknowledge that people make honest mistakes, but in the cases where behavior is repetitively disruptive or potentially dangerous to our community, staff may deem it necessary to issue warnings, kicks, or even ban users.
While situations will be judged on a case-by-case basis, it is ultimately our goal to make a fair decision that maintains the safety of the community. We aim to make the consequences of violating community guidelines equivalent to the offense, and we try to give users the best chance to correct their behavior and continue to be a part of the community. If there is no evidence that the user plans on changing their behavior or adhering to community guidelines, they may be banned from the community.
Trolling and dangerous behavior (ie. racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, gaslighting, emotional manipulation, grooming, doxing, etc.) will not be tolerated. Users are encouraged to report any malicious behavior to staff.
