Ragged, pained breaths would echo in one of the waiting rooms located in Grand Chancellor Lao's Office as the old soul woke to from a harrowing nightmare whose contents were fast slipping away from her waking consciousness. It was a rare incidence for Ambika to be haunted by an unpleasant dream; the former assassin had a dreamcatcher specializing in warding off nightmares on her at all times - a gift from her now fallen partner to help her regain her nightly respite. That the subconscious horrors her mind conjured would pierce through the veil and reach her shrieked of ill omens coming her way, and an accidental twitch of her forearm muscle would result in a blade engraved with a Delphinium shooting out[1] from under her left sleeve. Her eyes immediately darted around in response, and a sigh of relief would escape her lips when she found no prying eyes. The old soul noticed her muscles trembling all over, refusing to stay still. It was a paranoiac vice of hers that she hoped she had escaped, but alas, it seemed that her unholy instincts would refuse her such niceties and demand their deadly tribute. So it was that she would find herself coating her trusty companion of days past with an old poison[2], one that never saw fit to dilute and wane despite the passage of time. Once the sordid ritual was over, she would retract her friend once more, remove herself from her seat and peer outside the curtains. The sunset was upon them, and as if on cue, knocks would echo from the door for a short moment before it was opened up without hesitation. "The Bugyō has summoned you." A guard's voice echoed from the direction of the door. Ambika turned around, nodded, and followed the guard back to Ishimori's office once more. There, she should find Baird already there, or perhaps on his way in. Either way, the briefing would only start in earnest once they were joined with four more: a pair of hunters and a pair of knights. "One of our Tithe shipments will be leaving Hano Port for the mainland tonight. We have reason to believe the Oniwanban will enact their plan then, which is why we have gathered you here." Ishimori began. "You are to stay on high alert and be vigilant throughout nightfall. It is why we have allowed you to rest earlier. Any questions?" "Do the Oniwanban intend on hijacking the Tithe shipment?" One of the knights asked. "We are currently reshuffling our men and ships as we speak. The Oniwanban should not have enough time to counter that." The Bugyō replied. "What could they be after, then?" Another hunter pondered aloud. "That we do not know." Ambika could feel a momentarily glance of disappointment as Ishimori replied. "Which is why all of you will be assigned to different areas of the port. A defense line that is spread out will allow us to reduce overall casualties."The old soul had nothing to speak of in the briefing. She was a tool - an implement first and foremost, one that shifted and changed based on the ever-shifting winds. So it was that she would remain silent and simply see if her chimeric companion had any questions of their own. Otherwise, they would find themselves on a more secluded part of Hano Port - perhaps a sign of distrust shown by the Imperial Garrison.
[1]Desert Stinger The Scarab has a unique weapon at their disposal, a six inch knife or blade that is mounted into a bracer and worn on the forearm. The blade can be retracted by a single flex of the forearm muscle, allowing the scarab to summon or return the blade almost instantly. This makes it the perfect assassination weapon, able to be hidden and concealed until needed. Scarabs often used this weapon to initiate surprise attacks, or keep their hands open and free from weapons. The Scarab is considered Exalted when using this hidden blade and can use sand from Born from the Desert to repair the knife if it breaks or becomes damaged. [2]Scorpion's Venom
The Scarab always carries around a tiny glass vial of modified scorpion's venom which can be applied to weapons or wounds. This poison does nothing at first other then irritation or slight numbness to the area, but with each subsequent blow of an envenomed weapon it grows until it knocks the affected target unconscious. If any enemy is wounded by a weapon with this venom three times, they will fall unconscious, unable to withstand the venom any longer. They will fall unconscious for the entirety of their next post, unable to take any actions. This venom can be removed by Greater Healing or similar strength healing magic. This venom can only coat one item, but that item will remain coated for the rest of the topic. Quest Name: Crimson Skies Participants: Two or more Location: Crescent Isles Post Requirements: 5 posts per person, 200 words per post Reward: Ability to take on Part 3, +1 Renown Description: Lao has asked you to continue your work with finding and rooting out this shadowy presence that has taken hold of Hano City. You have been asked to cooperate with a task force put together by the local Imperial Garrison to watch over the Tithe shipment to the mainland that will be leaving Hano Port. You and your group will be assisted by two hunters and two knights from the Imperial Garrison as you watch over one of the three Tithe ships that will be leaving the Harbor at night.
Sometime after nightfall your group and the Port itself will come under siege as dozens of ships both military and civilian catch fire turning the once dark night crimson with flame. As the confusion mounts your group will be beset upon by a group of Oniwanban agents who were behind the attack. Help the garrison fight off the attackers and defend the port during the raid. On the leader of the group that ambushes you, you can retrieve a note hidden under the wrappings of a kunai, indecipherable for now but important nonetheless.

The furniture of the room was almost unusably tight, as usual. The food was barely enough, as relief was focused on the victims of the attacks. The schedule was strict, to ensure dissidents had little wiggle room to enact schemes. Freedom: limited. Trust: missing. Joy: stunted. No friends, no cultural exchange, no privacy. Only training, only the job, only duty. This has been and will continue to be the chimera's life for weeks. The elephant missed when it wasn't a part of the circus. But everyone on the Chancellor's side had a good reason to accept this struggle, even if some cared about it less than personal reasons or pay. The common people were being caught in the crossfire of a conflict they didn't ask for, and the side with their best interests had their hands tied by bureaucratic nonsense. The hybrid knew little of the faction war and political machine he had been contracted into, but they despised every bit they learned of. So the elephant huddled in their tent and sharpened their tusks. "Hundun, you are to come with us." Guards, halls, office, seat. The interaction went on with an eerie mirror between Ambika and the boar. Silence. Everything bottled deep. Though for her it was the way of life, the well-traveled means to an end. For Baird it was the total alienation from what he knew of life. Even as the Isles weren't far from the Marsh, this room felt like he wasn't even in Charon anymore. Mors would be the contrast, "This defense line. Do we break off once conflict arises? Are we good to go crack skulls if the Oni don't strike our section?" The only thing he felt was bitterness at another leash. That and the overwhelming shame from working beside someone who knows his near-fatal failure, even if she might not think much about it. The retainer made a face like a visual scoff, "No. Each team is expected to hold the line. If any of the ships are compromised, the boats have signal torches with dedicated watchmen. The guard will be focused in on any signals lit, meanwhile you each will remain at your posts to ensure no rebels slip through. Clear?" At least they are ready in case anyone gets crushed, it seems. Some of this was definitely above the need-to-know basis. Could be seen as either a sign of trust or distrust. Maybe even confidence that anyone present wouldn't be able to disrupt the plan without due consequence. Mors acknowledged, "Yes, sir." Baird would speak, but to Ambika once they were on their way through the streets, "You can already tell I've changed a good bit since last we saw each other. There's, uh.. some ugly things I've learned to do. Funny, coming from me, right? Just know that I haven't changed from the Baird you met crying in front of a game stall, Shanti, not really. I'm sorry if things get scary." He would leave his peace at that. The sun had all but been obfuscated by the passing of hours. The real watch began in the dark. The chimera took a perch halfway up a storehouse wall. Mors scanned the open space cleared around the dock, Baird could only register any motion passing through an alley under his not-so-supervision, and Blithe glared up at the rooftops all around.[1] Time to make the donuts.

' There's, uh... some ugly things I've learned to do.' ' I'm sorry if things get scary.' This loathsome world sure had too many ways to chew away at the best of people and turn them into grotesque amalgamations, didn't they? The old soul was all but certain he spoke of bloody affairs, even if in reality it could just be her grim, gritty worldview slotting in preconceived answers to the queries she would have had and prevent her from wielding unwanted knives at her companion. Everyone had secrets they want to keep, not especially herself. "Do not forget the Baird crying in front of the game stall. No matter how much it might hurt to." It must have came out so inconceivably odd, but the former assassin's voice was genuine. Ambika stood on high ground as was her prerogative in any situation viable for such an option, her eyes seeing true [1] amidst the crawling shadows in the absence of light. Then, suddenly, the earth itself grumbled and trembled as cascading explosions occurred one after another, setting virtually everything flammable in the port ablaze and cutting off routes to other areas. The lower grounds would turn into a sea of hot colours interspersed with the myriad greys of ashes and smoke, and Ambika's view would be quickly swallowed by the thickest of hazy blacks [2], an instinctive flinch sparing her a quick death delivered with the velocity of a gunpowder shot [3], managing only to break the clip on the back of her head holding part of her hair up in twain. "Curious. Curious indeed. You intrigue me, old bard." An unnatural voice [4] echoed in the air, changing in pitch and tone at every sentence to prevent discernment of their identity. "The reason escapes me though. No matter. I shall play with you while my apprentices deal with that chimeric companion of yours. You harmed Kaito, and that blasphemous blast did a good number on Jin. You two simply must let us repay this doubly, no, triply." Ambika had been inching towards the end of the rooftop while the entire expository dialogue was going on, but a undulating tendril would see to it that she does not leave, smacking her in the back and sending her flying inwards once again [5], though her instincts would allow her to recover without losing momentum. [6]"Uh, uh, uh. Your dance partner is me, old bard. Now show me some moves." Whoever it was, it was clear they were a leader figure of some sort. Perhaps that same presence she sensed earlier. Without sight, the old soul could only rely on her senses [7][8] to choose her moves, starting with a shrapnel shot [9]. Drawing blood was her first priority. "Aiming for the legs first. How quaint." No indication of pain would be reflected in the inflections of the voice, but now blood has spilled.[10] [1]Shadow Dancer - One with the Shadows
While inside of a shadow created by you or another object, you can see perfectly, and your vision not hindered by the darkness. [2]Oniwanban Leader (NPC): Oniwanban Shadow - Smoke Field
The Oniwanban have passed down many sacred arts and skills over the centuries but none is as feared as their Smoke Field technique. Once per topic you are able to generate massive amounts of smoke from your body, filling in the area around you with thick obscuring, black smoke. The smoke will remain for three post and can only be blown away by Exalted level wind spells. While in the smoke you can sense the movement and location of anyone else caught within its range. [3]Oniwanban Leader (NPC): Oniwanban Footsoldier - Gun Brace The Oniwanban have used the black powder supplies they steal for another purpose as well, arming their operatives with a brace of two pistols that have an over under double barrel architecture. Each pistol has two shots per topic. The pistols are of solid enough construction that they can be used as clubs or tonfa like weapons as well and the gun itself can be enhanced with enhancements from the Blunt Shop. [4]Oniwanban Leader (NPC): Stealth Skill - Alter Self A unique skill that allows you to alter most aspects of your physical form. This is purely aesthetic and only changes how you look, it does not change how parts of your body function. You can alter things like your voice, the color and design of things like hair, eyes and skin. This skill is perfect for looking like a different person but only effects your biological appearance and will not alter your items or clothing. [5]Oniwanban Leader (NPC): Oniwanban Shadow - Advanced Smoke Arts The Oniwanban has many mystical techniques but none are as feared as their smoke manipulation technique. They can infuse any smoke be it natural or magical with their mana and then freely change its shape and density. For three posts after activating their manipulation technique they can create constructs of shadow that can be a weapon from any of the shops or a piece of armor or shield. These constructs dissipate if affected by wind damage immediately but otherwise function like their normal counterparts. The Oniwanban can also make a tendril of lashing or grabbing smoke from a smoke source that will attempt to smack or grapple any foe near it. This technique lasts for as long as the source it was made out of last, and can be used twice per topic. [6]Stealth Skill - Cats Grace Your reflexes and basic body movement become extremely agile and nimble, allowing you to move around without the fear of falling or tripping over something. As long as you are moving you can not be knocked over or knocked off of something. If you do fall you will take no damage, landing safely on your feet as long as you have fallen less than two hundred feet. (falling off a mountain does not help you) [7]Sharpshooter - Shooters Sense You have spent so much time behind a ranged weapon that you have started to form a sixth sense, able to read your enemies movements and predict the shot, even without being able to see them. You are now able to passively aim at your target, even if your sight is obscured by things like mist, smoke or even the darkness. Vision impairing abilities or effects no longer prevent you from shooting at your enemy. [8]The Hunter - Intuitive Bloodhound Your ability to pick up on context clues or sense that things are out of place have increased. You can feel if there is anything around you that is hidden or cloaked in non magical ways. If a person is attempting to hide, or something you are looking for is disguised, you will get a mental ping of its general location. You will have a basic idea of where anything that is hidden could be found as long as it is not being hidden by magical means. [9]Obsidian Arrow Long, slim pieces of carved deadwood fitted with thin, obsidian arrowheads. These obsidian arrowheads can be used like a normal arrow, but are crafted and fine-tuned to explode upon impact with hard object(s). Shooting an obsidian arrow into any surface as hard, or harder than stone, will cause the arrowhead to explode— sending sharp scatterings of shrapnel and splinters of deadwood into anyone and anything within a 5 foot radius. [10]Blood Scent You are able to smell blood as easy as any other normal smell, regardless of how little the amount is. Once blood has left a body, you are able to pick up on the scent and follow it, making this a useful feature for tracking injured prey or hunting for food. The scent is pleasant to you and non invasive, and can not be turned off or affected by spells. Minor damage to Ambika Minor Wounds 1/3 Major Wounds 0/2

The myriad-man shook from his place along the building wall, forcing him to plummet to the still-rumbling platform below. The fall wasn't very far, but the harsh landing assured a bruise would form on their shoulder. Baird barely registered the soreness through the immense shock and horror flooding his mind. Mors and Blithe were similarly dumbfounded at the incredible feat of violence splattering vivid flame over the water. Smoke choked out the stars. Screams and battle cries wrestled for dominance against the roaring cracks of fresh fuel being consumed from border to border of the city docks. The thought of the people's senseless suffering had brought the boar to the peak of anger. Amidst this reality check, the fellblood terrorists would dash out from the diabolical penumbra created by the flash fire. At first a Footsoldier, [1] the one called 'Doc', closed in with a pair of slashes akin to a mantis' pounce. "Tsu, now!" called Doc. The captain who led the former operation broke off to the side at a medium distance, following up with two gunshots from their pistols aimed at center-mass. The Shadows, [2] Jin and Kaito launched from the paths beside the warehouse and each threw their weapons out: a shuriken whirled high as the sickle swung low. The blitz was beyond anything the menacing terror could expect. The hybrid could do little to mitigate the onslaught. Although Doc's blade was relatively small, it cut clean into the lizard-grem's arms. The smooth bullets similarly left effective impacts, cracking a rib and stopping just short of puncturing a lung. The shuriken spun a slice along Blithe's cheek. The kusarigama hooked onto a shin and threatened to reach the bone as it tripped the beastman onto his knees. Each member closed in with confidence as blood stippled the ground in every direction. Tsu, the captain, came forward with her second barrels cocked, "This is a far cry from what we expected. My master thought so much of you, we were ready for a fight. Looks like all that additional planning was a waste of time. Time to put this pig in a blanket." pig ƃıd ṗïġ ᴩɪɢ PIG PIG Baird was not always able to coast by on his size and strength as a young kid. There was one time that a bunch of the other children of the village came together. They schemed for hours, mostly just deriding how dumb it was that they were tiny gremlings and he got to be so massive in comparison. They thought it wasn't fair that what they felt was an outsider got so much going for him. So they banded together to take down the beastboy. Rocks, rope, tiny spells, and honestly crafty traps. They caught him as he returned from foraging for moss. Quickly capturing the 'monster', he was found tied to a post in front of the elder's hut much later; battered, bruised, crying. He had [PIG] written in dye along his stomach. Took a week to wash out. And thus, he never let anyone get away with calling him pig. Mors and Blithe could feel something white-hot filling their veins. [3] Baird, with tears streaking down his cheeks, snarled with a moment of lividity at Tsu. The chimera's oversized heart pulsed with such ferocity that it distended their chest and could be heard by all present at the ground floor. The bullets were pressed out of their holes, clinking down onto the wooden boards below. Every muscle on the creature engorged, bones creaking as they thickened, the lizard-like spines from beneath their oily fur grew in number and size. Alarmingly, the whole of their body began to grow rapidly. Tsu, seeing the writing on the wall, fired both her pistols again, but it was too late. The bullets would dig punctures into the monster's shoulder to only be pushed back out by a spurt of blood. Blithe would chomp down onto a tiny pouch with the last of his remaining clear thoughts. He had gulped down a pill of vitality. [1] Tsu and Doc took their own. The rest of the Oni cautiously readied for what would come next. Visible concern showed on the old soul's face as she heard the four voices echoing from the port. Four-on-one (well, technically three but they all shared a body so it did not matter the way it should) was an absolutely horrible situation even for someone as hardy as the chimera. Then her senses clocked anger, and not the controlled kind. A kind of rage she knew all too well, though she wished she did not. Was that what Baird meant? Regardless, Ambika felt the need to help him and was considering her options when a serrated sickle [1] struck the right arm she had raised out of pure instinct. "A mere pig is more worthy of your attention than me? I must say, I am deeply offended, old bard." The voice hid no disdain for the unsightly creature who harmed their student. "You truly are a curious one, though. A lesser person would have died had they been distracted like you were. Who are you?" The only response the old soul would give was a forceful yank at the chain connected to the sickle, facilitated with an inhuman strength [2]. The leader, however, had already hurled the weighted end at Ambika as she pulled, preventing the latter from taking advantage of the momentum to launch a counterattack. The former assassin could play at the same game as the Oniwanban leader, but she refused to. That sense of familiarity they were speaking of might be genuine, and she wanted nothing more than to keep the answer a secret. The situation was definitely not in her favour, however. Her opponent could sense everything she would do, and even with the appropriated Kusarigama she doubted there was much she could do. She had to try, though. A 360-degree swing of the weighted end followed by a regular shot from the crossbow [3]... designed to distract from the spinning chained sickle she had also thrown out in the process, returning the injury she had earned. "Interesting, truly. Perhaps I will tell you my name to motivate you better." The sounds of a spinning shuriken [4] would force Ambika to leap away [5] from her assailant's direction, though she will manage to grab the kusarigama chain in the process and barely avoid the tendril by the rooftop edge. "Impressive. My name is Yuno. And I will have yours by the end of today's dance."
[1]Yuno: The Kusarigama (with Serrated enhancement) The Kusarigama is comprised of a Kama or Sickle, and long piece of chain with a weight attached at the other end. You can use this weapon to grapple people or objects and pull them towards you a short distance, as well as attack with the sickle or weighted side at range. [2]Bulls Strength This tattoo increases your normal strength, making you twice as strong as you normally would. This is a latent tattoo that is always in effect, making you permanently strong. This tattoo does not stack with itself or other strength buffing items. [3]Sharpshooter - Quick Draw You now have become incredibly quick and agile with your weapons, allowing you to manipulate and use them faster than others. You now ignore the reload speed of any ranged weapon that uses ammo and can draw a ranged weapon from its resting place in twice the speed, letting you get more shots off or respond to enemies much faster than you normally could. [4]Yuno: The Folding Shuriken (also with Serrated enhancement) The folding Shuriken looks like a large talon like blade attached to a circular ring, with the blade being roughly the size of an adult human forearm and looks very similar to a hoof knife meant for the large stone Oxen found throughout the Crescent isles. The user however can unfold the blade into a four bladed star shaped throwing weapon, making it look like a comically large shuriken. These are typically used with rope or wire to redirect them once thrown and retrieve them easily. [5]Long Stride This spell can only be activated and used by the owner of the spell, only affecting their own person. The next time the owner would jump, they can instead jump three times their normal distance. This allows them to jump over gaps or obstacles, or even scale high walls. This spell only effects the next jump and must be used again to gain the effect an additional time. Ambika: Minor Wounds 2/3 Major Wounds 0/2 Yuno: Minor Wounds 2/3

In a similar vein to how his own strength effects Baird, Mors was losing consciousness to the intensity of the boar's altered physiology. "Ha..! Heh. Go--get 'em... buddy." Out like a light.
Blithe was still around, but the severe potency further blanked the watchdog's sapience down to a simple predator.
Each of the assailants backed away slowly, waiting for the hybrid to either stop growing or maybe just explode at some point. With horrifying speed, a hand nearly as large as Jin ripped through the air towards her. Her trained reflexes launched her upwards in a narrowly successful dodge. It was a setup as a second hand from that same side repeated the attack. She held out her large throwing star, plunging it into the palm as she were crushed within its grip. By the time she was pulled closer to Baird, the creature had plateaued at just about twenty feet in outstretched height. The constricting fingers of his hand strained at the resistance of Jin's bones.
Kaito went in for the rescue swiftly, throwing a smoke bomb at Jin for her to use as an escape. Although successful, it partially obscured the beast from Tsu and Doc. Each of Baird's hands at his other side dug their blunt claws into the wooden walkway. With enormous acceleration, he spun to sweep Blithe over nearly the entire platform's width. Tsu was too close to the start of the attack to respond, getting bashed and flung away. She barely managed to catch herself on the edge of the dock, sucking air back into her lungs from the blow.
Doc slid under the tail swipe, readying themself for a fist that would not be coming. Instead Blithe coiled back around. The immense eel broke planks as it scooped the warrior as a shark to chum. Doc was sturdy enough to hold back the clamping of Blithe's jaws, yet their lightly scratched body was being doused in venom.
Believing that he had to take down the monster quickly or the odds would irrevocably shift, Kaito threw a second smoke bomb for himself to appear atop Baird and strike at the skull with his sickle. It lodged its tip into the bone, but failed to pierce through. An awful sound shook the air, a roar that wrestled the fire and the distant screams.

Yuno was not a name Ambika knew, but assassins were known to go under different aliases, some even going to the extent of crafting multiple cover identities to better facilitate their deeds or deflect suspicion. It mattered not to the old soul; the enemy was the enemy and she needed to deal with them. That their voice continued to shift at every turn suggested that they were still playing around, still possessing enough confidence to expend their strength on what she understood to be their eccentricity. People in this morbid industry were known to be horribly maladjusted fellows, and the former assassin was not much different back in her day. The ear-grating roar signaled that all was definitely not well down below, even if Baird towered monstrously over his enemies and would likely manage to hold his own for long enough without her. She will help him, darn it, even if he was currently dispossessed of the instincts required to recognize friend from foe and consequently, lack the capacity to appreciate her assistance. Outmaneuvering a veteran was the opposite of easy, however, and she could expect to pay dearly for this. An underhand fling upwards sent the weighted end of the Kusarigama [1] into the air, and just before it would leave the smoke field, a glass sphere [2] at the top surface would shoot out [3] straight towards the fire below, exploding and agitating the fires enough to light whatever gunpowder and perhaps even seal tags the Oniwanban had with them. Sensing the very slight shift in their smoke, Yuno would attempt to intercept whatever it was, only to be introduced to a piercing shot [4] to their hip, breaking a pouch in the process and crushing the performance-enhancing drugs within. "HOW DARE YOU HARM MY STUDENTS!" An instant later, an additional cloud of smoke would appear and with that, a short, masked figure[5] would be in the air right in front of Ambika. At the next moment, an unseen force[6] would punch the old soul through the rooftop into the lower floors, only stopping when she hit the ground. Whatever establishment this was meant to house was all but ruined now, with wooden debris littering the surrounding floor.
"Speak your name and I shall grant you a quick death, knave." The agonizing pain was spreading all over Ambika's body, and the feeling of death began creeping up to her, demanding that she accede control to her long-buried instincts, and the woman would adamantly refuse, summoning all her strength to jerk her head to the left, moving just enough to avoid another head shot[7] that instead broke her other hair clip that held the bun together, causing the hair to unfurl and loosen, revealing the true length of her long, silky hair. [1]Oniwanban Shadow - The KusarigamaThe Kusarigama is comprised of a Kama or Sickle, and long piece of chain with a weight attached at the other end. You can use this weapon to grapple people or objects and pull them towards you a short distance, as well as attack with the sickle or weighted side at range. [2]Improvisation Engineer: The Kusarigama + Glass Sphere + Crude Gunpowder
[3]Minor Trickery You can draw forth a minor amount of magic to assist yourself, regardless of the job. This spell lets you interact with small objects and can do a variety of things. You can create noises centered on an area, even if nothing is there to make the sound. You can open or close unlocked doors and windows without needing to touch them. While effective at many things, this spell excels at being a distraction. [4]Sharpshooter - Charged Shot With the focus and patience of a true sharpshooter, you have gained the ability to charge a shot, holding back your strike for a short duration and building up tension. You can choose to super charge your next shot, giving it extra punching power. The charged shot will ignore things like armor, structures or walls and can be used to pierce things, ignoring the defensive capability of it. This allows you to shoot through a barrier or even hit an enemy directly, ignoring their armor. You only get two charged shots per topic. [5]Yuno: Oniwanban Shadow - Evasive Grenade Arts The Oniwanban acquired black powder long ago and have chosen to mix it with phosphorous to create their penultimate support item - The smoke grenade. They usually carry quite a few on their personages and they can use it in a number of ways, but none is so great as their rapid movement technique. After using a smoke grenade you can move to any point you were aware of within the smoke instantaneously. The cloud of smoke is heavy and will remain for the next two post, only able to be blown away by Master or higher Wind spells.
You have three uses of Evasive Grenade Arts per thread, with each Grenade filling a medium sized sphere. [6]Yuno: Oniwanban Shadow - Concussion Scroll This scroll or seal tag can be placed and used remotely or used directly by the Oniwanban Shadow. When used or activated it releases a forward facing explosion of massive kinetic force that deals heavy blunt and fire damage on contact. [7]Yuno: Oniwanban Footsoldier - Gun Brace (second shot) The Oniwanban have used the black powder supplies they steal for another purpose as well, arming their operatives with a brace of two pistols that have an over under double barrel architecture. Each pistol has two shots per topic. The pistols are of solid enough construction that they can be used as clubs or tonfa like weapons as well and the gun itself can be enhanced with enhancements from the Blunt Shop. Jin had recovered from her screaming ribs and returned her arms to their sockets. Although pained, she managed to grab at her Star Storm scroll and flung it at the occupied monster. Before she could release its power to scatter blades throughout the monster's body, a little shining ball danced firelight across her face. Shadows of granules peppered her cheeks with realization, though far too late to stop the countermeasure. A burst of sparks consumed the center of the small battlefield, setting ablaze her magical seal as only part of a single star managed to manifest, clinking harmlessly onto the ground shortly after.
Doc, within the jaws of the terrifying eel, was ready to blast their way out. They could feel themself benumb more and more, aside from their muscles aching at the resistance of the massive glass-like fangs. Instead, the aforementioned sparks filled the mouth cavity as the stopper for the gunpowder flask was opened. Doc's heightened reflexes were only able to let the pouch get a fingers distance away from their hand before it all erupted in a plume of burning smoke. The blast tore the rest of Blithe's injured cheek open, dislocating his jaw. Baird was left manipulating the tail as Blithe lost what was left of his consciousness, flopping limp at the tip of the extremity. Doc had it worse, the venom and explosion together left them writhing on the ground meters away, meek and groaning.
Kaito was about to suffer the most of all so far. He wrestled against the explosion and gripped tight onto the handle of his weapon, determined to break through. The tip of his blade was lodged tight into layers of metamorphosed bone. Soon he'd regret holding on. Flung forward, he planted supine down the bridge of Baird's snout, hand still gripped onto his sickle. The boar saw with hazy, pale eyes the shape of he who struck. A tantrum surged through the monstrosity that sent his head colliding through the wall of the building beside him. Again and again he'd batter Kaito with fortified brick and boards. One storehouse to the next, Baird would be as a raging bull.
A stroke of inadvertent fortune, whether great or terrible: Baird ended his current spree through the side of the structure from which Yuno and Ambika had been going back and forth. His head bursting through the wall sent the Oni's mashed remains tumbling down to the opposite side of the defunct workshop floor. A long huff of dissatisfaction sent steaming air into the dust-laden interior. Just as a means to childishly spite his pain, Baird clambered with pounding hands up the building's side, cleaving the wall nearly in two over his spine-riddled neck. He'd heave his long face upwards, forcing Yuno's vantage point to expand at his rearing.
Tsu was left unable to impact the conflict. She returned to the field with a triple-jointed staff in hand, assessing possibilities. The carnage left her wary of brash actions. While Baird was acting the part of chaotic destruction, the second-in-command went to Doc with hopes to assist. Jin joined soon after. Both took the opportunity to drag their medic away from further danger. It was down to the one Shadow and one Footsoldier to take down the creature.
"Tsu, what do we do?" Jin asked with a shaken resolve.
The squad captain looked up at the bloodied chimera. His movements were barely slowing, but the damage was piling drastically. Two of the three heads were unable to keep up. His own viscera was spilling from so many wounds. She pieced together that they'd done enough, he will succumb to his injuries. "It is only a matter of time. I just have to keep him moving and he'll die tired and broken. Move out, keep the reinforcements busy with whatever means necessary. No enemy healers especially. I'll protect our master." She warmed up her technique, spiraling segmented rods over her shoulders and hips.
Jin took this order with a guilty pleasure, glad to not have to face that thing again. She disengaged in a burst of smoke.
