The dhampir stood with a shocked yet intrigued face as he listened to Star’s recollection of their origin story. It was a completely odd and crazy history, it didn’t even make logical sense the more he thought about it. However, it seemed to be the truth considering the beanies didn’t seem to be the lying type.
He scratched his chin just trying to absorb the information and make sense of it before speaking back up, “So you are fictional characters from a storybook that previously existed in a fantasy world. In which you three and your associate over there were the main characters and now have ended up becoming real? This world that we exist in now is called Charon filled to the brim with adventures and excitement. This is all very interesting indeed, if you don’t mind me asking a few questions then do you know who created you or the author of this book?”.
A few ideas came to Raoul’s mind as he thought about how this thing could have happened. A space domain mage could’ve simply used some sort of magic to bring these characters to life. He’d also run into a case where a painter got stuck in his painting so perhaps this could be something similar.

"Not fantasy." Chili chimed in. "More towards science." "Yeah, we didn't use magic. Mostly tools and stuff to get around." Goody seconded. "Yep! That is exactly what happened!" Star proclaimed proudly. """Charon,""" The Beanies repeated the word in wonder, and then they would collectively tilt their heads at the next two questions. Demony shook its head as well. The Beanies would form a circle, put their heads together and whisper to one another. "(Author, author... Anything?)" Star asked. "(No... Goody remembers drafts being discarded before the final pages were put together when everything was set, but not the author,)" Goody replied. "(Nope! All Chili can remember is that there must always be at least one page with a drawing of food at every chapter!)" Chili was equally unhelpful in this respect. "(Star-plush would think so. Star-plush has the feeling that they're not a singular author, but nothing else.)" Star sighed. "Unfortunately, no." The Beanies collectively faced Raoul once more with their heads diagonally sideways and their arms hanging forward. They could somehow remember their cover had no author name on it, and that everything was hand-drawn and hand-written, but drew complete blanks otherwise. Oh well. Maybe they will find some answers in the future? Anyway, the book was theirs, so they should probably pick it up and bring it with them. And so they did, with Chili at the bottom end, Goody in the middle, and Star at the top end carrying them on their heads (their arms aren't long enough for that), making their way back to where Raoul was, careful to avoid the still-present Fae portal this time.

“Huh okay science characters”, the dhampir would say begging to pull out his notebook and take notes of the Beanies account of their arrival, “So let’s call this storybook of yours, educational in that sense? Geared toward teaching others a lesson using Demony and your path to friendship. You used tools and not magic in these stories, pardon my skepticism but how exactly does that work considering your paws and stature? Who made these tools for you in the story if you remember?”.
He’d scratch his chin as the Beanies revealed each with varying degrees of explanation of how there didn’t seem to be an author to this tale. It confused him greatly, for if they were to come from a book and spring into reality his theory of a space domain author was out of the window.
“So no author to speak of that created you fellows at least in memory, interesting well that does leave me with a lot more questions than answers. Someone or something created you fellows however had no intention of taking credit for it. Were there any other characters besides you and Demony? How many pages were in this book? Is there more than one book that tells your story?”.
Raoul was a very curious person with a passion for mystery so hearing what he thought were simple little bears with such an unknown background intrigued him. He was no stranger to dealing with friends with mysterious pasts so the Beanies lack of concrete answers wasn’t anything new to him.

"Educational is what The Wholesome Trio's Beanieventures are about indeed!" Star replied proudly. "Though Star-plush can't recall who it was supposed to be for..." This felt so relevant, and yet... nothing. "Power of friendship! Like how we're juggling our storybook on our heads right now!" Goody chimed in with a live demonstration. "Well, we have these, uh... special furs on our paws that let stuff stick to it so we can hold them!" Giving a proper scientific explanation for how their paws worked was likely a horrible idea - something about not affecting the world's technology level popped up in Chili's head. "We also had something that let us be bigger! Though we seem to have lost it on our way here." "We made the tools ourselves! We're Beanieventurers who go around exploring, helping people and making stuff!" The Beanies set down their storybook so that they could focus on Raoul's conversation better.
"Characters, characters... Well, there was the trio of witches for a seasonal story." Star started. "There's the mother owl, runaway princess, family of synchronized speakers..." Goody continued as they counted the number of people in their head. "Troll chef, ghost bakehouse, super skinny gourmet extraordinaire..." Chili, being Chili, was listing out all the food-related characters. "Basically, there's a lot. Number of pages... mmm 256 pages?" The Beanies weren't entirely sure about the pages, but they were certain about the other question. """Only one book!"""

That was a very interesting point that Star brought up, if the Beanies and Demony were created as educational characters then it would be reasonable to think that there was an intention in their creation. Whatever or whoever created them intended to use their stories as a lesson to teach someone or something.
“Aha”, the dhampir chuckled, seeing Goody juggle the storybook and the trio mess around before continuing, “That is very strange so your paws have a special aspect to them that lets you stick to things. Huh, you said something to let you guys be bigger? And what might that be? Some sort of technique to combine your strength or?”.
He nodded his head deep in concentration, “Ah I see sorry for discrediting your carting abilities I’m sure you fellows are good at making tools. Though I’d be interested in seeing what you fellows can make now that you exist in this world of ours”.
Raoul continued to jot down various notes about the Beanies’s stories if not for simple curiosity. The beanies weren’t the only ones in this storybook and it seems like it had a robust cast of characters.
“Damn 256 pages, that seems like a lot even for a single book. What do you fellows intend to do now that you possess the book you originally came from? Do you have motivation to find out how it was that you came to spring up in Charon?”.

"A special light that expands our mass and volume!" Goody answered. "But we seem to have lost all our tools when we arrived here." Goody was deflated. Sure, the Beanies could definitely survive without - they have trained for that precise scenario for some reason - but it still sucked.
The Beanies looked to each other and Demony as they heard Raoul's next question, taking on obvious thinking poses. """Hmm...""" The Beanies all pondered individually about what they wanted to do. Demony was admittedly interested in whomever their author was so that it could shred that bastard to pieces for putting it in such sordidly saccharine scenarios in the first place. The phenomenon was an intriguing prospect too. But of course, the Beanies had entirely different ideas on what they wanted to do. "Star-plush would love to travel around Charon!" Star started, excited for more Beanieventures! "Goody wants to meet new people and make friends!" Goody's ears flapped backwards and their eyes formed arches. "New world means new food and new ingredients!" Chili's eyes sparkled intensely at the prospect of new avenues of culinary delights. "We're not all that interested in finding out how we came to be," Star looked to Goody and Chili. "We're here, and that's all that matters," Goody continued. "Food! Food! Food!" Chili shouted, imitating the clattering of dining utensils against a table. "Though, um. We have literally nothing except our storybook and ourselves." Star hung their arms forward in languid despair, and Goody and Chili did the same, their heads hanging as well. Money was very likely going to be an issue, judging by how dandily Raoul was dressed.
Demony jumped and sat on the Beanies in protest. How dare these three decide their future actions without its input!? "Demony!?" Goody squeaked, and could feel the cold, piercing glare from the shadow despite its lack of expression. "Demony want to say something?" Silence. It was not sure why, but speech was a forbidden act to it. Never. So it just sat there in silence, leaving the Beanies confused as to what it wanted.

“Interesting, a special light that can expand mass? Why does that sound like an invention, my friends? It’s disappointing to hear that you lost your tools during your mysterious adventure in Charon. However, I promise you fellows that if it’s an invention you want, then Charon is the best place to be”, the dhampir would reassure them, trying to cheer them back up.
He smiled hearing them so hyped and excited, “Now that’s the spirit I like to hear. I'm sure that you will travel the land and make lots of friends and have so much great food. I myself have done those very things during my time as an adventurer”.
The dhampir nodded as the group explained they weren’t interested in learning their origin, “That’s fair curiosity isn’t for everyone but yes having to sustain yourself off of dreams isn’t the best idea. Though you can make some decent money from adventuring and helping others in this world”.
The man winced seeing the dark mean-spiritedness of the fellows jump on the bears confused as to what he should do.
“Hey stop, it’s not cool, come on guys, let's settle down”.
After a bit, Raoul would finish writing his report, pick his stuff and research back up, and get ready to start leaving. He’d turn back and wave the bears goodbye, “Bye guys I have to go I have another case that needs to be solved by tonight. Though don’t worry, I have given you four the proper credit for helping out during the research of the fae portals. I’ll be sure to send it to the authorities so we can hopefully figure out what’s going on. I hope that your adventures go well and that we meet again my friends goodbye”, he would then leave into the night.

"""Oooooh~.""" The Beanies were certainly interested in being able to create inventions once again. Inventing stuff was fun!
"""Adventuring~.""" Then the bears would latch onto one of the most exciting activities a Beanie could do. Even though they'd personally prefer Beanieventures, which were basically adventures without the existential dangers of possible death or fates worse than that.
Demony simply ignored the dhampir and looked into the sky. It was night-time now. Well, the weather system in Charon seemed to be operating in rather typical world fashion, it supposed.
"""Bye Mr. Raoul! Thanks for everything!""" The Beanies did their best to squeeze out their paw to at least give their new friend a proper parting gesture, given that they were very much still being pinned to the ground by the meanie Demony. Soon after the man disappeared out of sight, intense winds would blow onto the fields, strong enough that the Beanies and Demony were collectively lifted from the ground and sent tumbling into yet another Fae portal.
"""Beanieeeeeeeeeee!? (Not againnnnnnn!?)""" This was getting annoying at this point as the quartet spun round and round once more, until they reached the end of the tunnel yet again and this time, they would find themselves falling straight down with Demony landing first at the bottom, and the Beanies landing on top of their shadowy frenemy. Taking a gander at their surroundings, they would find themselves amidst an alley connecting to other roads lit with street lights. Carefully peering out, they would find an enormous castle in the distance, and raucous cheers echoing from taverns. Wherever they ended up in, it must be some kind of civilization.
And so it was that the Beanies and Demony found themselves in Sol City.
