“That’s understandable with the constant confusing and boring qualms of bureaucracy it definitely can get boring sometimes”.



He pauses to think about what the other is saying before, “Yeah he could be correct and that’s what’s worrying me the most. Vulcadreus was something that no one expected to deal with, how could we? A giant apocalyptic monster that seemed almost impossible to beat. Something like that needs an answer and some things that Scern was babbling on about kind of make sense. It feels weird even saying that considering how much of a monstrous killing lunatic he is. But at least he’s in prison where he can’t hurt any more people, maybe I could interview him someday and get some more information. It would be nice to hear it from the man himself even if it’d be taken with a grain of salt”.



The dhampir chuckles, “Sorry I got a little too caught up on that, you’re right though we should start finishing up the job”.



Raoul would then continue noting and drawing in his notebook writing down his final observations. It had been a successful night with a lot of discoveries and a review of what they knew, he was sure their findings would be of some help.

Lillian nodded along as she listened and thought. She didn’t really know anything about this scern fellow but had heard of vulcadreus and what had taken place for the most part from the villagers.once he was done she nodded and began sketching and writing again making note of as much as she could. She could feel her eyes get a bit heavy at the late night but she worked o, pulling her shawl tightly around her shoulders to keep from getting chilly as she worked. She did her best to fight off the exhaustion for a good while until she had practically completed anything. After a while longer without thought about what she was even doing, the young woman leaned and rested her head on the nearest thing to her forgetting that this was a person and not a tree or anything inanimate. Her eyes closed softly with her quill still held lightly in her hand from having been taking notes through the night, the little lantern at her side glowing faintly over the paper before them. In the morning she would turn in her report and the whole mission would soon be charged and complete. With that she had drifted off until near morning

The dhampir would continue long at work, filling the rest of his notebook with charts, notes, and annotated star maps. He didn’t finish until the whole thing was filled with observations and research making sure to write down any detail he saw. Sure this was an easy job but that didn’t mean Raoul wasn’t going to do his best at it. It was after a little bit that he noticed his associate was growing drowsy in and out of sleepiness. A soft chuckle would escape his mouth before she rested her head on his lap, a faint red color would fill the pale man’s cheeks, a sudden feeling of nervousness growing in his heart. It was a pretty adorable sight and he’d tease Lillian for it, a monster like him though didn’t deserve such kindness. After a few moments, he’d carefully slip away from her head gently laying it down on the grass. The dhampir silently watched over her and kept an eye out for the rest of the night seeing as he never needed sleep. Eventually, morning came and he’d placed his sunhat and umbrella, the end of their adventure coming to a close.



“Glad to see you had some decent sleep there huh Lilli, especially since you used my lap as a pillow for a minute”, he joked lightheartedly.

Lilith woke up tiredly and in a bit of a daze as she gave a little yawn beginning to look around before freezing hearing him. She bolted up immediately and looked around before focusing on him, her face soon going red in embarrassment and disbelief "w-wait what?! I-I would never!" she stammered with a little huff before quickly looking away grabbing her stuff beginning to put things in her bag "Y-you must just be messing with me is all. W-why even stay when you are clearly done with your research? Surely an umbrella and sun hat can't do much for you and your disposition" she remarked referring to his vampirism.

A part of her was surprised and worried to see him when the sun was coming up as she wasn't sure how much it could hurt him with how all the tales differed in degree of severity. She slowly calmed down a bit from being a flustered mess. "You could have gone back by now i am sure sitting here isn't very entertaining" she said glancing over to him tilting her head a little as she awaited a reply. He looked kind of cute in a goofy way with the hat and glasses though it wouldn't be mentioned to the other

The dhampir would simply chuckle at the triton’s suddenly panicked reaction to his presence finding it amusing.



“Mhm, yeah sure Lillian don’t blame me though here that was your choice. Can’t say it was the worst place to lay your head certainly beats the ground. I would never mess with or lie to anyone much less a lovely lady like yourself. As for staying here, I didn’t want you to be unprotected, after all around these woods are dangerous monsters. Couldn’t in good conscience leave you here alone so you're welcome to watch over you, my friend. The sun is fine with this sun hat and umbrella. I won't burn thankfully at least not badly. I’ll be walking under three lines as another precaution”.



“Watching you was interesting especially all the times you snored”, he laughs lightheartedly, “I’m joking of course, though”.



“Think nothing of it though just doing my service in protecting a lovely lady such as yourself. Take care Lilli I hope to see you another time, perhaps under an equally as magical setting”, he said walking away after saying his goodbyes winking at her and giving her a cheerful cocky grin.

"I-I was unconscious! It was certainly not my choice" She huffed a bit her face still bright red still. She glanced back a bit worried how he could still burn a bit. "You should have just left me here once the sun was rising I would have been fine and you wouldn't have to worry about getting burned" she replied simply looking at him. Her face went brighter red at his jokes of snoring. She didnt actually snore right? Did she? She was a bit relieved that he was only joking or at least said so

Lillian watched as he began walking away. She was surprised by his personality and kindness. she however tried to calm her blushing face down and rolled her eyes some "Y-yeah yeah just be careful you fool" She huffed some and soon grabbed her things and began walking away and back towards the town in order to turn in the information gathered and to complete the mission. She felt a small smile on her face though wasn't fully sure why. She was surprised and soon she turned in the information and findings before heading out to go back to the inn and get some proper rest
