Unfortunately for Javal, the thick and tough skin of the half-giant prevents him from cutting clean through. However, the combined attack strikes deep enough to hit bone and send the half-giant stumbling back. His legs break free from the ice with the overwhelming force of the fellblood. He tries to swing his makeshift glaive, but the uppercut goes way wide as he falls over.
The thud of the half-giant and the roar of Haurach send the rest of the raiders back into the mountains. Gilder and Theo pick off a few stragglers as Leandros gathers himself to watch them flee. He wipes the sweat from his brow before it threatens to freeze to his forehead.
"You did well with your quick action Javal, you've come a long way since our spar. I wager I would not fare as well as I did back then if we were to fight again." He smiles and clasps his back.
Villagers start to poke their heads out from their homes. With the sounds of fighting dying down, they are curious to know if they are free still. Seeing the street full of bandits now dead and the two adventurers still standing the applause starts slow but builds into raucous cheering, the people now streaming out of their homes.
Leandros smiles wider with a soft laugh as the crowds come, "Enjoy the victory with the people Javal, I will handle the bureaucratic part of the work with the town master. You earned the celebration today, people will be dying to hear your tales."

Javal hovered in the air with the golden wings on his back keeping him airborne as he whispered, “Javal Style: Triple Slash” breathing heavily as he looked at the half-giant stumbling back. It wasn’t enough to cut clean through, he wasn’t as strong as Leandros yet and had a long way to go. He has no energy left to cleanly dodge so dashes to the side slightly as the glaive comes swinging up. He feels the air hit his face as the sloppy blow misses.
With Hurach’s roar signaling the end of this battle Javal slowly flies down over to where Leandros is. He weakly struggles to stand the exhaustion of the fight, finally hitting him as he chuckles, relieved that the battle is finally over.
“Thank you my friend Leandros and you haven’t seen anything yet, I still have a trump card I have yet to use. If the situation truly got dire and I had nothing else to use I would’ve used it and won. I’d love to fight you again someday my friend. I'm sure I won’t fail as badly as I did last time. I’ve learned so much since I’ll say our spar was one of my first ones on my adventuring journey”.
Meryl and Nadia quickly come to support their liege helping to keep him up from his exhaustion. Nadia scolds him for being so reckless while Meryl simply jokes about how pesky and annoying dealing with the grunts was.
“Thank you Leandros. I think someday I’ll be able to enter the true battle of smarts, that is bureaucracy. However for now I shall be happy with enjoying our victory”.
He motions for Nadia and Meryl to let go of him and yells out in excitement, “WE DID IT EVERYONE, HEARTHSIDE VILLAGE HAS BEEN SAVED. DRAGON CRADLERS BE PROUD OF YOUR EFFORTS AND STAND TALL YOU SURVIVED AND CHARON SHALL KNOW OF YOUR BRAVERY”.

Leandros can't help but smile at Javal's exuberance. The knight himself feels ready to fall over, but knightly pride keeps him upright. The people need to see that their bastion still stands and hope still lives....at least that's what he tells himself.
Gilder plucks arrows out of bandits on his way to Leandros as Theo cleans his blade. The pair have also seen their fair share of fighting today. The scout gives his lord a look that is quickly dismissed.
"Go...celebrate with Javal, you two have earned it....but no ale." Theo groans thinking he was finally going to get to party with adventurers. "And you Javal...pray you never have to do the paperwork." He smiles and waves them all off.
It is only when the streets clear and Leandros is only left with the silent battlefield that he leans against his halberd for support. The weight of the breath that leaves his chest is heavy. Was he making any progress towards the peaceful world he wanted for his child? In this moment it was hard to tell.
Leandros eventually rises back to his feet to try and wrap things up here. Discuss what happened with the town master, offer ideas for how to prevent, collect pay for Javal and their respective crews....finally take a seat for five minutes.
He had to remind himself the peace was a slow journey and on the path to it there would be many, many days like this. As he nodded off in the town master's study his mind focused on his wife and their upcoming child, the vision that would get him through each and every one of those days to come.
