Falling. That was the first thing Aura was aware of. Feeling weightless and dropping rapidly. They opened their eyes, squinting at the night sky. It was getting farther and father away from them as they fell to the ground. Jeez, how long have I been falling? Aura glanced around, seeing the ground quickly getting closer. Maybe falling would be better than hitting the ground and breaking all their limbs.
After a little bit more, Aura finally landed with a large thud and sand exploding upwards. That hurt. Aura closed their eyes and lay there for a moment, scanning themselves. Well, nothing seems broken at least. They thought, before opening their eyes to stare at the stars. Sand started to settle over them, so they sat up and started trying to quickly brush it off. With a grunt, they stood up and shook their hair out to get rid of the sand in it, before dusting themselves off with their hands.
With a quick glance around, they could easily tell they were lost. Couldn't have at least opened a way to a city, huh? Aura frowned. They looked up at the sky, the sun disappearing over the horizon, just barely illuminating anything. Soon enough, it'd be totally dark out, and Aura wasn't accustomed to the dark. When you lived where light and dark just never existed, it was a little hard to get used to darkness. Already they were struggling to see anything, squinting to make out shapes.
Aura stood there for a bit more, wondering what to do next. They started to pace, trying to think. Alright... This is fine, just a little lost. I should go... that way, and then just keep walking until I reach something. I don't think land goes on forever, right? It could, I dunno, maybe it does. Hmm, lets just walk that way, alright?
And with their thoughts keeping them company as they wandered around, they kept struggling through the sand. Aura wasn't getting anywhere, they were still totally lost. Night kept creeping forwards as well, blanketing them in total darkness soon enough.
Finally, they saw some lights. Didn't look like anything, but it had to be something. Great, somewhere to see and maybe meet someone. They'll know what to do. They hurried closer, and saw a little band of people with torches and some sharp things. Aura waved to them, and they started walking faster towards the towering person. They waved their torches at Aura, holding up their weapons.
"What the hell is this thing?" One of them shouted at no one in particular. "You think I know, idiot?" Snapped another. Aura stood there awkwardly, not sure what they meant. They glanced around, trying to figure out what they were talking about. Another said something that Aura didn't catch and they all laughed. A cheer rose up as someone said something else quickly, and they all advanced towards Aura.
Aura froze up as the group grabbed them and tied them up, extremely confused and terrified. Finally, self preservation kicked in, and they tried to fight the group as they were dragged along through the sand. Already disorientated and confused, it wasn't going so well for them.
