Personality: If someone were to meet Nieven for the first time and describe him in one word it would be narcissistic. He is extremely self-centered and vain, constantly putting himself above anyone else at any given time. He has been pampered and looked after since he was born even his time on the Black Dragon Pirates could not tame his intitledness. He feels like it's his duty as a former noble to look after the needs of the poor and the common. He constantly looks at his mirror to look at his reflection fixing any imperfections he sees in front of him. Although the man is very vain and has many bad qualities underneath all of that lies a gentle and compassionate nature. He cares deeply for everyone he meets although he may not admit it and strives to leave a good impression. Nieven was raised with the idea of justice and that it was his duty to protect those in need no matter the circumstances.
History: Nieven was born in the Crescent Isles in the Oakenthorn Estate to a very wealthy and well-connected noble named Arwen Oakenthorn who came from a long line of nobles and a formerly middle-class earth-genasi woman named Amethyst Stone Mantle. The two fell in love and went against Arwen's family's desires; they were a happy couple and gave birth to three sons and a daughter. After a while Arwen was handed the position of the head of the family and the formerly wild and rebellious spirited was welded into a cold and stern businessman who placed the family's appearances and honor above all else, even his family's well-being. Nieven being the second youngest child was already born with the idea that all he was going to be was a supporting member of the family destined for mediocrity and subservience to his older brothers. He was raised with the family's best interests at heart placing a lot of pressure on him to be as skilled as his older brothers learning fencing, horseback riding, combat, general education about the world, and learning to command subordinates. Nieven was never quite interested in these and found ballet, tactics, and business much more motivating but alas he was the third son and would never be allowed in those conversations. Once Nieven reached the age of fourteen he was ordered to apprentice under a great seafarer to expand the family's business. Under normal circumstances he would've just joined a boring government ship as a cabin boy but thanks to luck and his mother's prodding of his father. The boy would be placed under Captain Wilford Wyther's crew, his mother meeting the dear captain during a trip to the markets and being charmed by the captain's personality and skill. Initially, Nieven hated it there and pleaded with the captain to send him back under the threat of getting his father to have the entire crew arrested. Eventually, the elf calmed down and grew to accept being a part of the crew's family growing up with them alongside the other young apprentice pirates. Eventually, after being forced to leave the crew under Wilford's last orders, Nieven grieved the captain's loss the hardest after discovering the crew's mysterious annihilation. He returned home expecting a grand welcome only to find only his mother and sister happy to see him. He marched into his father's office in a huff angered by his coldness and the two argued with Arwen revealing he cared little for Nieven stating he would've preferred the elf to die with that ragged captain he discarded him with. At that moment Nieven punched him in the jaw and left his family's estate no longer noble and now motivated to become better than his father and brothers in every way while continuing his captain's memory. He has now set off into the world of Charon, properly determined to make a name for himself and make a lot of money.
