The name was like a punch in the gut. But it was clear. Sark. What’s the deal, why are you guys after Sark? He’s just a business man. Kind of annoying sometimes but harmless. You gonna try and hold him for ransom or something. The man would have looked incredulous if he weren’t turning purple under the crushing weight of Shaa’s ever tightening grip. No …he.sto…he stole it. He drops the man to the ground like a sack of rocks. The man pulls a deep breath and starts coughing violently. After taking a moment to calm down, Shaa looks at him sternly. Start from the beginning.
We work for a man named Karig. He runs in similar circles to Mr Sark. Several weeks back, Sark was visiting our masters house, looking to purchase some rare item. Karig refused to sell it. When Sark left, the item itself also went missing. What was it. The man shook his head. That’s the problem. Even we don’t know, Karig won’t say. We just got orders to get, whatever it is, back. Because we don’t know what it is , we only had one option. Kidnap the thief himself. Exactly. Shaa knew Sark and couldn’t put thievery past him. What could it be? We figured that he would be accompanying at least one of his own caravans. He has just been a lot harder to pin down than we thought. Shaa frowned. But all those travelers. The man shrugged. It’s just the job. They are just….collateral damage.
Collateral damage…right. Shaa walks over and kicks the man gruffly in the face with his hoof, laying him out to the ground unconscious. He considers for a moment adding the man to the list of collateral damage but can’t bring himself to attack someone who can’t fight back. He spits on him for good measure and puts his hands on his hips. Sark. This was all about him. The Vorrapedes were a problem, so they would deal with them then, get some answers. Come on, let’s go find Leandros. Oh wait…is that them?

Javal tries his best to keep up his jogging pace as he trails behind Leandros due to his tired state before suddenly remembering a very important fact he forgot to consider, he had a steed of his own. He holds his hand over his left eye as he pictures his lazy steed in his mind focusing on feelings of exhaustion and want and channeling magic through his hand as he holds it in the air.
Suddenly from out of nowhere (1. Summon Mount) a loud hellish neighing could be heard before his steed popped into existence in front of him.
“Awesome, I’m glad it worked”, he says with a smile as he hops on his nightmare steed’s back “Go, Asleipmir”, he says as the horse grunts in annoyance catching up to Leandros and Byrr.
He manages to hear the man’s comment and nods, “Aye, I’m sure we can catch up to him in no time”, after a couple minutes of galloping he hears Leandros call out. After listening to him he squints his eyes seeing the unmissable figure of the manly minotaur.
He follows behind Leandros and hops off his steed greeting the fellow, “Shaa is everything alright? What happened here? Did you find out what’s going on?”.

It doesn't take long for two horses at a full gallop to close the distance as Leandros pulls on the reins to slow their approach. Leandros looks a bit concerned as he dismounts from Byrr, seeing how injured the minotaur looks. Gilder looks pretty exhausted too, taking a few hits during the exchanges with the stranger.
"Somehow it seems as if Javal and I actually had the easier job...what happened out here?" As he approaches the pair, a soft glow eminates from the knight as he focuses a moment. The dull pulse of light healing the four fighters in a soft wave of healing.[1,2]
"Looks like our helpful friend back in town is in a bit of an as-....bad guy. Seems he got caught up in something pretty serious." Gilder rolls his shoulder as the healing takes effect, looking back to Shaa to fill in the rest of the gaps.
Leandros' concern grows as he lets out a breath, "Well then, I imagine our work here isn't done? If the caravans are still a threat then we should probably move out as soon as we can, right?"

Oh you know. Getting shot by crossbows. Mauled by giant friggen owl bears. Nothing big. Shaa takes a deep breath as he feels the healing effect start to wash over his battered body. Looks like you guys took care of the bugs. At least something went right. The big Minotaur stands up slowly and shakes a bit. He can hear some joints popping as he tries to stretch the aches from his frame. But I think we are done here. Only thing really left is to report back to my buddy back in town. He has some explaining to do.
With the beast master tied up, the group recaps the rest of their separate experiences and heads back to the town. With determination and little to impede their journey, they find Sark sitting at a small table at the tavern, reviewing some paperwork. He looks up with a smile until he notices Shaa’s decidedly grump expression bearing down on him.
You’re back already? Wow, I knew I made the right decision getting you guys involved. A couple of pesky Vorrapedes were no match for the Menace of the Gazablaak fight pits. Ha. Shaa squints his eyes and slams his hands down hard enough to shake the table and lose some of the paperwork on the ground. Ummmm no. You can thank those guys for getting rid of your bugs. He says as he points to Javal and Leandros. I was actually much too busy BEING SHOT AT AND MAULED BY OWL BEARS! Sarks expression turns sheepish as he feigns confusion on the situation. Really? That forest is treacherous to be sure, glad you made it back. Don’t give me that. Those Vorrapedes belonged to a beastmaster who, in turn, belonged to a guy named Karig. Sound familiar? Sark scratches his head and carefully measures his next words. Karig? Sure, I know him. Shifty fellow, but of a collector like me. Well, apparently you collected something from him and now he’s raising your caravans looking for it back. Psst. Small timer. He doesn’t have friends like me right? You guys took care of it like you said you would and I am ma man of my word. Those guys get paid and we are all squared. Everyone is a winner. Come on buddy, don’t be grumpy just because the job got a little complicated.
Shaa pointed to the now scabbed over bolt wound in his arm. Complicated does not put holes in me. It’s not my fault you don’t wear armor. It’s your fault I would need to. Sark waves his hand. Our business is done. You can grouse all you want but feel free to see yourself out. Shaa grabs a random pile of papers from the table and breathes fire all over them. Hey damn it! I need those receipts. The grumpy Minotaur walks away holding his middle finger up as he goes, knowing better than to start a fight in the bar infamous for being safe. He looks at his companions as he leaves and motions for them to follow him outside.

“It appears that what Leandros has said is true, whatever manner of monster that you fellows faced over here seems much more dangerous than those giant vorrapedes we took down. Owlbears and crossbow shots are indeed nothing to just move past, though I’m kind of jealous, I wish I could’ve fought an owlbear but the vorrapede was still a great battle”, the fellblood states glancing over at Shaa and Gilder’s injuries.
He suddenly feels a wave of refreshment and healing as Leandros uses his light magic on the fighters He looks down to see the majority of his injuries healed, bumps, bruises, several broken ribs, and a couple of cuts all healed and Javal looked like what he did when he stepped into the camp to fight the monsters in the first place. Javal follows alongside the group as they make their way back to where this journey had started, meeting up with the employer that had given them their quest. Once they entered, Javal was a bit upset at the way his friend had been treated. Their entire quest was a shame, all a ruse for some haughty rich dude to get away with stealing. It angered Javal but he decided to temper his emotions and let Shaa handle it. Which in turn proved to be the correct decision, he stood by and once Shaa signaled for them to walk outside he followed.
Not before bowing at Sark and saying, “Farewell good sir although this mission was itself a ruse for you, I enjoyed myself and wish you become a less mean person” and he walked away jogging to catch up to Leandros and Shaa outside.
Outside the group chatted a little more about the events that happened and Shark's behavior, “I still can’t believe this fellow led us on some wild chase for his self-interest, truly wicked. I’m sorry that you had to deal with the main effects of the man’s malintent; however, I can't see that you didn’t handle it well and be a strong friend. It was truly a pleasure to adventure with you two fellows, I hope to see more of you in the future”.
They talk for a little more before it becomes time to bid farewell. Javal goes up to each man and shakes their hand firmly before waving goodbye and walking away into the distance looking for another adventure.

"It was only one owlbear...the crossbow was a pain in the ass though." GIlder dryly adds before going back to his stoic silence.
Leandros just shakes his head, happy enough that his friends are as safe as you can be as an adventurer. Not dead is usually the best you can hope for after a job. Back in town, their situation wouldn't improve it seems as once again the people too cowardly to do their own dirty work trick others into doing it for them.
"If you had been honest with us from the start, we could have had a better plan in place. Shaa might not have been injured." Leandros crosses his arms over his chest as he leers down at the man.
Sark doesn't seem to care all that much, giving a disinterested shrug. Typical of these kinds of cowards. Doesn't matter who or what gets caught in the cross fire so long as they end up on top in the end. If Leandros were a different man he would send Sark's face through the table, but he departs before that can happen.
"Unfortunately, cowards like him are all too commonplace. Misuse the goodwill of friends and adventurers to further their own interests."
"Well if it makes you lads any happier..." Gilder rejoins them holding up some tattered reins. "He's gonna be doing a lot of walking....strange how his horses seemed to just...break free from the wagon and run off into the woods. Shame about that."
