For a single terrifying moment, as the Spire Viper begins to rear up when Izzy is within its sights, she feels a little thrill of panic and glee run through her nerves. She was ready to bolt, as that was the only means of survival currently, but the snake was so big and gorgeous, and absolutely going to kill her dead without even a second thought. What a lovely day.
The explosion is deafening, loud enough to startle Izzy even though she knew it was coming and had plenty of experience with the causing of and/or being in the danger zone of loud noises. She leaps back into the relative safety of the trees as the tunnel comes crashing down with a thunderous cacophony, ducking low so as to avoid any stray parts of stone.
Between breaths of wind, the haze of destruction cleared enough for a proper visual; The gargantuan body of the Spire Viper lay buried among the rocks, still and silent. But Izzy, for all her flaws, was many things-- a fool was not one of them. She was silent, her laughter restrained for when their victory was more assured, and right now, it was anything but.
As soon as she can properly see again, and determine that the great beast of a snake is not thrashing wildly in pain, she breaks cover and rushes forward, pulling out her rapier to drive the point home through the creature's eyes socket, ideally the quickest route to its brain.

The snake throws its head back as Izzy stabs into it, having a bit more life in it apparently. It thrashes and writhes as Izzy embeds her rapier through the skull. Lucky for her, Fish still has a secret or two. They hastily coat a bolt in poison and fire, there wasn't a big need to aim as the open mouth of a spire viper was an easy target.
Despite the size difference between bolt and snake, the entire viper suddenly goes stiff and hits the ground.[1] Izzy can now stab until her hearts content and she was satisfied it was finally dead dead. Like for real dead, no take backs. Fish meanwhile scrabbles down from the tree and starts to hop over towards Izzy, seemingly in no rush. Given the organ damage, the poison should make it nigh impossible for the viper to recover.
"Fish thinks the job is adequately done. Fish would like to return and get paid." Without waiting for approval, they do take to their perch on Izzy's shoulder again. They were going to get some good coin out of this scholarly high society nerds whether they wanted to pay it or not.

"AAHHH, geez this thing is still kickin'," Izzy grunts, trying to stab into the scaly thing's neck and face as it writhes, hissing. She ducks to avoid a swing of its great head, before performing an artful fencer's lunge into the creature's neck. It pierces, sending a gush-- a trickle, probably, for a creature this size-- out over the area. So intent is she on stabbing this thing eight ways to Sunday, that she does not catch the stealthy, well placed bolt enter the creature's gaping, bloody maw while in the midst of its thrashing. That combined with the many stab wounds that afflicted its body, Izzy delivers one last blow with her rapier, straight up through its sinus cavity and into its brain. At last, the creature falls still.
"That's it? Ahhh we did it!" She crows, lifting a hand to pat Fish lightly on the back as they perch on her shoulder, jubilant. "Count that as another victory for Fish and Izzy, my feathered friend! Well done the both of us. And meee with the coup de grace~." says Izzy, none the wiser of Fish's direct involvement as she shakes the blood of her rapier and resheathes it. "Now I get to add Viper Slayer to my resume. I think our victory is plenty good cause for celebration! Whaddaya say, Fish?" She grins, waggling her brows. They were going to be rolling in it here shortly-- and as few buildings had been decimated as possible! That should be extra, in her book.

Fish does not bother debating whether it was the poison that killed it or Izzy. They don't really care about the accolades and in their mind they already have the best title 'The Sneak.' Plus it was much easier for future endeavors if Izzy gets all the scary praise because she is the selling point of this duo.
"Fish would like to be paid first." They nod as Izzy starts leading them back towards the camp the originally arrived at.
Before they could even say anything, the person who seems to be in charge of it all approaches. "By the gods, the commotion, we could hear it back here! That type of destruction is unbelievable. I think we will take this into consideration with regards to your payment."
Fish would just murder the man, but there were a lot of witnesses so Fish would take another route. As he starts to prattle on about the sanctity of this research, Fish is scribbling a note. It is then presented to the man, Izzy is given the quiet signal they've developed for the evil smile.
The note is unfurled and the man quickly goes as white as a sheet. It is tucked away into his pocket with a trembling hand. "Well....considering the uh...the cirumstances of uh the work I think that uh um...we can...."
He trails off before just handing the pair a sizeable bag of coin and scuttling off. Fish nods assuredly and starts to look into the bag and count.

Izzy sputters indignantly as the foreman clutches at his metaphorical pearls over the loud noises up the mountain. It was fine! Only one thing got a little collapsed, and that was as much a damage mitigation as anyone could hope for in these circumstances! They had done immensely well all things considered, and certainly better than these louts could have done it! And no one was dead, which was frankly a friggin miracle; these archaeologist nerds couldn't even claim that. But Izzy is a Zeinavian to her core; she was prepared to argue and haggle over a price, if that's what it took. She takes a step forward to loom over the man, her smile wide and sharp. "Maaaan, the hell are you on about, we--"
She pauses when Fish takes out a writing stick and scribbles something on their notepad. Well now the foreman was about to get it. Get what, though, she doesn't know. But instead of showing her the note, as she expects, Fish hands it to the foreman. Her brows lift, and catching the sign that rolls through Fish's talons, she realizes it's probably better if she doesn't ask. She falls silent and lets the bird handle it.
And handle it they do. The foreman looks at the paper and Fish as though he had see a ghost, stammers a few non-words, throws money at them, and scampers off.
--The hell was in that note?
"....WELP! That takes care of that!" Izzy hands Fish the bag so they can do their math, and starts back down the trail, Fish perched on her shoulder, to get them a nice cozy inn for the night. "Good work, Fish."
