The massive rat beast felt the weight of her attacker lift, leaving her tangled inside the mass of fabric. She continued to gnash and gnaw, tearing through the cloth with her razor sharp claws as Del slunk back into the shadows, trying her best to go unseen so she could reposition. It took the girl only seconds to tear through her prison, shards of fabric fluttered to the muddy ground as the entire form of the monster rat loomed in the moonlit night. As her prey seemingly vanished into the darkness, Plague continued to sniff around, her beady eyes glaring side to side, viciously hunting.
Suddenly, a snap echoed out from the brush to her side, the rat instantly turning to face its direction as a snarl escaped from behind two razor sharp teeth. She took two heavy steps towards the darkened underbrush and sniffed the air as Del made her move, launching forward to drive her heels into the massive creature. It was a quick assault, and one initiated from the silent cover of the night, but it was a flawed attack. Plague's ears could be fooled by a rogue rock, and her eyes tricked by the shadows in the night, but her nose, it was untrickable.
As Del's feet left the ground and aimed themselves at Plague, her massive frame shifted, turning to face opponent, leading the woman to land directly into Plague's open arms. The creatures increased sense of smell had picked up and tracked the woman, knowing full well that she was launching an attack from behind. If the woman was successfully trapped in her grasp, Plague would tightly squeeze her, and deliver a deafening roar, spit and mucus flying forth to coat the woman's face.

Too late to change direction while in midair, Del collides with the rat beast, the clawed arms of the creature open and waiting. She winces, feeling the claws sink into her skin through her clothes.
It hadn't worked out at all like Del had intended, but then again, she always was more effective up close and personal.
Her ears rang as the ear splitting roar hit her, mucus and spittle spattering her in the face. Rather than recoil from the ferocious roar, Del's lips pull into a tight snarl, and her elbow flies up in an uppercut motion, slamming hard bone against hard bone as her elbow collides with the bottom of the creature's jaw, cutting off the roar with a sharp clack.
What follows is a barrage of piston like strikes, knees colliding with the midsection of the creature, elbows coming sharp and high, driving down into the creatures shoulders and neck, hitting the soft tissue to try and loosen her grip. If at any point the creature lunged for her with those sharp teeth, Del's head would shift back, and then sharply forward, angling straight into the nose and upper jaw of the creature with the crown of her head with a tinnitus inducing blow.
Martial Master/monk level 1 hitting, nothing specific

She was almost surprised, startled by the hard upper cut to her jaw, snapping her mouth closed and interrupting her roar. Plague braced herself as a flurry of strikes pelted her face and body. Luckily the tough were beast hide she now possessed was absorbing most of the danger behind the strikes, softening what would have been heavy blows. The pain grew, and while she nullified a lot of it, the attacks were still strong enough to cause her to wince, eyes closed, head bobbing from side to side as she was just relentlessly assaulted.
The rage deep inside her was starting to wain, and with the pain settling in, she knew time was running out. Summoning the last bit of her strength, the urchin lifted her arms upwards, holding Del like she was a crying baby. With a mighty heave and a lightning fast flick, the rat beast thing flung the woman forward, tossing her into the air and away from Plague. She was going to use this opportunity to flee, her fright having done its job. With Del now hopefully soaring away from Plague, the girl turned, dropped on all fours and took off in a mad sprint. Her clawed foot steps would slosh in the mud for seconds before Getting far enough away to vanish. She hoped that the time it took Del to recover was enough to put distance between the two.
Silence would fill the swampy void once more, Plague vanishing from the scene of her crime. At a later point in the night the young girl would reconvene with Mouse and Sparrow, finding an abandoned shack or bears den to call home for the evening. They would make fun of her swollen face, pointing out how she had the shit kicked out of her. The pain was worth it though, she was able to keep the story of the scary swamp monster alive. Now tales of a horrible monster would begin to spread, sparking the beginning of her master plan.

Del lets out a surprised noise as the creature just... tosses her. Underhanded, up and over, like a stone. Cat-like, De; twists in mid-air to ensure she lands on her feet. Staggering slightly as her feet hit the uneven ground, her shoes dig in as she prepares to launch herself back at the--
...Where did they go.
The creature takes off at a pace far faster than Del could have anticipated. Breathing heavily, a little disoriented, she casts her alarmed gaze all over the area, looking for the creature and any sign of her lost companion. "Plague?" She calls out, whispering so she could still hear anything else. "Plague, can you hear me? It's gone."
She searches the rest of the night, picking her way through the mire to try and find any sign of the lost young woman. Guilt and loss start to take hold as Del finds a few scraps of cloth, the rent cloak Plague had been wearing in the village. She kneels in the mud, holding the fabric in her hands, the hot, angry tears of guilt beginning to spill down her face, mingling with the dried streaks of blood.
She couldn't save everyone.
Del finds a spot near a tree-- one of the bigger ones, well rooted and less likely to be shifted by the changes of the weather and soil-- and uses her hands to dig. A small divot is what she can manage in her current state, and without the water getting into the hole, but in the end, there is a tiny grave for what Del believes remains of Plague. "May your song join the wind and reeds, your journey find you in the harmony of Fiddler's Green." She removes one of the carved wooden flowers from her bag, and lays it on top of the little mound of saturated soil.
Her quiet mourning completed, Del returns to the village if only to gather the rest of her things, and then leave for yet more places. The village would remained haunted by the creature driven off, and Del would be haunted by the life that it had taken.
