There are docks EVERYWHERE on the Crescent Isles. It was sort of a hub for piracy. Maybe it was because of the easy get in, get out culture of the isles. The easy get away, the ability to disappear. This was something Celeste was hoping for. THe faster she can disappear, the better. All she needed was a way off the island. Unfortunately, it seemed like nobody really wanted her on their ship. Whether that was because she was a girl, or because she was a ghost, she supposed either one was a sort of omen.
Celeste leaned against the wood post on the port, watching as ships went and came. Everything had sort of cooled down, nobody was looking for the ghost girl anymore. Really, she figured she was a bit luckier than others that nobody put a bounty on her head. Not one that she knew of, at least. She would attempt to start a conversation with a few people as they passed by, but nobody was biting.
“Excuse me, are you about to leave? I just need a way off the island…” Her ghostly white eyes seemed desperate at this point. “Please. I can’t pay, but I’ll be helpful! I can clean, cook…”

As the air shifted a ship came into port with crimson red sails, a voice could be heard shouting orders on board before a horned male appeared at the front leaning over with the help of a rope “steady as she goes lads! Fold the main lines and steer her into port! Hands ready on anchor and sails up! Make sure we dock nice and easy!” He called as he helped guide the ship in “right drop anchor and tie er off! Sooner we get this done the sooner we can drop off a few things and get some ale!” He grinned as he hopped from the ship, using the rope to glide him onto the dock, he was a tall and slender man with a handsome face and cleaned slicked back hair, his tail swayed under his captains coat as he peered around the docks raising a brow as he saw the girl. Within moments he had swaggered over to her and leaned on a nearby barrel “well what a lovely sight to see as soon as we reach port. Tell me love are you waiting for a lover to come back from see or am I just lucky with such a beautiful greeting party?” He asked being the same big flirt as always, gender never seemed to matter when it came to such things.

Celeste just straight didn’t know how to respond. She stared at the man for a second, then looked down at herself. Given, she was dressed very nicely today. A clean blouse, leather pants. Even a corset. One would say she would belong here if she didn’t look absolutely out of place.”I-i.. Me?” She questioned. She didn’t really want attention on herself, but nonetheless, her otherwise pale face pinkened a little. “I-i’m not… I’m…” God damnit Celeste.
“I’m not here for anyone.” She finally managed with some fake confidence. “Just looking for a way off the island.” Celeste’s stare went from him, to the ship behind him. “Is that yours?” She questioned. A few thoughts ran through Celeste’s mind here, the first being, of course… She could use this to her advantage. Celeste’s blush didn’t move, but her expression changed from a slight panic to doe-eyed interest. “Are you a real pirate?” She questioned, moving her hands behind her back.

He raised a brow chuckling a little at the blush adorning her face as he nodded “that I am and aye that’s my ship the Lunarbell” he nodded looking her over “so what’s this about getting off the island, looking for a job, a person maybe or just plain bored?” He questioned his gaze becoming a little more serious. After all he knew what it was like to be trapped, his back stinging with memories of the past as his tail swayed a bit behind him awaiting her answer to decide his next possible course of action. He didn’t look or act it but he could be a good listener and had a heart

“Ah…” She considered for a moment something someone told her before, about how pirates are usually not to be trusted. So, Celeste just shrugged. “J-just bored.” She responded confidently. ‘Not running from my problems at all, no… Not a fugitive. Definitely not.’, Celeste thought to herself, not quite meeting the Pirate’s eyes. “Look. Where’s your next destination? If you promise no funny business… I can’t pay, but I’ll… I’ll work for you, to pay off the passenger fee. Whatever that may be.” She was totally leaving herself up for shark bait here. What sort of dummy doesn’t set a price, and just says ‘oh, I’ll work off whatever amount. Der.’ Celeste had immediately regretted saying it, but it’s not as if she could take it back right now anyways. Ugh, her brother was always so much better at negotiating.
“Let’s start over. Hi, I’m Celeste.” She holds out her hand for him. “I am seeking passage off the island for personal reasons. What’s your price?” Not as bad, but still not great. What else could she do? He was the only one who had decided to actually speak to her, despite her being here for quite a while. At this point, she’ll take what she can get.

He shrugged “who knows? Boredom takes us where we like” he remarked simply and with a small shrug “well what can you do lass? Can you tie lines? Raise anchor? Do you know a stern from a bow or read the stars?” He questioned seeming a bit less interested or motivated by the lack of reasoning from the other. He however waited to see her answer moving to stand up straight as he did so. He was curious to the idea of helping but was still mulling over his options at the current moment and in the current situation

Celeste was at a loss for words at the questions. It occurred to her, for once, that she had no ‘real’ skills. Her mother taught her a bit of magic, but other than that…
“I can make wind gusts.” She offered, a bit defeated. “I.. I am also willing to learn. I’m a quick learner.” She offered. Then sighed. “I’m sorry. Really. I don’t have many tools at my disposal, but… I am begging you. Just get me to Moonglade, or even the Marshflats… Just off the island.” She seemed desperate, though she was not holding on to hope that this man would help her. At this point she may just have to stow away on someone’s ship.
Actually. That wasn’t such a bad idea. She looked back at his ship - the Lunarbell. How hard would it be for her to sneak up on that anyways?

Flynn was surprised by the pleading and looked at her a moment before holding his arm out "Let's discuss it over a meal eh? You tell me the truth of why your dyin to run away and I'll take ya with me, you can help how ya can and we can get ya far from here. But if there is one thing I don't trust it's lies, especially when asking for help. Do we have a deal luv?" he asked raising a brow, his arm stayed out for her to take if she wished to accept. Yes Flynn was a pirate and could be an obnoxious flirt and hardly ever seem serious but that always changed when someone seemed genuinely in need. Originally being a runaway himself he understood the fear and worry, hell he even remembered stowing away on a ship and joining the crew. The ship wasn't always his after all. It was given to him by a man who practically raised him and considered him like a son.

Celeste stares at the Pirate for a moment, then looks down at his arm. “Understood. I could go for a meal…” She hesitantly takes the arm.
The two make their way a bit more into town. Unfortunately, all the happenings in Starlight City were quite a big story here, so by the time they had gotten to the dive bar, she had her hood up, hiding her features fairly well. She was mostly quiet, up till they sat down and got comfortable. “OK… My name is Celeste.” She starts, quietly. She didn’t want people overhearing her. “It’s… My situation is very complicated. I was a noble, but I… My family lost their title.” She paused for a second, looking away and staring at the table. “I’m in a very bad position right now, and I can’t go to a home I don’t have anymore and… They, people, are looking for me. For a while I was staying in the Bamboo Woods, but the villagers around me thought I was a ghost, which to be entirely fair to the snot-nosed village idiots…” She gestures down to herself. “I was sort of cursed to be like this. So I get it… But I couldn’t stay there. I can’t stay on the island at all.”
After her small word vomit, she stopped, and she looked up and just stared at the Pirate. “So what else would you like to know?”

Flynn walked her in ordering food and drink for them both as he sat down by her and listened quietly and intently raising a brow at the situation. “Who are the pursuers?” He asked as he looked her over wondering if she knew the name or the man behind it “and how were you cursed or by who if you know that information?” He added on though his voice was calm and gentle not wanting to sound accusatory as he drank some of his beer upon its arrival. He had made up his mind already yes but genuine curiosity led him on to find out more about his new soon to be traveling companion. After all it wasn’t often that people begged to be taken anywhere but where they were.

Celeste had to take a moment to consider her answer. “The pursuers are… People who are angry at me. Common folk, peers, anyone who finds it a crime worthy of death to.. Break tradition and fore-go rules.” She answers. “I lied, made a deal with a lord, and… got found out, and now people want me to face my crimes for… I suppose heresy, is the correct word here?” Celeste took a sip of her beer, and immediately made a face and put it back down. ‘I suppose I can’t be so picky anymore, but nonetheless…’ She stared at the beer for a second. “My family was a noble vampiric family. I… Did not want to be a vampire. So I made a deal with a vampire lord, my servitude for his grace and his help in hiding my… Humanity, I suppose. But I wasn’t careful enough. I broke the pact with him, and he cursed me to be, what I can only describe as… Dead, but not… dead. On the edge of soullessness.”
Celeste absolutely refused to look up at this point. Recounting the story, and everything that happened, and remembering that not only did she lose her parents, but her sibling… The one person who would protect her in the world, despite knowing the truth. She felt like throwing up. She was staring at the cup, her face completely unemotional, as if she was in a sort of dissociated state of mind.

“That’s quite a lot all at once. I’m sure it’s been hard. Better eat up before boarding though we don’t have many big nice meals when sailing lass. Suppose we can find some work for ya on the ship till next we make port or till ya decide a certain place ya wanna be. We can leave first thing in the morning and we can rest on the ship if that feels safer for us” he replied soon finishing his drink beginning to work on his food “anything you need gather as soon as you can and we can help ya load at the docks alright?” He asked looking up from his food in order to see her reply

Celeste looked up, a little for a moment. “Wait. So. You’ll… You’re gonna take me?” She looked apprehensive at first. “What’s the catch?” She questions, narrowing her eyes slightly. “And are you like… Actually a pirate, or like… Just a sailor?”
Celeste wanted to trust this, really. But it seemed too easy. She started in on her food a little bit, too. Though she didn’t really feel like eating, he was right. It would be a while until she would again, it seems. “You’re not… Like, worried, at all, that I might be lying?” She questions. “And again, I don’t know… Anything. I’ve never been outside of Starlight City, much less the Isles before. That won’t be too much for you…? What if I piss you off, or the other people on the ship?” There were just a lot of things she was worried about. Mostly, the words of the man she had met before kept ringing in her ears, telling her she needed to be careful. She had to trust her gut here, though.

“No catch. Most of my crew has been in similar situations as have I. Also yes I am a pirate, always been one” he took a few more bites listening to her next question “luv in a business full of lies I can usually tell when someone is. I think you speak the truth which means you could use some help.” He then chuckled at her next question “if you’re willing to try a bit then I’m not worried. Half the crew was like that once when they first joined. Also if ya make someone mad just leave Em be. Things blow over with time and drinks. As for me I can be hard to anger” he grinned and leaned forward patting her head “don’t worry luv, we may be thieves but we aren’t cruel and spiteful to those needing help. It wouldn’t be the first time we’ve done this and it won’t be the last”

Celeste couldn’t hide her surprise for a moment there, so instead of speaking for a few minutes she would just eat her food. As be patted her head, she seemed to wince a little at being touched, though it was mostly bc she wasn’t entirely sure if she would be corporeal or not. “Okay. So… okay. I can deal with that.” She nods. “Um… I don’t know how to say thank you. It’s… way too kind of you to do this. Especially considering I know my story is… weird, at best.” She shrugs. “I’m in your debt, Flynn.”
