Sarris pouted a little. She liked the stories about the Heroine saving the day. She had listened to Cora reading stories to the children like that.
Sarris raised an eyebrow.
"I am not a lone wolf," she said then added, "and I love the city," Sarris said in a tone that only a teenage girl could make.
This was her home and she cared about the people here, well there were a few she wished would move away. For the most part, she like almost everyone in the city.
"And I can do rules, if they make sense," Sarris said.
She did not think Veliky would make stupid rules and she did not say she would not ask "Why?" She liked to understand the reasons. With Veliky's demeanor change, Sarris was not dumb enough to state that if it was a stupid rule, she would not follow it. What she knew of Veliky was she did not have time for stupid rules and when there was something going on following orders was normally a good thing.
The truth was Sarris was not against good order and rules tended to give good order. She was against blind obedience.
Sarris did not think she needed to respond to the killing part. Veliky already knew that it took a lot for Sarris to kill, and it took a heavy toll on her when she did.
"And I would like to get something out of it as well," she said smiling.
Sarris liked Veliky. She was easy to understand and hard to trick. She also put Sarris at ease as she did not care about all the social niceties that tended to get in the way.
Sarris pulled out some coins to pay for the milk, then she got some change back. One of them was shiny and slightly off.
"What do you make of this?" Sarris asked handing the coin over to Veliky to examine.
Sarris had dealt with some forgeries before, but counterfeit coins were new to here.
She knew this would not be good for the kingdom either.
